What’s your indoor cycling set-up? 🏠🚴
Stages SB-20
Wahoo Kickr wheel-on trainer. I like the new Zwift though - no more changing wheels from my outdoor tire to indoor tire.
25 year old Elite Fluid trainer. If the fluid resistance unit ever goes south, I have a wind resistance device that was made for this trainer. (Of course, I would have to wear ear plugs to use it).......I make things last.
Kickr V5(50% off), Climb and a dedicated Caad 10
I've just ordered the upgrade package of cog and clickers - special introductory price - it will save mechanical wear on my existing drivetrain - and I hope it will also effectively feel like an upgrade from mechanical to Di2
Seems like a nice feature would be to be able to have cassette profiles, such that instead of the default 24, map it to the cassette you normally use (or want to simulate).
Agree. Should be possible with an update.
Yeah I hope they come out with that in the future. Altering gear ratios to match your bike or even experiment with others would be great.
You’d be able to do that anyway by changing the difficulty in the settings. But yeah if they tidied it up and had different cassettes options as opposed to a difficulty slider bar, that would be awesome
That's a detractor for me, as I want to train to get better on my bike, not suddenly gain a different set of gear ratios.
But I also am still holding off on a trainer, so maybe they'll add this soon.
Smart. I have two bikes that would require two very different cassettes, so one has been permanently on my Zwift Hub, this is exactly what I want. Probably saving Zwift some money too by doing away with so many variants.
Sounds like the hub is the tool for you 🙌 It's going to be a game changer for those that want to train on different bikes!
Nice sequence of all the different bikes on there. And thanks Harriet, Mark and Steve for the cameos.
I was About to buy the old zwift hub tomorrow and now i can get the new one for the same Price, I Love it
Just purchased the kickr core with hub. Fantastic. Easy to use and switch bikes. 12 speed tt, 9 speed it doesn’t matter. The whole family is riding indoors now
Ive added this to my original Zwift hub and love it.
I plan on getting a trainer soon, and was debating between two bikes (11 and 12) and now I will be able to use either. All I need now is a Black Friday special and I will be all over this.
Just buy one bike pls. Consuming less is always better
Just bought this...looking forward to trying it out
Excellent news for us Sram XDR 12 speed users! I’ll probably make the jump into indoor training now!
Awesome! It's a jump you won't regret 🙌
I'm not sure it's compatible 😏
admittedly I am not the target group here, but I'd love to have one of these for my pinion bike sometime in the future^^
Very good explainer, I think I'll be getting one of these. How come the gear number did not show up on the Zwift screen when trying the different bikes?
Lol! When i got my Zwift Hub the first thing I wondered about was why I needed to shift gears on my bike; they could just do it virtually…
Love that you can fit any bike on there 😃🤘🏼
What about electronic shifting (Di2, AXS), would be nice that you can shift gears with your shifters, you just need to integrate and route to zwift shifting while connected to hub.
I was about to be super pissed as I just ordered my Hub three weeks ago. Thank god it’s available as an upgrade
I literarily ordered my Zwift Hub one day before this was announced!
But you have to pay 60€ for the upgrade…
Right?
Ordered this today. Was wishing there was a package to upgrade my controllers!
Retro Conor made my day. He needs a bunch of baguettes to deliver in that basket.
Would be extra nice if you could program your di2 shifters to function as the Zwift shifter
I was just about to type this...although I don't have Di2 myself
NOW THAT - would be AWESOME......I'm willing to bet that ZWIFT is considering this and discussing with SHimano.....
Hello GCN! Hello bikers! Just got mine 2 days ago to fit with my Giant Contend Shimano 105! Question: it seems the alignment with my bigger chainring is not ideal (it seems to be a bit too much on the right compared to the cog...) and so the cog/chain makes some light noise... The chain does not seem to touch the plastic however. I do not have the issue when the chain is on the smaller chain ring where it drives perfectly. Do you know if it matters as the transmission is said to be simulated through the 24 virtual speeds and the Zwift Click whatever the bike you are using? Thanks for enlightening me as it is my very first indoor setup! :)
I have a dedicated bike on my trainer if I switch to a 1 by front chain ring and use the ZWIFT single gear in the rear. Can I get rid of my rear derailleur, and chain and replace it with a belt it would really simplify everything and keep maintenance to a minimum.
This is an absolute game changer. bravo zwift.
Will you be getting one Richie?
@@gcntech nahhh
The conversion for my bike to a Wahoo was a total pain in the neck with spacers. If this eliminates that it is great!
Wow that is amazing. Most of all, I wonder what the noise levels are compared to the KICKR or some other trainer. While my KICKR 5th gen makes minimal amount of noise, it still has that clanking sound when shifting, and with the cassettes going with the chains as well. I live in a high rise apartment and floor to floor noise complaints are a big issue. SUPERNICE!
