I was contacted by the scammers you talked about in the beginning of this video. I didn't go through with it. They even got mad at me in the end because when I suspected a scam, I kept them on the hook for hours, just to waste their time.

What I cannot wrap my head around is how w it is that a platform can worry itself with punishment of people who use a common word or term, or discuss some ideology but are unable (or unwilling) to disallow thieves to target their users with aplomb.
If you take the step to try and report it there isn't even a choice for "scam" or "false offer" or anything resembling such.
    Thank you for the info

It's been a great hauling a Fatboy 66 years old now. Like I said she's getting old but a good old machine. I've been reporting those comments for a long time, and the ones on FB where they create a page with a generic international business name, no contact or location, ask for shares and "give away" surplus inventory within hours of creating the page. I see thousands of people falling for these ones.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I fell victim to one of these scams. It was for a pricey helmet that was part of a randomly chosen submitted comment. Just like you stated, there was a fairly high shipping charge that I was asked to submit via PayPal. I should have known when I was informed the fee had to be paid with the "Friends and Family" option that has no additional PayPal fees, but offers no buyer protection. Needless to say, I lost $49 but after submitting a detailed dispute letter, PayPal stated I would be refunded but I still had to inform my bank linked to my account to freeze the funds. This temporarily locked me out of using PayPal and I had to change all my passwords. Lesson learned.

I 'bought' an eBike for $160 from China as an experiment, they had a very slick website and they even provided a legitimate tracking number. They kept the description simple and it was a very basic eBike with a modest battery and a low rated motor, so the price seemed more plausible that you *might* be able to buy the parts wholesale in China.
The first red flag was that the >80Kg eBike was listed on the tracking site as weighing

I fell for a scammer company once from a ad on Facebook. They were showing a folding electric mobility scooter for a ridiculously low price that was about $40. It was supposed to be a Walmart sale offer. So, I opted to buy two scooters. I used my debit card and once the transaction went through a confirmation was sent to my email stating they would notify me once the items were shipped. I decided to look online to find out if Walmart was having this sale since the transaction from the debit card didn't mention Walmart but another company. So, I contacted my bank to check into this and they found that this company, Frelistr fraudulently scammed others and thankfully my bank reversed the transaction money I paid and I reordered a new debit card. Hopefully I've learned my lesson. If it sounds too good to be true... It probably is.

Keep 5 gallon buckets full of dirt, pour dirt on ebike battery on ground, if it is on the bike put bike on ground sideways n cover batteries with dirt as best as you can
Or maybe keep 5 gallon or whatever else containers full of water, put in bike battery in water fully submerged, but this might be hard cause not wise to pick up battery when smoking or on fire
if battery still in bike this wont work
Keep battery smothered for awhile cause batteries can unite again even though they might seemed to be put out
After battery seems to be fully out, get it out doors in a safe spot n let sit for a day then throw it out

I would be interested in Micah’s take on used lithium ion cells sold as new batteries. How big is the problem? I bought three 36 volt 20 amp ebike batteries. Only one battery regularly charges to the full 42.1 volts. The other two only charge to 41.3 volts and this is from the same vendor. When batteries do not charge to the full voltage, are they still reliable or is the low voltage an indication of future headaches with these products? I’m running a dual battery system and this is why I’m concerned about the voltage difference so I installed a battery equalizer module. It means one battery is doing all the work at the start of a ride until it drops down to 41.3 volts then they both share the work load. I find the top speed on static tests (wheel off the ground) increases full throttle speed with the module.

Scammers are hitting all large creator channels.
The problem specific to ebike companies usually starts with some kakameme cover story they put on their home page so that a newcomer would trust them and buy their product…
They usually send free bikes to reviewers who know nothing about bicycles or ebikes.
You have no idea if these companies will even be around to support their product in the months to come…
    Very sad 😞
I would pay a bit extra for a reputable brand and avoid these ‘here today gone tomorrow’ companies with no actual presence in North America 🇺🇸

The ebike companies themselves can be scammish. I've read posts where Himiway wanted $99 to ship a warranty part that should have cost maybe $15 to ship and it was cheaper for them just to have the bike fixed at a local repair shop. I have a Himiway and am still waiting on the racks that I ordered with the bike in August. They last said October which is basically gone. I hope I never have a warranty claim with HImiway. And they're weird too, they say no dealers on their website and it seems like they're signing up dealers all over the place.

I've got a question, Micah. I have a 2018 RadWagon with almost 12K miles on 2 Rad batteries of the same age. Roughly 240 charge cycles on each one if my math is right. 12000 divided by 25 miles average range per battery is 480 cycles, divided by 2 to get each battery's count of 240. There were some throttle-only days as well as times where I tested the weight capacity so I'd get 15 miles per battery. So probably closer to 300 cycles each. I'd like to siamese the batteries with a Y connector so I don't have to swap them as well as putting less stress on the cells when under load. Also, the mounting cradle electrical connection went bad some time ago and Rad was unable/unwilling to sell me a spare. Parts shortage perhaps, I don't know. I had a 24 Ah triangle pack with an XT60 connector for my Dolomite/BBSHD bike so I modified the Rad batteries to use XT60s, too, so then I had 52 Ah available for either bike.
What I'm asking is what numbers should I be looking for to determine if it's safe. If when both are fully charged and they both show 54.3 volts, then I should be good? Or is there another factor to check? I understand your liability and I'm not seeking a do it/don't do it. Just don't want to set my girl on fire.

Yes exactly, you want to make sure they are at the same voltage when you plug them together. The easiest way to is only plug them together in parallel when at fully charged. And don’t parallel the two 48V packs with the 52V triangle pack.

@@EbikeSchool Thanks. Actually the triangle is a 48 volt pack but it dead at the moment, maybe permanently. I might have run it for a few thousand miles after I crunched the BMS against the seat tube and bypassed it. Had to be paranoid about charging but it worked until it didn't.
