Manual usually. For example... I decline certain things too far awaythat are also cheap. Like a 7-11 that's more than 5 miles drive. I never got good tips from 7-11 orders. To avoid hurting the acceptance rating, I just power off my phone as soon as I see it and realize it's something I don't want. If I'm going for a bonus and I'm not far away from reaching it, I will leave it on auto.
I've been doing Postmates for about 9 months now and you're spot on Adam. Fast food orders hardly tip - if ever. I have to add that most grocery or big box store purchases (Target, Walmart, etc.) are a toss up for me. Sit down restaurants are your best bet. I have to add this tip to other drivers - if you have to place the order with a sit down restaurant - try to call it in first to place the order before you get there. It'll cut down on your wait time.
I would read the terms and conditions within the app. Or set a timer while you're waiting and count the number of minutes, then measure that against the mileage you drive on your payout. I'm pretty sure they're still paying 10 cents a minute.
I like Google Maps because it tells you which lane to be in; however, if I am in an unfamiliar area I will run Waze in the background and set the Audio to Alerts on.
From my experience, lunch rushes have more orders but lower total bill, which means lower tips. While dinner rush have less orders but higher total bill which means higher tips. I only do fast food orders when it's blitzed like after 12 am. Even if I don't get a tip i get a higher delivery fee. And if they do tip it's a bonus.
I feel like because people are at working during lunch hours, they don't have enough time to go back to the app and tip right away. They probably do it by the time they get home and by that time they just don't care anymore and just leave it at $0.00
I haven't downloaded the Postmates FLEET app in a while but I'm 100% certain they've made some changes since I last worked for the service. They probably tried to make it smoother and less confusing for the workers. Do you like the design of the current app?
Yeah I try to stay away from college areas too, those kids don't tip. Also when they have promotions like free chick fil a or a free mcflury at McDonald I try to stay away from those. Some customers out there are so cheap (not all). I wish there was an option to review customers also.
If we choose Motorcycle, our work areas will still be large like the market zones for Car/Truck/Van, and the great advantage of Motorcycle vehicle mode is: we can see all items of the order before accepting it. I myself always skip fast food restaurants, single item and/or under $10-valued orders. Please note: switching your Vehicle setting to Bicycle/Scooter/Walker will limit our market to pretty small zones and then lessen requests. Hope these information helps. 😉😉😉
I have a question if I do uber, lyft, uber eats post mates caviar, amazon flex and all the apps for 16 hours stright how much money do you think all make in one day?
Charles Jackson good point... I'm still not going to do a 7-Eleven or Jack and the Box unless they are right next to me when I get the request. I don't drive across town for cheap people
Yes... Postmates can monitor how many requests you are taking and not taking and that can affect your ability to keep working with them if you say no too many requests just like uber
I've done 600 DoorDash deliveries, and I make drinks all the time for customers who order from restaurants where they have the self-serve soda machines.
is there anyway to contact support? i have been trying to ask how i can use postmates to walk with out a freaking license. it wont let me proceed without one and i cant drive at all so im not sure what to do here.
When you get to see your tips? I think it not good business if you don't get to know who tips you. It 7 days than I've gotten who it was after so many runs.
If you did earn a tip under a certain amount it should show up right away. My buddy got a $200 tip once but it took one week to clear because they wanted to make sure that was the correct amount.
In New York, if it's a stupid salad, you may not get tipped like 99 percent. & the worst is them being mad that you took a while seeing that you're on foot.
I like google maps because maps uses satelites and waze has no satellites. Also maps has PIP which is nice. You can see your map while checking the fleet app. I get hecka good tips from all those places. I would recommend texting all your clients to kee0 them updated once you pickup. I have gotten a 30 dollar tip on a 30 dollar jack in the box order. Lol Truth is don't turn down orders if that's what's being sent to you because the more orders you take the more potential you have for tips. If you simply pick up the order handed to the customer and walk off without being so much as pleasant I probly would not tip either. It sounds like you have a low opinion of your clients and they are picking up on it.
You're absolutely right. Back when I made this video, I was trying to figure out where I should go and where not to go. I was mostly focused on the money. I was looking for trends, but the truth is this business is very unpredictable. I think I'm going to leave the video up just the way I made it however, because I think it will educate other people to look for Trends in their business. Tips are very unpredictable, and part of Postmates is that you may or may not get a tip and you just have to live with that.
Technically Postmates never had an official schedule; they called it "Priority Dispatch," and the idea is that if you were signed up during an hour, you would get more job offers than people who weren't. In my experience, it seemed to help a little bit to be on Priority Dispatch, but not that much at the end of the day. Of course, it's gone now so it's neither here nor there.
Adam. What are you smoking? Rich areas tend to be hit and miss when it comes to tipping. Vegas has some of the worst tippers around. Here in Vegas, i do the Silverado Ranch and Whitney Ranch areas Henderson. Henderson is a suburb of Vegas. I had a delivery to the Anthem Country club. The house itself was 1.5 miles from the guard gate. The teenager stiffed me. Ir all depends upon economics. The area around UNLV tends to have have shitty tippers. I am a Postmates driver at this time.
Yo LVScooter... usually I smoke OG Kush but I prefer edibles. ;) Hey I don't know Vegas very well, only been there about 20 times just passing thru. I really think my idea on "wealthier" areas will work if you look at it in the long run, or as a widened average. Yup... there are stingy rich people out there, also. As long as you know your market you should be good.
Bro I live in summerlin Clark county yesterday was my first time delivering for Postmates and I made 57.56 7 deliveries in 2 and a half hours... only 2 of those deliveries did not tip
Since the time I made this video people have gotten more generous, obviously. What I was trying to illustrate is that if you pick up food from cheaper restaurants, don't expect a huge tip. But anyone can surprise you at any moment. I might delete this video later based on its ratings, but for now I think the general principle still works.
No. You also get paid a base fare for starting the delivery. The minimum in Los Angeles is currently around $4.50 per delivery (plus maybe a tip). Check website for details in your area.
Do you work for auto accept or manual accept an order?
Manual usually. For example... I decline certain things too far awaythat are also cheap. Like a 7-11 that's more than 5 miles drive. I never got good tips from 7-11 orders.