Same here and my kickr actually starts vibrating pretty badly when riding in higher gears. I can basically only ride in ERG-mode in a very low gear indoors. Super annoying.
Looks great - can the sprocket on The Cog be easily cleaned/replaced if needed?
Can it be used with a fixie? I know you've mentioned a derailler but i don't have one :( .
Love it, but like the original, will it come to Australia or do we miss out again ?
I am thinking about using this for my e-bike (with battery out obviously) and wondering if I would have any issues fitting it?
Will a narrow bike (120mm-wide) fit with an adapter?
I dare you to fit all sorts of recumbent bike into the Zwift hub 😁
You invented ERG mode once again! Congrats.
It might be nice to use for structured workout, but definitely not for racing
My gravel bike's got a Formula CX-22 rear disc hub with quick release axle, length 145 mm and O.LD of 135 mm so, according to Zwift specs (and most wheel off trainers), my bike isn't compatible. Anyone out there had the same issue and found a solution (other than buying a new bike)?
Hi thanks for this video. I'm completely new to bike world and i'd like to use my old mountain bike with zwift hub one. It has 7 cogs on the back. Can you tell me if it fits with Hub One or if it requires minimum 8 cogs on the back? Thank you!
Will it work with Shimano Cues chain?
Sounds like a great system. Does it only work with the Zwift app?
Ooh! I cod fit my Cube emtb on there & take the KOM up Alp du Zwift...
how it works with the front chainring??
Mine had problems out of the box weird noises and 10k bike sitting crooked 2 degrees to the right, returned it
Technically you should be able to use Ekar 13speed. Cant you just adjust on the settings that its a simple 12spd 1x?
how do gear changes feel? how does sprinting feel? missing some important info here!
Seems like the click might be awkward to position on the hoods where I'd want it. Regardless, I love this idea and I may invest in one especially at that price.
That's impressive.
I can even fit my trekking bike in there? My bike has 9 speed cassette on the back.
What about an bike with a chain tensioner on the front?
My second bike has an chain tensioner near the front sprocket.
nice. is it Campagnolo EKAR compatible?
Would love a turbo trainer for a Brompton.
Nice work, Manon. Right now, I'm in the market for my first smart trainer. Has Zwift published what ratios the virtual gears replicate? i.e. 34-36 vs 52-10, etc.
🤩I want one!!
Does it require the two different adaptors for through axel vs quick release?
It does and they are included
Will 145mm tandem with quick release skewers work?
Does it work with fixie or let’s call them track bikes?
Looks good :)
Magic wizardry indeed!
Will it work with Sram's transmission?
Could you just remove derailleur adjust chain length and run setup as SS?! You could even save money by switching to a 9 or speed chain correct?
this is definately going to be my xmas present
Will this hub work on other trainers?
What about cog wear and service ?
Great Video. I wish my Trackbike would fit . . .
Ha! Virtual gearing on your track bike.
What is the gearing equivalent (highest/lowest)? Do part needs changing out for thru axel/QR?
From @gplama everything from the equivalent of a 31-44 on the bottom end, to a 55-10 on the top end.
Anyone knows if it works with Rouvy ?
odered one today, the hub that is. already have the trainer
When i order the hub one can i still decide to jist put a normal Cassette on it later? Or is only the old hub also compatible with the new cog
It is the same smart trainer as the Zwift Hub with a cassette. You simply have the option to order the one cog instead of a pre-installed cassette of your choice
@@Cid0484thanks Mate
How long before the other trainer manufacturers bring out their 'cogs'... or have Zwift got a patent for this design ??
Is it any quieter?
Half price Kickr V5,Apple TV to 42”,massive upgrade from my elite Qubo wheel on
Don’t need anything else IMHO
Question is…will El Alto fit????
What about Campagnolo?
You know what you never see? A Pinarello Lungavita. The Kona made me think about that.
Is it still possible to mount a cassette to the new Zwift Hub One?
Yes its interchangeable. It just replaces the cassette and freehub body. You can switch them out
OK, how about a beater frame from off of the junk pile? Add a cheap bottom bracket and fixie/1by chainset and you’ve got a Zwift setup. The headset could be seized and Click/Play steering would still work. It’s easy to hack a fork stand, so you wouldn’t even need a wheel. Well, yes, a saddle would be nice. With an iPad or Apple TV, this is good.
Great concept but muscle memory is going to cause some rear derailleur issues.
There’ll be some people who will automatically try to change gears using their shifters - what happens if they do?
Based on the way the guide is setup, you'll probably just hear some clicking of the rear derailleur as it tries to unsuccessfully shift.
@@ynie1 Maybe. I'd still want to see some proper stress testing
If you're running Electronic gears you could just unplug the batteries then it won't shift!
@@tattooedyogi Etap yes, a bit more tricky with di2
Just unplug the di2 cable from the derailleur. Easy job and would prevent it from moving.
