You have no idea how wonderful it is to see this video. When I heard the fires broke out near the Texas Lousiana state line, I immediately dropped to my knees and went to the Lord. I am so impressed by the attitude you folks have and the ability to never say never. Get-er Done!! Minnesota is a long way from Louisiana, however, you are always on my mind and in my prayers. I am continuing to pray that the hurricane that is heading toward Florida gives you the much-needed rain to remove the terribly dry conditions. Much Love and Many Prayers coming your way. Psalms 16:11 -- the same verse that I sent to Life in Pines. You are two of the most wonderful families with the largest hearts I have ever seen.
Thank you so much. Truly, we appreciate everything everyone has done for us. We are praying for the people in FL as well. Thank you for all the kindness and love. ❤️
Mentioned this before..My dad was a pipeline welder w/his own welding truck ..we moved all over America from 1951 (when I was born) until ahhhh..1963 or so,,(he still traveled) We just settled down in one place. He pulled our two story trailer everywhere ,we always had electricity in our moves FROM HIS LINCOLN WELDING MACHINE.
You need to consider installing sprinklers either on or near to your house. I have a 1,000-gallon tank (from IBC totes hooked up in series) worth of water ready to go out to a pump. The generator powers the pumps. That will keep things wet. Flying embers are one of the main reasons houses burn. They blow up under the eaves and get into the vents. I would consider plowing several rings to bare dirt around the house. Thankfully many fires move quickly but if you are prepared....
I live in California but was born and raised in Louisiana and all I can say is how proud I am of the men and women of Louisiana who throughout tough times always rise again through hard work and perseverance and always with a sense of family and community. God Bless all who were affected by the latest disaster to befall the Great State of Louisiana and a speedy recovery 🙏🙏🙏🙏✌️
I'm so glad everyone is alright, I've been a fan of the channel for quite a while, and only wish the best for you guys. Now, at the risk of being "that guy", I need to say please check the size of the wiring you are using on your generator. The wire going from your generator into your home appeared to be too small in size for the protection breaker of the generator, meaning; if you have a fault, the wire becomes the fuse, and, will burn itself to clear the fault. Emergency generators are great for keeping the power on, and are normally only used in an emergency, however, most people don't really give consideration to some of the dangers they can present. I enjoy following you guys, and don't ever want to hear of some natural disaster we're semi-used to going through on the Gulf Coast having a follow-up chapter that brings worse news due to something like an overloaded wiring situation. Take care and stay safe.
So many of the homesteader channels I watch are encountering wild fires . It seems the world is in fire . So glad you are safe. Being prepared somewhat makes all the difference . God bless each family who lost homes . Prayers and love.
That's what cajun family do they take care of each other in a time of need!! I am no one, go hurt, and everyone is safe!! We will continue to keep yall in our prayers 🙏🏻 As always, we hope yall continue fighting bc that's all we know how to do! Hope yall have an awesome week and stay safe!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We have land on the north side of the fire and live in a small community that was close to another large fire from yesterday. So far we haven’t had to evacuate either. Y’all stay safe and continue to pray for rain.
Wow - as I'm watching this in Redlands, CA, the temp inside my apartment is 82 F with an outside temp of 104F. Not sure what the humidity is, but I'm sure that yours is much higher. We've had our share of wildfires in our area, but there were only two or three small ones locally this year. I'm looking for locusts too. God is merciful and will bring us through. Take care and stay strong.
Praise God from who ALL blessings flow . And please let’s recognize our sweet lady filming and helping out Captain Crocs wearing a “Life is Good” hat . And it is…..❤❤❤
Southerner's know how to deal with problems.Keep your head up and stay alert. Wild fires can be just as deadly as hurricanes. You and your community are in our prayers
Gotta admit, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this video. I've been so busy this past couple weeks and thought I should catch up with videos and see what you all been up to. I'm relieved that you guys are all ok. Sadly you have this hurricane to think about and the best we can do from afar is pray you guys don't get too much from that. But you are right, our family will ALWAYS have your family's back and help out if it is ever needed. Now, for fun stuff, Jim had a couple "hootis" generator things going on there and a big shout out to him and Uncle Wags for getten' it done. I laughed about the generator hookup because I am thinking it is probably the same way I hook up my generator to the house. LOL But it works. The tractor "PTO ran" generator is a great upgrade. Here in Wisconsin we've been dealing with smokey air all summer due to the Canadian wildfires. And considering how many acres burned in Louisiana near your home is pretty darn scary. Keep doing what you're doing Jim & Lydia... I love the grit!
