I’d say the writers are kind of hoping that sales would be enough to warrant a 3rd movie that would connect to the epilogue because in the days leading up to the movie, there was a special program that had a lore timeline and the epilogue was mentioned so I don’t think it was retconned entirely. I bet the probable third movie will have Mei, Menoa, and Lui Star that helps bring the long story to the epilogue
I hope the writers are happy about the sales because I heard the sales are good :) I want another movie that connected the 02 Ending. But I want to see a story with the 02 digidestined in the main role.
I watched it in the German Cinema on Friday and what really hit me was how dark this movie was. I was glad to see everyone achiving their dreams like Hikari being a kindergardener in the beginning and the comedic moments where fun too, but once we got the backstory flashback it was just kinda...yeah. And while I personally didn't mind it, I can see why some fans might be disappointed by how short the fight scenes were and that we didn't really get anything "new" other than Ukkomon. We'll still need something to see how we get to the 02 Ending from here tho, since a couple things don't really line up just yet...since the thing that IS going to happen was kinda just stopped in this movie lol.
Geht mir genauso. It was really awesome and I think the things actually line up quite well. Sadly I cant explain why THAT thing had to stop at the moment, but it certainly makes sense to adults. This development has to go slowly, otherwise there would be chaos.
@@alexandermatos165 That they lost the digivices. Tai is on his way to being politician, Yolei and Ken were hinted at and in the old epilogue we didnt see any digivices. They could just go through Izzys Gate Software instead.
Just watched it in theatre this weekend. I get that people is saying the plot is cheap for the sake of cheesiness and plot conveniences. It is, indeed, felt more suitable as an extra cerebration episode than a movie. But I still enjoyed this more that Tri and Kizuna just for the narrative isn't "The child grew up, time to act adult and drop the child self" setup.
I've also seeked reviews about the movie It's super interesting to hear the major complaints about people in the west is about the recons to the lore while in japan it's about how dark and sad the movie can get, which it's understandable, japanese people tend to go to movies to have a good time, that's why their favorite type of animated films are slice of life stories mixed with some fantastic elements or just straight up "battle shonen" movies. Either way I'm really excited to go and watch it on theaters.
Yeah they are seemingly fine with most things bar Digimon Frontier and Tri. (both atrocities, trust me I watched them both AND Kizuna before, the difference between Tri and Kizuna is stark).
@@mikethepokemaster2012 The main gripe I had with Frontier is almost every other villain bar Lucemon (since he's the last one) took almost forever to kill. Gigasmon alone takes like at least 4 episodes and that's just the first guy. Then Mecurymon, Duskmon and the Dynasmon-Crusadermon duo jack that up even further.
My friend and I have been fans from the beginning. I bought our ticket to see it Dubbed. I’m so excited man I can’t wait. Going to take my 02 Digivice 😂
As someone, who has already watched the movie, I absolutely agree with everything those reviews say. Like I said yesterday, I had some issues with it, (like appearntly a lot of people had), but, (also like appearntly a lot of people), I absolutely enjoyed it. And yeah, it's a horror movie. (Ghost Game was a kid's show compared to it.) About 80% of the movie I was just sitting there with my hands covering my mouth, because I was so shocked. I'm glad you can watch the movie soon. Looking forward to to hear your thoughts on it. Ps: There is something that nobody talkes about though. Those two were sooo cute together. I totally ship them now.
I'm excited for this movie but will treat it like its own thing, like I did with Kizuna. Bc I wasn't a fan of tri and it's animation (that lineart choice...), I enjoyed Kizuna without that baggage but I also got that "grow up already" message (knowing full well they will reunite with their partners some day since the 02 epilogue is canon... Which didn't make me cry less lol). The animation was supreme, though. Really enjoyed it. I read a comment on another video saying that what they understood was the digimon represented a spark or passion in your youth you lose as an adult but can regain at some point. I call that the ability to be amused by the world and be inspired. That makes more sense to me, BUT if the movie clearly left almost everyone understanding something else, then it's on the storyteller for not communicating what they wanted clearly, not the audience.
