As far as I can tell, the closest thing mentioned to a faliure is a Mac. The hand-held iThings have been quite successful. Having said that, I should probably mention that I'm not that I'm a fan of any of these products.

Well, Xbox One users in a nutshell.
+MrSmartyPants Sure? I guess, that would make sense. Calling the xbox one a tech failure was really reaching, after all.
Well, here's my problems with it:
1. They may have said it didn't have to be always online anymore, but they lied. You need to be online for several things, including for DLC to work.
2. Updates automatically make you offline, which disables a lot of stuff. Then, when you do have the time to update, it uses the network again, which destroys the point of turning it off in the first place.
3. You need to purchase games off the store if you want to have them permanently. You can scratch your game disc, and it won't do shit for you. It doesn't for a product code or anything.
4. A lot of exclusives that I want are on PS4. (Yet my little brothers wanted to get an Xbox because they wanted roblox on there, which they don't even play anymore. I want to play the Last of Us!)
So if I buy a Xbox One and plug it into my TV, I can watch TV?! That's genius.
+Igorcastrochucre Actually the idea is you're able to plug your cable box into the xbox one, allowing you to flip between TV and games in the matter of seconds, as well as freeing up one of the HDMI slots in your TV.

You think that something described like this would get a minor, however notable mention, not be the center of the whole spectrum of features XB1 has. I just made that joke because of the way it was advertized as a "Entertainment System" rather than "a console with new TV and internet features"
I have two HDMI port in my TV, so I plugged in my computer and my TV modem in the other. if there is something good on TV I can switch, but I mainly watch shows through my computer.
win everywhere. got a wireless keyboard and mouse, all working fine even in gaming. if I want to play with a controller I plug in a Xbox 360 USB controller and done. plus I can play all the older console games and most titles come on PC too.
I m not sure that u can just connect ur xbox one and watch tv.I have ane xbox one and I was not able to watch tv just by connecting it.however,u can plug up ur tv box to the xbox one and.d THAT will work
+ybnrmalatall A satellite TV box would work on the xbone as well, along with anything else that relays info though HDMI. Including a PS4 and PC (Don't try it though, input lag is horrendous as it just wasn't designed for that use) Really I don't see the point in insulting one another. the Xbox one is cheaper and barely weaker, PS3 is a little better but pricier. all it comes down to is what gimicks you want to fall for (be is Playstation or xbox gimicks)

One of my systems is still running Vista. It wasn't MS's fault hardware manufacturers were late to the party. And yeah, ME was a train wreck.
I never had such pleasure as now because when I started to use Windows 8.1 (Back in August 2012(Beta 1 windows 8.1) when 8 was existing)

I know, I remember back in the day I had a Toshiba laptop with a Core Duo processor and a 1Gb of ram, It ran Windows Vista pretty damn good!!
IRQ1Conflict Yea man, I my old computer which I got in 2008 had Vista, but with "massive" 2GB:s of RAM it never crashed. My only ever problems were that somehow when I let my sister clean the computer from dust (back then I was still kinda intimidated by computers), she had unscrewed the power supply main power cable insert, and eventually when I one day happened to move my computer a bit, both poles of the plug connected the case. That caused a short-circuit and it made a loud bang and bright light. Nothing to do with Vista nor this video tho, although I guess it counts as a tech failure?

My main console is an xbox one but I kind of wish My friends and I all moved on to ps4. It has a lot better games and exclusives. All Xbox has is halo 5, I do have that game it's fun but it's campaign SUCKED horribly.

Gabe Halstead All I've see are fails from the past five years... take into account the issues from the 70's+ like the virtual and the power glove and the list gets longer. HTC first has nothing on them.
Bradley Palmer maybe because what happened in the 70s is pretty irrelevant and we kinda wanna know about modern fails. Plus no one really knew what they were doing with technology in the 70s they were kinda just experimenting with stuff. So its much more interesting to see modern fails because technology has progressed to such an extent that it makes these inventions even more ridiculous.

Windows 8 and 8.1 wasn't too bad, and that the OS was tablet and touchscreen friendly. Despite that it was not Desktop friendly, and confusing. If you tried the previews, it wouldn't be so bad.

Well at the time this video was made there definitely was not 2 million XBONEs leaving anyone's shipping center and it was one of the biggest tech flops in history.

It deserves #1 not just because of the tech... its more because of all the hype that it has. Coming from Microsoft as being one of the largest and most wealthy tech business, and they decide to completely fail on making a console. That's why its #1, due to the hype/overrated.
cbnunya Sorry for your confusion, I am not comparing consoles, this was strictly geared towards Microsoft. I do not own either of them nor am I a PlayStation fan boy. I also do not plan on buy either of them, my PC out performs both of them so you can re-think about your wrong assumption.
Its the fact that the Xbox had more publicity, and for your sake, was projected to have higher sales..... that's where it failed. The hype... Microsoft's competitor crushed them in that aspect.

