    Love the Neo Creamback, one of my favourite speakers. Keeps the low end tight like a V30 but has the mids and upper of a greenback, very well balanced.

    The comparison at 2:44 perfectly shows why I hate the Vintage 30. I play mostly high gain and can't stand that constant sizzle once you get gain going. I will never understand how the V30 became the default speaker in most high end cabs.

    I bought a used Victory 212VH vertical 2x12 to pair with my VX100 head. Besides the G12H30 bringing the power rating down to 60w combined with the V30, I found the G12H30 harshly bright, especially with it being the top speaker while sitting close to the cab. So I replaced the G12H30 with a Neo Creamback, and I couldn't be happier! It pairs really nice with the V30 on the bottom. Power handling for the 2x12 is now 120w (plus lighter!), and the lower sensitivity of the Neo works well for being the top speaker, with the V30 below...

    Wow, I didn’t realize how much the creambacks totally smoke the v30 in every shootout.
    I have a Sourmesh 1936 2x12 cab that had a pair of 65w creambacks that I swapped one out for a Fane Crescendo A and man, that cab sings. Been thinking of ditching the other creamback and putting my other crescendo in it or getting a mesa traditional 4x12 and putting the two crescendos in there with two white label g12t-75s. Was running either a 1980 JMP 2204 or a Mesa Mark IV, now I’ve got a Marshall Origin for gigging and can’t believe how much ground that amp covers and how close it gets to the clean sound of my vintage JMP!

      Hello :) I also am owner of a VC30 (with stock 70-80 speaker) and I'm looking for a swap. Do you remember what you didn't liked in your pair up VC30+Neo Creamback? To what you swapped eventually?

    • @williamthomas2893
      @williamthomas2893 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michagrabowski6753 Hey Michael. There’s nothing I don’t like about the pairing! Maybe you misunderstood as i was also talking about an extension cab that I’m looking to speaker-change as a complement to the Neo Creamback. But as to the amp itself, it’s win win. Sounds impeccable (I frequently get dudes coming up after shows to complement my tone, which is very simple and mostly down the VC30/Neo Creamback/sovtek valve pairing. Well, that and my ‘73 L6-S and MXR Sugar Drive). But you also lose weight AND gain a little space between the speaker and the valves. Do it, you won’t regret it.

    • @michagrabowski6753
      @michagrabowski6753 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williamthomas2893 Thanks for the feedback. I must admit, that I'm relieved, thanks :D The stock speaker's best years are behind it and I started looking for an alternative. Due to the design flaw of the amp (distance between back of the speaker and tube sockets) I turned to Celestion NEO speakers to avoid modifications. I hesitate between the Creamback and the V-type. The stock speaker, combined with my guitar, gives a lot of piercing, I would say even unpleasant treble frequencies, and it would be great to tame it down a bit. That is why I'm considering Creamback more.
      Which version of the VC30 do you have? 1x12 I suppose? The one with the tone knob or the effect level knob? What kind of guitar are you using? Would you be willing to share your standard EQ settings (more or less)?

    • @williamthomas2893
      @williamthomas2893 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michagrabowski6753 Mine is actually the very earliest model, when it was called the GC30 (confusing as they then made another amp called the GC30), from 1993/4 I believe. It had an HH speaker in stock. Tonally I love it. I don’t tend to use the bright switch and have bass at 2, mid at 5 and treble at 3. I like the spring reverb and use the effects loop for tremolo as I like the way it blends in. It’s a bloody loud amp, so I generally have it around 2.5 on the clean vol and use various boosts and drives to push the front end a bit. I sometimes use a Weber attenuator, which is a lot of fun as you can drive the clean channel into drive heaven. Burns through valves though.
