Baxter Performance Cartridge Filter Drain-out

  • Engineers agree that most engine wear occurs at engine startup. Engine oil delivery and pressure is the single most important component to mitigate this wear condition.
With the advent of automotive manufactures reverting to cartridge style filters, Baxter Performance has discovered a significant delay in oil delivery and pressure to critical wear components and systems that require oil pressure to function, such as cam chain tensioners and variable valve timing mechanisms.
Using Baxter Performance adapters solve these issues by converting the cartridge style oil filter to a spin-on oil filter that contains an anti-drain back valve for immediate oil delivery at startup.

I just put the Baxter Performance spin on oil filter adapter on my 2019 Tundra 5.7L. It is easy to install, comes with directions and provides recommendations for the type of spin on oil filter to use. It appears to be well made.

Would this help the Cold Start Rattling noise on Toyota Dual VVT-i engine? Thanks in advance.

It definitely helps with the cam phaser rattle by preventing the oil from draining out of them. It gets pressure to the chain tensioners quicker too.

Do you have any videos showing the installation of this? and also which oil filter do you then use? I'd like to do this to my 2020 4runner, but I need to see more on this.

I installed one of these on my 2011 Rav4. Great product. Doesn't leak and doesn't loosen a smidge when removing the filter.

Cartridge filters are the dumbest thing that Toyota has done since I start repairing them in 1989. We had to replace one this week because some gorilla at Iffy Lube thought that they needed 500lb. ft. Of torque on it. They are no more “green” that spin on filters and are a royal pain in the ass to work with. By the way, Toyota charged $55 just for the plastic filter cover.

We agree. No more messing with plastic housings, as well as quicker oil delivery to your engine.

Great. But you didn't actually show the drain out as stated in the title. This "video" is worthless and only an extended advertisement.
