      Josh Stafford first of all it’s not college some are but usually you call it flight school second it depends if you will make enough money you start off regional you will earn less but when the seniority gets up the pay is also good and the thing is that airlines pays for accomodations and food so all you need to worry about is paying off those loans then you start majors which is flying to another country which the pay is quite high, you will have money to pay it off but it just take time,It’s called students loan. And who cares if you make less money all pilot I have met says that they are flying because it’s their passion and they say if you are going to do for money you are in the wrong place, So yes you will have money to pay off those loans ..

    Thanks for the cool insight. I’m a volunteer “wildfire” firefighter in Australia. In our rural area we only have volunteer brigades and NO structural training or gear. Still blows my mind given our population is elderly and young families. Thankfully at least my state has the best burn over protection. It’s nice looking at all your shiny gear lol. Pretty sure a cat got in and crapped in our bathroom last week haha. Different worlds for sure!

Our main mission is US&R and have swift water capabilities. With swift water we have, 2 RIT crafts, 2 inflatables with 30hp motors, and a 1660 John boat with a 40hp

    • @DapperSapper515
      @DapperSapper515 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Joey9in4you yes. You get ALL of the certs needed. Hazmat, firefighting 1 and 2, EMT, etc. So you can go to any non civil service department, apply, and you're basically in especially with that military experience. If it is civil service, take the test and score high. You'll get a call, and literally the same thing.

Do whatever you can to make yourself STAND OUT! And then just be the person they're looking for, and you're good. If you go firefighter in the military to help you out, do it in the Air Force, NOT the Army! I'm a firefighter in the Army. Loved watching this video...brought back so many good memories! Met and married my firefighter husband when he was a senior airman at Nellis AFB in Vegas. He flew in to work for every shift to Tonopah test range, home of the then secret F-117A stealth fighter jet (yes, this was a long time ago LOL...1992). We have lived in Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, McChord AFB, WA, Travis AFB, CA, and Peterson AFB, CO where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 24 years in what he calls (and I agree) the best job in the world :) Two things we could always count on were scraping ice off of our cars (except in Calif.) and celebrating many holiday dinners at the fire station when he had to work. The guys that my hubby worked with at the station and their families were our families too ❤ We wives supported and helped each other with taking care of our kids when deployments came (or TDY's as I remember them being called). I was then, and still am, so proud to be the wife of a AF veteran! Keep doing a great job, get that degree and be strong in your faith and nothing can stop you! God bless you and thank you for your service :) BTW, you are adorable (tee hee).

    Do you guys run medical calls? If so how's that work? Are they Paramedic Engines that run with ALS/BLS Ambulances? Are the ambulances through Fire Protection or are they private company ambulances like AMR?
    Is their room for upward mobility in this field for someone looking to do 20+ years in the USAF?
    How well does this job transfer into civilian Fire Service? Does USAF experience made civilian fire services hire basically instantly or are you still on par with other Civilian fire applicants?

    • @ralphmesidor9361
      @ralphmesidor9361  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Majority of our calls are medicals. We don't run our own paramedic unit on base but we have emt's and up to advanced emt's at our department.
      There is room for upward mobility for sure;
      Lastly this job transfers well into DOD firefighting. I know a few guys that got out and landed jobs at other bases or bases close to home as a GS firefighter. One of my boys even got GS-6 spot with the army back in his home state. GS-6 because he got out as an E4 and didn't have emt at the time.

    So say I want to be a in civilian law enforcement when out of the Air Force but I do not want to pursue security forces In The Air Force instead I want to pursue fire protection do you think tht would affect my civilian dream of being in law enforcement after the Air Force or will being in fire protection still boost my chances ?

    What kind of hose loads do y’all use? We use a min man lay on RFD.

    • @ralphmesidor9361
      @ralphmesidor9361  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use triple load

    • @stefankalabus1251
      @stefankalabus1251 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly love triple layer loads rather than the minuteman load, but obviously both loads are useful for certain situations. My company has a flat lay for our 2.5 and triple for our other two 1.75 lines. I’m a small guy so I’m not the best with hand lines but we all have our weaknesses and faults. That’s why we train and train. Stay safe out there my guy. 💪

    Was stationed at Warren 06-2014 as a firefighter. Looks like you all finally got a new station. I remember the old station 2 inside the heli ops building and the old HQ. It’s too bad to see you guys still don’t have real fire helmets ?

      Aw man I know about the old stations. We needed this upgrade bad. We actually just moved into this station end of 2019. And those helmets... I get clowned every time for those helmets when I TDY or something. We need real helmets also lol

    • @ralphmesidor9361
      @ralphmesidor9361  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Everyone has to eventually. You train to become a driver then eventually a crew chief. If you seriously dont want to drive the trucks then im sure you can bring that up to your leadership as to why 🤷🏾‍♂️