I just watched it last night with my kids! (Ages 8 and 9)...I did NOT expect it...but yeah it was pretty dark. The drive back was a long convo with them, but it wasn't terrible. They were good, but yeah, I personally liked the moral of the story and the direction they went with it and the retcon didn't feel too forced or bad.
*at risk of sounding like a troll* 🗣️THIS DIGIMON MOVIE WAS ASS AND WE SHOULD RIOT ETA: 3:20 if I had watched this video before going... Maybe I would have been prepared... .
I mean,, having just watched Kizuna, it's heavily implied that they were going to see their partners again, even with a lot of them moving in the direction of the epilogue (Mimi and Sora not withstanding). So I'm curious what about the ending changes the lore so much that its worth noting and not just brushing off like Kizuna's ending was.
If the epilogue of 02 is cannon, then they do meet Agumon and Gabumon again. And it does seem that way since Yamato is studying for aerospace, so seems like the intent is to make even the silly parts of the 02 epilogue true.
I just got back from seeing the movie and overall the movie was good, wish we spend some more time with the main cast, the animation was great along with the soundtrack, the new kids backstory was very serious I know digimon's covered serious matter before but this might have been too serious especially for a comeback movie, and most of the voice actors did a great job felt like they got right back into the groove. I feel that the new kids backstory could have been cut down a little bit and maybe add an additional action scene or maybe some more time with the main cast, but I also understand that this is basically the new kids movie. Like I said earlier, this is a good film Digimon lore implications aside. It was just great to be in a theater with a digimon fans just like me. Oh, and also, I wish we got some new evolutions for the Digimon partners that seem like a missed opportunity.
I haven't been keeping up with reboots, just checking in with new series like Ghost Game. But this makes me interested in this movie; I've always thought Digimon had far better potential to tackle more dark or mature topics than some other series, and I would be interested to see if this one does that.
I am so happy, the film here in my country is coming soon on november 30 so I am pretty exited. Last evolution kizuna is one of my favorite anime films so I have big expectations on this one, nice video and thanks for the info!
In terms of a digimon movie where it's bombastic it fails, but where it shines is it being a generally feel good emotional movie. I'm sure many ppl can relate to Rui, and how they would want and regret something that he wished for. It's a solid movie if you're not going in expecting a lot of 02 memberberries
I watched the Dub last night! It was definitely fun to finally see a Digimon film in theaters. I had a ticket for Kizuna in theaters, but COVID hit and that screening got canceled. I can't wait for your review and thoughts. Overall, I liked it wayyyy more than Kizuna. Kizuna is a weird case where I need to revisit it, but I am very much in the camp of "Bad writing, emotional bait movie." That could change with a rewatch. I definitely agree with some of the reviews that The Beginning is a darker film, some Ghost Game/Survive edge thrown in there. I liked the themes and everything even if I do think it suffers the issue of focusing on a new character like Tri and Kizuna. Though I would say Rui/"Louie" is my favorite of that bunch.
I really recommend you watch some fansubs for Kizuna, the language used for that movie was extremely subtle, like a lot of the meaning hinging on the different meanings of Destiny (Unmei) and Fate (Shukumei) in japanese, which the dub team ran through like a bulldozer, amongst other stuff they just didn't get.
@@hyperslash2144 if we're lucky, maybe AllTheAnime could do something for a UK screening. I know that they helped get a UK screening for Kizuna in late 2021, when the Covid outbreaks eased up a bit.
I thought this would be the last film and that it would connect Kizuna to the epilogue of 02. Well, as the film doesn't connect to the epilogue of 02, it's more than obvious that Toei did it on purpose so that it would have the justification to do at least another film. The film could be a retcon, but we will have to wait for the new film to say whether it is a good retcon or a bad retcon. For people who want a cohesive work, the retcon ruins the experience. On the other hand, retcons can improve something. The question that remains unanswered: is the film necessary? We don't know if the events of this film don't influence the next film or the return of the Digimon. Yes, it is unnecessary and could only be for one season or not exist at all but now if the next film has a connection with this one, then it could be necessary to bring the digimon back.
While it doesn't recycle the foreshadowing of Kizuna, the events at the end of The Beginning are clearly a key point for the future return of all digimon.
