I still think that Big Daddy from the Bioshock series would be a great guest character. Baiken from Guilty Gear would be sick too. Karlach from BG3 might be an interesting possibility that would bring in a whole different group of people.
I had high hopes that Soul Calibur 7 would be more successful than 6. Since it would be a retelling of Soul Calibur 2-4. What I want to see is Cassandra preventing her niece from becoming Soul Edge’s new vessel, & her nephew being forced to fight his big sister, with Soul Calibur manipulating him into doing it.
Okay. So... the problem with this recommendation is that breaking up and cluttering backgrounds is the OPPOSITE of what would result in a smooth online gameplay expeirence. 90% of the problem with modern-graphical games trying to sync their rollback is that in UE, everything in the background is *also* considered a "gameplay object" for syncing purposes; where for a gameplay-focused experience, the only things that truly need to sync are the player characters; and the few interactive elements. This is why you constantly see online Top 8 tournaments with everyone throwing down in the Training Room/Grid stage - people are bottlenecked into this stage because it strips AWAY all of that unnecessary state syncing that goes with interactive backgrounds, and focuses on the part that matters - the performance of the playable characters. I think they should just go back and make a Star Wars Calibur game. THAT is the sequel to 4 everyone was holding their breath for. Reversal Edge was kinda wack - but more than anything, because the command for it replaced a throw command that I particularly used a lot, the B+G. It would've worked fine as a standalone attack, kind of like a Focus Attack in SFIV, without the whole cinematic RPS thing attached, as well. But the rest of the elements are just fine! Critical Edges are actually pretty cool; and are actually a throwback to Soul Blade/Edge; where super combos like this were universal and gauged (A+B+K)... and you had a few follow-up options to end them with.
@@ToastyYokai This. No need to make the guard impact system that complex when it can already counter EVERY attack direction. It's perfect the way it is now compared to how it use to be.
I mean SCVII met & exceeded the goal Bamco gave the dev team. I’m pretty confident it may return, and if it looks anywhere as good as Tekken 8, graphics and cinematic wise (with hopefully a bigger budget cause SCVI was admittedly made on a shoe-string budget), I’ll be Happy I DO like Reversal Edge, but yeah its TOO EASILY exploitable so to fix it IMO 1. It costs meter 2. Disable in Online Rank & any competitive play. MY SOUL STILL BURNS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
7:00 OK but what makes a fighting game good is not how accurately the environment gets scuffed up during the battle. All of this stuff about a new engine is probably really expensive; if they made an SC7 at all, that'd be great. Do SC6 but take out reversal edge and put in good rollback and there you go! You've got a fantastic game.
Pretty positive sc7 is already in development. 6 was a huge unexpected but much needed success and single handedly revived the series by going back to its roots and adding fun mechanics for newcomers. It will always be my favorite fg franchise and i have faith that sc7 will get an eventual announcement soon. I love t8 but no other fg will ever take the place of sc for me.
If you can find someone to Champion it for the the company and assure them that it will be successful-- Oh wait, it already happened, it was the latest Sc, and jt failed and the director who fought for it left the company. 2nd time's the charm?
@@thehellslayer300. From a business perspective it's not a good investment. Compare SC6 mere 2 million sales with Tekken 7 11 million sales for instance. It's not that hard. And in the case they make another SC game, you will always have that budget problem, because for obvious reasons the company can't invest more of what they project to sell, and SoulCalibur is not a great seller. And the low budget thing is a problem for the developers, not for the player. If I go to a restaurant and ask for a hamburger, then I expect a good hamburger no matter what, not the sob story of why the hamburger was mediocre at best, especially when you are selling the hamburger at full price.
If anyone is hoping for a next Soul Calibur game don’t expect one anytime soon Harada who was part of Project Soul stated to not ask about Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur V and VI didn’t not sell well enough for Bandai. VI was fought by Motohiro Okubo to make and left Bandai after the release of VI.
We could hope for them asking someon like arc sys to make one, granblue has Sigfried and 2B (well she was guest previous) so would be fun to make a Sam Sho style soul cal
Short answer: No. Long answer: No, sir. And I hate to say it, as a huge SC fan. But Namco just said they cancelled 5 games. I'm sure none were SC7, but we all know how risk-averse big publishers are now. Namco will likely keep milking the Tekken cash cow, rather than invest in creating and supporting SC.
@@ToastyYokai We know what works. Stick with it. SC5’s meter system was the furthest it ever should have gone. It was ok in that game, but look how it turned out. Almost killed the franchise.