I don't much like the Xbox One but I think this video was far too early to call it the biggest tech failure before it was released. It's probably going to bring in higher profits than the 360 so I doubt Microsoft will call it a failure.

Really the Xbox one is here? I don't care who beats who, xbox or ps4, it's not a "failure" when the console has made millions upon millions of dollars. It did what it was supposed to do, which was to have people who had the 360 upgrade. Maybe didn't beat ps4, but does that really make the console a failure? We went from things that were scrapped, to things that just didn't work, to the xbox one. I don't think I could see bias any more clear in this video.

This was before the Xbox One came out. This was before they fixed a whole bunch of issues, i'm pretty sure his, along with everyone else's opinions have changed upon the actual release of the Xbox One. This was Published July 10, 2013 and the Xbox One came out on November 22, 2013. So yeah. That's what i think is going on, hope i made sense :D

In my opinion the biggest tech fail is Windows ME. It was so crappy and unstable that people who bought a pc with ME preloaded would buy Win 2000 alongside with it and install it on their pc. It was so glitchy, even the startup jingle could hang.
I don't think the Xbox One was as much of a tech failure, as a public-relations failure. I'm so glad they fired their public-relations guy and he is working for FarmVille now.

It was the LAUNCH for the Xbox one that was bad. Later updates definitely made it better. Let's not forget the backwards compatibility too

I am an Xbox Fan and I own 360 and I see PS 3 wasn't the console for me but I do agree with Austin :( Xbox one isn't the console I buy in 8th Gen, PS4 is way impressive hardware and tech , even in motion controlled games I think it will beat kinect 2.0 as seemingly not updated enough

It's pretty unfair to call something bloated just because it has higher system requirements. It's like calling a desktop environment bad just because you can run a window manager with much lower specs. All of that eye candy and extra 'user friendly' navigation features require better hardware to run.

from personal experience, I had a windows ME computer from 6th grade (when it was brand new) to the end of high school. I pretty much only used it for word processor and a few PC games I'd installed as I didn't have internet access at my house until college, but it always ran perfectly fine. Now, later in 2007 I upgraded to a Vista laptop and it was super buggy. A lot of programs would regularly crash. Granted, it could have been partly my fault as I did not regularly run driver cleaners or defrag, but based on that, I have to say that I think, overall, ME was probably better than Vista as a core operating system when compared based on the tech that was available at the times of their launches

Windows 8 is amazing, it was designed to run on ARM so everything was cut down to be lean and mean and have the smallest footprint possible on both memory and CPU. This translates to huge benefits on desktop computers getting this same cut down lean and mean subsystem.
Its the stupid interface that nobody likes..

Plain , outright lie. Microsoft was never good on memory management and Windows 8 isn't any better. I only installed it to learn my way around it for any problems my customers (or i) might face.
Create a dynamic ram drive , crank it with some videos and shit , poof , BSOD , because instead of throttling the application , it systematically kills system processes and it doesn't seem to get enough of it. Low memory algorithm knows no bounds.
Linux solved this shit years ago , you'd think they would take some clues. Plus if you optimize it for a smaller memory footprint , it's gonna be way slower than it would have been in terms of performance.
ARM architecture doesn't have a problem with memory , it's cheap. They should have written an adaptive algorithm to determine the amount of memory footprint built-in apps and system processes leave on the Ram. oh wait , Linux community have already done that too. Such a shame.
***** He said Windows 8 was designed to use a smaller footprint because it included Arm support , that's windows RT (Piece of shit if you ask me) , some of that code may have rubbed off on the x86 version but it's footprint is no smaller than it's predecessor possibly even worse. I was a little subtle about it i admit , but these could have been made out from my previous comment so i didn't digress.

Blah...I had a LOT typed out, but after re-thinking it, I realized it's really as simple as this.
The Xbox One didn't belong in this list because it hadn't even been released when you posted this video of Tech Failures. It was a huge announcement failure, for sure, but it hadn't even been released yet.
I don't like Microsoft, and I don't pretend to, nor do I support all the Natzi crap that they tried to get away with. But I just don't think a tech announcement failure belongs in a list of tech failures. I, at least, see them as two different things. And, in fact, you even mentioned that it will probably be a solid release after they decided against the Natzi Box One.
Hey Austin, Not sure how a tech can be a failure if it wasn't released yet. I think that was a little premature. Was their press conference a failure? Yes. However, their console is not. It sold 3 million + units so far. You should be calling the Nintendo Wii U a failure before you call the Xbox One a failure only because it took the Wii U a full year to hit those numbers.
Even if Microsoft didn't change their DRM model. It still has to be released to the public first and face its fate. If it doesn't sell, then, and only then, can you call it a failure. That way you can analyze the loss of profits for Microsoft and judge which spot on a top 5 list it falls under.

its actually a really good OS . i mean they have tried to do something that now one has tried to do yet!. make a computer OS that will work well on touchscreen and non touch screen computers... I know several people that prefer it to Mac's admittedly they all use touchscreen laptops. some even prefer some of the "metrosexulized" apps as you put it. for so many reasons it's one of the better OSs they have released. the footprint is small. It's simpler to use. it way more intuitive. That is if you're willing to let go of the old and embrace the future.
I'd agree OderBang. However, It's targeted by design at the touchscreen/tablet market. It's horrible if you don't have a touch screen. The intuitive part is for swiping/sliding your fingers across the screen, NOT using a mouse/keyboard.

