You inspired me to give this game a go recently and I learned something very important about the Great Palace. If you attempt to leave bc you forgot to pick up the Thunder magic, the barrier outside comes up again, essentially trapping you in the palace, unless you get a game over. Oh the old days of game design lol
I agree Zelda two is an odd nes title. Watching him grind this shows how well Zelda 2 held up over the years compared to Zelda one I loved it growing up I'm 40 I got it when it was brand new. However everybody said and I do agree back then that one was better than two. For some reason I'm enjoying these speed runs more than lackattack24 destroying Zelda one... am I odd?
@Joshua Sharrock I agree! I'm 43 and when Zelda 2 came out I didn't have the skills to beat it and I couldn't stand the game lol. Now I love playing and watching Arcus play it because im nowhere near his level.
@Yeah Right we know that now but back then they dropped the ball. This game literally had nothing that the first game was. Today's standards this was a wonderful game but this is not a Zelda game No bombs, bow, boomerang, the candle was nothing the same... no swords I don't count the leveling system no armors I don't count the leveling system... No silver arrows no Gannon.. The heart containers WEREN'T heart containers they were blocks. And by the way you started off the game right next to Zelda. I love the aesthetics of this game today but this game was trash back then
@Yeah Right majora's mask still had every item that I just listed earlier you must not be getting the point that I made. This game didn't have items... None. Majora's mask may not be one of my favorite cause I didn't like the N64 but that was a very lore created game from Zelda. The characters established in the game even the bad guys... Other than this guy wearing green and having a sword there is nothing in common with this and any other Zelda. EVEN THE CDI games have items and storylines that were to Zelda. Arcus on these runs you’re doing back to back like this it would be cool if you noted your specific area of improvement each run in the upload comments. Did you develop a new strat, took a different route, simply didn’t fall in a pit, etc. Nice work!
Having watched the last few PBs I think a lot of it is cleaning up minor things like not getting hit by enemies, killing them faster, or not getting encounters, not dying, getting easy encounters stuff like that
around nine minutes in he pointed out that he saved time by not getting a life refill at the end of the first palace, because he hadn't taken damage. he does point stuff out like this during the run.
