Watched this yesterday & had to come back to thank you, Katie, for not hiding that part "we still haven't been able to get rid of." I used to hold my stomach in so much, it would seem I hadn't taken a full breath all day! Ideal or not, it's there & I appreciate your being confident enough to kind of highlight it!

Hello Katie, thank you for this podcast. I had been doing the bird dog but did not know about the other two. I am 63y/o and have osteoporosis. When I first started doing the bird dog I fell over after a few seconds but now I can hold it for over 60 seconds. Since I have added the other two I have better balance and feel stronger. I also do resistence bands. I dont know if you have a podcast on resistence band exercises but that work out especially for older people like me is really helpful. I have a whole routine I do with those every other day. Then I use the total gym in between. I really like your podcasts and so glad you did one with Alan Lichtmann. He is amazing. Thank you

Thank you Katie! I’m 63 and want to know exercises to keep my muscles strong and my bones. I use to exercise a lot when I was younger but it has become a challenge. 🙏❤️

Thank you Katie! There is so much conflicting and confusing information on TH-cam for folks with spinal stenosis or ruptured discs and I just saw a video that explained why the bird dog should be avoided. But highly respected back expert Dr. Stuart McGill says it's a must do exercise. But the reasons for avoiding it make sense - it will strengthen the muscles in your low back and compress the spine which you don't want to happen. Jeez us! Probably if I had been strengthening my core all along the rupture wouldn't have happened. 🤷

Best thing to do is strengthen your glutes. Very under utilized in modern day life.

What she calls pelvic thrusts are more commonly known as bridges.

Plants are over hyped. Once one can hold a plank for a minute it's time to move on. If you're progressing the plank like you should the bird and dog are unnecessary. Pelvic thrust are something to start w/, but like planks once you xcan hold for 60 sec. it's time to progress.