+MrRgarcia2010 ... for sure! It all makes sense.
You are 100% right
tuan nguyen Thank you!
Adam, thanks for creating and posting this video.
Thanks for watching, Ron!
9 hours my first day 275.
Not bad! What city? Alcohol?
Scottsdale. No just strictly food.
I saw your comment Adam on App Store so I subscribed
Thank you! You totally Rock. Wishing you the best Chandler. What kind of ideas do you have to put on TH-cam? Or are you just getting familiar with it?
How would you know if you get paid when ur waiting for the food?
I would read the terms and conditions within the app. Or set a timer while you're waiting and count the number of minutes, then measure that against the mileage you drive on your payout. I'm pretty sure they're still paying 10 cents a minute.
THE TAO of ADAM sounds good thank you
THE TAO of ADAM nvm it shows u on the delivery section

Why your app is different than mine? Do they have an updated app?
I haven't downloaded the Postmates FLEET app in a while but I'm 100% certain they've made some changes since I last worked for the service. They probably tried to make it smoother and less confusing for the workers. Do you like the design of the current app?
Adam Wagener yes I do how do I get it?
Yeah I try to stay away from college areas too, those kids don't tip. Also when they have promotions like free chick fil a or a free mcflury at McDonald I try to stay away from those. Some customers out there are so cheap (not all). I wish there was an option to review customers also.
Alvaro Quijada smart!

how much money do you think all make in one day?
You won't know until you try. Sounds like too much juggling. Just stick to what's working best.
I get tips from taco Bell and Del taco all the time so...
Exception to the rule... And lucky
I cant believe that so many people they just dont pay tips
Maybe there is something you can do in your service to increase your tip rate?
will you be penalized for turning down or not accepting orders
Charles Jackson good point... I'm still not going to do a 7-Eleven or Jack and the Box unless they are right next to me when I get the request. I don't drive across town for cheap people
Yes... Postmates can monitor how many requests you are taking and not taking and that can affect your ability to keep working with them if you say no too many requests just like uber
I don't know the policy for Postmates, but for Doordash we can not touch food - this includes making drinks.
Interesting!
I've done 600 DoorDash deliveries, and I make drinks all the time for customers who order from restaurants where they have the self-serve soda machines.
Yeah I would think making a fountain drink is not food handling.
is there anyway to contact support? i have been trying to ask how i can use postmates to walk with out a freaking license. it wont let me proceed without one and i cant drive at all so im not sure what to do here.
Diana Diaz ... I had to find my local office and go in person to get help
the closest to me was in L.A. and thats not close at all but thank you.

how do you get 10 a min for miles or waiting?
Jamal Sambula 10 cents a minute is just the amount you get while you are waiting at the restaurant to get the food or shopping at the store
AJ Nicholas today I waited 30mins for a meal and only got paid 6.94 ?
Jamal Sambula ... Did they change the pay structure since I made this video?
Jamal Sambula ... $3 for your time plus base of $4... sounds about right if u didn't drive far
guys here's an update made 191.70 in 3 days thanks for the help if u live in LA go to beverly hills there tips are huge!
Trying this with my bike in la
+Andres Salvatierra #awesome
How is that going?
In New York, if it's a stupid salad, you may not get tipped like 99 percent. & the worst is them being mad that you took a while seeing that you're on foot.
alyssa caeytano that fucking truth they don,t fucking tips i have done 12 delivery without tips fuck that fuck postmate

in My Postmates App there Doesn't Has Schedule Option ?
saad khan no more scheduling in 2017 so don't worry about it.
+Linda Mejia what does that mean then ? Can you go online and offline whenever you want?
@Tariq - I believe that Postmates has ended the schedule system. It was too complicated.
Yes.
Technically Postmates never had an official schedule; they called it "Priority Dispatch," and the idea is that if you were signed up during an hour, you would get more job offers than people who weren't. I was just in Las Vegas two days ago... people are crazy with how they spend money there! LOL
Bro I live in summerlin Clark county yesterday was my first time delivering for Postmates and I made 57.56 7 deliveries in 2 and a half hours... only 2 of those deliveries did not tip

Heres ur tip !! Do not work for postmates its ass ! If u tryna get parking tickets do not !!
That seems like the way to go then at least you get some exercise
Aha in LA that's tru
Don't even bother! You are being replaced by Postmates Serve Bot!
Haha funny
so if postmate pay $1.50 per mile and your trip will be 1 mile and no tips that means you make only 1.50?!!!!!!
No. You also get paid a base fare for starting the delivery. The minimum in Los Angeles is currently around $4.50 per delivery (plus maybe a tip). Check website for details in your area.
Minimum in Columbus, Ohio is $4.10, no matter how short the delivery is.