Thank you for posting this video. Y'all and everyone experiencing the fire(s) are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm in Florida and currently preparing for this hurricane heading right for me. Unfortunately I'm in the health field and cannot leave.
I understand what y'all are going through. In 2011. I had family displaced by the four corner fires in Texas. They came here after mandatory evacuating not knowing what was happening to there home. After many days, unfortunately they lost there home. It's a hard time but with support of family and friends you can get through it! Prayers 🙏🙏 for y'all! I pray God puts a blanket of safety over your homestead! God bless!
build a sprinkler system on your home i live in the country and i did that hope i never have to use it made out of black pipe and sprinkler heads on it just hook a hose to the end whole house will stay wet on the outside
Sounds like the community really did a phenomenal job keeping the fire at bay! 20-30 structures is not a huge number when you think about it. And the fact that NO lives were lost, is soooo great to hear!! ❤ Obviously, losing even one structure is devastating, but knowing it could've been SO much worse if it wasn't for the efforts of everyone in your community, is really heartwarming to hear. I'm especially happy to hear that ya'll made it through this without having to evacuate, and without suffering any loss at your homestead. 🥰 Real scary stuff! 😬
It's sad seeing those who have lost their homes due to fires. Am glad that the wind didn't change directions towards y'all. It's sad that y'all keep losing electricity in your area. My Prayers are with y'all. Best i can do, poo man. we to are keeping a watchful eye out for fires, since behind us have many dry up trees starving for water. On another note that was some nice 🦐 y'all bought. And Jim 👍👍 on Cajun Know hows 😃 fixing that generator. Cajun Family Lydia, Ladly, Jim and all y'all's family around y'all. Thinking of Y'all in my prayers 🙏
Stay safe and keep praying. . . . . Carol and I lived in Mauriceville until about 9 years ago when we left for higher ground and cooler temps. NW Georgia's mountains and cooler climate is certainly a blessing, however, we miss our Cajun neighbors and the GREAT food!!
My wife and I stayed when a fire went all the way around our house. It burned everything within 20 foot of our house. With our pool and a water wagon, we saved the house. It burn 128 house and many other structures. Hard work and persistence saved our house. We are not afraid of work and thank god for that it saved our home. Dave and Shelly. Also I did my first Dry Pour today, fun stuf it already looks great.
So glad you're safe. It's almost Spring here and every Summer we hold our breath, we've had awful bushfires in the past and many communities and lives lost. Sending love and prayers to all those affected and big thanks to the fire-fighters that risk their lives to contain the fires. ❤ from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺
So glad you are okay! 2 miles away is too close as fast as those fires can travel. One never thinks of wildfires in Louisiana, at least I don’t. I’m only 40 miles away from your parents pizzeria, Clinton, Il. Good thing that Jim is a man of many talents! You all be careful as we need you in our lives! We are indeed a “Cajun family “!
My brother lives in West Monroe and his girlfriend lives outside of Alexandria in the timber. Praying for all of you! So many fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and rain (flooding) all over this country and Canada. 😢
I only found your channel last night and have been binge watching you guys for hours since! Thank you so much for all the skills you share in particular the dry pour concrete. Oh boy, is there going to be a lot of that going on around my place over the next few months! I am in Australia and have literally just been through 3 weeks of bushfires where I live. It has burnt out over 75,000 acres, both bush and farmland. Quite a few houses and outbuildings have been lost and one poor man died trying to create a fire break to defend his home. It burned through the 30 acres of bush land at the back of my property and most of the farm opposite my house. I have been very lucky it wasn’t a lot worse. Yesterday morning it started to rain and last night we had some decent falls. Today for the first time in weeks I feel safe again. We evacuated when it was in the property across the road and I did not expect to see my house when we returned the next day. Miracles do happen, thanks to the amazing volunteer fire fighters. Trying to defend is not an option for us as we are a lot older than you guys and my husband is not a very practical man. We went through the same thing only 4 years ago. That fire was even scarier as it came without warning, carried by embers on ferocious winds. This one was more a steady march from where it started. Surviving these experiences makes one realise what is truly important. Family and community, the sense of place where you live and connections to people, culture and nature around you. This sense of community thanks to technology now extends so much further. I was devastated when I heard that Louisiana was on fire a month back. Knowing how fire impacts the whole community my thoughts and prayers were with y’all at the time. I have fond memories of the time spent there some years ago. I met some amazing people, spending some time in Lafayette and some in New Orleans and some just driving around exploring the countryside. Great company, great food and great music! Love Zydeco and red beans and rice is amazing. Wish we had Popeyes in Australia! Beats McDonalds any day. Anyway, just wanted to say how much I am enjoying watching your videos. Love the humour, the practicality and also the snippets of Cajun culture.
