You can't slap a violin like you could slap the bass
As someone who started violin two months ago, funny how I find this both terrifying and motivating. I thought surely there would be no way we’d have to worry about complex chords since you can’t really play two strings at once. Apparently not.
I also feel less crazy for the days where I play an entire piece and scratch the A string the entire time. Why wasn’t that a thing yesterday?? It’s clear I’ve chosen a very complicated hobby to start at age 40 but I suppose that will keep it interesting. 😂
Damn 40? Why u don’t look a day over 30
hah im starting just now in my mid 30s, feels like such a foreign concept even coming from guitar
Hey, how is it going? I'm a similar age and have been playing for about 6 months now. And after the first successes, I have to say my motivation has slightly dropped. I still practice, but often not as seriously as I used to.

It’s expensive but more importantly I feel like I can do more on my own now that I have a foundation to work with.
Why do you feel like you’re not as motivated anymore?
everyone is forgetting how cello, viola and bass are also classical instruments which deal with these exact things. its not just violin problems

@@noname-oi2gt how so?
"I think we shouldn't compare our instrument"
WORDS !
Cellos and basses are one of the most respected orchestra instrument players in my school because of the fact that the instrument is significantly bigger than a violin and a viola. Especially basses because you have to stand up in order to play the bass. No surprise the cellos and basses are amazing at their jobs.
Bass is the hardest, then Viola, then Cello, then Violin. In general, a bigger instrument will be harder to play, so Cello and Bass players have to play an entirely different way from Violin and Viola players. Imagine playing a Cello on your shoulder.
Honestly, all of them have there own pros and cons. Every instrument us hard in it's own way
As a violinist, I practice for my schools orchestra and we dont have chairs at the moment, so it sucks
The cellos are the only ones who sit atm.
No instrument should be judged by if it's harder or not. It only depends on if you enjoy it or not.

I have a question for all the violin players. Was it hard to get started? Is it hard to memorize all the notes? Was it hard to play? Do you cut yourself cut while playing? And is it a good idea to start practicing with violin as soon as possible when you want to (like in school what I’m saying is should I start the orchestra classes when I want to learn).
Edit: wow u guys rlly blew up the like button o-o I didn’t know asking questions would be entertaining
Well it is a hard instrument and yes it was hard to memorize notes but you just need to practice :D also no we do not cut ourselves when we play. For school I started in fifth grade but that’s for where I live it might be different in other places.
Kinda
Well, it is kinda hard to start, but once you get the basics you'll get exponentially better if you practice. Let's say about 1-4 hours? I do about 2-4. Memorizing the notes are not that hard as long as you practice since the muscle memory will soon set in while you practice. It isn't that hard to play as long as you don't throw something WAY off your level. Also, by cut, sometimes my hands get a bit uhhh... sore after playing the violin for more than 2 hours straight. And yes, it is a good idea to start practicing as soon as possible when you WANT TO. Remember, practice if you want to, forcing yourself will not help you as much as playing the violin with that want.

Pianists: *That’s cute*
No, no, the stringed instruments are more expensive. To play an arrangement of anything 1 pianist can play with 1 piano, you need like 5 to 10 musicians, one piece of primitive wooden junk each. And a conductor. And lots of space and time for rehearsing. Expensive. AND 2 people can share 1 piano for a 4 hands piece. Imagine the orchestra equivalent.
Yes, for 5 to 10 violin it's more expensive, but here they were talking about *one* violin, and for a beginner violin that does not sound like a viola you need to spend at least 500$ I'd say.
For a piano, it's at least 1500$ and if you buy one at this price it will sound like if you buy a 200$ violin.
Uhh, octobass? Look it up
@@Aaaa-fr8sj 1500 only for a beginner piano? I would have expected it to be much higher, closer to 5000 for a beginners piano like yamaha

Maia Grace lol I never used tape cuz my teacher didn't believe in it. I didn't even know you could do that till I already had the notes memorized.
@@mat-sw6pj oh lol my teacher wouldn't let us touch the instrument till we had them 😂
I have a Fender violin and Fender amp. There's frets on mine. But, I guess I'm in the minority.
personally, i don't pay attention to sound so i kinda just hope i'm right lol
OMG, that squeaking sound, as if your door was not oiled enough. Violin has such a wide sound range. 😅
violists: let me introduce myself
Violinist: I practiced violin for 7 hours **cracks neck violently**
Me, a singer:
Get it because I probably wouldn’t be able to talk much after singing for 7 hours
It’s a singing joke
Haha

