You mentioned one time that making a pair of shoes was always an aspiration of yours. Thanks for sharing it with us. I knew you wouldn't have a problem doing it! They look great!
I just saw the video of turning a stitch down shoe to Goodyear welted 4 years ago then saw this one where he's making it out of scratch in the video he said maybe once he's retired he would make shoes ig he's doing it now and with great quality too 👏
Need boots make your own, I mean how many people can do that? You’re not just a shoe repair person you are a top level Cobbler and have proven that once again. Thanks for your videos
Okay, Hammer time boot company, let’s go!!!! Might be the best video you ever made. Really enjoyed the filming of the stitching, that takes some real craft and skill. Hope you keep making shoes in the future. Nice looking belt too! Also, give those Indy’s a brush man 😂😂
This man is a supreme craftsman and an artist. A joy to watch random comments: beautiful leather. 11:04 - ooh that's a nice sewing shot. Two tone stitching is brilliant Steve is a magician with a basic hardware store utility knife Judging by the materials used, these custom-made Iron Rangers will long outlast the Red Wing versions.
How many people have already begged and pleaded for their own custom boots from Steve?! How many people are sad that Steve will never be able make them such a special pair?!!! Amazing, Steve!!!
I remember as you were saying you are not a shoemaker , you only repair them. That you never learnt it from your Father. This proove you wrong, thank you for this amazing new year gift and am sure your Father is proud of you watching from above. Can't wait to see what else you master this year . 😊😊
I used to get my repair work done by a custom boot maker that sadly retired. I’d see all the boots on their lasts when I dropped mine off. Then many of them would be at the point when the last was removed when I picked mine up. I always missed the part where the last was removed. The mystery continues. Damn. That throw away buckle was riveted on. I guess not everyone swaps out buckles on a regular basis.
These boots have always been special to me. My father was a longshoreman for 35 years after he came back from Vietnam. The steel-toe Iron Ranger was his work boot of choice for his entire career…up to his retirement. You did an amazing job on these and brought back so many memories! Thanks Steve! 24:40 La Vie en Rose…I love that song!
We watch Mr. Doudaklian for his colourful commentary and insight. When he speaks, the viewer feels as if he's carrying on a conversation. He's like Mr. Rogers, only less creepy.
Considering all your leather wizardry I've watched over the years, I'm actually surprised you haven't done this sooner, especially after seeing you create those masterpieces. Bravo!
Pops be smiling' right now and sayin': 'Das m'boy right 'dere!!" Nicely done Steve. I bet I know what your spawn get for Christmas when their hooves are done growing. The break-in begins getting that footbed just right. Try slathering a load of Bick4 all over the inside. It made break-in of all my AEs a lot quicker with that leather softened up a tad.
Humbly, I think your Dad and brother would be super proud of the work. Your mix of art and artisan is a rare combo, and, combined with exquisite taste, is killer. Thanks for posting and looking forward to next year's projects.
If they weren't so beautiful they'd make me want to unretire and go back to work! But this old ironworker would never wear boots THAT beautiful to work. You sir are now "dressed to the nines." Happy New Year Steve and all the viewers. 🎉
The belt and shoes you made are very handsome! Nice thread colors and leather choice! Your Christmas gift to yourself? Heck yeah! Let’s continue! Hugz, Tree
These boots remind me of my first US Navy boots 🥾 made by Bates! So awesome to see you build a pair from scratch, so awesome to see you work for the past few years 🎉! Thank for sharing your passion for 👞 shoes, hammers, watches, and coffee! ☕️ …and for inspiring Dan at the Tring’s in England 🏴
This is super-neat. Thanks for sharing it all... though I had to fill in my own "hammer time" and "let's continues" :P ... nbd, such a pleasure. I'm curious to know how they break in, actually. Congrats!
WELL ! I have seen a lot of your work as your videos are regular viewing of mine. Thus I know that these are top of the line as they bear your family name. You must be proud and you should be proud as do do world class work and it comes from great heritage through your father. PLUS it is never bragging when it is true. Keep those inspiring videos coming .
Steve is on another fucking level... I will never stop watching. I am going to make something out of leather. Just a little card holder out of an old pair of leather gloves. Thanks for what you do brother.
Your Dad would be proud of this pair as I"m sure you made him when he was here. I also worked with my father and even though I retired some years back still seek his approval in my mind, he made me the craftsman and man that I am today. Great video and work but missed your commentary❤
Fabulous! Excellent work, the next step is to work on individual models and sizes of consumers. In our area they say - experience is the son of difficult mistakes! This means that the master also made mistakes, but reached his level!
Nice! Love the matching belt, but was disappointed there was no "triggering/knife sharpening" to go along with the ASMR 🤣. Happy New Year Steve.....see ya in '24.
I always thought that real cobblers like yourself would make the best of shoes which were brilliantly showcased in this video. Excellent work as always and I can see that your lasting skills are getting better as well.
Wow!!! Steve you may have just outdone yourself sir. This color combo and with a matching belt; come on man save something for the rest of us! I love working with leather but see why now I can’t be a shoe/boot maker. I would be making myself boots all of the time. lol Awesome work and craftsmanship, I am truly impressed by your work, skill, and attention to details when crafting/working! So looking forward to my DC trip this upcoming year to come see your shop and hope to get a few minutes to visit with you and the crew. Hope you all have an amazing New Year! Best wishes, Walter
Let's continue 👍

You Sir are an extremely talented craftsman.
It's good to know people like you still exist and proudly work.
Another Great Job 👏👏

The best "project" yet!. I wouldn't want to have your inbox after this video!
All the best in 2024.
You got me, I did not expect stitch down construction OR the belt. I really enjoyed the video, you made functional art. Nice work.
Humbly, I think your Dad and brother would be super proud of the work. Your mix of art and artisan is a rare combo, and, combined with exquisite taste, is killer. Thanks for posting and looking forward to next year's projects.
