Return to Locklair Road, the August 1976 murder site of the Sumter County Does
Filmed in late October 2022. Subsequently I have done more research. My stated theories regarding the tree cover to the east may not be correct. It’s very difficult to gauge what Locklair Road looked like in 1976.
Regardless, this is a more accurate depiction of where the murders occurred than my prior video from fall 2019, filmed a mile away on the north end of Locklair Road.
The Sumter County Does were identified in January 2021 by DNA Doe Project as Pamela Mae Buckley and James Paul Freund. The murders occurred on August 9, 1976 and remain unsolved.
This is the photograph of the bodies location I referred to several times during the video: imgur.com/a/w61polD
This is the south side entrance to Locklair. The road at left goes directly over I-95. Note the road sign, which was absent when I visited in 2022: imgur.com/a/LP1PnUm
BTW, several times during the video you'll see a red sign at right regarding Drug Checkpoint. I didn't notice that while filming.
46 years, not 56. My math betrayed at close.

Ragged Island parking area, site of 1987 Colonial Parkway murders
มุมมอง 9811 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ragged Island was the site of the September 1987 murders of David Knobling and Robin Edwards, consensus linked as the second pair of victims among the Colonial Parkway murders. I visited the Ragged Island parking area and filmed this video in late October 2022. It is meant as an overview of Ragged Island and the general area of the crime. The commentary itself is not related to the murders. The...
Spare me the hype about Aldi fast checkout
มุมมอง 9872 ปีที่แล้ว
On edit: Extreme kudos to Aldi for making the necessary changes, and within months of this video. The same Aldi now had 10 self-checkout registers. I am in and out of the store within minutes. And consequently I shop there more frequently. The tone is appropriate. The experience is particularly maddening because I never use a cart. I've got a sturdy box that I bring to Aldi. This haul was $23. ...
Brief Miami hail storm provides splendid excuse to avoid mowing front lawn
มุมมอง 3642 ปีที่แล้ว
I heard splats on the roof and knew it had to be a surprise late afternoon hail storm. I grabbed the trust Canon camera and caught just enough of it. Nature has impressive distribution. I didn't detect an overload in any particular area. Also very convenient timing because after cutting the back yard yesterday I didn't want to deal with the front today. It is extremely important to ignore the l...
This is not about analytics...Monon High Bridge in Delphi
มุมมอง 7172 ปีที่แล้ว
During the video I said Bridge Guy was filmed in the area near the second to last platform. As I walked further I realized that was much too far away. Libby actually filmed him when he was roughly parallel to the final platform, which is front left in this video. After filming this video I quickly discovered that the planks and footing toward the end of the bridge are vastly superior to anythin...
Middle of bridge after two whirlybird wobbles...Monon High Bridge in Delphi
มุมมอง 4672 ปีที่แล้ว
The middle of the bridge is considerably less worn than the outset. I got overly confident and took longer strides. Twice my lead foot sunk into a shockingly soft plank and I wobbled backwards, launching a full throttle whirlybird arm motion to regain balance. The first one was particularly bad. I thought I was going to land on my back. That would have been a test of the aging worn planks to ha...
Why am I crossing this thing?...Monon High Bridge in Delphi
มุมมอง 2.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
At this point I was surprised and not altogether pleased that I was actually onto the bridge and had semi committed to crossing. There was work being done on the first pillar, hence a crane and bobcat near the foot of the bridge. It was 40 degrees but the forecast had been 30. I was heavily jacketed and not feeling nimble. Floridians aren't accustomed to all that bulk. No chance I was going to ...
First impressions Monon High Bridge Delphi, November 2019
มุมมอง 1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I visited Delphi and the Monon High Bridge Trail on November 3, 2019. I had no idea if I would cross the bridge. Frankly the temporary planks influenced my decision because they served as cheat code over the early most troubled portions. Early stage of the bridge is by far the most worn and gapped. It's obvious most people who do venture onto the bridge do so only briefly, on the scenic area ab...
Feral cat learns social distancing

Shake yourself off then get blasted again. 5 billion stars to my two Hoont motion sensor sprinklers. I get so sick of the tame worthless solutions like citrus spray. The next day I moved the sprinkler to the other side of the ornamental grass. The cat tried to sneak around the back and got blasted again. Now he's smelling up lawns down the block.
Leonard Park memorial tribute to Burger Chef 1978 murder victims, Speedway, IN
มุมมอง 8404 ปีที่แล้ว
This memorial tribute at Leonard Park was dedicated in November 2018, not far from the former Burger Chef building in Speedway, Indiana. There is a marble bench and also four newly planted red oak trees, each one with a plaque including a short biography of the victim. I hope I pronounced the names correctly in the video. They are Ruth Shelton, Jayne Friedt, Mark Flemmonds, and Daniel Roy Davis
Monon High Bridge Delphi...panning down hill and back toward red rail
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The end of this video pans down the steep hill, then backward toward the much more gentle slope down the hill 30 yards behind the bridge. While crossing the bridge I fully recognized why someone would accelerate pace during the second half, and why Abby and Libby wouldn't be alarmed by that. It is normal to speed up once you get a feel for things. Down the hill at immediate left is so severe I ...
Burial site of Sumter County Does
มุมมอง 1.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
These are the grave markers for the Sumter County Does, at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Oswego, South Carolina. Unidentified murder victims found alongside I-95 on August 9, 1976. As noted on the grave markers, the burials were delayed a full year until August 1977, with the bodies held in see-through airtight caskets previously, potentially enabling visual identification. That di...
Locklair Road...murder site of Sumter County Does 1976
มุมมอง 2.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the remote dirt road where the murders occurred in August 1976, approximately 3/4 mile east from an I-95 north exit ramp near Sumter, South Carolina. The young couple has never been identified, despite persistent efforts including a short segment on Unsolved Mysteries in the mid 1990s. There is now a chance at identification through genetic genealogy...both Does are on the pending list ...
Beyond rail at Monon High Bridge Trail Delphi..."Theater Ramp" down the hill
มุมมอง 2.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Very few Delphi videos have gone beyond the end of the bridge so nobody wants to believe a much more gentle route down the hill was available. Meanwhile perhaps 100 feet behind the bridge at left I discovered a gentle theater ramp switch back. You never leave tree cover to reach this area. No need to free fall down a sharp embankment just beyond the bridge. I was always amazed nobody had gone b...

