Gotta love how everyone collectively lose their shit not when he scores, but when he cheers lol. Definitely one of the best character developments I've ever seen in anime
I'm pretty sure they all lose their shit mainly because he blocked him and not because Tsukki cheers. It's just that they had to show Tsukki cheering first because it's a important scene so it looks like they are reacting to Tsukki screaming. In reality, I think both Tsukki and everyone else screamed at the same time. (Not saying necessarily that they didn't notice Tsukki screaming, just saying that him blocking Ushiwaka and winning the second set was probably the main reason)
@@LixienXIII I also understand that the same way. How can no one see that everyone in the public were in shock because they never expected that monster to be blocked by someone who we never thought was going to!? But Tsukki knew better, he finally felt the moment, and the moment he screamed, he snapped everyone out of the shock and they started screaming with him. Everyone was brought back to reality. Heck, even I couldn't close my mouth because of the block, but then I went in the hype because it was actually real. Karasuno had elevated, and the last crow had finally arrived. I always find the same comment of people screaming off of Tsuki's scream, but no lmao. Let's be honest, ever since this Season Started we've been waiting for this Edit: Kei is Tsukki. You probably know this already but in Japan it's respectful to call your equals by their last name. Oikawa calls Kageyama Tobio because Oikawa is Kageyama's Senpai and he considers himself better than Kageyama(on the outside he does, we know he's actually insecure about it). Kei is Tsukki's first name, and his Big Brother's last name is Tsukishima, so since both Tsukishima's are there, Tsukki's older brother just calls Him Kei.
Tsukki: "It was just one block. It was just one point out of 25. This is just a club." Bokuto: "But once that moment arrives for you, that's the moment you'll be hooked on volleyball." Tsukki: SYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA One of the best moment in Haikyuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funnily a harry potter-goblet of fire moment for me. In the manga Tsukishima doesn't say anything, just does the fist pump, while everyone else are the ones going wild and screaming. Tbh I thought that fit his character more than the anime interpretation haha but both are still epic
@@WandernHunger @Wander'nHunger Not a manga reader. Personally, I like this in the anime. How do you not get hooked to the sport when you just blocked a top 5 same age group player in the country and close out a set. I know I would. SYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
@@veralicious. maybe I worded it a bit wrong. I didn't mean that Tsukishima DIDN'T get hooked on that moment. Rather I meant that I thought that him shouting seemed out of character to me. Perhaps I've some personal bias because I have a similar stand-offish, critical personality to him. For me when I experience heightened emotions (really excited/terrified/etc), I go completely silent but my body does the 'talking' for me. Which is similar to how Tsukishima is portrayed in the manga; he does a massive fist pump (same as anime), and there's heaps of tension in his body you can see. His mouth is clenched tight during the internal celebration, and in the bg the rest of the team + audience is going wild with the "YOSHA!". Guess I personally prefer it the manga's interpretation since I react exactly the same when I get something perfect in my own interests (not volleyball ofc). That said, the anime is still goose-bumps worthy. Just was a shock the first time I saw it since I wasn't expecting him to yell hahaha
I loved Tsukki's logic. 1. Ushiwaka is a monster. 2. I can't stop him. 3. But he needs to be set in order to spike. 4. Pressure the setter so he messes up. 5. Force Ushiwaka to spike off a bad set so he's not at 100%. 6. Go HAM.
I find it very fitting that Tsuki's "moment" was specifically related to the strength of his mental game. Aside from it being something he's good at, I think it fits his personality that what really gives him a rush in competition is that feeling of out-smarting someone. About winning against the guy in front of you, and doing it because you got into their head and read them like a book.
sort of a spoiler (so read at your caution) in the later chapters where it's a later match that karasuno plays in, there's a manga panel describing the blocker's sort of character traits for tsukki, he's called *the intelligent blocker*, or *intelligent* really hits home doesn't it
Post Credit/Non-related Preview Dialogue: Saeko: "Tsukki finally stopped Ushiwaka!" Akiteru (*slowly becoming teary*): "Kei usually doesn't show his emotions and is blunt, but he actually works really hard, is kind, and is a really good boy." Saeko: "Who are you, his mother?"
That's the reason why i think it's really sad that he always skips the previews... THEY'RE SO GOOD. I think they're part of story just as much as everything else, not just an extra.
