Give it a shot! I must stress if you ever try it, do NOT use the rolls of pex tubing. Paint will not adhere to it. Buy the single straight pieces. I had some people reach out with this issue. Good luck and thanks for watching! 🤘🏻💀
@@DanMiller1168 My original intent was to build a fence using PVC a few years ago…Home Depot didn’t have enough out on the floor at the time so I thought I’d give the PEX a try and so glad I did. Looks much more realistic IMO. Good luck and keep me updated! 🤘🏻💀
I heard you say that you use wood posts to stand up your fence. You could also use rebar stakes in the ground, and seat your pex tubes over the top for more stability. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm going to use some of this idea on my display next year. ❤ 🎃
Hey Jamie, thanks for the great tutorial! I just got done building 50 ft of fence today and it looks great so far! Question: i can't get the paint to stick to the PEX at all! Tried latex paint and it just scratches right off, also tried HDX pain and primer spray paint, but that just flaked off as soon as I dried. Going to try and sand with 220g tomorrow, it's just so many bars 😭..Any suggestions?? Thanks again!
Update: reading through all the comments I see someone else asked this exact question! You mentioned you used "quick color", When I search for that in the HD app I just get the HDX spray paint, is that what you used? If so, was it the one without primer? Maybe that's why I'm getting a different result 🤔
@@crazyjoezx someone else a while back mentioned the paint issue. Very odd. I had no problems painting mine. I’ve made a bunch of them. After spraying, I left for a good few hours or more. Are you spraying coats too heavy possibly?
I was going to do a PVP fence for this year. I have about a 120ft fence I am making, was thinking a pole every foot. If I go with the 5Ft pole like I planned that's about a 300 Ft spool, my worry is since I am not getting it already straight are they hard to straighten. Or should I just bit like double the cost and go with PVC.
I got 3 of the 100ft spools for my fence since it was cheaper and they didn't have enough precut. The guy at HD said it would straighten out, but that was a lie. I left all 300ft unrolled and made it as straight as I could in the south FL heat for a few days, but as soon as I cut them into the 40in bars they curved back up. I ended up adding a 2nd "top bar" 4in down from the main one. This helped it straighten out a little bit but the bars are in no way "straight", but it does add to the spookyness so I'm fine with it. I'll try to post a pic here to give you an idea of how it looks

@@timcoulson7340 thanks for the question. I use what is called “quick color” spray paint. It’s super cheap at Home Depot, it’s a flat black paint. @@Lady_of_Ishpeming awesome dude! Actually, the pex will not fit over rebar like the PVC does. It has a slightly smaller diameter than the PVC 🫤
@@NewEnglandHaunter Use a smaller rebar😉 The orange box store carries it as small as ⅛". You can find it in the threaded rebar section.
@@Lady_of_Ishpeming great to know!!! Thanks for the info
I like the rebar idea, but how do you use the wood posts?
@@dennmarkk I would use a wood stake….a couple feet long…pound into the ground on the “inside” of the fence and zip tie or screw the fence to that
Thanks, great job

What’s the estimated cost per panel?
@@SacramentoIsaac Good question. Here in CT it’s around $30 per panel

Drill press makes quicker work but hand tools work too
Absolutely! I originally was going to use my press for this, but was trying to make it as basic as possible :)
Drill press is great unless the strapping you acquire is crappy (I couldn’t get good stuff in NB Canada)

Rough it up with sandpaper or a sanding belt. You have to do that for PVC too
