Every time I hear the national anthem I cry. This is the best SB anthem ever. Yes I know background story and I’m glad somebody did put it on TH-cam so others would learn why we love our flag so much and what it stands for. Thank you for your kind words.
You are absolutely right. Once we take this oath to our Flag and our Country no one can take that away! Mine was August 18, 1968 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Semper Fi Brother
I believe that Chris Stapleton's iteration is the only one that brings so many people to overflowing tears with the reverence, passion, soul, gospel and emotions to the American National Anthem. He brought "Reverence" to the Superbowl LVII.
Damn..y'all think the Eagles coach Nick was crying? Man, I was straight up fell back in my chair, hand on my heart, talkin leaking. Hell, I'm still blubberin! Wow
I have a son over sea in the military and every time I hear this it brings tears to my eyes because he's out there defending our country and I couldn't be more proud of him
Polo, I am a fan of yours. This is only song that should NEVER be interrupted in order to make comments. That is our "National Anthem", our anthem is sacrosanct. You listen, hand over heart ( as I was taught), then you comment whatever you wish. Men and women have sacrificed their lives so that we can enjoy the Super Bowl, the least we can do is listen with respect our National Anthem. I am perfectly aware of our 1st Amendment rights, but lives are sacrificed for that as well. Be Blessed.
Especially when America means the world to you and you know what it means to be American and what it took make and takes to keep America, you f*cking cry. God bless our country and f*ck everyone who doesn't like it.
Brother, yes Chris is AMAZING LOVING YOUR COMMENT'S VERY BEAUTIFUL AND POSITIVE. CHRIS PERFORMANCE WAS A TEAR JERKER. BRAVO, BRAVOS . POLO,❤❤❤ THANKS AGAIN❤❤😊 AGAIN
A lot of singers put so much vocal gymnastics in their renditions of this song, they make it all about themselves. Chris said "I can do all that too, here's a taste", but he also showed restraint so as not to overshadow the song and the moment.
that was what made it magical. he took you on a journey. He gave you a little, then he gave you a lot, then he took, it back. Those runs were killing me. He earned a few million new fans on sunday.
I'm a Veteran and I was crying during that as well as when they played Johnny Cash's "Ragged Old Flag" earlier in the pre-game. They always touch my heart-strings. I put this version on top of my list right before Whitney Houston's Olympics and Super Bowl versions. I totally forgot about Marvin Gaye's version. I'll have to go find a recording of that now to listen again. Cheers!
I love Ragged Old Flag. I cry every time no matter who's around. Anybody who says sh*t about my tears just plain doesn't have enough love for this country and doesn't or can't truly fathom what it means to be America. The values and morals she's built upon and stands for, the blood that's been shed to make her and keep her, the families who are forever missing someone who fought for her, and the lesser way life could be anywhere but in America are things I think of every Godd@mned day and that everyone should think about and hold dear to their hearts although many don't. "For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor that the protected will never know." God bless this beautiful America and Semper Fi until I die.
What's amazing about Christ Stapleton is that his music unites all Americans. It's country but with soul; it's red dirt but with the blues. Whites and blacks can cry together when we all recognize authentic beauty.
Chris Stapleton singing made me feel like I was back in Afghanistan, plate carrier, waiting for that 108mm blow out, American flag in hand screaming FUCK YAHHHHH!!!
The pride standing on that sideline would have had me in tears also. I put this right up there with Whitney's version because his voice actually sounds like America. If the country could sing, this is what I imagine it was sound like.
It's CHURCH! The guitar tune has an organ feel to it, this is soul and church... He didn't try to over sing it, Whitney was the best singer, but this is my favorite version because it's sung in almost pure reverence
Chris just reaffirmed why I love this country so much. We are far from perfect but my goodness we are blessed to live in this wild experiment that defied all odds called America.
I give the Eagles Coach a pass for crying. I heard somewhere before hand he has always pictured himself standing there on the sidelines, right before the Super Bowl, listening to the National Anthem, and how emotion that would be.
Just a beautiful voice he is the best performer who ever did this song he had the players and audience feeling proud to be a American and I can tell you I am very very proud to be slamrrican no need to laugh at the players crying
Yes, the absolute precision in timing required for those jets to be on target when they should be is not an easy feat. It's called "TOT" (Time On Target) and takes an extraordinary amount of different factors, all mathematically coordinated, to have them arrive at that point in the airspace...at that exact second. It is practiced constantly and used in all air to ground engagements, be they warfare, military ceremonies, funerals, and Super Bowl's. Everything from their airspeed and vectoring to the target, to Sky-Harbor airport stopping all air traffic for them to pass through...all of it needs to be precisely timed Consider they are traveling at say...400mph, they need to line up and be in-formation @many miles out. If they miscalculate any of this at 4-5 hundred miles an hour...they either don't arrive in time...or they arrive too early. And they only get one chance.
I feel this is #1. I've listend to them all back to back. Chis#1 Jennifer #2 Whitney #3. It's the depth, style, tone, emotional appeal etc that did it for me. I love it. A man that rode the school bus with him in high school says Chris sang all the time. Said he had that voice he sang all the time. A few months ago when those horrible flash floods hit eastern Kentucky, Chris got a concert set up in a week for a concert at Rupp Arena for the people. He got Patti Loveless, Dwight Yoakum, Ricky Skaggs and other singers from eastern Kentucky. They raised over 2 million dollars. I saw him on the local news. He had his hair tied back and was helping distribute water and other items. Chris and Patti sang, You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. at the CMA's award show. She's a little older than when she recorded it. That was the best performance at the award show. They came from a little farther north in eastern Kentucky than I live.