*Honest review / no spoilers* I got to watch it on the 27th in Germany. I was so disappointed and so was the audience (around me). It is a movie about Rui (a new character). The cast of 02 plays little to almost no role in the story which in itself is very simple and filled with loopholes. It will definitely leave you with more questions than answers. The action is scarce. I was shocked when the final battle was over. It literally lasted for one minute. 💔
Omg this is very disheartening. So they didn’t listen to none of the reviews about Tri being completely focused on meicoomon and mei, or even the 2020 adventure which focused too much on Tai. Why won’t they listen to us?!?!😩😩
@@kevosaysohoeyou are absolutely right, it felt awful lot like Tri. However, Tri did few things better. Won't mention the to avoid spoiling the movie. 😅
This is how they treat digimon. They can't just grow the garden they have, they just throw more and more flowers in without considering if they even look good together. When i first saw Rui he just looked a like a goth cry baby version of Ken. Black broken digivice, was mean to his partner, has family issues, a loner. Why couldn't they bring back the other two original digidestined who we don't know or like make him their kid?
Wow that was something it was basically Lui backstory. If didn't watch the movie then you didn't miss much. I'm am wondering if they going to do another movie doing something about the present. Kizuna was the last. Beginning the past. The next one is about the present.
I absolutely loved 02 Digimon. Had so many great episodes and really looking forward to this film. I’m hoping I’ll be able to stream it- not showing in the Uk
There was a recent DigiNavi with the cast of the movie and it was shown that the 02 epilogue is still canon so it’s weird that The Beginning seemingly doesn’t wrap things nicely to realign Kizuna with the rest of the continuity. Are we to expect another movie or just assume untold off screen adventures we’ll never see happens?
tbh, I expect them to go forward by ignoring Kizuna because of it's massive continuity problems down the line. And considering a majority of people do not like Kizunas story at all on top of it at all as well I can see them just declaring it out of continuity and move on.
@@EnerKaizer I don't see a continuity problem personally. I viewed the whole plot as they're growing up and figuring out who they are other than being chosen ones. Because of this psychological shifting and self discovery they lost their connections. We have to remember that dark evolutions exist and Digimon are influenced by their partners on an emotional and mental level. The original 8 were literally created or had their data altered to connect them to their human, crests, and Digivice.
I was fortunate enough to see the movie in my home country of Austria and I got to say I loved it. It certainly went into horror territory somewhere in the middle and it had my jaw dropped. Thats certainly a new take for 02 and it was great they went there. I am not upset at all that the 02 kids did not get more focus or that it was not battle heavy, we had enough of that in previous movies. I understand some People think that this breaks the lore, but it really doesnt. Neither did Kizuna. Tai and Matt lost their Digimon for the moment, because they were focusing on something completly different. Thats not an issue that most of our beloved cast would have.
@@FloundFahrdienst We talking about Digmon franchise where inconistances and plot holes are a thing. It's like you forgot 02 and Tri and what a mess it was. They can easily change rules and make whatever is or not a canon at this point.
@@alexastorm97 The only inconsitances 02 had were the Dark Ocean and Demon. Because those plotpoints were completly dropped for Vamdemon/Myothismon. Tri on the other hand was...a gigantic clusterfuck
@@FloundFahrdienst Well, yeah 02 wasn't that bad, but it was very obvious writers didn't know what story they wanna tell, but Tri is an absolute enigma, because nothing makes sense, so by all these weird writings the idea that in some way digidestent might find a way to reunite with their partners is very much a possibility. We are in fact talking about Digimon where all kinds of things can happen.
This concerns me so much now, because o feel like they are trying to kill digimon because of these themes they keep going for, side lining out main cast while pishing these new charactwrs that will only ever be just in the movies and nothing more, its like theyre telling us to just move on and get over it theres nothing here for you anymore, thays what i keep seeong with these movies and series.
I’m really looking forward to watching it! 02 was my favourite season, but I’m going in without expectations, just to be safe. Also, looking forward to your ending-explanation video 👍
My guess is that the ending will be just be similar to Kizuna, in that it will essentially strongly imply another story needing to take place between this and the epilogue.