Honestly these little post credit scenes are UNDERRATED. Netlifx finishes an episode without letting it finish to the very ending. (Idk if crunchyroll does the same) but these are seriously funny and im kinda sad that season 4 doesnt have those scenes (unlike from seasons1-3)
I particularly love the part when Tsuki remembers Bokuto saying "When that moment arrives is when you'll be hooked to Volleyball". And obviously the scream and the soundtrack elevates the scene even further. God! I love so much the music in this show
The editing during the closing of this video is * chefs kiss*, I can never get over the shaky camera effect when Tsukki was celebrating. *Fun fact*: Tsukki was the character that the creator, Furudate sensei most wanted to draw making a victorious fist pump. In the manga, however, Tsukishima doesn't scream in celebration after the block, but its a nice addition in the anime! Tsukki's voice actor, Uchiyama Kouki had to think about how to voice his scream too since its so rare for him to be loud 😂
@@AliBaba-hf9jx I didn't know that! Now I understand why he had difficulty voicing Tsukki's scream 😂 both characters are too introverted to even raise their voices. HAHAHA
17:40 The thing is that in Japan doesn't exists the stigma that animation is only for children. There's different target demography for different anime. There's anime targeted to children, to teenagers, and to adults. Haikyuu is in the demography targeted for teenagers, that's why it has a complexity level that you won't find in a kids show
@Caiman Araújo I think the issue with western cartoons is that, while that stigma is going away, the target audiences are still primarily kids. Even with more mature series like Legend of Korra, the overarching themes are usually hampered by a lot of kid-centric jokes and dialogue. There’s very few that really reach the same level of maturity as most teen/adult-oriented anime.
@@crazyscarecrow8136 thats definitely true for most of our animation at this point in time, which makes me so excited for the future. eventually there has to be some masterpieces that will pop up that help break the stigma even more, so hyped to see whats gonna happen
@@crazyscarecrow8136 I slightly disagree. I think there have been quite a few western adult cartoons out there over the years, but when they're more adult, they reeeally lean "adult." Like Archer, Futurama, Venture Bros, Big Mouth, Bojack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, etc. Just not so much middle ground between being for younger children and being very mature in subject matter.
@@pppeachezify a thing that also rarely happen in anime but a lot in the west are the cartoon growing up with their fanbase: Clone Wars and Wakfu for example.
@@pppeachezify I actually was going to mention adult cartoons and erased that bit. I feel for the most part, the "adultness" of these comes more from crass and inappropriate dialogue rather than serious mature storytelling. There are exceptions, like Bojack definitely tackles some very serious subjects and does it extremely well, but they're exclusively comedy shows and we don't have anything close to the level of something like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Monster, or Psycho-Pass. Personally, I believe the biggest difference in the two industries is manga. Most anime is based on an original story written by a single person for a much less financially demanding medium, which allows for a lot more variety. They also have existing fans entrenched in those IPs, so they're easier to invest in. Studios that make original anime are typically only those that have already had a lot of success doing a variety of other series. In contrast, cartoons are mostly original IPs that need to be pitched and approved for US network television and those based on existing IPs are usually game and toy advertisements with original stories. They may start with the vision of a single person, but they almost exclusively need to be written by committee which leads to a lot more uniformity in the industry.
I'm meant to be getting ready to go out for pizza but Coach Donny uploads a reaction to my fave Haikyuu episode and THAT Tsukki moment... guess I'm just gonna have to be 38 mins 14 scs late
Coach, have you ever seen a player like Tsukki get their moment like that where they get hoooked on volleyball? If the answer is yes, as a coach, does it make you emotional?
I think he said during the game with Hyakuzawa back in season2 that one of his favorite moments of coaching is watching players get that moment where they fall in love in volleyball. Also back in season 2 when bokuto talks to tsuki on why they play.
THE MOMENT WE WERE WAITING FOR! All out veins were popping up. I cried my eyes out when I saw that block from Tsukki. He has the best character development in the entire series character wise! :)
I think the thing I enjoy most about Tsukki's roar is his own reaction afterwards at 30:26. He can't believe that he let all that out in front of everybody, and he's embarrassed. I think that's incredibly realistic for more introverted players. He *is* 100% invested in the game, and now that he's experienced his "moment," he doesn't look down on others who give everything to it anymore, either, but he's still Tsukki, and yelling in front of everyone was something he thought he'd never do.
