    With the final part 3 coming soon, could you add an additional part that compares another smart bikes of the same class to give a buying factor, best value for your money. So far all the smart bikes have their pros & cons regardless of price. It would be great to get a full breakdown on your view.

    I was lucky enough to try both the stages and kickr bike out at my local bike shop and am so glad I did. The kickr felt like a toy compared to the robustness of the stages. You can see that this thing is built to stand the test of time. The handlebars felt far superior and the sturdiness was second to none. The only thing that felt different is the gear change which I will give to the kickr as it’s what we are all used to but I suspect after a while the stages will feel like second nature. The stages was whisper quiet as well when compared to the kickr. This is a no brained for me. Stages all the way

      What about the gradient up and down on the wahoo bike? Do you believe that is a big plus for the wahoo bike or it doesn’t matter too much? The wahoo bike is $1000 more than the stages but I really do like the stages. I’m kinda torn between the two.

    • @andrewm6816
      @andrewm6816 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DynamiteDB the gradient from my point of view is a gimmick. A smart gimmick but something i am happy to trade for the robustness of the stages. If stages come out with version 2 with beeter gear changing then it would simply kill everything else out there. I should point out that i had to return my Stages bike as the flywheel was noisy. A technician came out and replaced but it was never the same so i returned the bike for a full refund. The service was better than anything else i have experienced whilst being in Australia

    • @DynamiteDB
      @DynamiteDB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewm6816 thank you for your response. I’m definitely a fan of robustness and think it’s a massive plus. It’s a shame you had to return your bike. I wonder if this is an ongoing issue. I know wahoo products also have a lot of issues as well so it really comes with all products in this industry.

    • @DynamiteDB
      @DynamiteDB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewm6816 nice, I do like the Neo. I’ve only heard bad things about the Flux though. I have a kickr v5. Works extremely well. I had some teething issues with it at first and thought I had picked up a dud but I think it came down to user error. Once I got my head around re-indexing my derailleur and put a Wi-Fi extender in, everything came together, plus my bike had a worn out chain which wasn’t working well with the brands new cassette on the kickr. A friend of mine who has had multiple trainers advised that buying a smart trainer for the first time will take some tweaking before getting them up and running.

  • @lifeincycling
    @lifeincycling 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dream drive terminology: I agreed with you watching the live stream, but after watching this video and seeing the actual screens I think this way it's easier to understand. Seems like by "front gear shifts" what they mean is "what happens when you use the front ring buttons" (buttons configured for the front ring). Since the functionality on the levers is configurable it's easier to call it that way, otherwise the button configuration screen will have to change depending on whether you selected dream drive or not, and will seem more complicated for the uninitiated.

    • @lifeincycling
      @lifeincycling 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also bummed me out to see so little cassette and FC options, hoping they improve on that. If I (or a friend, or my gym) had a StagesBike it would be very cool to be able to try out 1x and custom-cassette options to see what it feels like, without actually spending the money. Having recently switched to 1x on gravel (40T / 11-40 thankyouverymuch) I spent about three weeks in spreadsheet-mode, comparisons to subcompact/11-32 configs, 46/30 vs 48/31 FC ratios and "jump percentages"... If this tech was readily available it would've saved me a lot of time and risk.

      Fred, Peloton (Peloton Interactive Inc.) is going after a different market. They are selling a fitness program that uses a stationary bike and their business model relies on collecting monthly fees that allow users access to Peloton's proprietary videos/programs. I don't expect they will change that model anytime soon. My youngest daughter has one, but I wouldn't own one. There are much better options and at lower cost, if you are a serious cyclist.

I got my bike Tuesday worked fine for 3 days then on 4th day had to delete the bike on stages link app to add new bike to get it to work again. Also second part question....on zwift it all connected quickly to power meter/cadence/ controlable......but perhaps too fast as it selected the right power meter for power ....which on zwift gave only half power reading compared to the stages link app. Obviously this happened in an event & though i was doing over 300w on the link app i went straight out the back of the group with watts on zwift only showing 150w

      @@gplama thank you for your response! The power meters will not sync. If they do the app can not calibrate. Im wondering if there is a way to hard reset or factory default the thing.

      I suspect that's your issue. Make sure the blue plastic tab is removed fully from each crank arm battery pod, the batteries are good, and try connect/pair/update them via the Stages Link app. Once they're working and linked to the bike it should be all good to go. Stages Support should be able to nut out any other issues if this doesn't work.

      It went from tens of thousands in a world to I would say around the same as an average November day, at least when I log in. That in and of itself is an improvement because it is summer here in the USA and to see as many people on Zwift as I saw during the winter is a win for them.

    Good video. The problem with any of these smart bikes is the cost. This product currently cost $2900 in the states. It is ridiculous that a manufacturer can make a quality exercise bike for $600 but as soon as you add smart feature then it cost $2300 more? I guess we will have to wait for a Chinese manufacturer to copy the product so we can buy it for $500.

      what quality exercise bike are you finding that has dual power meters, a 50lb flywheel, huge customization options, ant+/BT, compatible with every training app out there, commercial grade, 10 yr warranty and this sort of fit and finish for $600? let me know so i can buy one too

      The electrical engineers, software engineers and technical program managers who design, build, and integrate the smart features into a stationary bike need to eat, too.

    • @troyfall6573
      @troyfall6573 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lithangw i agree but everything with cycling is bloated in cost. I can purchase Shimano pedals for $45 but a set with power meters jumps to $1000. Seems a bit extreme which is why consumers are looking to test other options from the Chinese market. $2900 seems a bit excessive for a stationary bike that can never go outside. I have a full carbon road bike and a Saris H3 for $2500 and i can obviously take it on the road or bring the setup to my summer house. Maybe i am under estimating the number of people excited to spend 3k on a stationary bike with some added electronics. :)

      @@troyfall6573 Actually, you are. Not with this bike, but with Peloton. Those are less costly, low 2000s, but are subsidized by monthly subscription fees. Peloton has sold well over 700k of these bikes by now. The company itself has a capitalized value of more than 10 billion and exploded even more so during Covid-19. More of Peloton's bikes get sold than any other "real" bike in the US.
