@Phillip Stafford I love the design, it really looks like a ranch and a home then a fire station. I would feel very comfortable staying there for 48 hours no problem.

@Baylee Linley it’s old tradition, they originally did it with the horse drawn wagons. In my area when a new station opens now they do it to show that the men and women of the station are still ‘strong and fit’ - qualities you’d want when it comes to getting dragged out of a burning building.
My Dad would have died to work out of a station like this. He served 30 years with the Greensboro Fire Department in Greensboro NC. He obtained the rank of Assistant Fire Chief when he retired in 1979 due to a medical condition. I spent some time in the old Central Station downtown. The new Central Station is a few miles from the old Central Station. There is a fire training facility housed within the complex. Thank you gentlemen for your service in a tough job with a lot of satisfaction!!
I haven't said this before but. I admire that you guys as a municipal service put so much effort into your public relations, I wish more departments were like this. Showcasing not only the day-to-day but the people who work within your department and more all without the monetary incentive to create drama like television shows. Keep up the good work, I wish more companies and municipalities were like you in this regard.
The architecture is actually beautiful! I've never been to the US, but having a fire station that is actually architectural and designed with looks in mind blows me away!

That is an awesome looking station, Fire Station 20. the only thing lacking is the rest of your supplies and misc. equipment. I am sure this new fire house will serve you all and the High Lands Ranch area very well. Great tour of the facility. It's always nice to be the first to enjoy something new like this. Question: one of the things mentioned a couple times during the tour was cancer prevention. Can someone explain a bit of how these new station design elements play into that??
As the "Hot Zone Design" showed at 15:19, the apparatus bay, and anywhere where bunker gear and anything else that may be contaminated from the carcinogens in fire smoke, are kept separate and isolated from the living quarters of the station. Similar to how departments are "deconning" on scene and some departments are keeping dirty bunker gear out of the cab, "clean cab", and storing it in compartments in the body of the engine.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Man that’s awesome I hope you guys keep that. My department gets $120 million a year for a city of 600k and about 90k calls annually. a lot of us are taking 5k + runs a year. You guys are a great example of what a well run department can look like with proper funding.
Nice station! Stations are definitely nicer than when I entered the fire service 35 or so years ago. My favorite is the bay doors. Those are awesome!!!!I wonder if they are more expensive to repair when they get hit by a truck. And you can be assured it will happen some day. Not being negative but rather speaking from experience. And to those who commented on this being a big station for one rig you can rest assured that there will be rigs there in the future as the area expands. Its important to build for future expansion and glad to se that it is being done. I remember when that area had nothing but a few small farms and ranches and far from any city like infrastructure. I was born and raised in the Denver area so have seen huge changes and there are more to come. It almost makes me wish I was still working.
Bifold doors are extremely unlikely to be hit because of how quickly they move out of way. Can’t drive out and clip light bars or such. Annual maintenance costs are very minimal compared to roll ups. Initial cost is quite high but offset by much longer life.
It’s The Chauffeur’s old school 3/4 boots that I’m diggin! Hope they legitimately allow that! Safety is key, but tradition is still important! Beautiful Station! Glad to see growth and progress!💪🏾🔥