Upping this!!! T E N D O - pronounced with long ou sound. But still sometimes calls him as the horror guy yet I understand Coach on having hard time on remembering names.
Kei is Tsukishima, his full name is Tsukishima Kei. In Japan it's customary to refer to people by their family name, but since it was Akiteru, Tsukishima's brother, talking it would be weird for him to refer to Kei by his surname since they're technically both Tsukishima.
"Kei" is also written with the character 蛍 which means "firefly". His brother's name is written with the characters 明光 which mean "bright light". This also indicative to their relationship, Kei having looked to his brother and bought into his lies, only to get burned.
@@sindri1447 Yea, he also got confused last time when Noya called Tanaka "Ryu", like I think he missed all the times that Tanaka's sister has called him "Ryu", because they're both Tanakas...
I've watched Haikyuu for I don't know how many times now, but every special moment still always gets me emotional especially this one! Tsukki's moment is definitely one of my top best moments in the series--the slow motion, the sound of the ball's impact on Tsukki's hand, the echoes of his block, that look on Ushiwaka's face and Tsukki's exhilirating celebration *chef's kiss* The build up to this very moment and his character development throughout the entire series is just incredible!!
I wouldn’t say Shiratorizawa’s setter and Ushijima tried something new, Karasuno piled on the pressure which led to a bad set. Which Tsukki was able to capitalize on
It’s not entirely specified why he gave a bad set but what makes the most sense imo is that Shiratorizawa’s setter tried setting the ball a little faster to get less blockers on Ushijima (which he did, only 2 instead of 3) which resulted in the set being lower than usual. Ushijima didn’t do anything new but he had to adapt to the bad set.
@@Lucaz99 It was definitely because the setter made a mistake, the foreshadowing all pointed to it. From Tsukki's dialog about piling on frustration and waiting for the moment the setter slipped up. All the facial expressions and subtle "tch" he would make alluded to it as well as the final reaction the setter had to his own set at that moment.
13:10 Tsukki's "Hey." actually means "Hey do you have a second?" Implying he wants to discuss something with him. He wouldn't just say hi to Hinata haha. It is not the same "Hey" as in a greeting.
It wasn't until this episode and him saying "not yet, there are two more points" that I began to understand that Ushiwaka just takes everything literally. And he immediately went from being arrogant and intimidating to adorkable and precious in my eyes.
The extra budget on Tsukki's celebration animation gets me every time. The shaking fist, especially. It easily could have have been a static frame with just his mouth animated, but Tsukki was FINALLY exploding with hype, 2+ seasons' worth of repression, and they drew all of it into that one scene!
I think you misunderstood the reason Tsuki was able to block the last hit at least partially. It is indeed true that this worked because everyone (Hinatas and Kageyamas quicks, all the softblocks, the funneling, the dump from Kageyama etc.) was adding pressure. But the pressure didn´t cause the Shiratorizawa setter to make a different decision intentionally (which i believe is what you thought here) but the want to finally escape the block resulted in a forced mistake in form of a faster set than usual which ended up to low and to close to the net and made even Ushijimas monster spike blockable. Also Tsuki wasn´t just thanking them afterwards for the team effort but he constantly thought about all the pressure they were applying to the setter and patiently waited to punish that one mistake that all of this may - and finally did - result in.
You are not wrong in pointing out that it was Tsukki's blocks that frustrated Shirabu to send that low set to Ushijima. But it is also true that Tsukishima acknowledges the fact that Nishinoya's receives and HInata and Kageyama's minus tempo attacks also contributed to Shirabu wanting to get a clean spike from Ushijima. It is more evident in the manga, where Tsukishima, comparing read blocking and Tendo's guess blocking, states that, while guess blocking is either 120 points or 0 points, read blocking is a 75 point block followed by a 100 point receive.( The 100 point receive here, is Hinata's receive after Tsukishima managed to soft block Ushijima ). This again, is a fantastic juxtaposition of the two clubs and their core values in team building, making this a battle of concepts.
