You are right, T3 is great for hybrid shooters. My priority is stills, street photography, hence I still have the T1 and invested more in glass instead of upgrading body.
Get the X-T2! Video is just fine on it and you can save $300-400 and get a prime lens or two. The only thing the 3 has over the 2 that I use often on my X-S10 is Bluetooth and that's to turn activate recording remotely when I'm making a YT video.
You forgot the EVF. I have an H1 and couldn’t go back and forth between that and the X-T2. The T2 screen looked great until I got the H1. Spoiled me. If you never seen either EVF get the X2 and don’t ever look through an T3 or H1. It’s that much better.
First comment!! haha. Good work, love the enthusiasm in your voice. And it's a really good honest opinion on the cameras. I have the XT2 and XH1. But I plan on trading in the XH1 for the XT3, because I like the size and handle of the smaller bodies for my streetphotography and fashion shoots. The XT2 is just legendary in my opinion.
I watched this video after i bought the XT3 and the XT2 as a secondary camera ! Honestly there is no much of a difference except the video features and the focus points but is still an improvment, for me the important change is the dials,i feel the xt3 dials are so much nice and easy to use...Great video and subscribed !
Sony A7 3 and I’m a Fuji user. Better sensor, better AF, IBIS and way better battery life. Sony threw everything at their camera. Fuji unfortunately withheld functionality to protect the XH line of cameras, which they should never have bothered producing. X-tT3 could have been great but alas not. Great improvements in video specs pointless without stabilised footage. And their auto aperture step changes look awful when shooting video too.
Hey, thanks for the comparison. I recently got the X-T3 but unfortunately currently there is no cage for it on the market. Do you think that the SmallRig cage for the X-T2 does also fit on the X-T3? Are the size differences significant? Thanks a lot...
The EVF has technically improved on the X-T3, but I have not noticed a huge difference. Also, I do not use manual focus, so hopefully someone else can answer that question for you.
Is it the video function in xt2 really that bad? Or just when it is compare to the xt3? Because I’m thinking of getting the xt2 but I still shoot few videos but mainly for stills. How do you think?
The X-T2 is not terrible in it's own right, but the X-T3 is way better for video than the X-T2. The X-T2 doesn't have great autofocus, the operation is clunky, and you need the battery grip to fully utilize all the video/audio features. The X-T3 fixes all those issues and added professional level features.
From an x-t2 user... if you are predominately buying for video don't buy it. The X-t2 is for photography with video capabilities . Trying to video moving objects with the x-t2 is a mission in it self.
Played with a Fuji XT3 yesterday - felt so much stronger than my XT1. Also played with the Canon R - very plastic feeling. Ps you can purchase a pack of covers from Fuji - quite cheaply seems they expect people to loose them 📷😁📷
I am very interested to buy the X-T3, but its shutter button just makes me hesitate. Will a soft release button improve the shutter button experience in X-T3?
It took me a couple of shoots to get used to it, but I don't think the new shutter button feeling should hold you back from the X-T3, especially if you shoot video. There are smaller advantages the X-T3 has over the X-T2 that I didn't even talk about. If you have the money, get the X-T3. If money is an issue and you don't care about video, get the X-T2 or another Fujifilm camera.
I've read somewhere in a review that they changed the rubber grip material around the camera, the reviewer said the rubber on the X-T3 felt cheaper and more plastic.. can you confirm this or didn't you feel any difference?
i would like to shoot with two bodies, having 2 primes on each. i already own an xt3. would you guys recommend me getting another xt3 or and xt2 at half the price?
This depends on your budget and what you need it for. For paid gigs, I would get another XT3 so I could exactly match all the settings and know I'll get identical quality for each camera.
I wish some TH-camrs would stop saying that the Fujifilm X-T2 is cheaper now cause that was a one time deal, as of right now the X-T2 went back up to its standard $1599 price.
If it's just for a hobby and you only take photos, the XT2 is still a great camera that you can find for cheaper used prices. However, if you want video or you have paid work, I'd look into the XT4, the latest Fuji model.
The autofocusing is way quicker, very noticeable. It doesn't hunt at all now and so much better in low light. also the phase detect coverage is now all over the sensor, so much better.
One other point: The new processor has a lot more headroom for additional upgrades. The processor 3 is nearly maxed out. And remember, all those cool new video features of the T3 will be on the H2 when it comes out and it has IBIS. If you do video and want the smaller lighter T3 make sure you’re the zoom type so you have IS. I don’t care since I’m a stills guy and own mostly primes. I also don’t care because I have an H1 - which I don’t use for street photography except at night because it makes people run away screaming. Good advise about upgrading though. I, like the person making this video, upgraded because of the EVF, faster processing, better standoff for the eye piece, and I’m a camera crazy. If you’re primarily a stills shooter you can pick up a used in new condition T2 in the $8-900 range and it would be nuts not to take advantage of that. Will I ever upgrade my T-20? Probably not. I have a 27mm on it and I can’t imagine ever needing more on my grab and LIGHTER THAN LIGHT combo. It’s a small, light 24meg jewel as it is. Not the topic here but I thought I’d throw that in. With the three of them I now consider myself completely FUJIFIED. Well, until I see what the X-Pro3 has to offer. Improve the EVF and straighten out the dumb angle on the dial deck that makes it look like someone stepped on it and I may have a look. PS. With the new processor (actually a duel processor) and slightly larger sensor technically they could come out with cropped electronic stabilization that might only require firmware. Don’t hold your breath, but it’s possible and would overcome one of the most commonly heard criticism of the T3.
For fairness sake!, i love my little X-T2 got it for $970usd used in as new condition!. I also just got the 18-55mm for $250usd new after cash back i love bargains & Fujifilm!
I don't know what kind of photography you do, but I wouldn't switch unless you're done with Nikon or if you want a smaller travel friendly camera. The Nikon D750 is a better camera than the Fujifilm X-T2 in many ways, especially with the amount of Nikon glass that is available. Fujifilm has some good lens options, but doesn't compare to the Nikon legacy. At least not yet. Also, going from full frame to APS-C sensors could be a big deal.
I had an a6300 a year ago kept it for about 2 weeks and moved it on wasn't impressed. I had come from a Panasonic GX8 expecting big things very disappointed went back to a GX8 with a Leica lens. Just changed to an X-T2 and its hundred times better than the a6300 and GX8. The one thing I do like about the Panasonics is the ability to get perfect blur free still frames from 4k video without the need for expensive software. This is not possible with the Sony or Fuji cameras.
Thanks! Flip out screens may be rubbish to you and a lot of people, but I've had positive experiences, so for me, a side flip out screen is better. Sometimes I like selfies, so a flip out screen helps. Other times I might want to shoot video, and flip out screens are much more useful for video. Those are just a couple reasons.
@@VideoGizmology Cool...I am genuinely curious as to why you believe a flip out screen is better for video, what can you do with a flip out that you can't do with a tilt for video, thanks.
The reason a flip out screen is better than a tilt screen for video is simply the multiple directions you can rotate the screen. That's it. There are many filming situations where you cannot physically stand directly behind the camera to see the tilt screen, so a flip screen is better. This is the reason why every single camcorder has a rotatable flip screen and not a tilt screen. One of the major criticisms video shooters have with cameras like the Fujifilm X-T3 and some Sony and Canon cameras are their lack of flip screens. But don't take my word for it, ask other video shooters what kind of LCD screen they prefer.
Video Gizmology Interesting viewpoint thanks. I am a pro wedding photographer (stills) and because I feel so strongly about this (I hate the flip out screen) I actually started asking every videographer I’ve worked with since the turn of the year, I’d say maybe I have asked 9-10 of them, as there’s not always a videographer at each wedding. Honestly... every single one said they do not want a flip out screen because it was just too slow and cumbersome. And none of them had a camera that had a flip out screen. Thanks for your comparison video though, it’s good work and helpful.
As of this moment, I cannot tell the difference in build quality. They are both solid. If you are on a budget and don't shoot video, get the X-T2. If you have extra money and/or shoot a lot of video, get the X-T3.
Come on man all the talk and then so less actual practical video footage?? Who cares about rubber and grip and battery size and how big our hands should be to use it. Just some more footage would help a thousand times better. Thanks