I can relate to both of those 😳🤚🏼
*WHAT A BIG MOOD*
The posture one tho, I can play 5 minutes of violin, buuuut I can’t move my back for the next seven years
bahaha can relate with my flute, will stand for 30 mins holding my flute and then my arms can no longer be sold in a limb shop ahahahaha
MelissaJVlogs oh please what about piano playing, you cant slouch, you have to sit in perfect straight posture on some little bench lmaoo
Can't move my fingers for the rest of my life
So glad Brett recommended physio as the treatment of choice! Definitely an issue to play an asymmetrical instrument: I had to stop playing the flute because of the pain it caused. Doesn't help to have a connective tissue disorder that makes joint subluxations and dislocations highly likely, either.
When violin = yoga
Tru tho one of the reasons I hated playing violin is cus my violin is slightly too big for me (I should be playing a 7/8 violin but ain't nobody got money for dat) and so my left hand will cry whenever I try to hold down two notes in drastically different places. My left hand is ok now. I also don't play the violin anymore.
THE STRING CROSSING!! i absolutely HATE when it happens
4:55 say what?! “ A Good Violin” 200k-10m dollars why so?! That did not sound so good for such a price “please: reply with a link to back that up that statement…” I never seen any kind of prices for a violin so I’m shocked to hear any amount for it… 🎉 rip 200k-10m for best quality instrument in the world! I love how you can play so many soundtracks with a Violin! Mission impossible, fail moments, someone knocks at the door… danger soundtrack, siren 🚨, ambulance ect… the list is suuuppper loonggg! It’s insane how much you can play with it just 4 strings or its it more on high quality Violins guys!?
“Hardest to make a sound on”
*laughs in flute*
*laughs in French Horn*
laughs in mayonaise
laughs in bagpipe
Lol
*laughs in every wind instrument*
I'm not sure if I believe that

viola joke while saying violin is the hardest instruments lol
That's an insult to all viola players lol.
Us viola players are hurt ☹️
I have to admit: I've taken piano lessons for 8 years (piano is my primary instrument) violin for 7 (picking up the violin again after many years of hiatus) and it's a fact that violin is so awkward to start. Just getting the right tone, bowing, spacing on the fret board, octaves, chords, left hand pizzicato, the insane amount of techniques for the instrument! so hard to do! 😂😂😂 Piano, on the other hand, is easy to start, the most common percussion instrument introduced to everyone! very geometric in layout, but it is also --- hard as f+ to master. With clean pedaling, octaves, tenths, thirds! (ugh!) coordinating two hands and sometimes different rhythms (two against three, three against four, etc), voicings. Piano is its own beast, too. Fun video. You guys always make me LOL. I wonder what is the equivalent of you guys for the piano. 😅
I wanna thank you two for helping me through my years, i just got a violin and you guys have inspired me to play the violin now!
yay!!!
MORE PAIN!!!
Ling Ling can play violin, but violin can't play Ling ling.
Mind blown
in soviet russia it does
Cuz Ling Ling doesn’t play around
In Soviet Russia, violin plays you
I dont get this joke
to people comparing piano with violin:
they're totally different, violin is the absolutely hardest to begin, but piano is the hardest to improve and master.
You think? My sister plays both instruments but is progressing way faster on the piano.
@@mikelyu9404 loads of people can play the piano but reality is they're shit at it. including me and prolly your sis.
@@mikelyu9404 8ts easier to progress piano at the start which is why many believe it is simple but piano is extremely hard to properly master and be good at
Chantal De Paulis Trueeee 👌👌👌👍
The piano is hard because if you over play it your wrist will start hurting
And if your hands are small it’s hard to reach octaves
Etc.....
rima nehme bitches be complaining about small hands and octaves. It’s me, I’m bitches.
As a Grade 5 Violin Player, I can see this as an absolute win 😢 I have experienced all of these my entire life playing violin. (I started at 5 years old but quit for 1 year in grade 1 and started again in Grade 2)
As a violinist, I had to do 69 sessions of therapy to recover from twinkle twinkle little star
I gave up on violin and went to viola. Guess what? I still suck
Try the fiddle, maybe you'll get lucky
But with viola you will fit in
Gracie Hayes underrated
That's cause all string orchestral instruments are hard 😂
*I N T E R E S T I N G*
I've played violin for 7 years and I agree with everything they said. But It also an amazing istrument. It's worth it.
same lol
Been playing it for 3 months, I definitely don't practice as much but I wouldn't trade it for anything else I can get experience-wise.
Yes, I agree, I also played the violin for now 8 years and I have progressed a lot, It's such an amazing instrument
I’ve been playing for 9 years lol
@@onesemiprofessionalidiot2438 niceeee
fr tho, i've been playing for seven years and most of these things are second nature at this point, but as a beginner it was so hard, at the time i had a dog and i felt so bad everytime i practiced
One of the easiest to burn but then you think about your wallet
