I see I'm not the only one running over here with tears in my eyes because of Twoset Violin latest announcement. I'm so glad to see you are still here with us Ray ❤ I'm going to miss Twoset so much😔
Nodame Cantabile is probably the ideal anime for you both that has true-to-playing animation as well! Recommend checking out the List of Nodame Cantabile episodes on Wikipedia to see what pieces are featured. Out of the first season: Episode 2 has Beethoven's Spring Violin Sonata Episode 10 & 11 has Rach 2, which I'm sure David will find the contrasting interpretations interesting. Episode 15 has Elgar's E Minor Violin Sonata Episode 21 & 22 has a piano competition with an improvisation of Stravinsky's Petrushka There's many more in Season 2 and Season 3. I hope you both enjoy watching!
La saison 2 se déroule au conservatoire de Paris et c'est tellement touchant de retrouver tout l'intérieur des bâtiments dessinés avec tellement de précision lorsqu'on y a étudié
The way you both dubbed over the piece was ELECTRIC. Beethoven often has this consistency and measured pace, but when you both played, it really did feel like the original anime! it was strong, powerful, dynamic, and emotional. If you had told me that this was the recording for the actual anime, I would have 100% believed it
the girl from the first one at the very beginning is such an accurate representation of like random people when i talk to them about classical music😭😭😭
This was such a fun time watching someone get converted to the anime side!! David's commentary is so insightful and his honesty is so charming. My new favorite duo!!! I hope we can see more of him in the future :)
I'm so sad because Twoset suddenly deleted so many TH-cam videos, including the ones with you!!! 😭Oh my gosh, I'm your big fan, and I have only watched their videos that were made with you. I hope everything is going well for you. And I will wait for your next's new video.
I'm also here cuz of TwoSet. Since it doesn't seem like they will b posting regularly again just yet due 2 working on their rebranding I wanted 2 find something else 2 watch & noticed Chen's response video addressing TwoSet's comments on his "flash concert" videos.
As a fellow musician , I FEEL GOOSEBUMP 100% with this version of you and the pianist playing. OMG!!! CANT GET THIS ENOUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR CHEMISTRY WITH THE PIANIST IS VERY DEMURE TwT , please do collab with him in the future.. omgggggg
OMG!!! This one is toip tier!! I also love "Forest of Piano". They use some 3d animations sometimes too, so I'm not gonna say it is as accurate or more inaccurate, Im not sure. But all of the musical emotions and feeling is there, and its CHOPIN!!! loved ;-;
This brings back memories of early April of 2024 this year!! I watched You lie In April, and when I saw this video, it just melted my heart- motivating me to practice my violin and piano more. Thank You Ray! :D
@@jh.y00N The one who is disciplined from a young age and the one who is born with talent. It's funny how playing the piano transports some people to the ocean, or to the forest... it's something different to see.
@@HonneySantos1Yes. You're right. Kai and Shuhei's friendship is also touching, and I personally think Kai's performance at the end is a masterpiece.👍🏻✨🩷
Hey Ray I think this is one of my favourite videos of yours so far! The comments on the film are funny and comedic; and your and David's cover of the piece is breathtakingly beautiful. Hope to see you collab more often!
This was very fun to watch 😊 Always a delight to watch videos related to Your Lie in April AND appreciation of classical music in modern media/entertainment
This is so cool. I love this anime for many reasons but the music is so good. My cousin has a masters in music and has played all over the world and this is one of the few anime she actually enjoys.
Yes Ray, you just have to love it. You bring so much joy into people's hearts. Your face and your facial expressions, awesome😁👀👍 Thanks for your videos😍
Your Lie in April got me playing piano again for the first time in 25 years, and I am enjoying it so much! It was so well done and got me reminiscing about my lessons as a child.
omg first time I see a video from your channel, I found it by chance, this anime is one of my favorites without a doubt and I'm not a musician or anything... but I loved the reaction and the challenge, very fun! greetings from Argentina
Your Lie in April is one of my favorite music drama anime that I highly recommend . Your facial expressions was cracking me but I thought that was awesome. I use to over dub animated movies to practice voice over work but music is another level😉. You guys are awesome.
This is really amazing! Id love to see more. I don't know anything about music. I love this anime. I always wanted to see someone play the violin like Kaori.
OH il est français ! J'adore quand il lâche de façon random des mots français x) Sympas la vidéo, je pensais pas que c'était aussi réaliste cet animé !