@@Landonio. The game cannot just be SC2. The game needs to evolve. For all the praise SC2 fanboys give to that game, it flopped miserably when the HD release happened, proving once more the only reason of SC2's original success was because they had Link and that's all. The meter use and the Critical Edges are okay, only problem is that the cinematics are too long, and it becomes a chore. Critical Edges were perfect in SCV because they were quick and to the point while in SC6 they had these long animations. The only mechanic that was a total hit or miss (and probably mostly a miss) was Reversal Edge. But you cannot have a franchise to get stuck in the past, I agree it must keep its identity, and SoulCalibur has done that.
I NEED SC7 to happen. But I hope they really put proper effort in it even post release and obviously great online. Oh and o bviously give us an IMPROVED character creator instead of copying the previous one. Oh and yeah get rid of Reversal edge.
I feel like the sheer succes PLUS the extra MTX revenue could be enough. The biggest problem is convincing Bandai Namco executives, but if Harada proved that he can revive Tekken and then make it more popular then ever, I trust he can convince them to greenlight a new SC. Yeah, the previous director left, but I'm sure there are other experienced devs from Project Soul who could lead it.
honestly the problem is that SC comes from the same company and bamco will get more profits from making another tekken game rather than SC,its like rockstar, red dead and GTA both makes money but GTA makes them a ton more so rockstar prefers making another gta rather than spending that resources on a new red dead game! even if another SC happens,it will be in the next 2 or 3 years
It would be difficult because you would have to change some of the characters' attacks to hand to hand combat to match the Tekken characters, and if you did, you might as well create a new character altogether.
Soulcalibur seems to have more interesting strategy , mental warfare if you will, while tekken seems to be simply more mechanically intensive, but the god awful 10-15seconds of watching your character get juggled in games like tekken and mk is why I will always remain in soulcalibur
honestly I would love a new soul calibur that looks more like Soul caliburs beautiful artwork if they did not go for a more realistic style, something similar to what guilty gear did
With how expensive game development is now, I don't think they'll find any worth investing on another Soul Calibur game. SoulCalibur VI took almost 3 years for it to sell 2.5 million, which is below sales standards in modern games. Game development is 3-5 times more expensive than how it was back in 2008-2012. If they ever make another Soul Calibur game, we can only expect to be a fully committed one. Lesser content, smaller roster, dull story presentation, and shallower stages. At this point, I would prefer having a remaster of Soul Calibur III.
To me - Soul Calibur 2 & 3 were the peak; due to the ideal formula in the fighting mechanics; & the Shear amount of content - stuff to do Take all that, give it today's graphics & frame rates & sound quality, online features, cross platform features, & there you go
They probably put Cassandra in Tekken 8 for later.Lizard man can replace Alex.Soulcaliber can be revived if BANDAI would give the game love like they did with TEKKEN 8.
I love how in the same video he cites Tekken 3, a game riddled with new comers, children and apprentices of the previous games as one of the most successful namco fighters then states this was a reason another namco fighter “alienated” fans.
Tekken 3 and Soul Calibur V aree two different stories. The difference with Tekken is that they did the replacing early. The games back then were only one year part. And Tekken really didn't find its identity until 3. Soul Calibur already established in Soul Calibur 1 and had the same main cast for 10+ years and then decided to do replacing in V. That wasn't good.
@@rogaken. Exactly this. And let's be honest. Tekken 3 was the introduction of many players to the franchise, so the replacement of characters was irrelevant for most. SoulCalibur did the replacement when the characters were already established in the minds and hearts of the players for many yeas.
Been waiting for a Soulcalibur sequel since I still play SC6 up to now. Hopefully they don't go with DEI as SquareEnix. That would definitely kill the series.
The series needs to go back to the roots. It needs to stay away from flashy combos and jailed attacked. Get rid of all the meter and one button comebacks, and the game will be a hit. The original premise was a weapon based fighter that was simple and easy to get into. Tekken 8 requires some hefty practice.
If they did something new with the series then yes, SC6 was just more of the same, the fact that they just did a soft-reboot was boring and the story mode was kinda meh... my favourite mode in the series was what they did in 3 with the softcore strategy elements with your troops
I can see Bandai Namco making another SC game the thing is tho I dont think it will be successful on the competitive side and having the mass popularity. Will probably do decent sales wise like SC6 tho
Considering that Tekken 8 will have quite extended support from developers, I wonder if Bandai Namco will have enough resources to allocate them for the new SC title development.
SC6's Lead Dev basically was the only guy at BanNam that cared about SC, and he left and he also said that they didn't get alot of resources from BanNam so it's unlikely they get full backing if a sequel is ok'ed.
@@AmotivatedIndividual I mean SC6 didn't get full backing either. It's not going to get the same funding as Tekken or anything so it won't be a perfect game if we get a sequel

Bandai didn’t even want to make VI Okubo fought to have VI made and he left Bandai after Soul Calibur VI. So don’t expect one for a long time.