I'm so sick and tired of "tragic OC of the week" in Digimon. It was fine 20+ years ago, but then it became one of the reasons Tri was dragged through the mud and Kizuna had this dull, trite trope too. But AGAIN ???? Are they so devoid of imagination that another Wallace/Minami/Meiko/Maki/Menoa token character is all they can come up with ? I'm so through with Digimon Adventure continuations. It all ended with Diaboromon Strikes Back, as far as I'm concerned.
@@thedigiknow I completely get it, I know some folks might have different views of the movie, but rather see them for myself. I’m glad you get to experience this movie day of. 😊 I hope you enjoy it!
I always kept debating about the Last Kizuna ending. Genai did say, Eng Dub, unless Tai and Matt had some potential locked away, their ties would be severed. Perhaps at some point their potential manifested.
The only thing that Genai meant is their potential as digidestined aka ppl called upon to bring peace to the world and use a digivice to force evolution. Humans can still coexist with Digimon, that's the entire reason Tai is submitting a thesis to go into politics at the end of the movie. The adults in the 02 epilogue aren't chosen anymore that's the role of the next generation. To analyze it on a meta level, Kizuna is about the inevitability of growing up but ties into 02 to say "you can still hold onto what you loved as a kid as an adult, you just have to reevaluate the importance it holds on your life."
I’m actually so mad that I wasn’t able to watch this movie and now I’m scared that digimon won’t have another movie like this in theaters. I also hope it’ll do good enough to warrant a dvd release
I'm from Poland, Digimon translations were stopped on episode 16 of Digimon Adventure Tri, a dozen or so episodes of Digimon Advedture 2020 were still translated. The first Digimon series was broadcast on Polish television, that's when I watched the anime for the first time, even though I didn't know about the existence of anime, I immediately loved it. I liked it compared to stupid western cartoons. You shouldn't be afraid of spoilers if a given title is good and if someone learns its story prematurely, they will still have fun at the screening even though they know what will happen. A good title will speak for itself, you could make half the episode without spoilers and the next half with spoilers, or a separate episode with spoilers. I have more important problems in life than spoilers from works that I will never have time for, after all, there are so many of them I miss the Polish translation of Digimon Ghost Game, but I'm too lazy to learn English, and I don't learn English because I prefer to use my native language so that the language doesn't become extinct.
Shoutout to the dad who brought his two little kids and probably scarred them. Just got out and I can say it was a good movie. Does some stuff to the lore that I’m not happy with but man it was good to hear the old dub
I plan on taking my two children (ages 4 and 7) to see the movie next week, I'm really worried that since it apparently has a darker tone and some scenes of potential abuse/horror that it'll be too much for my young ones. I really really hope its still appropriate for the youngest of viewers. Thanks for sharing.
The spoilers on with the will sound very intense and as a 30s adult I am debating whether I am going to see it in theaters or wait til it comes out and fast-forward through certain scenes. If the spoilers are correct it might get an R rating.
@@melaniepage7321 oh my god thanks for bringing this to my attention, I looked it up and confirmed that indeed the scene in question really does sound like way too much for both of my kids. I will be trying to get my money back on those movie tickets!
I don’t recommend it at all for children. Even I in my 20s was shocked with the graphic scenes as that’s something l did not sign up for. But that’s not to say the movie was bad though.
There was a chatty little girl sitting behind me at my showing last night and she didn't seem to bothered by it. But each child is different so it really depends on your own children.
I really enjoyed the movie-it had a darker tone, an intriguing story, and let's be honest, it's clearly aimed at a more mature, older audience. You can't expect it to play out like a children's show, and I feel like that's where most of the negative reviews are coming from.
I watch the subtitled version in theaters yesterday. As someone who was not fond of Tri, Kizuna or Adventure 2020... I actually really loved this movie. I honestly don't really care for the 02 epilogue, so I'm fine with how the movie went. I really enjoyed it so much and even brought my Tailmon plush with me!