5 minutes of testing? Excuse me? I am a Microsoft Partner... I have 5 copies of every single OS they make including things like Visual Studio etc. I think not sir. You're talking to a 17 year veteran in the computer science and technology industry. ;) I'm not talking out my ***! Like I said, it's perfect on a tablet/touch screen. No one I know or talk too... appreciates the "metro" apps they provided/forced upon us. They like what they had before. Yes the performance is MUCH better I do agree with that 100%. I run it on ALL the computers in my home *5* and I'm very happy. The only device it's not on is my Son's iPhone. I own the Windows Phones also. Nokia Lumia 1020 for home, and 925 for work phone... You have to remember this video was made almost a year ago, this was at the time Microsoft was vigorously fucking over the Xbox One with "features" that made many want to boycott the Xbox outright.
The Xbone is actually selling very well, they're not too far behind the PS4 in sales. The real damage is to Microsoft's reputation, not their sales.
I never said the word "success" to describe the Xbone, I just said the Xbone is selling very well, at least here in the U.S.
iPad 1st gen initially was a failure too since they stopped upgrading iOS up to iOS 5 when Apple could have upgraded it for iOS 6 and iOS 7 as well, and didn't had a front facing camera to add FaceTime in 2011. But after the iPad 2 the rest of the iPad became one of the best selling tablets ever.

Jorge B. I was just thinking the same thing. Calling xbox one one of the top tech failures in recent years? Microsoft has always been iffy on presentations of new tech, but over time they end up being pretty good. I should start a goddamn channel. I'm sure I could get sponsored if this guy did it.

Extreme failure, I mean seriously, when did they take there product off the market? Never.
As much as I love Sony, I'd have to say the last 2 Xperia Zs... The Z4/Z3+ was plagued by overheating and wasn't much of an upgrade from the Z3 (really only "upgrading" the processor and removing flaps... Oh, did I mention it's battery was 200 mAh smaller than the Z3's). Then the Z5 launched and it was a great improvement over it's predecessor, adding a fingerprint scanner, using a processor that overheats less, and upgrading the camera (and a slight design change), but it took over a month to make it to most markets, which is fine,but even after it made it to the market,there was a lack of promotion and marketing... Then to make it even worse, it didn't show up in America until 5 months later and ditched the fingerprint scanner when it did come to America. Not to mention, there was absolutely no promotion for it here, no carriers wanted it, and they wouldn't bring the phone everyone wanted over (Z5 Premium). Now you have the new X series which doesn't go on sale until summer time.

Anything Apple, dont tell me how to use my tech. To make any Apple worth using you need to Jailbreak it and then you have all the forced proprietary cables. To top it off they over charge. You would need to pay me to use any Apple product.
How can one of the biggest products ever sold on any market be considered a failure? Apple devices have flaws, with updates breaking apps, cables having on-board computers dedicated to coding and decoding thunderbolt-to-HDMI things because thunderbolt is too weak to handle HD resolutions uncompressed (it compresses/uncompresses into H.246 codec or something causing a loss of quality and compression artifacts) and also all their cables are extremely short and they tend to fray and break apart after extended use. Bending phones. Still, they are definitely successful products.

Consider the day this video was made. That was before Xbox One became the new Xbox One Eighty. That name is called by some people for a while only for that week it changed.
Xbox One intended to force players to go online daily and there were many flaws. Xbox One Eighty deleted many of those problems. Now we just call it Xbox One and forget stupid idea ever happened.

He meant before it was launched. Before it was launched it sounded really illogical to even own. Like some of it was like this: Must log on everyday, need wifi, can't use used games, disc only works with one console, etc.
Not better then the ps4. Just throwing your money away really when you buy an xbox one. Because the ps4 is 100 cheaper then the xbox one. And also. It's 50 dollars a year for online on ps4. And 60 dollars a year for the xbox one. And not only that. The ps4 runs in 1080p. Well the xbox one is running in 720p. So really. It was a failure. Go by the facts and stop throwing away your parents money.
RcaMan100 it's been at 400 for the longest time now lol and I'm pretty sure they cut it to 350 for the holidays. Plus, unless if you're playing on a tv screen bigger than 32" you won't notice the difference between HD and Full HD ;p