Wild fires are so unpredictable. So glad that it didn’t get to your property and you guys are safe. Keep a watch though, just in case. So sorry for the ones that got losses, but glad that no life’s were lost. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
its crazy how all our skies are covered in haze cause of it. and im jist glad it finally going to rain tommorrow. and also want to say my thoughts and prayers in all that were in the path of the fires that lost everything. 🙏
Just came across your channel. We are from Singer and could not agree more that we have strong communities in our area. Thank God your family came out well during these fires.
Came for the concrete ingenuity and have stayed because its nice that you’ve brought us into your home and community. It is a pleasure to be a part of. Your videos are so well done and positive. Cheers!
Thank god y'all are ok. 17 different parishes in the state of Louisiana are on fire. Absolutely incredulous! I've been a resident of this state in various areas since the early 1970's, and I've never seen or heard of anything like this. That is a fantastic generator! So happy for y'all, but saddened for those that have been unable to avoid the problems this causes. Prayers for all whom this touches in any way.
Hope you are getting the storm/ rain that we are getting currently north of Houston as the wide cold front pushes through east TX/ West LA. The rain is much needed.
May God always surround you with His protection. It clearly looks like He did, with the wildfire being contained 2 miles from your home! It’s a joy watching you two handle crisis with positive energy. Godspeed!
I just don't know why but the Lord guided me to your page. I live in West Virginia and love living here. I attended a small Indenpendent Baptist Church located in Westernport Maryland.I have been saved since 1959 served in Viet Nam for two years and the Lord brought me home. Prayer changes things indeed so We ashll pray for yall. In Gods Love Jim McCracken~~~~~~>
Howdy neighbors, right up the road in Deridder. Been dealing with this myself and skipped my mind ya'll were right south of the start of it. Glad you were spared, along with alot of the more populated areas. Not to dimenish all those that did lose something, but alot of people, even around here, dont realize how many pine trees were lost and the years (25 plus) its going to take to replace that wood. Anyway, anytime you want to do an updated dry pour concrete video, consider me. Ive got a few things that it could work for. I know you have plenty to film for content still, but if you ever see a need for that content or to cover something new, me and my place are always available.
God Bless. I was down there in 2005 after Katrina with our Heavy Tractor Plow Strike Team from North Carolina for a little over 2 weeks plowing fires in Washington, Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parishes. It was wild even after a hurricane at how dry that area had gotten. Glad your family and property were unscathed. I enjoy your channel, be safe.
My heart goes out to your community. Beaugard parish has been hit hard. I'm in newton County in texas we have had some scares. Got friend just across border they were under mandatory evacuation they chose to stay. Cajun strong
Jim you most certainly have the best woman on our side of the Mississippi. You are very lucky to have her. she’s definitely on your side. So glad y’all made it through that y’all are the best !!❤
Nice good size shrimp 🦐 I approve ❤😊 Those wildfire photo and situation is surreal. Thanks for sharing and staying safe in doing so. I hope I never experience anything like that here. Umm Jim the toplink is meant to stay connected to the tractor 😅😮 Pto generator is good 😊 ❤ Need to build a dry pour and pto cover for the generator. Glad you guys got away without damage. But others have lost a lot. Keep staying safe ❤❤
Two years ago our family was in a similar situation. The mandatory evacuation was 500 feet from our property. We were on a level II, we had all our important stuff taken to my wife's sisters house. It was so true that all we took were photos and some personal items, most of our stuff we decided to leave. Logistically it was just impossible on such a short time line to move. Other neighbors had their horses, and some cows, in the parking lot of a movie theater in town. Watching people lose their homes is just devastating. We were lucky and were fine. Keep safe.
