Good morning Lydia and Jim!! This video was a little different and extreemly enjoyable. The first 5 minutes drew me in to the summertime morning and activity and peaked with you both showing your fun and sense of humor as you both cut up and clowned around by the waters edge. It was a lot of fun and very enjoyable. Kudos on the music selection throughout the entire video. The songs were great and fit the activity going on perfectly - very well done. Thank you for the time and effort it took to assemble this video Lydia, it was great! I really like goat, especiall the small ones, so was delighted to hear you were now official "goat farmers". It was great timing that Jim's brother was changing up things over at his place so you had access to the great fencing material for "free 99 as Jim puts it, to repurpose. The way you set it up will work out perfectly to have the 7 + possible babies in, while you are working in the new barn area. You sure worked hard setting the fence posts in that heat and humidity. This week here, it's running 102 - 106 degrees but without the humidity (which I don't care much for 🤪) I'm excited that you are starting the animal area/barn project and look forward to following along as this proceeds ahead. It was nice seeing Ladly, she's so cute and is sure growing up quickly. Y'all have a great and productive week and be safe out there. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

Part of the reason you live the lifestyle you do is so you can "LIVE" the lifestyle you do. You're not loafing you're building family bonds and memories. I have to say, Jim strikes me more as Cajun than "Goat Roper". BTW My cousin has around 300 Goats. He says the trick to having Goats is to know you can't build a fence that will keep goats in. You have to make where the goats are more appealing than anywhere else. Then they don't want to leave. Great Pyrenes and AkBash are great guardian dogs for them.

Especially if I had access to a tractor such as the one they have!! Hydrologic's for the win!! But that's just me. I'm 50 with a blown out lower back, neck, and both knees.
Just gotta be careful due to the T-post being used. You hit a hard spot in the dirt and you'll bend that T-post like a pretzel!!

I've even put fence where we didn't really need it.😁 As a former goat farmer, I look forward to seeing more of the goats and barn. I will say if ya'll have coyotes like we do here, you may want to include some "hotwire" around the top of that fence. And always remember, goats are escape artists but if your fence will hold water it should hold goats.🥰

Hey Cap. You know that old farmers motto " it's only temporary, till it isn't"...i think that goat home-da-minium might be one of those....

@CajunCountryLivin' Hello Jim and Lydia thank you for sharing the videos. I love em.❤ i thought i would recommend if you didn't or don't do it ? Too take a cresent wrench ~the hole on the handle if it will go over the( " TOP" metal rod) on wooden post where you hang the gate & If turn the top one down ok? If cresc3nt wrench doesnt fit over it just use a box end wrench to turn it downward l3ave the bottom fastener on the gate post pointing up though & LOOSEN the TOP HINGE on your gate so it falls down freely ok? Then hang your gate on bottom fastener on wood gate post have Lydia lift up on the other end of gate side to open with until you can slide the HINGE PART upto the TOP ROD of WOODEN POST then tighten up hinge on the gate once its Tighten the gate CAN'T BE LIFTED OFF THE WOODEN POST OK? Because it won't take much for a goat to get horns into gate rubbing its head scratching on it to lift it off of wooden post ok? And your gate will be more solid if you install it that way =《ON THE WOODEN GATE POST THE BOTTOM GATE HANGER METAL ROD PO8NTS UPWARDS TO HANG ON IT & TOP GATE HANGER THE METAL ROD POINTS DOWN & JUST LOOSEN THE TOP HINGE ON METAL GATE SO AFTER YOU HANG THE GATE ON THE BOTTOM FASTENER YOU CAN SLIDE THE TOP HINGE ON THE GATE UPTO THE TOP WOODEN GATE FASTENER ROD AND TIGHTEN IT OK》 just my opinion 😉

Also Jim & Lydia by tightening or loosening the Top gate fastener on wooden post side will raise, lower, or Level your gate however is best to function properly okay 👍

Great job. Self-sufficiency is it , the end game. Infrastructure is everything. I have 410 t-post to install for our perimeter fence. I think I am going to teach my wife how operate the front end loader to push the post in, while I hold them straight . Man, the nats are horrible. Y’all’s place is looking good.

I get up at 4:00 am everyday, even when I am off from my Day job, which pays for all this Homestead lifestyle we are trying to live. On weekends we try to get all our work done before midday, never happens. Is that the Calcasieu river or the Sabine River you’re property is backed up to.