As a hardcore Digimon fan, I thought the ending was fine but it pissed me off last evolution was so good in comparison and made me feel emotional. Then ending of this movie felt flat and without spoiling anything there is literally less then three minutes of fighting... I loved 02 growing up, I play the new card game now and I am investing my time in a series that I love. This just felt like a slap in the face to long time fans.
I will never forgive or excuse any mistakes tri, kizuna or this film make. The only purpose of the midquels is to fill on the gap from the malomyotismon defeat to the 02 ending. Yet they keep half assing it.
Haven't seen the movie yet. Can't tell if these changes bother me, its a really mixed bag. I like that they try the more adult tone, loved it in Survived and Hackers Memory and overall a good thing for me that its not "just nostalgia bait". But retcons and digimons overall non-existential consistency did bother me since forever. Every game and anime is a multiverse where even basic universal laws of the digital world are not save from getting changed. I get that things change since adventure 99(it was a commercial advertisement at its core, no reason for writers to think that far ahead) but at some point they should at least get the newer Adventure Movies right.
You should watch jigsaw and spiral but they are lower on my list. I did love this movie though. Felt so much like the original series. Brought me so much joy
Watched the movie twice already, cause I had to get them cards, and I gotta say those twitter reviews do not reflect what most people think. The new lore and retcon seems way too out of place and "too convenient" (that's what one guy meant by cheap actually) and the movie had almost no action, which for Digimon content it makes no sense, even if you want to make a more adult movie. Pace of the movie is also weird as it seems to start already mid story and then most of it is just going down memory lane, but not in a good kind of way where they go "10 hours before" and explain the whole situation, no, movie keeps on going forward and telling what it wants to tell but with no real set up. To me it felt overall that the movie should have been released as a TV Special instead as I felt it was not really worth a theatrical release and while I don't think it was bad overall, it was okaish and kind of a minor dissapointment.
01 tv shows is about children isekai to Digimon world and become savior to save the world. While 02 tv shows is about helping senpai guarding Digimon world while living a normal life school. As you can see, these 2 digimon anime are on different genres Finished watched the movie, it's a digimon movie with 02 style of reality. The topic of this movie is about the communication, focus on the new guy relationship with his digimon Because of miscommunication in the past, it's leading toward a tragic, including his digimon. This movie is deeper than you thought and realistic because it's somehow could happen in Japan society
I enjoyed it was very different and had darker tone than i expcted. I saw 1 trailer from a year ago so i went in blind pretty much. I am interested in seeing where this goes or if they even follow up. They kinda imply their is a greater entity digimon behind Ukkomon. That SAID i actually havent seen Last Kizuna yet😅. So ill watch that now
Well I read the spoilers and honestly, I was confused with how it ended and how it will lead to the epilogue of the 02 tv anime. If Toei animation decides to make one more Digimon Adventure movie, they should bring all of the cast from Adventure and 02, have Meiko return and fix her relationship with Meicoomon after it returns as Meicrackmon VM, have a proper villain that threatens the digital world and the real world, and introduce new characters as supporting characters, not a story focusing on them. That’s what I honestly think.
Aside from continuity confusion i personaly felt that the 02 Cast was kinda redundant. I mean rui/ren needed help but based on what happened storywise it could have been any other digi destined and the result would have been the same.
This movie was so bad. 02 cast are just side characters in this movie, it’s a drag to get to, over use of 3D in the final “battle” if you could even call that and it completely wrecks the OG story and provides no answers
I think it's very likely that cinemas in Portugal will bring the new film like they brought Kizuna. But if it takes as long as Kizuna, then it's best not to rush or watch it in another country or online.
I just wanted to see the reactions of the fans that only cared or put Digimon Adventure above many of the other works in the franchise, because I really want to see how people react to the lore of Adventure be completely destroyed to irreparable. If they manage to create a new movie around Adventure, I'll expect nothing other than being worse than the last.