@@23NinjaSniperSoulcalibur will never have Tekken numbers in sales but SCVI did much better than Bandai Namco expected.

@@SSP2476 you can keep saying Bandai will make another one but don’t expect another for a long time. Harada has stated don’t ask about Soul Calibur. Also since Okubo left there isn’t a person to lead the game development Bandai will have Harada be part of Tekken because they know Tekken will make them more money. Sorry to bring you back to reality.
@@23NinjaSniperI never said it was coming out anytime soon but it's not dead either.
I loved SC IV b/c it was the first game I played where they bounced. I enjoy VI. Maybe VII could include Stellar Blade.
SC is a series that comes. Loves. Dies and vanished only to come back again and again.
A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold. There should never be an end to it.
@@DashFighti don't care if it's SC 70 i'll come back from the grave and play it. my lord Voldo says so.
bring back brave edges and make two separate guard impacts one for highs and mids and another for lows that acts like tekkens low parry
Go play tekken then lol
@@ToastyYokai This. No need to make the guard impact system that complex when it can already counter EVERY attack direction. It's perfect the way it is now compared to how it use to be.
I honestly don't mind reversal edge, and having two bars of meter at our disposal. While Yoshi may not need it, Geralt heavily benefits from it.
I mean SCVII met & exceeded the goal Bamco gave the dev team.
I’m pretty confident it may return, and if it looks anywhere as good as Tekken 8, graphics and cinematic wise (with hopefully a bigger budget cause SCVI was admittedly made on a shoe-string budget), I’ll be Happy
I DO like Reversal Edge, but yeah its TOO EASILY exploitable so to fix it IMO
1. It costs meter
2. Disable in Online Rank & any competitive play.
MY SOUL STILL BURNS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
SC6 sold extremely well-they are almost certainly already well into development of a sequel
Well SoulCaliber 6 is on sale for $9.99 (down from $59.99) in the PlayStation store. Is it worth it?
Pretty positive sc7 is already in development. 6 was a huge unexpected but much needed success and single handedly revived the series by going back to its roots and adding fun mechanics for newcomers. It will always be my favorite fg franchise and i have faith that sc7 will get an eventual announcement soon. I love t8 but no other fg will ever take the place of sc for me.
Lol it wasn't a success...
I've always followed both series with interest. What's really funny to me is that while I enjoy Yoshimitsu a lot on SC, I hate using him on Tekken 8.
i would really want another soul calibur man
If you can find someone to Champion it for the the company and assure them that it will be successful--
Oh wait, it already happened, it was the latest Sc, and jt failed and the director who fought for it left the company.
2nd time's the charm?
Did it fail? last time i checked it sold decently for the budget
@thehellslayer300 Yeah afaik it exceeded their sales expectations.
Granted it's far less than The big shots lil SF, Tekken & MK but still.
We also need a new deff jam even tho it dont includes rappers maybe movie stars or sum
Def Jam! Now THERE'S a game, that needs a comeback
I like soul calibur I hope they take feedback into consideration if they make another
It should.
We could hope for them asking someon like arc sys to make one, granblue has Sigfried and 2B (well she was guest previous) so would be fun to make a Sam Sho style soul cal
No thanks. That wouldn't be SoulCalibur at all.
Edit: By the way, the Siegfried of Grandblue fantasy is NOT the same Siegfried of SoulCalibur.
Thank you truly for this
Ultimately, it's up to the shareholders. The larger the budget, the more Project Soul can do with SC VII.
project soul should do a hard reboot
@@ektran4205. They already did one.
@@SeventhheavenDK VI wasn't a hard reboot
Short answer: No.
Long answer: No, sir.
And I hate to say it, as a huge SC fan. But Namco just said they cancelled 5 games. I'm sure none were SC7, but we all know how risk-averse big publishers are now. Namco will likely keep milking the Tekken cash cow, rather than invest in creating and supporting SC.
Would like and always been wanting a spear user. The best example: Zhao Yun from Dynasty Warriors
Hilde? Girardot in SC3?
Get rid of the constant cinematics and meter. That's not SoulCalibur. Make it like 2. Give it crossplay and rollback. You got a hit.
Leas cinematics yes, but meter done right can be cool.
@@ToastyYokai We know what works. Stick with it. SC5’s meter system was the furthest it ever should have gone. It was ok in that game, but look how it turned out. Almost killed the franchise.
For real, it needs less cinematics
Absolutely, super moves and rock, paper, scissors just suck all the fun out of the match for me.
