  • Most beginners in civil & structural engineering give more emphasis to structural analysis tools like ETABS and staad pro and miss attending to some of the very basics. Here in this video, I am discussing a doubt posed by one of our students on absence of top steel displayed by ETABS in one of the beams that he designed in ETABS. Thought sharing it here will help all youngsters who are similar trying to catch up with basics in structures.
Though analysis tools like ETABS will internally arrive at the stiffness and the distribution of loads based on stiffness, a first hand understanding of stiffness and its effects helps one to foresee discripancies if any and take the corrective actions.
So here in this video , I am giving a quick tip to understand this point.

I have explained it in the video. In reality it is not fully simply supported. It is monolithic. And any way we are having 2-T12 top rebar. If you release, that minor moment gets redistributed to span. Generally there wont be a variance in any thing
