Piano is too big to take around and too expensive to try it just for fun. Melodica is better than piano in this regard. Also piano lacks articulation, recorder is more lively. Trumpet is way too loud and also not so cheap, requires strong breath pressure, people have headaches and other problems with it. Etc is not specific.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, all valid points. Personally, I have tried wooden recorders but prefer plastic ones for the durability, and prefer the sizes which are easily transportable in a small bag when I go to perform. Also I like to write songs which can be played along by those who are not too advanced. I certainly wouldn’t be considered a traditional recorder player, more an Everyman who likes to use it to spread fun and joy.
Lol so since you mention how durable they are I have a bit of a funny story on this very subject. Ever hear the phrase "my dog ate my homework?" Wednesday my son took his recorder to his friends house so they could practice for thier upcoming concert. After they finish my kid put his recorder up on a shelf so they could go play. When they come back the friends dog is eating the recorder! 😮 Not so indestructible lol. (Dont worry, school ordered a replacement.)