Yeah, the previous director left, but I'm sure there are other experienced devs from Project Soul who could lead it.
honestly the problem is that SC comes from the same company and bamco will get more profits from making another tekken game rather than SC,its like rockstar, red dead and GTA both makes money but GTA makes them a ton more so rockstar prefers making another gta rather than spending that resources on a new red dead game! even if another SC happens,it will be in the next 2 or 3 years
I'm baffled that they've yet to include a SC character as a guest.
In Tekken? No need. We have Yoshimitsu.
@@Someone_Somewhere7 i won't play him again until they bring back the Tekken 3 outfit.
@@Spit1990 you better be ready to spend 4 dollars for it then.
@Someone_Somewhere7 I won't know until the time comes, but I KNOW I'm not ready to drop 10 on any skin.
Capcom and NRS are smoking that pack.
It would be difficult because you would have to change some of the characters' attacks to hand to hand combat to match the Tekken characters, and if you did, you might as well create a new character altogether.
Funny enough my friends and I picked soul Calibur back up. But I'm more interested in custom characters and custom character movesets
You know that BAMCO considered SC6 a financial success, and Team Soul was pulled to develop T8, which is basically SC6.5.
This comment is so wrong in many ways.
The legend will never die
As much as I would like another entry into the SC series, I don't see Tekken 8 reviving it.
Plus it doesn’t help that it looks like that Bamco wants it to stay dead
Soulcalibur seems to have more interesting strategy , mental warfare if you will, while tekken seems to be simply more mechanically intensive, but the god awful 10-15seconds of watching your character get juggled in games like tekken and mk is why I will always remain in soulcalibur
I love Tekken & Soul Calibur both
But there's an imbalance;
A Tekken 7 & 8 - but no Soul Calibur 7
We must maintain the continuum of both games!
SC has 7 main games in the series, SC 1-6 and the first game of the series Soul Edge/Blade (the name was changed due to copyright issues).
honestly I would love a new soul calibur that looks more like Soul caliburs beautiful artwork if they did not go for a more realistic style, something similar to what guilty gear did
I'm really hoping they go for a more realistic style like in sc and sc2. Not this anime type stuff
It would be great to have SC revived. I would love to see a revival of Dead or Alive franchise. Sadly that has faded away...
Assuming I live for awhile I'll just be waiting for new sc while playing the old ones and tekken
Does your soul still burn?
they need to make many nods to soul calibur 2 and 3 in many ways also
Waiting for SC7.
To me - Soul Calibur 2 & 3 were the peak; due to the ideal formula in the fighting mechanics; & the
Shear amount of content - stuff to do
Take all that, give it today's graphics & frame rates & sound quality, online features, cross platform features, & there you go
They probably put Cassandra in Tekken 8 for later.Lizard man can replace Alex.Soulcaliber can be revived if BANDAI would give the game love like they did with TEKKEN 8.
Not could, WILL even a roumor that dates back to 2023 a remaster collection... so yes there's your answer.
Remaster of what ?
The continuity didn’t matter anyway since Yun-Seong uses TaeKwonDo even though that fighting style wasn’t invented until the 40s
The series needs to go back to the roots. It needs to stay away from flashy combos and jailed attacked. Get rid of all the meter and one button comebacks, and the game will be a hit. The original premise was a weapon based fighter that was simple and easy to get into. Tekken 8 requires some hefty practice.
Im dying for soul calbur 7
While, I love your presentation.
I don't agree that the models look better in Tekken 8 than they did in 7.
I'm so ready for SC7
My biggest concern is that bandai namco will gut create a soul like they gutted Tekken 8 customization to make room for paid microtransactions
If they did something new with the series then yes, SC6 was just more of the same, the fact that they just did a soft-reboot was boring and the story mode was kinda meh... my favourite mode in the series was what they did in 3 with the softcore strategy elements with your troops
Why can’t soul caliber come out by it self why it gotta wait for tekken?
I can see Bandai Namco making another SC game the thing is tho I dont think it will be successful on the competitive side and having the mass popularity. Will probably do decent sales wise like SC6 tho
Raiden from the metal gear series, best guest character for soulcalibur, even though they are from different time periods
That would be a great fit 👍 👌
Considering that Tekken 8 will have quite extended support from developers, I wonder if Bandai Namco will have enough resources to allocate them for the new SC title development.
SC6's Lead Dev basically was the only guy at BanNam that cared about SC, and he left and he also said that they didn't get alot of resources from BanNam so it's unlikely they get full backing if a sequel is ok'ed.
@@cassardisygo150incorrect, it was harada that put okubo as producer of sc6, after sc5 there was no one either and that didn't stop 6 from being made
Depends. It sold over 2 million copies and right now there’s no news on another SC plus it’s the same company that SC allowed it to fall
@@AmotivatedIndividual I mean SC6 didn't get full backing either. It's not going to get the same funding as Tekken or anything so it won't be a perfect game if we get a sequel
