      Glad you’re finding them helpful, Malayali! I don’t know if I have any one particular movie that stands out as having the “best structure,” but Source Code actually sticks out for me as an example of using this structure creatively.

    I love your videos! Binged them all at once! Maybe you can do Mean Girls, The Silence of the Lambs (personal fav) or maybe you can show some bad examples or movies that do not quite follow the three aft structure? Thanks!

    Hi, Can you plz tell me what the Graph represents here? If it's the Hero's journey, then the entire Act 2 should be downwards no ? Because all she does is Try and fail until midpoint (Downwards); and then fail more Rolling down the hill (again Downwards). What are the things that made the Graph rise from Act 2 beginning to the midpoint? Don't know if I missed something here.

    • @ClassActFilmSchool
      @ClassActFilmSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Shivadeep -- you didn't miss anything! That's a great observation. For me, the curves in the graph are more just my brain's way of visualizing the delineation between sections. No two stories are the same, so depending on the story being told, that section you're referring to (first part of Act 2, "building up" to the midpoint) might actually be a total downer where the hero just fails the whole time. It all depends on the type of thing you're trying to make -- the rules only exist so we can break them!

    Would love to see story structures of the highly paid blockbuster writers in the past and now, the likes of shane black, tony gilroys n all.
    Also the ones who have publicly made fun of the three act and still found success like the coens. These things could spice up your channel for good. Waiting!!

    Sir where is the "Catalyst" and "Rising action"???
    Please mention it next time. 🙏

    • @AlexRider589

      Inciting incident.

    • @ClassActFilmSchool
      @ClassActFilmSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, Shaan -- I think @JRM598 has it pinned down below, I typically just define "catalyst" with the phrase "inciting incident." And similarly, the "rising action" in this case would be the first two sections of Act 1 (on the way toward the Midpoint).

    Do the writers actually think this way when writing a screenplay?
