I GOT THE XTOOL LASER FOR MOTHER'S DAY GIFT FROM MY KIDS AND I'M LIKE A NEW KID, MAKING AND ENGRAVING THINGS EVERYWHERE AND LOOKING AT EVERY VIDEO OF YOURS!!! THANKS FOR SHARING! I WAS HAVING A HARD TIME ENGRAVING ON GLASS AND STAINLESS STEEL AND HAD NO CLUE I NEEDED TO COAT IT
thats so beautiful . she can put it on a book shelf or even a kitchen wall. those wood pieces are a long time gift along with crochet homemade doilies. mothers and women tend to keep things that are made . expensive gifts are not really a thing for older women period. don't let this materialism fool you.
Great video, I’m surprised you don’t have more likes to your videos. You’re doing great, love the content and humour, keep it up! Liked and subscribed! Cheers, will try the vodka on ice.
Hey Nick i was engraving etching with my atomstack 5 pro today on acrylic for a nite lite. I trie using black poster board behind The acrylic with amazing results no cleanup and a perfect job just wanted to share that with you sir
I been following you for a few months and I appreciate you truly. I've learned so much, but I have one question?! I have a project I'm trying to do and it's a cut and fill but because the way it's layered out, instead of filling or engraving the middle part of project..it cuts it. I'd like to know how I keep from doing that. How can I edit a project to engrave an area instead of cutting it?! It's an earring (Halloween)
I pre-ordered the 20W back in March....can't wait 'til it gets here. Just curious if you have used the prototype you have and what kind of results you have gotten. I do little cutting but a lot of engraving ......hoping the 20W will speed things up
Hard to say exactly. You get a feel for it. Tight, but with a little give. If you move the gantry with your hand it should be smooth... I was going to make a video on it, but it's hard to explain without saying "here, feel this". LOL You may also want to wipe down your rails and hit them with a little lube. Sometimes they get dirty and stutter on the dry spots. Cheers
@Build Dad Build Suggestion ... get you some hot glue finger tips. A dollar store has some inexpensive ones; however, you can, most likely, find them at any hobby/craft store.
Hello! I really enjoy watching your videos. Where do you get your pieces of wood? I'm struggling to find quality pieces that don't cost me my first born. Thanks!
So I recently ordered the D1 Xtool and I am ready to work. I received my first order to engrave 65 cutting boards (boards are provided) I got this for tumblers, but hey why not. How do you set pricing for engraving per item?
I charge for set up time. And then per unit. I've heard anywhere from .50 to $1 per minute of engrave time. But sometimes...depending on the engrave that can be crazy. I usually base my prices (on things I don't normally do) by researching similar items on etsy, etc. Cheers
Hey awesome video and idea! Question, if I buy the file how do I use it with Xtool basic? Does it just load regularly or is their special procedures I need to do for the laserbox basic to run this file?
Alright so my husband has this hes been using lazerbox with no problems but today he went and downloaded the other program for this bc "it offers better stuff" or he says anywho it deleted my lazerbox now I cant do anything my icon is gone I went to redownload and pc wont let me please help I love this machine n i dont want him to get rid of it bc he cant figure it out now
I watched your videos when I was shopping for my D1, Since I got it I have expanded my operations. Check out my latest video of the Jig Kit that I have made in lightburn. I think you may like it.
Nick. Dude long time fan but I just feel your getting away from why many of us started watching you. With the cnc and laser you've left your roots man. Which I get it, its about the majority of watchers wants. But just something to think about. 🤔 If I'm the only one then maybe it's me. Take care my friend Peace. ✌
Hey Jim! I'd love to get back to my "roots". Unfortunately, that doesn't pay the bills. I addressed the channel's downward spiral in this video. th-cam.com/video/qdbcea0bt0U/w-d-xo.html Shortly after I did a laser video. And views went up. All my analytics went up. So as much as I would like to do what I was doing...I have to go with what people are watching. And they weren't watching the old stuff. Cheers
I’ve emailed XTool 5 TIMES and NO RESPONSE! Do you have any experience with their customer service? I’m VERY interested in getting a D1 but kinda worried about ZERO customer service!
First, if you've emailed them 5 times you are creating more work for support. Yes they are slow. But I would argue that people get impatient and email several times filling the email cues. I would suggest reaching out on the xTool Facebook page if you have questions. facebook.com/groups/xtoold1 Cheers

Maybe you would behooved with doing an library type reference drawer with the small test grids for quick references.
I like the second one, because of the extra depth
Old video I know.....scrap the LED's but definitely use the spacer. The depth looks great!
I love the fact you include your mistakes. Thank you!
Sure thing Greg.
Cheers
I don't care for hot glue as well man, but like you, will use when necessary. Your humbleness is infectious! Keep up the great content!!
Thanks, Donald!
Cheers
There silicone finger protection for hot glue. Also, you should pull away a little, then wrap the glue string around the hot tip to "cut" it
Great viddy
So I got a D1 for Mother's Day. Can you please do a video on how to center using the laserbox software?
Excellent!!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Made me laugh the whole time lol loved it.
LOL
Got it!!
Nick this is AWESOME! I have been making the Mom puzzles. keeping me busy lol hopefully I can finish my mom's before tomorrow lol
Sweet!

I definitely like the "extra spicy" version!!
I have this laser too, can you do a tutorial on how to engrave something and cut the frame of it out? I can’t seem to figure it out
I don't think I understand what you're asking?
@@BuildDadBuild like to cut around the engraving to pop it out of the board

Thanks brother. I have a clear acrylic video coming up where I use a technique similar to that.

Great video like normal your a big help thanks for your videos
Thanks!
2nt one is class
Nick, I just purchASED THE FILE. Which file should I use? Laserbaox is not recognizing any of the file downloaded!!!!
New subscriber here. Great make and have to add I hate hot glue too. Always ends up a mess.

I mean I could email you the svg and maybe you can do a video on it for people like me 😆
Email me nick@builddadbuild.com
Hot glue. Be careful. Great project. Maybe a lighter colored wood would have reflected the light better
What do you use to vent the laser engraver? My shop has a bit of smoke in it. Do you have an exhaust fan or something else set up?
I have an exhaust fan pointed out the garage door.
Cheers

Any advice for tension? Currently cannot cut a smooth circle and cannot figure it out.

Lol uv resin is wonderful for spot tacking, I hate hot glue 😂
It's evil.
Great work Nick. Where did you get your camera rig over the XTOOL D1? Thanks!
I made it!

Hi dose that system work with apple computers and do you have to be connected to the unit or can you do designs away from the unit?
Yes they work with Apple. And you can connect to the xTool via wifi.
Cheers
@@BuildDadBuild thank you
Cool Project!. I am fussing with one also, thanks. Question did you shorten the string of LEDs or cram them all in there?
I kept them that length. They’re not super bright so I wanted to make sure they showed up.
I made some for friends to give to there mothers
Awesome!
Hey awesome video and idea! Question, if I buy the file how do I use it with Xtool basic? Does it just load regularly or is their special procedures I need to do for the laserbox basic to run this file?
Most of the files from Design Bundles come in multiple formats. Just pick the one that works and import it!