I'm probably an oddity when it comes to plot holes in Digimon. Since it's an established metaverse, multiple Earths and Servers, across the franchise I just look for pieces that can fit. It's been established the 02 ending is hard set in the Adventure canon so Kizuna is just something that was meant to happen but may not be hard set. We know they're all reunited at some point and they will probably do another movie, Adventure is a never ending money machine, where everyone is reunited for a final purpose. I also have a bit of a theory that the potential plot is more like a virus or something based off the psychology of the humans. Dark evolutions exist when they have extreme negative feelings so who's to say they're also not the reason their partners are gone. They are growing and changing and maybe thinking it's time to move on because that seed was planted in them. Or maybe because they're going into the border world as a whole and figuring out who THEY are outside of their roles as chosen ones this is effecting their connection to their partners. We then have to remember that before Adventure there was 5 other children we really know nothing about besides the ending of their Adventure. We don't know if they were selected the way the 8 from Adventure were or if their Digimon were "developed" the same way. I say developed because we know the original 8 were linked to the tags, crests, and digivices as well as a specific human. I always say it as the children were chosen in that instant when parrotmon attacked, their data was collected, and used later on.
Plot holes aren't the big issue with an re-imagination of a contiuning story that would connect to an alternative storyline of adventure's characters. As you said, not only do different realities make sense seeing how each plot after adventures ending is a complete different world setting, but also couldn't exist in the world of the adventure ending. The big issue is that none of the new re-imagninations of the original adventure cast have been any good at all. Tri was awful with the whole plot not going anywhere interesting, and wasting time with nothing happening until the final acts, nor is the finale of it satisfying because the newly introduced characters suck and aren't interesting with their story progressions at all. Same for Kizuna too, it's a mess of a dumb plot with a dumber conclusion. All these movies have is pretty animation to pander to our nostalgia but aprt from that they are awful.
As someone that already saw the movie .... well the animation is good, the story as a stand alone is good but as a part of a series is bad like BAD BAD if you are a fan that can put aside its nostalgia and watch it be prepared for a story worst than tri and with bigger retcons than kizuna , but if you are a fan that is just happy to see a new digimon movie you will like it .
That's the issue with anything regarding Adventure 01 and 02. They act like both seasons are their own comtinuity when they should be an extension of each other.
I didn't know English Dub was only one day in my area, and tomorrow everyone doing the Japanese dub. IDK if I want to go since I grew up on the English dub
well... This movie feels again like the people in charge of Digimon at Toei are devided, and it shows in the end result. It almost feels like this was supposed to be a story ONLY about Rui, but whoever was in charge demanded the 02 cast to be in this movie in some starring role, which basically resulted in a half baked mess and explains the absolute tonal whiplash mentioned in the reviews. This is almost modern Spider-Man comics level of creative dissonance here. They didn't feel confident with whatever new they wanted originally to do, and, in order to feel at least save, wrapped this all up in something we already knew and then discarded it the moment people bought their tickets. Have already seen many people who felt cheated by the advertising of The beginning.
I've seen the film and MY review is now live! No spoilers review: th-cam.com/video/dojK_yrBMGc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9oUC4aFxFdrFmq3I

@@maximumrisk2004 It doesn't line up at all. It even contradicts the lore setup in 01.
What do you mean by that IS👀 spoil me fck it😂
@@maximumrisk2004what is THAT thing you are referring to?
It’s like they want us to hate ourselves for liking digimon as adults, yet they still want us to buy the products
It reached number 1 in Japan so those criticisms are probably not representative.
Yeah they are seemingly fine with most things bar Digimon Frontier and Tri. (both atrocities, trust me I watched them both AND Kizuna before, the difference between Tri and Kizuna is stark).
Can't be any worse than the tedious drivel that is Sailor Moon Eternal. 🤷♂️
@mrex666productions7 frontier is not bad. It just took the partner aspect.
Super comprehensive and well researched update! Thank you!
Really happy Australia is getting a release, fingers crossed for the UK and Canada.
My friend and I have been fans from the beginning. I bought our ticket to see it Dubbed. I’m so excited man I can’t wait. Going to take my 02 Digivice 😂
Hope you enjoy it!
(Ghost Game was a kid's show compared to it.)
About 80% of the movie I was just sitting there with my hands covering my mouth, because I was so shocked.
I'm glad you can watch the movie soon.
Looking forward to to hear your thoughts on it.