Nice review, you saved me few hundred $$$ , was thinking of upgrading and after watching and seeing your logic I hold off for now.
Glad that helped your decision. You could always rent or check it out at a camera store, too.

Your.. second sentence … better sensor, better AF etc - are you extolling Sony A7 3 ?
Well, I only needed to watch the first minute and a half as you explained straight away what was best.. Now, that's service 👌🏼
Also, is the shutter sound exactly the same??? Or is the XT3 dampened a bit to make it quieter?
Shutter sound seems similar if not the same. It's a different feeling, though.
Really useful video! Trying to decide on which one to buy in 2023

What about the EVF? Nobody seems to talk about this.
Does it make it any easier to focus manual legacy lenses? Cheers!
The EVF has technically improved on the X-T3, but I have not noticed a huge difference. Also, I do not use manual focus, so hopefully someone else can answer that question for you.

No its not bad just rather a lot of X-T3 fanboys on here who think because its newer its better which is bollocks.

I've filmed fast moving trains with the X-T2 using 4k at 30fps had no problems at all no different to using a Sony Broadcast camcorder.
great review, so clear!
Thanks!
I'm late to the party...... Does the xt3 freeze like the xt2?

Money is ready :-)
err i believe you are wrong the xt2 does focus on the eys as well as the face or do I have it wrong?
You could be correct depending on the latest firmware update. At the time of my review over a year ago, the eye focus was not available on the XT2.
You are correct. Eye focus is available on the Xt2
I've read somewhere in a review that they changed the rubber grip material around the camera, the reviewer said the rubber on the X-T3 felt cheaper and more plastic.. can you confirm this or didn't you feel any difference?

Yeah, the price jumps are difficult to track sometimes. Especially when it comes to camera gear.
is this for the camera alone?
prince100f 1 yes
Wow that’s crazy... last year i met someone who got the xt2 for $500... -__- and i got my brand new for $2000 after tax.

The battery is the s type designed for the Xt3 more powerful.!
What is over quality of photos with high ISO? Is it more noise with ISO 6400 or 12800
More noise on the X-T3 at high ISO settings.
The autofocusing is way quicker, very noticeable. It doesn't hunt at all now and so much better in low light. also the phase detect coverage is now all over the sensor, so much better.
Agreed. I haven't used the XT3 enough to appreciate that yet.

Bro can you tell better to buy Fuji xt 2 or xt 30 or sony a6400 or sony a6500 for same price ?
The Sony a6000 series have very small EVF's and good lenses are expensive plus the menus are horrible. Go for a Fuji XT you won't regret it.
I bought xt2 brand new just before xt3 came out.. wish i waited and got xt3 brand new
That xt3 looks amazing
Wait for the Sony AR4.
haha. I would, but I don't own any Sony glass. It's the glass that locks you in to the system.
I hope when doing this video your X-T2 was Firmware updated?