Maybe you didn't noticed Coach Donny, when Tsukki saids "This is just a club", this is from early season two when he refered Karasuno as just a volleyball club, that it wouldn't matter for him in the future, like college and resumé. And he asks Bokuto "why do you do this?" and bokuto explains that everyone has a breakthrough moment that makes you HOOKED on volleyball, for Bokuto he explains was when he started to get really good at line-shots, and he says this will happen to Tsukki, at some point. And this is why that Bokuto flashback apears right before Tsukki started cheering like crazy, because this ONE BLOCK, ONE POINT OUT OF 25, it's the breakthrough moment for Tsukki as a volleyball player, that gets him HOOKED.
Whole Haikyuu fandom were waiting for your reaction on this episode!!! Glad to have your mind blown, Coach! This is one of my fave character development in Haikyuu, and you'll be seeing more of Tsukki's moments later on.
More than the team effort, that part was about acknowledging how tsukki had been paying close attention to the opponents setter (understanding he was the weakness of their game), and patiently waiting for a mistake which he eventually toke advantage of.
I love how coach says “aaahhh he should of swung at it” it’s so funny to me because it just shows that it does feel like a real match coach would say the same when watching the Olympics too and he says it while watching haikyuu and I think tsukki is going to be coach’s favourite season 3 character
8:45 LOL no coach, ushiwaka definitely isn't keeping his team in check and remind them not to celebrate too early, he is simply stating the fact that it isn't a victory yet as they still need two points. Everything Ushiwaka said is what it means *literally*, no extra intentions behind.
EXACTLY! He's written to look like a robot but that also makes him look kinda dumb (to creates an extreme contrast with the cunning and deceiving Oikawa [and other people], and also to make him look like a force of nature, almost inhuman. Furudate uses this writing trick ALL THE TIME).
This moment is what all us Haikyuu fans have been waiting to see Coach react to. What's even more impressive, is that he planned this far ahead. Being just enough of a nuisance to throw off the other teams setter, then luring Ushijima to hit into the gap was pure genius. i love how you can see in Shirabu's eyes at 28:59 that he knew he screwed up his toss. Also, I am pretty sure that flashback moment between Tsukki and Tadashi wasn't actually shown in an episode until this one. Someone can correct me if I am remembering it wrong.
Also the 'luring Ushijima part' was hinted at in hint S2 when Kuroo moved his hand last minute to block Bokuto. Tsukki asked about it afterwards, and so you can see how he has been learning all this while!
The part where Tsukki screams is a favourite 2 page panel of mine in the manga :) You see the block and you see the Bokuto flashback and then you flip the page and you just see him screaming with clenched fists.
I’ve watched this episode multiple times and I still tear up every time. I love that the author allowed for so much build up to this moment because it made the end result so worth it.
In Haikyuu terminology, commit blocking is when you're charged with blocking a particular player, and you follow and jump up with that player while ignoring other factors, so they couldn't use that term to represent 'guess' blocking.
"I was waiting for this fraying caused by slight annoyance and panic" And I was waiting for coach to react to my favourite character in haikyuu getting his shining moment
Tsukki is a great example of "fortune favors the ready." The opportunity presented itself and he was able to see it when it happened and he capitalized on it. I love that in a team that mostly lives in the moment and by the point, Tsukki is there to always be looking at the bigger picture.
I like how coach actually catch the more subtle signs of Tsukki's development like his exchanges with Hinata and the others, all leading up to the moment
Literally all of us that have been here since episode 1 have been waiting for this episode. And Coach DID NOT DISAPPOINT! That was so satisfying! That moment never gets old.
Yes! The different facial expressions and the panning from bottom to top with Ushiwaka for that dominant effect are such great little details! I also appreciate when the anime/manga display different perspectives of serves - front on, close up and stylised, aerial, angled from the bottom, side full-body, angled side half-body, rear, etc. The little details make the story all the more amazing! Thanks for another great reaction video, Coach!
Hey so comment on Tsukishima's "Great Job, King". While it was sort of a compliment, keep in mind the whole King nickname is actually kind of an insult(remember back in season 1, King of the court.) When you read it like that the "Great Job, King" becomes more of a snarky but begrudging compliment, rather than a genuine one which is much more in character.
Think it had positive connotations to it in this case though. He meant it like, as expected from a king rather than the initial negative way he used it.