Ps: There is something that nobody talkes about though.
Those two were sooo cute together. I totally ship them now.
Did you mean yolei and ken?
Ghost Game was a kid's show though. 🤷♂️
I have seen the film! Spoiler free review on Sunday Nov 12. Spoiler full review / ending explained the week after!
Nice, hope you liked it, it was probably my favorite of these Adventure reunion movies, despite its flaws.
*at risk of sounding like a troll* 🗣️THIS DIGIMON MOVIE WAS ASS AND WE SHOULD RIOT
ETA: 3:20 if I had watched this video before going...
I have watched the movie in Germany, if you want i can say if they appear or not
Ur gonna b disappointed
@@sapodeuces I already watched it. It's whatever to me, especially if this is the last time we're seeing the adventure cast before the Epilogue.
It does absolutely nothing besides show what taichi is doing with his new job
What an experience hearing the relatively empty theater audibly cringe whenever armadillomon spoke.
Lol yeah that was jarring. Good thing he only spoke for 3 mins of the movie. I dunno how hard it is to get a Texan accent.
oh yeah english dub armadillomon was a huge miss
Haven't watch it yet, but most reviews are great, which I am super exciting going back to this OG universe.
I haven't been keeping up with reboots, just checking in with new series like Ghost Game. But this makes me interested in this movie; I've always thought Digimon had far better potential to tackle more dark or mature topics than some other series, and I would be interested to see if this one does that.
i have a theater near me showing it soon so i'm eagerly waiting my work schedule to see if i can make it!
I'm a bit surprised to hear some of these early reviews, and that it seems like everyone likes it. I'm happy it's showing in my town.
It sounds like Bandai wanted to make this a proper horror movie for Halloween. I am seeing this on November 9 and looking forward to it.
These reviews make me more intrigued to see the movie... Provided it's able to have a screening in Ireland.
Fingers crossed, cant get it in England from what i know
@@hyperslash2144 if we're lucky, maybe AllTheAnime could do something for a UK screening.
I know that they helped get a UK screening for Kizuna in late 2021, when the Covid outbreaks eased up a bit.
I am going to the movies today to watch it. Really happy to get to watch it in the cinema today.
*Honest review / no spoilers*
I got to watch it on the 27th in Germany.
Why won’t they listen to us?!?!😩😩
This is sort of what I was fearing. Instead of tieing up loose ends from previous films/TV series. They introduced new ones. :/
@@kevosaysohoeyou are absolutely right, it felt awful lot like Tri. However, Tri did few things better. Won't mention the to avoid spoiling the movie. 😅
@@minicle426😢
In still excited to see the film. I'm ready for a more grounded and mature 02 Cast. Let's GO!!
I absolutely loved 02 Digimon. Had so many great episodes and really looking forward to this film. I’m hoping I’ll be able to stream it- not showing in the Uk
Really interesting I really appreciate this n I am really excited to watch it. Huge T.K. fan here since s1 so hopefully I get to see some T.K. scenes
bought my tickets today! can't wait!
I mean then film did have "the beginning" in it's title
Ya it seems that there's a new story in store
I already got my ticket preordered for the November 8th
Kizuna breaks the lore until we get something in the future that leads to the 02 happy ending. If that doesnt happen its still not okay

I’m still excited for the film. I miss the armor Digimon though.
Wasn't able to watch it theaters but I'll likely buy it on disk.
Glad to have the heads up from this review though.
Its coming out the 23rd in Australia cant wait!!
I’m really looking forward to watching it! 02 was my favourite season, but I’m going in without expectations, just to be safe.
Also, looking forward to your ending-explanation video 👍
I walked into the theatre without expectation, still managed to walk out of it disappointed lol
My guess is that the ending will be just be similar to Kizuna, in that it will essentially strongly imply another story needing to take place between this and the epilogue.
It'll be released in cinemas in Brazil too, both dubbed and subbed, and I'm going to watch it! :😃
I’m glad you’re coming to the US to watch the Digimon movie! You deserve it!