The pictures of the damage is heartbreaking. I am thankful you were spared. I know your community will step in to help those who have. I am glad you were able to get a bigger generator. Stay safe.
Grateful you all are safe and sound. Tons of us were praying with heavy hearts for you and continue to for those who did lose structures. Thankful to hear no lives were lost. My head wanted you to evacuate, but my heart would of stayed and spent hours on end discing fence lines and the surrounding. God Bless your fire fighters, and so thankful all are ok.
You all are blessed. Try to help others if y'all can and be grateful for having the know how and the will to be great Cajun's. Real Cajuns don't quit, we might moan but never ever quit on family. Locust is another word for trails lol
Living in NW Montana, wild fires are something you live with every year. This year was something different. Glad you all made it through without any loss. Our prayers are with those that did.
I live in south La. not far from I-10, but north of it & the big helicopters were flying low & at night right over my house, back n forth for hours so I knew something was happening. I don't watch the news & rarely the weather so I had no idea. An hour ago, Sun. the 27th, we got a shower of rain, the first in 3 months & the temp dropped from 104-87°F in an hour. I'm grateful that ya'll & everyone else were spared, but my heart hurts for all of the trees & possible wildlife that was lost. Take care & God Bless 🙏☝🫂💜
I grew up in northern California and the threat of wildfires was something I grew up with. I moved to S/W Missouri and never thought the weather would change so much that wildfires could become a "thing" again, especially not where you are. We've been wondering if you were ok, and praying for your safety. Sadly, it will take years for the land to recover, and in some cases even longer for some of the people who lost their homes to recover. Our prayers are for all of you.
Hey guys, I live not too far from y'all north of Lake Charles close to Ragley. It is good to know you guys are doing okay. The heat and dryness experienced in the last couple of months have been something else indeed, especially when we are used to so much humidity. My family has a cabin up in Toledo Bend at Pirates Cove and that whole area got swept by fires, it is almost unbelievable this is happening here in our state! We are praying that lots of rain will come to our state and relief our land from this drought.
Happy to hear that yall are safe and no lives were lost. In the end, things can always be rebuilt but losing loved ones is forever. We will keep yall in our thoughts and prayers. Will also pray for all the first responders that are working tirelessly to get the fires under control.
So glad to hear that no lives were lost! I can't imagine the fear that you all must have experienced, but God was watching over you and your community! Will continue prayers for y'all!! So glad you now have an extra generator, too! That will definitely come in handy again. Blessings to y'all& stay safe ❤
Sorry for your community, but more than happy that you guys are safe, and your home. More than happy to send supplies, pay for a room, etc if needed. Great video as usual!
Glad to see and hear that you were all safe and sound i wish we didn't live so far away then we would be around ASAP to give you both a helping hand, and if the worst were to happen then a roof over your heads we would provide, but luckily you all were ok. My heart goes out to all those people who lost their homes and possessions, i'm glad that no lives were lost to this wildfire. Take Care and Stay Safe, Barry (UK)
Very happy to hear your family and home are OK. I loved the ingenuity you showed in getting the generator working! My best wishes to your community during the recovery efforts.
Thank you Lord, thank you Lord, thank you Lord for sparing these fine people. Please help the ones that were not as fortunate. Amen.
Watching this as the sound of thunder echos. Praying this storm will end the drought and help extinguish the fires.
You have no idea how wonderful it is to see this video. When I heard the fires broke out near the Texas Lousiana state line, I immediately dropped to my knees and went to the Lord.

Great job. Please put some flagging or guards up to keep kids away from it when running that open shaft

Don't forget the flood in May of 2021. It rained pretty good here in Moss Bluff. Hopefully it will move north to the wildfires.
Oh yes!
So glad you are ok. Hopefully you all get some rain soon to help with the remaining fires. Prayers for your community.
We are hopeful. Thank you for the love and prayers. ❤️
Thank you for posting this video. Y'all and everyone experiencing the fire(s) are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm in Florida and currently preparing for this hurricane heading right for me. Unfortunately I'm in the health field and cannot leave.
Stay safe, we're outside Tampa.
Thank you.❤️ We will be keeping you in our prayers as the hurricane is developing.

Cheers!
Thank you so very much!!
I’m so sorry this is happening to you. Hopefully nature will bring us 3-4 good days of rain soon in a non-violent way.
