Today on the Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage we will be looking at The AMT 1957 Ford C900 Tractor Model Truck Kit. This is a model kit unboxing video we hope you will enjoy!
The model in this video was bought second-hand and was missing the box and decal sheet, so I can't make a comment about those items.
However, this model kit is well detailed and molded in white plastic, black vinyl plastic for the tires and transparent red plastic for the rear and side marker lights. It does not include a chrome parts tree, so if you want something chromed, you will have to use silver or chrome paint.
The AMT 1957 Ford C900 Tractor Model Truck kit features a wonderful 36 piece Ford 292 & 292HD Y block (1957-1963) which features a two piece engine block, 2 piece transmission, oil pan, galley cover, distributor, governor, front cover, cylinder heads, intake manifold, carburetor, valve covers, breather caps, exhaust manifolds, starter motor, oil filter, oil filter bracket, 2 piece surge tank, 2 piece air compressor, air compressor pulley, alternator, power steering pump, accessory belts, fan, 2 piece air cleaner, intake flange, air horn, and a heater riser.
The wheels consist of six black vinyl tires, singles for the front and duals for the rear. The front wheels are made up of a tire, front wheels and a front wheel outer flange. The rear wheels are made up of two tires, rear wheel flange, rear brake drum, rear wheel spider, and the rear outer wheel flange.
The 10 piece interior of the 1957 Ford C900 Tractor Model Truck by AMT is basic, but wonderful. It starts with an interior tub with floor board, kick panel, and doors molded as one piece. A brake pedal, gas pedal, heater, shift lever, steering column brace, instrument panel, steering column, steering wheel and two bucket seats make up the rest of the interior. You will have fun detailing this wonderful component.
In step 4, the body is turned upside-down and the glass is inserted from the bottom of the cab. The rear cab frame, cab release handle, air intake, pair of cab hinges, pair of cab frames, and the tilt springs mount attach to the assembled interior which also drops into the cab from underneath. The pair of fender wells then glue onto the outer floor edges of the assembled interior.
The cab consists of an optional 2-piece air conditioner and air conditioner grille, five roof lights, 2 air horns, 2 bottom and 2 top mirror braces, 2 mirror connecting brackets, 2 mirror brackets and 2 mirrors, 2 headlight lenses, 2 headlight bezels, 2 sidelights, 2 spotlight lenses and 2 spotlights.
The chassis is the final step and includes two instruction sheet steps : the basic chassis and the final chassis assembly steps. The basic chassis includes a front cross member, front engine mount, middle brace consisting of 3 pieces, brace, rear cross member, left and right frame members, transmission brace, release handles, and cab support.
Once this step is finished, the remaining truck parts are installed to the basic chassis. This includes the 2-piece air tanks, rear springs, 2-piece rear axle, drive shaft, assembled engine, fan shroud, radiator, radiator hose, air brake chambers, rear wheel backing plates, metal axle, rear wheels, steering box, front springs, front shocks, tie rod, front axle, steering linkage, front brake chambers, front wheel backs, axle pins, front tires, licence plate, bumper, muffler tips, mufflers, fuel tank bodies, fuel tank ends, fuel caps, fuel tank braces, battery, fifth wheel mounts, fifth wheel plate, splash guards, tail lights and tail light bezels. The cab then connects to the assembled chassis on the tilt cab pins.

Great looking kit,Trevor. I've always thought that truck had a lovely face. Ford released very similar ones over here. The twin headlamp parts might be better sourced from amt mod rod kit. Very nice looking parts. Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓
Glad you liked the review Pete. I found a whole lot of those quad lights that can be used. Seems like almost every early AMT customizing kit had a version of them somewhere on the chrome parts tree.

I have been building models since 1970 lol . My first one was 1939 ford coupe . I’m still at it . I use to like AMT , they gave you spare engines, tires, and wheels , i still fine some very option models to this day , not often but i snag them
Always good. Check out my engine build videos on this channel. I discovered what all those custom engines are from the AMt Trophy Series kits like the Olds engine found in the 1939 Ford Sedan. (the coupe was a 1940.)