I have more important problems in life than spoilers from works that I will never have time for, after all, there are so many of them
I miss the Polish translation of Digimon Ghost Game, but I'm too lazy to learn English, and I don't learn English because I prefer to use my native language so that the language doesn't become extinct.
Only thing I’d really be interested in is some form of Tamers Continuation.
Shoutout to the dad who brought his two little kids and probably scarred them. Just got out and I can say it was a good movie. Does some stuff to the lore that I’m not happy with but man it was good to hear the old dub
Fun fact: In Thai Dub, Some of female character there will be voiced by Anison Singer and Popular Anime Cover Singer MindaRyn
Oh yeah hmm…that’s a little concerning based on that one Japanese fan’s tweet about abuse 🤔 tough to say but your call ultimately !
As a huge digimon fan. This was an awful… digivolving to mega forms and dna digivolving for no reason. Fighting for no reason. Terrible premise.
Im in canada and im sad not to see it in theaters
I am relieved that Daisuke & Co. have returned. 😊
I really enjoyed the movie-it had a darker tone, an intriguing story, and let's be honest, it's clearly aimed at a more mature, older audience. You can't expect it to play out like a children's show, and I feel like that's where most of the negative reviews are coming from.
I have too many thoughts to properly place them here. Gave me some Chiaki J. Konaka vibes though so that was pretty cool.
Man, I really want to see this soon…
I love Daisukes passion for ramen 😍😍 he is soo cute ❤ I am happy that he doesn't change because he is perfect the way he is ❤
Saw the movie last night so good!
Wanna go see this with the other two Digimon fans in Wales.
I will never forgive or excuse any mistakes tri, kizuna or this film make. The only purpose of the midquels is to fill on the gap from the malomyotismon defeat to the 02 ending. Yet they keep half assing it.
Just got back from the film today and it’s a solid 7/10.
As you can see, these 2 digimon anime are on different genres
Finished watched the movie, it's a digimon movie with 02 style of reality. The topic of this movie is about the communication, focus on the new guy relationship with his digimon
Because of miscommunication in the past, it's leading toward a tragic, including his digimon.
So ill watch that now
I really enjoyed it! I thought it was fun!
will it come out in canadian theatresws
Watched it last night, definitely a different style of digifilm, but I enjoyed returning to these characters
I CANT WAIT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Tamers movie next please
This movie was so bad. 02 cast are just side characters in this movie, it’s a drag to get to, over use of 3D in the final “battle” if you could even call that and it completely wrecks the OG story and provides no answers
Damn I’m really sad it’s not going to be in theatres in Canada
Now I am even more excited to see this movie!
Now I want to watch this movie even more... been asking my local theaters if they're gonna screen the movie here in Portugal but still nothing :(
Me too! I am more interested than ever. Sorry to hear your theaters aren't showing it :(
I think it's very likely that cinemas in Portugal will bring the new film like they brought Kizuna. But if it takes as long as Kizuna, then it's best not to rush or watch it in another country or online.
Where can i watch this ????
The remixes for the movie are absolute fire though
Eyyy can't wait!
ain't gonna lie im waiting to see if any torrents of the movie turn up, i will buy it later tough.
I just wanted to see the reactions of the fans that only cared or put Digimon Adventure above many of the other works in the franchise, because I really want to see how people react to the lore of Adventure be completely destroyed to irreparable.
If they manage to create a new movie around Adventure, I'll expect nothing other than being worse than the last.
i’m so hyped to see it in theaters on the 8th or 9th idk what language ima see it in🙏
No Armour Digimon means no Break Up remix I guess.
Okay I am ready for an 03 movie
Anyone think there could an 02 reboot after this movie
Why blame a 4 year old kid for a wish granted 'the wrong way' by an evil, manipulative villain who's 'misunderstood'??
Can’t you stream this anywhere?
Nope maybe in a year or so
As someone that already saw the movie .... well the animation is good, the story as a stand alone is good but as a part of a series is bad like BAD BAD if you are a fan that can put aside its nostalgia and watch it be prepared for a story worst than tri and with bigger retcons than kizuna , but if you are a fan that is just happy to see a new digimon movie you will like it .
My canon is always that these are parallel worlds to the main series.