We are hoping so too!❤️🤞
Hope you are getting the storm/ rain that we are getting currently north of Houston as the wide cold front pushes through east TX/ West LA. The rain is much needed.
Just knowing you are all OK is all the thanks this Aussie needs. Please take care and stay safe.
❤
May God always surround you with His protection. It clearly looks like He did, with the wildfire being contained 2 miles from your home! It’s a joy watching you two handle crisis with positive energy. Godspeed!
I just don't know why but the Lord guided me to your page.
I live in West Virginia and love living here. I attended a small Indenpendent Baptist Church
located in Westernport Maryland.I have been saved since 1959 served in Viet Nam for two years
and the Lord brought me home.
Prayer changes things indeed so We ashll pray for yall.

Praise God no lives were lost! So happy all your hard work was saved! All Glory to God!
My son and family are in Leesville, we're in constant prayer for the state.
Glad everyones safe. Great call on the generator. I knew you wouldn't leave unless you had to, that's not what we do. Be safe!
Absolutely Rick. ❤️
Im glad you did not have to evacuate your home. You have put so much into the building your home with your own hands. Prayers for your Neighbors.
PTO electrical hootis...way to go Jim and Lydia. Praying Psalm 91 over you especially verse 10...Praise God!
Thank you Jack!❤️
Very glad the fires stayed away from you and your beautiful home!
My heart goes out to your community. Beaugard parish has been hit hard. I'm in newton County in texas we have had some scares. Got friend just across border they were under mandatory evacuation they chose to stay. Cajun strong
Thank God you were spared. Praying for all of you and your communities.
Your Family and the State of Louisiana will be in my Daily Prayers. RichardB.
So glad you and your property are safe. You get the support because YOU DESERVE IT. LOVE YA.
Thank you Robert!!
Stay safe.
So glad nobody has died. Very sad seeing this. Community comes together for each other. Healing, strengthening, positive vibes ❤❤
So sorry for the devastation in your community. But so happy to hear you are all safe.
So glad to hear y'all are doing ok! Saying prayers and God bless...
Thank you to much Bobby! ❤️
Thank the Lord y'all are safe God bless
LIVE STRONG CAJUN FAMILY! Thank the Lord for this positive outcome!
So glad you guys were spared the heartache of what could have been such a loss. Sad and praying for the ones that were not as lucky as you guys were.
So very, very happy to know you made it through these fires. Please stay safe.❤❤
Soo Happy to hear this! ❤ the tractor generator Idea and Glad you all are 👌
You all are blessed. Try to help others if y'all can and be grateful for having the know how and the will to be great Cajun's. Real Cajuns don't quit, we might moan but never ever quit on family. Locust is another word for trails lol
Family never quits. ❤️
I live in far northern Cali and deal with this every year. Just always be prepared is all I can say. I'm glad you guys are ok.
Happy to see Y’All and yours are safe. Jim makes what we in Pa. call a good old Hunky electrician. Stay safe and good luck, pray for nice rain.
My prayers go out to each and everyone that was affected by the fire and a blessing to you and your family that you were spared
Will keep praying for you and your beautiful community. 🙏✝️
Sending prayers and hugs to those in need
I'm so thankful you are ok and no lives lost

Sending loads of hugs and kisses to u and all that live there in your state .x
Glad you were okay through it all. Sad for those that lost everything and the damages. Praying for your community there.
Thank you so much!
Thank God you are ok my Cajun friends. My heart goes out to those who lost everything. This old Cajun loves you my mon' amis.
You’re absolutely right Bodie. ❤️
So thankful yall are safe prayers go out to everyone that have lost their homes but glad no lives were lost🙏❤️
Thank you Carolyn ❤️
Take Care and Stay Safe,
Barry (UK)
Thank you Barry! Very kind of you!
I am so happy right now! God is good. Our prayers were answered. Y'all always find a way to pull through. Thank you for this update. 😊
Thank you so much Charles. ❤️
So glad y’all have been spared. Praying for your neighbors!
Praise the Lord you all are ok. Also that there was no loss of life. Continued Prayers for your community.
I’m happy that you are safe. It appears that you have clear cut far enough from your house to keep you safe.
Very happy to hear your family and home are OK. I loved the ingenuity you showed in getting the generator working! My best wishes to your community during the recovery efforts.
Thank you so much ❤️