Finally i have been waiting soooooooo long for this moment, it gives me goosebumps every single time, i love this scene so much because i can relate so much to it

For anime voice actors japenese and English alike it’s a pretty tight knit crowd. A lot of the same people work with each other a lot and get to be in a lot of things. The range of the Japanese voice actors always blow me away in particular they could play a sweet child in one anime and the most terrifying villain in another
god, I can't watch Tsukki's block without getting chills and tearing up. This is my favourite moment in all of Haikyuu (so far, I haven't read the manga) and I have been waiting for your reaction to it since the very beginning!
i love that from every reaction that ive watched from tsukkis block, everyone is more excited about tsukkis celebration more than the block. just to show how everyone believe in tsukki skill, but not his ability to show emotions
This has been a long week! The wait is over! Best goosebump-inducing moment in Haikyuu!!! Love Coach Donny’s reaction 💚 As expected he had goosebumps! Even non-anime fans would feel the importance and satisfaction of watching Tsukki’s moment if they’ve been following the series since season 1 ☺️
The moment coach start being interested on the backstory and character development of Tsukki, I am waiting for this moment. I know that Coach will definitely love Tsukki even more with this episode!
I have been WAITING for you to get to this one, this is my favorite Tsukki moment I absolutely love Tsukki for his way of thinking, this is my favorite episode of the show solely because of him. This is actually the episode that made him my favorite character. I can never get over his thought process, his tenacity and the fact that he stayed so calm and analytical the whole time until his final block and then he immediately snapped back to being analytical.

They were trying to get that manga artstyle so ppl who have been watching all prev 3 seasons think they are not good at all. I will say it again, the animation is still not up to this god tier level but still good enough to get those fluid movements. Its just the freaking artstyle (yes some 2-3 episodes in s4 part two looked way too off but hey its still as entertaining as the rest, just remember they have to produce this detailed series in such difficult times like covid) I just hope coach see this cmmt too instead of all the complaining cmmts about s4.

It's funny how in the last episode, they pointed out that traditional logic doesn't work on Shiratorizawa, and now in THIS episode, Akiteru(Tsukki's brother)says the same about Karasuno
I remember watching the episode for the first time and seeing tsukki get hyped. Chills went up my spine and fast forward to now, it still sends the same spine chilling vibe
I know this is the episode everyone has been waiting for cus of Tsukki's moment, but I just wanna draw attention to how Kageyama always goes for the revenge dump. I just find it funny how every time (or at least most of the time), whenever the opponent setter dumps, Kageyama does it right back
This moment is no doubt one of my favorite scenes in the anime, because I felt Tsukishima when he felt inferior even to Hinata back in Season 2. But seeing him rise up and even be able to get that one big moment, it really boosted my motivation to work harder as I also play sports and specialize on defense! I saw one comment on a Haikyuu Video once regarding what Bokuto said about how we will get hooked to volleyball once we get that one moment, said that it also doesn't only apply to volleyball. I personally felt so proud seeing Tsukishima develop from not getting too involved in this sport to wanting to be a part of it through good and tough times, and that he showed how being calm, level-headed, and analytic can make a difference like to your plays and decision-making. And we could all learn something from this! I also loved your outro Coach! It was so perfectly timed with Tsukishima's celebration
I never cry at any media, but for some reason Tsukki's reaction to his block always brings a tear to my eye. Having the most unemotional player display such raw feeling and finally have THAT MOMENT invokes such a powerful reaction in me. Best scene in the whole of Haikyuu in my opinion

6. Go HAM.
I think this is my fave comment
The episode we have all been waiting for
For ages
just yes
BRO!! I M SAYINF THE SAME THING
Makes me tear up no matter* how many times I watch it
Actually the Episode I'm most hyped for the Coach to watch is from Season 4... Maybe someone will know what episode or episodes I'm talking about.
Love this assessment.
sort of a spoiler (so read at your caution)
in the later chapters where it's a later match that karasuno plays in, there's a manga panel describing the blocker's sort of character traits
for tsukki, he's called *the intelligent blocker*, or *intelligent*
really hits home doesn't it
I love the fact people got way more excited when Tsukki showed some emotions than about that block
i really loved that "soul-scream" from tsukki. like all his doubts, frustrations and resentment all came out from that scream. what a development! 😁
Post Credit/Non-related Preview Dialogue:
Saeko: "Tsukki finally stopped Ushiwaka!"
