    thanks for this review! i still have my fujifilm x100 from 7-8 years ago and it has survived every fall and still works like a charm! I’m thinking of upgrading to either the X-T2 or the X-T3 but i’ve heard the latter is manufactured in China (a first for fuji in an effort to bring costs down) so i’m a little worried about longevity. I want it to last me at least 6+ years so might just go with the X-T2 because there isnt *too* much of a difference

    • @JacquesGaines
      @JacquesGaines  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would not worry about the China thing. The build quality is quite good. As robust as the XT2.

    For those who love adapting vintage primes to their FujiFilm cameras, the best deal today maybe the X-T1. An abused one can be had for around $250 while one in excellent condition can be had for around $350. Add a grip for something like $50. As the prices of the X-T2 come down the X-T20 might become an even better deal than the X-T1 is now.

    The only thing that you -(probably)- are going to miss from Xt2 is the "Made in Japan" thing, everything else (as far as I can understand, I do not own one) seems the same or better in Xt3. Whichever you take, you are going to be the proud owner of one of the most beautiful cameras on the market. Enjoy and take care.

    I like to shoot wildlife stills and birds in flight. I'm not much of a videographer and don't really care about the touchscreen. What would you suggest? I don't mind buying the camera grip but I am mainly buying this for telephoto action shots (wildlife).

    • @JacquesGaines
      @JacquesGaines  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      X-T3. Stuff like sport mode for wildlife is amazing. Focusing is way more robust for bird shots. My two cents

  • @HomesickMac
    @HomesickMac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    As I expected, a very honest and no GAS biased video. I've just bought a Sony A7III when it came out and thought of getting another one because I''m doing events, interviews so I need two cameras... But then I stsrted using the Fuji X70 for the everyday shooting, street, casual... And I fell in love with the image quality and manual controls. Was thinking of buying a X-T2 but the video on Sony was better plus that it was full frame, and I kind of got used to using it.
    Then the X-T3 was announced and the video is great (need that 60fps in 4K) plus everything else great about the Fuji's hardware, I love the menus on my X70 so I'd be home directly.
    So right now, and thinking of the lower price tag than the A7III, I might keep the Sony for portraiture work and save up for two X-T3's for video later on.

    • @JacquesGaines
      @JacquesGaines  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But mr Ruzic. That A7 3 is a beast. Stick with that for everything. You got all you need in that A7. Remember nothing takes better images than knowing your camera well

    • @HomesickMac
      @HomesickMac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JacquesGaines yeah, that's why I wrote I'd be keeping it for portraiture work. Never intended to just switch. But XT3 is tempting for the rest of the stuff despite the smaller sensor.

    The fuji xt3 is 950$ body only.

    • @ScottSouthy
      @ScottSouthy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I previously had an A7, A6000 and GX85 all now song of being sold. Just picked up an X-T2 at a big discount with an additional Fuji cash back offer. I was considering the A6500 but the Fuji discount got me in.
      Image quality on the Sony and Fuji are very similar. For me the big difference is body handling. If you want the smallest body the Sony wins hands down. That being said if you want the best handling its Fuji. Then the APSC lens line for Fuji is more complete with even some weather sealed lenses to suit the weather sealed body. If you want weather sealing in Sony you need to spend big on large FE G master lenses.
      For me the value in the Fuji is the Body handling and quality. I'm no engineer but the Fuji does feel like a better built product in my hand compared to my past Sony's. I have had problems with Sony cameras. A control dial died on my A7 and every Sony Camera Ive had NEX6, NEX 5r, A6000 and A7 have suffered from the dreaded Trublack screen delimitation issue. I haven't had the Fuji long enough to have any issues, time will tell. Fuji APSC lens line up is more complete for my needs. Although there are more 3rd party options available for Sony.
      Both will be great cameras capable of awesome images it will just depend on your specific needs.

    • @buddyWalrus
      @buddyWalrus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you need to upgrade in the future to FF, go a6300. If you don’t care about FF and enjoy tactile exposure controls, go Xt2. Both have great lenses to choose from, although the Sony line up gets complicated especially when considering using FE lenses.

So despite my wife's arguing I got hor small malty girl we all adored in the end. I've been told malty's fur can't get you allergies, and it worked, at least in her case. Unfortunately our little doggie was gone prematurely, so now that my daughter is in college I got that little troubled boy...

    The XT3 is cheaper than the XT2 during introduction because it is now Made in China.
    If you have the XT2, keep it!! It's the last camera that is proudly MADE IN JAPAN.
    To me, I'd spent a $100 or $200 more as long as it is Made in Japan.

    Would you buy a BMW that's Made in China? 😁

      Get a new X-T2 now, yes they are made in Japan. It's a shame Fujifilm switched to China as the two countries who are known for superior workmanship are Japan and Germany.
      And tbh you won't notice a difference in quality between the two cameras, the X-T2 is brilliant...still.

      @@chloescanlon1107 Yes, I bought 2 XT2s. I will buy the XT3 later though since I am already heavily invested with their lenses.
      Canon is my number 1 brand and they are the only camera company that proudly makes 70% of their cameras, lenses, video cams in Japan. My 40D, 7Ds, 5Ds, 6D and a bouch of L lenses are all straight Made in Japan! 😊

    Dude, you need to check what you say when you talk in video. X-T3 is faster than X-T2 for Autofocus. So don’t tell people to stay on X-T2 when X-T3 is faster :-) hahahahaha

    • @JacquesGaines
      @JacquesGaines  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Doesn't it all depend on how fast you need? Also is that speed moved over to af-c. You just cannot say that because autofocus is faster it is better for video. Don't you think that is a tad simplistic?

    • @yan-jk1ti
      @yan-jk1ti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      xt2 is very fast in autofocus already,no reason for an upgrade..