Let the big dog HUNT... Best opening ever!
So many wasted 1st and goal chances did it for the Noles.
I love these videos that include the commercials. I miss the 90s. 😂😂
Rumour has it, that Calcavecchia no longer requires his 25 grams of daily fibre to stay regular. He just watches re runs of this..
This is the greatest game in college football history.
This college football game was a great classic it features the Rock Dwayne Johnson and a player named Mancini Warren Sapp and it also featured a game that features a battle of #1 vs #2 2 most storied college football programs in the 1991 college football season fighting for a championship opportunity!
Went to high school with Miami’s punter. One of the biggest assholes I’ve ever come across.
I’m his nephew!!!!! Fred is my great uncle!
That pregame fracas in the endzone was the reason ND eventually created a separate visitor's locker room entrance
commercials make you miss the 80s
Greatest regular season college football game in history. GO CANES !!!
Pac 10 was strong this year. Washington beating Oklahoma, and UCLA beating Miami
A real back & forth battle. Between 2 talented teams. Miami was sloppy at times during this game.
more like Pedophiles v Convicts... am i right??? asking for a friend... fax!!!
I miss when Florida State, Miami, and Nebraska were great. It just felt right.
always will be remembered for the one bad call (among several) that handed a cheap victory to Notre Dame. ND had no business stepping on the field with a team as talented as Miami at the time.
Pffffffffffttttt. Did you even watch the game? I was there. ND was better. The last Miami TD that was never caught I hope you're talking about. WR never had possession of the ball. Replays clearly show it. So the 2 pt conversion is moot at that point. Maybe if Miami learned how to hang onto the ball like all those TV sets and stereo they stole, the Convicts could have won the game.
I was at this game as a USC fan. I remember that throughout the game Oklahoma would have 3rd and long (5 to 35 yards). And each time Oklahoma would make a first down. The USC defense would celebrate stopping OU after every first and second down play. But on third down Oklahoma would pick up the first down. I hated that SC kept celebrating because OU was blasting through them when it counted. I thought OU was the better team. But then Switzer did something odd. On the OU drive before this SC TD, OU had fourth and inches in their own territory, but it was inches, inches! I thought, OU would go for the first because they were picking up first downs with ease. But Switzer punted. 🤷 I've always blamed Switzer for not trusting his powerful offense, rather than thinking that SC outplayed OU.
Kevin Williams was a track star
Alydar covered more track( feet) in those epic races with Affirmed & to only lose by a head.
The after effects of this game changed the whole football landscape Lou holzt would win his only championship, jimmy Johnson go on and build the greatest cowboys dynasty and Miami would go on and have its best four year run 89-92 in in school history winning two national championships we would get introduced to a guy named Randle the trill hill the next year the the u swagger would hit it’s all time high
If there are animatronics inside I would stay away sir.
Lou Holtz tipping the scales at 89 pounds.
Affirmed had issues. Jockey seat flew off
Great game or the greatest game? Go Irish!
Poor ride on Affirmed, giving Slew a solo lead with a 24 first quarter.
Simmons saved the day, breaking up that interception. OU never brought any pressure on the drive. Soft.
Not to say the outcome would have been different, but why didn’t Affirmed’s jockey push him early? Letting a horse of Seattle Slew’s caliber set a slow pace with a 4 length lead is suicidal.
3rd down shift to center and down the ball for a 4th down straight shot fg. Smh
That 45-yard FG by Huerta to cut it to 16-10 was the forgotten moment in the game. Back in those days, even a lot of NFL kickers couldn't make kicks from that distance off a grass field (Norwood was one of many). He misses that and it's probably game over, especially after Miami went backwards on the three previous plays. Florida State would have had all the momentum.
A few hours later Kirk Gibson came off the bench and took Dennis Eckersley downtown and won Game 1 for the Dodgers
All things being equal, a 4 year old beats a 3 year old in a weight-for-age race (e.g. Affirmed the next year against Spectacular Bid). Having said that, I believe Slew was the better horse, and a true all-timer.
Affirmed Likes to Dictate up Front and This is What Happens When a Better Horse With More Speed Enters The Same Race
One year before the University of Miami became The U on the field.
And lost to Tennessee
Miami had a terrible defense that year.
It took about 20+ years until fsu had a field goal kick go there way, "the Block at the rock".
As a FSU freshman at that game, it was so heartbreaking but what a game. Miss CFB like this
Da lease contract 2035 DolphindI hope build orange bowl 2
I miss orange bowl dat stadium was loud road QB
I was ,17 yrs old highschool said would hoston wen school next I told win
Too bad the quality is so crappy. Slew was the greater horse by far.
Those murders were over 45 years ago: the building has been vacant all this time ? They should tear it down already. Hope the killer(s) will be at least identified someday. Are investigators still working this case ?
Testaverde was HORRIFIC.
No special intro music for such a big game.
We can appreciate Slew's accomplishment without hating on Affirmed. Affirmed was a triple crown winner and he deserves respect. To me, its very similar to American Pharoah and Justify.
Weird to think JJ was 0-3 in Miami bowl games at one time. More than compensated afterwards.
