i noticed that the case has perforations for air flow below the GPU. I would assume you would want to put some feet on that side to elevate the case slightly to allow that air flow unless you just lay the system on its back instead.
A low profile RTX 4070 would be dope and I reckon it can be done, it still only requires 1 8 pin power connector, it's power efficient maxing out at 200W with RTX 3080 levels of performance, and don't forget undervolting, I hope gigabyte make one, temps should be perfectly manageable.
I don't think you realise how big of a cooler you would need for that 200W and precisely why it will not happen. For reference, people tried transplanting cooler from 1 fan 4060 to 4060Ti and it just wasn't enough without severe TDP limit which made performance drop off to the point of it not being worth the hassle. Low profile? Forget about that.
Good luck with that. I'm sure you could with the 4060 TI and some power limiting/undervolting. But the 4070 gets too hot for a cooler that small. The 4070 runs often about 5 degrees hotter and sometimes even hotter compared to the 3060 TI, both which are rated at 200W TDP, although 4070 more commonly uses slightly below 200W than the 3060 TI does. The MSI Aero ITX of the 3060 TI is really small, but it's a pain and loud to use if it's not inside a big system with lots of airflow, and that's with about 5 degrees or more cooler than the 4070. (not accounting for the G6X vram heat). While these cards are very power efficient and powerful, they generate a lot more heat in exchange which needs to be cooled. Good example of TDP being a bad metric for both power draw and heat exchange.
It is simply amazing that we're seeing builds like this now and companies targeting the SFF space like this. Sure we've had them before but nothing quite like this I mean this one went together like a lego set and so clean on the inside to boot! Personally I"m hoping for a setup like this but using the AMD 8000 G-series CPU's coming in Jan 2024 and see what they bring to the table. Would be great to see this tiny powerhouse running a *nix variant for sure! And could I suggest maybe seeing how Mechwarrior 5 or Mechwarrior Online runs in this monster? With Mechwarrior Clans in the pipeline Mechwarrior looks to be coming back big and would be neat to see here :) Great video!
best thing about that minisforum bd770, not only is it a deal as far as price to performance, but it really holds up against it's desktop big brother option. My GF got the BD770i and I have a mini itx rig with a Ryzen 7 7700x. we ran benchmarks beside each other back to back both cpuz and geekbench 6. The minisforum loses in performance by about 80 points on geekbench 6, which is literally nothing. It's a killer deal.
4060 just doesn't have the memory bandwidth for 1080p due to that bus width. Even though it could theoretically run well at 1440p, it just chokes hard in some games at 1440p because of that artificial limitation. I bed you'd have a huge performance gain with 1080.
DLSS upscaling helps out greatly here and makes 1440p viable. I have a 4060 laptop (Legion 14” slim) with a 2880x1800 screen and the 4060 has no problem pumping out 60+ FPS in every game I throw at it, including heavy titles such as Cyberpunk, and remains relatively cool, so that the laptop runs quietly. DLSS 3.0 has been refined over time to the point where I don’t notice any artefacts during gameplay.
Would like to see how Star Citizen runs on this, of course I know it's in Alpha and buggy as hell, but it would be good to see if it will at least run.
Uhhh... ping me in January when the case arrives. But it won't be ideal because my build will feature 3950X (I have 7700X also waitng for transplant since I've upgraded my workstation to 7950X3D but I don't have AM5 ITX motherboard to go along with it...) - I don't think results will be representative, 3950X gaming performance is... it leaves much to be desired.
I guess for something where all the work is already done for you, the mobo setup is nice. For the money, I think people can do better for themselves. Just a matter of finding a low profile cooler for the CPU and knowing what dimensions you need to stay within. You can get an AM4 itx board for $100-$150 new. A good processor for $150. $300 + a cooler gets you better hardware for less money.

Mobile variants have many restrictions placed on them to be able to run off of a battery and a very low wattage psu. Its like comparing Apples to Milk.
@@Summit900 I understand but the product is being sold as a motherboard + cpu thus making a desktop machine is the main reason for it's existence. While I like the concept, I just can't justify the overall price. At approx. $1100-$1200 for the whole build and to only be a 1080p w/ some 1440p gaming machine, I'd prefer a standard mini-itx build with a zen-3 5800x3D or 5900x, 32 GB DDR-4 3600Mhz RAM, a SFF 600 Watt PSU and an AMD Radeon 6700xt/6750xt for similar or cheaper price and get better performance than this rig.
@@MrJonas7 I would slightly disagree. @@axescar Well naturally, but I probably would not try to cool a 7800X3D in this size chassis... MAYBE a downclocked 7700 or a stock 7600. ETA provided the alternative of a regular desktop CPU and I was wondering how big the performance gap is.
@@greenprotag I knew that someone will mention cooling :) But 7800x3d is very efficient and with the same wattage that have this mobile CPU, x3d will beat it. Caption of this video is something about "one of the most powerful..". And with am5 socket you will receive full size DDR5 dimms with slightly good timings and freq. So I think mitx am5 replacement is very good for such builds
@@axescar Listed wattage is kinda BS from AMD and Intel. Usually the listed wattage is not "max" but rather with a "nominal load" I suspect the X3D part will be hotter than the 7745HX
That and you have to take into account that this 7745XH has a custom cooling solution with a very dense low profile heatsink that might be hard to match. It even had exhaust out the rear IO.
How much did it all cost to build.. I got £500 to bulid or buy a mini pc to play aaa games and for emulation as well. Can u pls help me whats best way to get one pls?

I think mitx AM5 board with 7800x3d CPU is more powerful if we are about gaming.
Very nice system.
How much did it all cost to build..
I got £500 to bulid or buy a mini pc to play aaa games and for emulation as well. Can u pls help me whats best way to get one pls?
ryzen 5600x and intel a380 maybe fit the budget
poundsterling is the most expensive here so the budget is like 800$ which should suffice
Would love to know how the onboard iGPU is at gaming.
I love this so much, but with blackfriday laptop deals I am officially off the market for mobile/miniPCs for a couple years, building up these is just not worth it to me atm.
Forza has know memory leaks effecting frame rates. Running at 1440p I'm surprised you haven't seen any memory issues do the 4060s 12GB memory buffer.
Is the cpu soldered into the motherboard socket?
Yes. It uses a CPU designed for laptops.
@@spuwho would be better off buying a refurbished itx off ebay ... why is he pushing this garbage?
@@112Famine Too each his own I guess. There is always a niche to explore.
Would the smallest itx build just be a laptop docked to a monitor 🤔 ?
Case doesn't make much sense to me when the Velia 5 V2 or V3 exist, in terms of maximizing space & power.
How well do you think this would survive if shipped in a box?
whats the point of this motherboard if its the same size of an itx board?
So the built in cooler looks the same as the ar900i minusforum has, would you be able to tell me the height of the heatsink with the fan on it ? Always a great video
How is the reliability and noise of that PSU? Thinking about getting it for a similar build (except the mobo)
also can you show if this this think will daisy chain multiple monitors without a gpu?
Could you please try it with water cooling
Nice nails buddy 😮
Second video on this board and still no power consumption figures. Does that mean it's really poor in this regard and Minisforum told ETA not to put out any numbers?
Can this case fit a normal itx board with the same power supply and graphics card?
Yes just make sure you get a cooler that will fit.
Great video and build - QUESTION - What app do you use to show the FPS and temps overlay?
MSI Afterburner but technically RivaTuner (which is in the Afterburner setup) Great software for monitoring!
Can you try the higole mini pc!?
So do you just have a huge wall of computers?
How about increasing the TDP of the 7745hx?
