The amount of new strategies and techniques invented during this run make it one of my favorite of all time. Congrats again and I'm hyped to see Lttp get the same treatment
I was so nervous for you at the end. And I knew the outcome. Just finished the entire playthrough. I've watched so many of your attempts live; congratulations Slack, I am really happy for you! What an accomplishment. Cheers.
As a Brazilian I must say that if you have beans you need to have some rice to go with the beans. Add the mashed potatoes, a grilled steak or grilled chicken and a salad and you're good to go. The Zelda achievement was pretty cool too I guess 😂
I’m glad you are enjoying the playthroughs. You might also like the live streams. I’m live weekday mornings for about 5 hours and learning the games and attempting these challenges.
I've been checking in on the stream periodically for a while, and now suddenly you not only completed the damageless but also picked up the WR and first sub 16? Amazing!
It has been a crazy month! I was prepared to grind any% for months. That run was just soo unexpected. The damageless run I have been after for over a year and a half. I new that was going to happen any day. We had 3 runs with only 1 hit so it had to happen soon. Thanks for watching!
That maybe because I had been there before. I had 3 runs with only one hit before this one. I even had one run perfect all the way to the very last hit! I hit Dark Link 7 out of 8 times and then he hit me. I also did Zelda A Link to the Past that you may enjoy.
@@slackanater6639 Yeah, a clip of the heartbreaker run was at the beginning of this. Brutal. I don't know that I'd have had it in me to go again after that. 😝
@@slackanater6639 I guess if I were actually good at the game and knew what you know I'd probably have it in me to try until I got it. Great job, Slack. I mean, my dad works at Nintendo, and he did that. But good job for you. Seriously, you are a beast and your dedication is incredible. Thanks for this.
Once you get the boots you can walk on certain water tiles. As a kid I never knew you could walk on the river leaving the 4th palace. I always walked the maze back. It’s not a glitch it’s always been that way🤯
@@slackanater6639 Ah, now that you mention it I do remember being able to walk on some water tiles. I never knew about the river leaving the fourth palace being walkable though.
It’s about 80% safe crouching in the corner. There is still a chance he will stab you of jump on to of you. The way I fight him as long as I time then stabs correct he will. It hit you. Now I don’t always time it right so I still sometimes get hit but at least it up to me.
I’m so glad you asked! Where this was recorded I had just found a new strat for Any% speedruns that uses two bubbles at the end. I would use that strat later to break the WR speedrun.
It's just unbelievable! Thank you for these amazing Zelda II runs! I am a Zelda fan but never been interested of playing this game until recently my wife gifted me this tiny "Game & Watch: Zelda" console. So I tried Zelda 2, I suffered a lot but in the same time I fell in love with the game. Firstly I beat it in ease mode (with max stats from the start) and after two weeks of practicing I've finally beaten it in normal mode! Btw have you tried playing on that G&W Zelda console ? :)
I do have a G&W but I have the original NES and just enjoy playing on that. Congrats on learning to crush Zelda 2!! Such a fun game. If you ever have any questions or just want to hang out. I’m live every weekday morning on Twitch. twitch.tv/slackanater we have a great community that drinks coffee and talk about old games.
This was my favorite game growing up. The as an adult I have close to a year and a half or routing and practice to get this no damage playthrough. Before this run I had 3 playthroughs that had only one hit.
It has to do with the way the Z2 creates randomness. It is super hard to explain. A short answer is that the game memory allows for 128 possible patterns to start when entering a room and by going in and out of a room a certain number of time we can limit the number of patters to 4. This is a reasonable amount to memorize. The sign is to manipulate the overworld enemies. Both of these are quite complicated but I would gladly go into great detail if you would like. Easiest way would be to stop by my live stream on Twitch. I’m live every weekday from 9 - 2 EST. Just pop in and say hey explain this for me.
Yes by exiting and entering that way we can reduce the number of different patters the boss will have. It will not always be safe in the corner but after the second time he appears I can tell the pattern and whether I have to move.
Very cool, but why ever level Health to 5. Edit: What about doing Bayou Billy? PS: I always thought of it as the fiery going through the keyhole, so much so that I thought noticed less speed reduction mid-door ie. at keyhole.(Disclaimer: I was 3 when this came out.) PPS; TIL(from you): You can spell away the trickiest enemies.
I routed the level ups strategically. Attack very quick so that I could kill enemies faster. Life I leveled a few times at the end because any leveling will fill your magic. Then Magic Levels so that I can use spells to make the game much more manageable
I have considered doing an explanation video series for my flawlessNES runs. There are a ton of neat things I do in these runs and they all have there reasons. It took almost a full year just to come up with the route for Z2
I think you got to go with pee when you fart. You shouldn't be farting all over the place. If you need to, excuse yourself, fart in the bathroom where you're set to pee. You can't control a sneeze anywhere near as well. Imagine you're in a first date with a super hot chick and she peppers up her meal and you sneeze then drop the loudest smelliest fart ever in the middle of the restaurant?