Akiteru (*slowly becoming teary*): "Kei usually doesn't show his emotions and is blunt, but he actually works really hard, is kind, and is a really good boy."
Saeko: "Who are you, his mother?"
Upping this.
@@keitiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii same

That's the reason why i think it's really sad that he always skips the previews... THEY'RE SO GOOD. I think they're part of story just as much as everything else, not just an extra.
Honestly these little post credit scenes are UNDERRATED. Netlifx finishes an episode without letting it finish to the very ending. (Idk if crunchyroll does the same) but these are seriously funny and im kinda sad that season 4 doesnt have those scenes (unlike from seasons1-3)
"Come on, Normal Guy, say something."
_Damn,_ that Tsukishima-level savagery is something else 😂
I particularly love the part when Tsuki remembers Bokuto saying "When that moment arrives is when you'll be hooked to Volleyball". And obviously the scream and the soundtrack elevates the scene even further.
God! I love so much the music in this show
Now the wait for “him” to sink one level deeper😁
@@trentward2725 ahh! the piton scene, that will be epic.
@@trentward2725 I like what you did thereee
The editing during the closing of this video is * chefs kiss*, I can never get over the shaky camera effect when Tsukki was celebrating. *Fun fact*: Tsukki was the character that the creator, Furudate sensei most wanted to draw making a victorious fist pump. In the manga, however, Tsukishima doesn't scream in celebration after the block, but its a nice addition in the anime! Tsukki's voice actor, Uchiyama Kouki had to think about how to voice his scream too since its so rare for him to be loud 😂
Man this voice actor is the same as Meruem in HxH!
This scream means a lot for this actor
Coach Donny: "Remembers Tendo's name"
Me: 😭😭I'm so proud of him!
Upping this!!! T E N D O - pronounced with long ou sound. But still sometimes calls him as the horror guy yet I understand Coach on having hard time on remembering names.
Coach Donny : Remembers Tendou’s name
Also Coach Donny : Proceeds to call him Zombie for the rest of the episode
😂
@@nirin8993 That was funny
30:29 coach did you notice that Nishinoya is biting Tsukki 😂😂
Nishinoya likes biting things! He was biting a piece of paper in S2 when his teacher was giving out the exam papers lol. He is so funny xD
hungry boi XD
"at that monent.. you'll be hooked on volleyball". Goosebumps everytime.
Kei is Tsukishima, his full name is Tsukishima Kei. In Japan it's customary to refer to people by their family name, but since it was Akiteru, Tsukishima's brother, talking it would be weird for him to refer to Kei by his surname since they're technically both Tsukishima.
Been trying to tell Coach this for weeks now 😅
"Kei" is also written with the character 蛍 which means "firefly". His brother's name is written with the characters 明光 which mean "bright light". This also indicative to their relationship, Kei having looked to his brother and bought into his lies, only to get burned.
Coach need to read this, like it more
@@sindri1447 Yea, he also got confused last time when Noya called Tanaka "Ryu", like I think he missed all the times that Tanaka's sister has called him "Ryu", because they're both Tanakas...
Which Tsukki was able to capitalize on
yeah that's what I interpreted as well.
@@GenoCideWalk yeah he made a mistake caused by stress, in sports you call that a forced error. But that’s still very much in line with what I said.
The one I’ve been looking forward to the most. Tsukishima’s big moment, getting hooked on Volleyball.
Bokuto must be proud of him as well
13:10 Tsukki's "Hey." actually means "Hey do you have a second?" Implying he wants to discuss something with him.
Hes the embodiment of shiratorizawa strong and basic to a fault

King of Salt finally blocks him, one of my most favescene next to a scene in S4 that made me almost bawl my eyes out.
I think I can guess what made you bawl your eyes out and I’m not going to say it as I respect that noone should be spoiled.
I bawled my eyes out for that scene tooo!!!
I like how all of us know what scene you’re talking about LOL
Suga agrees.
same here!
30:15 That sigh of excitement from coach Donny is EVERYTHING
More than the team effort, that part was about acknowledging how tsukki had been paying close attention to the opponents setter (understanding he was the weakness of their game), and patiently waiting for a mistake which he eventually toke advantage of.
