PRL HVI + KTUNER Stage 2 - DYNO TESTED!!! // 10th Gen (2018+) Honda Accord

  • Does the addition of the PRL HVI to the KTUNER Stage 2 ECU tune add any additional horsepower? Let's find out how much horsepower & torque the KTUNER Stage 2 off the shelf (OTS) ECU base map w/ the PRL High Volume Intake (HVI) makes on a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0! Will the PRL HVI add a substantial increase in horsepower on top of the KTuner Stage 2 tune!?! We put our 10th Gen Honda Accord - a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring project car on a DYNOJET dyno to compare our Honda Accord stock baseline dyno numbers (using 91 octane) to the KTUNER ECU tune + PRL HVI to find out if KTUNER's and PRL's performance claims are accurate. We'll routinely dyno test our 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring as we continue on our Honda Accord's modification journey - next up, a custom ECU tune, or the Phearable Stage 3 ECU tune, PRL intercooler or PRL downpipe, you can help decide...

    Great video. Just recently got my ktuner for my 2.0t accord. Haven't flash yet just running stock tune and doing some data logging. Want to see if the 91 that I'm using a of high quality. I'm interested to know at what k.con value power output starts to drop due to the ECU pulling timing? And also want to know is there any mods that would improve k.con without changing the fuel, for example aftermarket intercooler.

    Based on what you have stated about your k.con numbers, your fuel quality is going to be what is holding you back from seeing gains.
    You may want to consider conducting testing with better quality fuel which allows k.con to stay closer to .49
    You will also need to make sure your driving the vehicle after a reflash and allowing k.con to settle to 0.49 before Dyno testing.

    Another great video! I say leave the intake on. If it made a bigger difference over the stock stage 2 tune, maybe put the stock intake back on and try the Phearable tune, but for a lot of people running the PRL or Mishimoto intakes, I think most people would rather see you compare the tunes alone since it's pretty well accepted that the intakes don't affect performance very much either way (unless you have a Takeda or eBay intake!)

Even if it’s only a 10hp gain, as long as it’s going up top, it’s still a good deal for the money because, as we all know, there’s more than enough power on the low end already. 10whp and whatever additional torque there is for $180 is dirt cheap.

    • @flynfury8363
      @flynfury8363 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, It does not give the car more HP. Some people think that is what it does but it doesn’t.
      What it does do is open the throttle faster so there is less lag and opens it wider so it gets up to speed faster. Basically allows the car to do what it can and not hold it back like the manufacturer designed. I had a sprint booster ( same concept as pedal commander) and it really improved the driving experience. It will feel like your being shot out of a canon when you press the gas.

    Do you have E85 available? You will need to add some for stage 3 imo. I run 1.5 gal with 93 to keep knock down in .50-.55 range.

      .49-.69 on 91 is where Phearable says range should fall. They suggest 1.5 gal of E85. Anything .80+ suggest a lack of quality gas. I'm currently running Phearable Stage 3 with JB4 Map 1 stacked on top. Running an E30 blend w 4 gal of E85 and 11 gal of 93. Terry Burger helped set it up and looked at numerous logs. Traction is an issue! Pulls hard everywhere, especially up top. Check your email. I'll send the Phearable info.

    Only if this intake could've provided some whoosh sounds is the only reason for me I would spend the money for one , and get something in return. I wonder if the V2 maybe could provide a small bump in performance and maybe sound.

    • @TheLemonFactor

      The Mishimoto would give you a small bump in hp, while also providing some sound, especially with the panel removed 👍

    Couple of ideas: ktuner st2 w/ custom air intake- ktuner st2 flex fuel vs phearable stage 4- ktuner st2 flex fuel & meth vs the same but custom tune

    • @iiAzT3Cii
      @iiAzT3Cii 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if you keep doing intakes do the custom intake idea, intakes don’t really give you good hp for what you pay for. So, ebay maf adapter($30) plm intake hose($40) and air filter of your choice($40-80) still way cheaper than all other intakes & will still most likely only give you a 2-4 hp increase. Also tbh it’s probably best do a base tune first with pharable for more accurate results and then compare numbers with intake

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve always been skeptical of the air intake claims 😏. I don’t think we’ll see any real gains from any intake or intake customization 🤷‍♂️

      Yes and no... and good question that I'm surprised others haven't asked. The original tests were done on a different dyno (but same DynoJet type) on 93 octane, at sea-level. I've since moved, and am retesting at much higher elevation (5,600ft), on 91 octane, with a new dyno, and with a car, that's much more so broken in.

    Hey Chad, I’ve watched all the series on the 10th gen great data by the way. I feel like before you go stage 3 and removing parts why don’t we try a custom tune with the HVI to see if someone is able to maximize the PRL intake and get a good calibration for the different air. I would leave it same stage and then just do the custom tune and see weather that brings any gains. Thanks again for all the research man . 👍

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A custom tune will bring additional gains, but you won’t know it it was because of the tune or the air intake that you got the gains from. 🤷‍♂️