We need the cog for other wahoo kicker
Does it still come with a years zwift subscription ?
yes
Seems like a genius concept. With 24 internal gears in the back, do you get another 24 if you shift the front derailleur? Seems to me the rear mech should accommodate that.
why would you need it?
@petka_ you wouldn't, just curious.
Interesting!
Will you be picking one up? 👀
What about 6 and 7 speed with a steel bike? 126mm Steel bikes easily can fit a 130mm wheel.
Did you find out if 6 speed 126mm bikes fit on hub one?
Does it work with SRAM flat chains?
yes
oh wow, if it's a technically solid trainer in other aspects (power readouts, resistance, freewheel behaviour), it will eclipse every other trainer. I was expecting to see it quoted for a grand, 599 is very reasonable.
it's the same trainer as before, the zwift hub. the only difference is the cassette part afaik. It's lower performing than the trainer that retail a grand, but to be honest going from 2% accuracy to 1% for double the money is far from worth it. All in all this is likely the best bang for your buck if you look for a trainer.
And it can only be used with Zwift, I think, not other apps.
not true, it's got ANT+ FE-C @@nickdorey940
I’m not so sure. This feels like a very niche benefit to me. I doubt there are many out there putting multiple bikes needing different cassettes. I’d certainly have no use for it.
If this is able to be used with other ride programs besides just zwift it will be the best trainer on the market at its price point with out a doubt.
its not, you can only shift when on zwift
On another channel they said Zwift has said they are open to being able to use this on other apps or equipment. But currently not compatible. I'm sure that will be coming at some point.
Only works on Zwift, so it's a non starter for me.
What about 6 gear vintage bike? Could be fit?
Did you found out?
This must also have the new super highspeed refresh of 10hz that Wahoo has got. Maybe?
yes it has with hub firmware update released already.
Compatible with something like the Kickr Climb?
Unless Zwift has a tie-in now with Wahoo it won't be compatible since the Kickr Climb connects to your trainer and the trainer acts as the controller for the Climb based on the info it gets from your software (e.g. Zwift) - because of that only Wahoo trainers can work with the Climb since they're the only ones with the appropriate firmware to connect with it. The Climb doesn't connect with training software directly - it instead uses your Wahoo trainer as a bridge basically.
No, the Zwift Hub doesn't support either the Kickr Climb or the Elite Rizer. But that is not because of the software between the brands. The Zwift Hub simply doesn't support a rise of your front on the hardware end.
What about different axle types?
What about them? It supports the same axles as the original Zwift hub.
So this is basically the next level of ERG mode, no?
Could this work with single speed bicycles?
The video mentions it requires a rear derailleur bicycle.
it requires a chain tensioning device, not necessarily a derailleur
isn't the rear dropouts of a singlespeed bike a chain tensioning device?@@andreasolsson2336
Has anyone encountered issues with removing the QR adapter on the new Zwift hub one? This adapter comes factory installed on the unit and by god, it is impossible to remove it to install the through axel. A quick Google search reveals that is a pretty common problem and more so that Zwift are aware of it, yet still sending out units. I’m awaiting the delivery of a new one however, I’m not convinced that this issue will be fixed. Thought this would be of interest to the channel and require some further investigating.
Will it work with 2x7 road bike?
It works perfectly with my 3x7 commuter bike, so should be fine.
I thought of the idea of virtual shifting back in 2018 in the Zwift forums… 😮
Why does this post keep getting removed? Just saying?
😢
How much is the replacement cog?
$60
@@Chris-pt6hh Jeez. An 11sp 105 cassette is 30-40
lama changed the 14t only from a normal cassette. no need to discard the whole thing.
Such a shame EKAR doesnt work :(
That price got me taken back
so you are LOCKED to laggy Zwift app only ?
Hahaha nice jab at MTB riders! 😂😂❤
Harriet ❤
Interesante idea y propuesta. No me convence nada la ergonomía de los botones🥵 pero bueno, ya inventarán algo que lo mejore.
From IG to youtube in tree seconds
The price is great but what are we losing. I see it has a lower accuracy than those with higher price points, but is 1% extra accuracy really needed... even for racing.
Unless you are into competitive racing I doubt you will need the 1% accuracy
Would love to put my fixed gear bike and defeat the purpose of a fixie
I can't wait to not be able to buy this in Australia 🇦🇺
do I have to call all my neighbors when I buy it😂😂?? to let them try their bikes
Does it come with less connection dropouts than my current Zwift Hub?
Are you using bluetooth or ANT+? Some of it may also be dependent on your device. I had issues with an older iPad, but never had an issue with a Mac mini with ANT+ dongle.
I bought a usb extension cable and moved my bluetooth dongle closer to the hub - it's worked perfectly eversince with zero dropouts