I love how coach says “aaahhh he should of swung at it” it’s so funny to me because it just shows that it does feel like a real match coach would say the same when watching the Olympics too and he says it while watching haikyuu and I think tsukki is going to be coach’s favourite season 3 character
I love the moment Tsukki remembers Bokuto saying: That's the moment you will be hooked on volleyball. The moment finally came for him!!!
8:45 LOL no coach, ushiwaka definitely isn't keeping his team in check and remind them not to celebrate too early, he is simply stating the fact that it isn't a victory yet as they still need two points. Everything Ushiwaka said is what it means *literally*, no extra intentions behind.
He unintentionally keeps his team in check because of his stiff and rigid personality where he takes everything literally though.
EXACTLY! He's written to look like a robot but that also makes him look kinda dumb (to creates an extreme contrast with the cunning and deceiving Oikawa [and other people], and also to make him look like a force of nature, almost inhuman. Furudate uses this writing trick ALL THE TIME).
himbo king
The part where Tsukki screams is a favourite 2 page panel of mine in the manga :)
You see the block and you see the Bokuto flashback and then you flip the page and you just see him screaming with clenched fists.
I’ve been waiting for this reaction! Tsukki is my favorite character and very relatable to me. Seeing him so fired up got me emotional
I LOVE how real Tsukkis reaction is!! It took 3 seasons to see him develop and it feels amazing!! I've never seen that real of a growth before
"I was waiting for this fraying caused by slight annoyance and panic"
And I was waiting for coach to react to my favourite character in haikyuu getting his shining moment
I've always loved that they give the Bokuto flashback voiceover right as Tsuki gets ready to cheer and enjoy his moment!
Tsukki is a great example of "fortune favors the ready." The opportunity presented itself and he was able to see it when it happened and he capitalized on it. I love that in a team that mostly lives in the moment and by the point, Tsukki is there to always be looking at the bigger picture.
I LOVE coach's reaction to Tsukki's tuff block. I've been waiting for that for ages! Definitely one of my fave scenes in Haikyuu
It's here! So fulfilling and validating seeing Coach recognise the brilliant moment Tsukishima cheers! We have been waiting for this episode from s1.
This episode is very well-directed.. I still getting goosebump everytime I watch Tsukki's blocking scene
One of my FAVORITE episodes!!!
Nah, he's just used to calling him King. There really wasn't all that much begrudgingance at all, he was very obviously happy with what Kageyama did.

The range of the Japanese voice actors always blow me away in particular they could play a sweet child in one anime and the most terrifying villain in another
this is why I call this "TSUKKI'S SEASON" lol
I've been waiting for this one moment the whole year you've been reacting

NOOOOOO SEASON 4 ANIMATION IS STILL GOOD< THE MOVEMENTS ARE STILL GOOD> its just that the art style changed that throw off ppl.

I know this is the episode everyone has been waiting for cus of Tsukki's moment, but I just wanna draw attention to how Kageyama always goes for the revenge dump. I just find it funny how every time (or at least most of the time), whenever the opponent setter dumps, Kageyama does it right back
He is so petty like that *squishes the angry little blueberry* xD
the momnet tsukki fell in love with volleyball, was the moment we all fell in love with him
This moment is no doubt one of my favorite scenes in the anime, because I felt Tsukishima when he felt inferior even
to Hinata back in Season 2. But seeing him rise up and even be able to get that one big moment, it really boosted
my motivation to work harder as I also play sports and specialize on defense! I saw one comment on a Haikyuu Video once
regarding what Bokuto said about how we will get hooked to volleyball once we get that one moment, said that it also doesn't
only apply to volleyball. I personally felt so proud seeing Tsukishima develop from not getting too involved in this sport to wanting
to be a part of it through good and tough times, and that he showed how being calm, level-headed, and analytic can make a difference like to your plays and
decision-making. And we could all learn something from this!
I also loved your outro Coach! It was so perfectly timed with Tsukishima's celebration
this episode never gets old; always gets me excited every time
I never cry at any media, but for some reason Tsukki's reaction to his block always brings a tear to my eye. Having the most unemotional player display such raw feeling and finally have THAT MOMENT invokes such a powerful reaction in me. Best scene in the whole of Haikyuu in my opinion
