Have you heard the medieval version? th-cam.com/video/TeFiIjMIlRw/w-d-xo.html I really like the concept of the channel. Medieval versions of popular songs. I especially like the re-writing, to get the language right.
You tear up, he tears up, the drummer tear up, I tear up, and everybody that has a soul tears up! We all can relate to those lyrics and the feeling bond to them to several different situations, we'd all been that broken.
For me it's the sort of defeated "whatever makes you happy" that follows the scream that gets me. Like the adrenaline drop after an intense moment. So well-crafted
I was somewhere in that crowd, and at the time it was well known that Thom had come to hate performing Creep, so it was a fantastic surprise that it wasn't just performed, but performed masterfully and with full commitment. And even in a crowd of tens of thousands, the performance made it feel intimate and personal.
As odd as this is, my late father, born in 1940, loved this song. He loved the lyrics, the arrangement. Not at all his usual preference. I feel so much warmth to have shared connections like this with him.
Jotaro_Kujo because when u do a lot of coke ur jaw locks up like that even Beth say she probably shouldn’t mention it then says “rockstar lifestyle” what do u think she meant 🤣🤣
I really love the way you attend to and appreciate so many details of his vocal performance at once, on a variety of dimensions. It's a real study in musical appreciation. Appreciation is a real skill that takes development and something anyone can work on to increase their enjoyment of music.

That has become one of my favorite songs now. I always enjoy watching your reactions. They are very informative, and I learn quite a bit from them. I also enjoy watching how you are so moved by the songs. You are a beautiful woman inside, and out. Thank you for doing what you do, and keep it up.
Yeap, much of the greatness of this song is in the way he is able to convey the emotional of what this song is lyrically about with his vocal performance, both in studio and various live performances.
I thank Thom Yorke and his singing of Creep for giving me the confidence as a teenager in vocal lessons and competitions to *PUSH MY VOICE* into an area that we thought I could do, but it hurt. Going from head to chest push fixed that problem and now they sound the same.
You mention "someone who sees the world differently" and I came here to see people react to this song the same as I did but you reacted very differently. And now all I can think of is your beautiful mind reacting to the world in a beautiful way differently than I do and I love it. In all the reactions I watched to this song and how others and myself enjoyed it, yours was different. It was like a breathe of fresh air. Your enjoyment to this song and your way of thinking was beautiful. I hope to see more peace of mind from you in your reactions :)
As a dude rapidly approaching 40, I feel so lucky to have had so much good music like this right as I was developing my own tastes. No matter what genre you were into, the early/mid 90s had good flavors for everybody.
THANK YOU for your reaction to this song... It's put into words what I could never express about how Thom's singing conveys emotion... Made me appreciate it in whole new light
That song and his voice always... ALWAYS stabs me right in the heart. I know that pain all too well. "I'm a weirdo. What the Hell am I doing here? I don't belong here." The desperate longing in his voice. Wanting something, someone that You feel is so far above you. To sing that song light and bright would ruin it. He nails it, you can hear the pain, feel his frustration and isolation... And it hurts. And if it doesn't hurt you, then you just can't feel or lived a perfectly blessed life and are probably that person from the "In Crowd" that caused that longing and pain in people like Tom, myself and so many others. *(slow blinks)* I am gonna go huddle in the corner of my bed, hug my Plushie bat and play my playlist with this song on it.

Beth your vocal coach reviews are so interesting. you talk about technique and emotion and are such fun to watch. I always watch the original music vid after watching your review and it is so much more interesting with your comments in my head as i watch. Cheers
It is the thing every vocal coach, as it is of logic, demonstrates how he sings and what he does as of these being arranged and programmed. But in reality and given the fact that he was pilled and drugged to the gills, he never thought any of these, it was natural, it was from the heart cause this man was hurting. She actually does such a great work analyzing it, really
I've noticed quite a few people make the comments about his mouth movements, Thom does the mouth movements to stretch his jaw, as you'll notice he needs to do to sing the lyrics Run, Run near the end of the song also He has been described by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest and most influential singers of his generation!!!
Yorke does actually 'jolt' his jaw in a lot of performances and seems to have it done it for most of his 25+ years of performing. Which causes me to think maybe it is a tension issue? But we may never know!
@@cydrych not disagreeing with that statement at all, but that jaw came from a lad! not the hills of Colombia, probably Amsterdam back in those days! 😊😊 and cheers for the reply 6 months down the line!!!!😉😉 also happy new my friend!

I always found the way he sings 'feather' in the song brilliant. You can hear the way in which a feather falls in the way he sings it. It's surely intentional. I always imagine a feather falling down rocking side to side.
Wooow Just love to sing that song. That high bridge is on the sweet spot for me, so it's impossible not to feel wonderful even singing such a sad song .. Well.. as steven Wilson once said: "sad songs makes me happy, happy songs make me feel miserable"
Great song. Two members of The Hollies got co-writing credits (and mailbox money) because the "Run, run, run" bit of Creep is exactly the same riff as the verse for "Air that I Breathe".
I remember reading about Radiohead when they made their cameo "appearance" on South Park ("Scott Tenorman Must Die"). I'm paraphrasing, but it was basically "Am I really going to tell one of the most emotive performers in the world that he needs to emote MORE?? How could I do that?" And, yep, he was right.
Beth, how much of his performance choices do you think were influenced by the fact that the band soured on this tune almost immediately, but still had to perform it as it was the big single early on? "Anti -performance" seems to have been a big thing in the early 90s. Love the work you do!