All of the piano comments in here made me laugh so hard 🤣 IT’S SO TRUE. Also, it only took me performing my entire repertoire at 10 different rest homes for practice before my college audition to get over that kind of nervousness that sometimes causes those mess ups haha. So, do not despair, you don’t always have to get up to 100 performances to get over that 😂
OMG I literally cried when you played Beethoven at your recitals so I asked my teacher if I can play a Beethoven sonata too. He asked me to play Spring. It’s a real challenge for me coz I’ve only learned violin for 2 years! Ray, you’re so good! I’ll work hard and practice!!! ❤
I think this is my first time on this guy's channel. As someone who used to play guitar and bass, and dabbled a bit on organ and keyboard, I don't really get these kind of competition where you have to do 1:1 replica of the original. In my honest opinion, you can't become the best if you're just trying to imitate another person, the first step is to become the best version of you. If you felt very strong emotion on a certain part if of the song, then show it. I love and enjoyed your dubbing challenge, it made me want to hold my guitar again after 2 weeks of not playing it, and about to tune it now after sending this comment.
Hello! you could watch The Blue Orchestra (Ao no Orchestra) ; it is centered on violin playing, but the piano and other instruments will also be present ( it is obvious from the title); for piano / orchestra you could watch Takt OP. Destiny.
Dear Ray Chen, We have a request. Can you please talk to twosetviolin and tell us what is going on? Because they had very big and exciting projects coming up and suddenly they said they are quitting. Please try talk to them and let us know what is happening. This is a humble request. Thankyou Sincerely A twosetter and your fan
I am trying to learn this piece, so thank you, thank you for showing us your fingerings for the opening!! Now I just need to get better at chords, lmao
Hi Ray, I've really been enjoying going through your videos, keep up the good work, wish you all the best. I have a request/suggestion for future videos, if it appeal to you as well. I would love it if you could create more subjective lists of your favorite works, so that I, and others, might try them out as well. This can extend to other instruments, like piano pieces/concertos, possibly with your classical music buddies, like David Kadouch here. The "tierlist" model is an excellent way for people without classical music knowledge to get acquainted with classic music, and your insights as a professional on what you value and what to look out for elevates the experience. That said, the criteria for ranking has always been "difficulty", this is the case for other creators on TH-cam as well. Different criteria, like enjoyability, or themes, would be cool. Just my 2 cents.
Gratz! so fun! really so fun, In the same anime you just watch and played, would you play both of you again in the scene with Arima and Kaoru playing together?
There are some specific performances I would love to see a reaction!! It was soo interesting to watch a professional react and play.I want the- The 'rondo capriccioso' one, 'wrong note' one, the 'liebeslied' episode and ofcourse the climax performance 'ballade no. 1' reactions please
Now I need the reaction to all the episodes of your lie in April
YESSSS!!! We need to see David react to all episodes!! He's going to love all of the performances!
yesssss
be prepared. its a heartbreaking story.
frrrrrrr rightt?
Do you want just to see people cry ? 😂
Now I need to see David cry at the final performance
Strongly agreed 👍
Can't watch that reaction, i will cry too 😔

I second this. Both "Your Lie in April" and "Nodame Cantabile" are great places to start with classical music in anime.
La saison 2 se déroule au conservatoire de Paris et c'est tellement touchant de retrouver tout l'intérieur des bâtiments dessinés avec tellement de précision lorsqu'on y a étudié
Nodame cantabile is really the start!!! They have both the Japanese anime Japanese drama and Korean remake drama. Such a classic show
Would also recommend "Kids on the Slope" which features someone of classical background exploring Jazz.
I would say Nodame and YLIA are more of David's forte too since both shows focus on the journey of the pianist, with some company of violinist.
The way you both dubbed over the piece was ELECTRIC. Beethoven often has this consistency and measured pace, but when you both played, it really did feel like the original anime! it was strong, powerful, dynamic, and emotional.

Thank you for bringing David on! I love his content even though I'm a beginner pianist. The way he said "kawaii" was adorable in the French accent.

It's crazy good to hear you played the piece together tq. Please recreate the other performance from this show

David can watch "Nodame Cantabile", it's also very good. I also recommend "Sakamichi no Apollon" (English title: Kids on the Slope), it's jazz tho.
Oo yea, nodame is also a pianist right?
@@siekensou77 Yes, a very quirky and talented one
