Good clean fun - As a boy I used to watch Colchester United at their old ground, Layer Road every game (2000's). In the stands there was a lad with down's syndrome that would watch and cheer every week. From every corner of the ground you could audibly hear him sing "The referees a WINE GUM" as I believe this is what he thought the fans were singing.
From time to time in unison, the whole ground would join in repeating the chant and even drew some waves and acknowledgement from the referees. He became a legend in the stands and people used to buy him packs of wine gums and bring them to the game for him. He loved it, the fans loved it and even the referees loved it sometimes when they were in on the joke - good clean and wholesome fun.

Arsenal fan here & I missed the title clash at the Emirates v City, arguably the biggest game of Arsenal’s recent history because of a lapse in my memory & being momentarily blinded with eagerness by being asked out on a first date. She’s a stunner, & I leapt to accept the offer. I was debating asking to reschedule but I didn’t want to blow my chance with a lady who’s probably out of my league, but I also didn’t want to miss the Arsenal potentially taking a huge step towards clinching the league. I opted for the date instead & Arsenal of course went on to bottle it & I’m now in a very happy, nearly year long relationship. Sometimes soldiers fall for the greater good. Much love to all the slugs out there.

I think something else that Man Utd will need to consider/something that could be an issue for them if they leave finding a new manager too late is they will have to compete with the biggest clubs for their next manager. We already know at the end of the season both Barcelona and Liverpool will be hiring new managers. Tuchel is probably going to be sacked meaning Bayern will also be hiring a new manager. There is going to be big competition for available managers if Utd decide to move on from Ten Hag at the end of this season

    Soldier's lost in battle:
I missed this weekends FA Cup tie between Leicester and Birmingham due to my long-distance partner coming to UK which only happens monthly.
I set notifications on a football scores app for only this game. As we are engaging in some 'fleet services roleplay', I hear the 'swoosh, ding' from my phone.
Knowing this is an update from the game, 2 minutes later I go for an early Ranieri-like tinker and ask to swap positions, involving her turning around, so I can quickly check who scored.
After seeing Leicester are 1-0 up and it's a Vardy goal with an Albrighton assist, I am in nostalgic dreamland. All I could thing about for the rest of the session is how good Albrightons cross probably was.
Looking back, the only thing that could have made the whole scenario better, is upon completion of said roleplay, I said 'look at the swaz on that jizz!'.
P.S. I'm also the MA student 'cheeky nosh off' guy from a while back, and I'm proud to say I now have a job in the industry and am loving it. Up the slugs.

Soldiers lost in battle. I’m a Newcastle fan that went to every champions league game this season bar one, which one? PSG 4-1 at home. Reason being, months ago I agreed I’d go to a 5sos concert with my girlfriend as none of her friends wanted to, plus why would I be doing anything on a random weekday night? It killed me. I avoided any knowledge of the game and watched it the next day blindly, was absolutely buzzing with the game and result, which made it worse that I missed what’s arguably our best result in the past 20 years…

You were half right Flav about Ratcliffe selling. Ratcliffe gets first rights to match the offer on any full sale before a third party and that any full sale not made to Ratcliffe has to be at a minimum of $33 per share.
Whilst obviously not impossible, this is quite unlikely, which is why Ratcliffe has paid so far over market value. Ratcliffe clearly wants the club and this is the best/only way in for him at the moment.

I have an incredible soldiers lost at war, it’s long but worth it.
I’m a relatively new spurs fan that fell in love with the style of play, after moving away from my home side. And after the crime committee at City, I went to check the calendar, I know they won’t, and I see a BBQ for my Girlfriend at the times terminally ill uncle. I mention to her then that if spurs get to the final I will be missing that, a threat I’ve made a lot but rarely used.
First leg of Ajax comes, she’s almost excited we lost heavily. This BBQ is Important. So we’re in the pub watching the second leg, and Lucas Moura’s comeback was celebrated and followed by an immediate argument that lasted up until the final. That I watched at a fucking BBQ, next to some preppy rugby kid. I was in practical tears as the handball was given and was being asked if it was offside.
She took the entire run from me.
Best part is we broke up a year later as she tried to have sex with me during spurs Leicester in the covid season. I just couldn’t take the agg anymore. The uncle survived and got a Thai bride. It was all in vain.

Im a Liverpool fan and once missed qpr 2-3 Liverpool back in 2014 because of my grandmothers birthday lunch. Was going to be my first away game. I was delighted when I checked the score with 10 minutes left to see we were winning 1-0 courtesy of a Richard dunne own goal…shock. I was happy with the fact I had potentially missed a boring 1-0 win where the only goal was an own goal. However as I was leaving the establishment I checked the final score it was 3-2! 3-2! With 4 goals in the last 8 minutes I was happy we won but fuming I had missed it. Tough one to take. Lunch was good though

With all due respect to manchester united it is a mess no manager wants to touch. Antonio Conte Preffered coming to tottenham ( a club that he hated ) over manchester united. As big as man u are the infrastructure ain't there. Yes trophies matter but most managers prefer to build a stature first ( xavi at barca is a prime example of someone not ready for the challenge despite having the experience) same goes for ange. He is finding his feet and hasn't even challenged for a title yet in uk. Yes he did incredible at celtic and in Japan but we are talking competing in a 20 team league. Weird flex - I just can’t get thrown off a bucking bronco. No matter how fast or aggressive they control it to throw me off, I always manage to stick on like a fucking limpet. I’m not proud of it, and it’s almost humiliating spinning and jolting on this stupid fucking bull at breakneck speeds, but when they stop the ride and concede defeat to me and the crowd watching applauds I can’t help but feel a bit like John Wayne with a smug smile on my face. Only forwards

Have to agree pretty much zero reason AP would go to Man U (and I'm not a fan of either club). Also Man U need more than an elder statesman. They've had veteran galactico-level managers (Van Gaal, Mourinho), tried several "fashionable" tacticians, a young old boy and the supposed Ferguson Jnr, and none worked. Can't say they were all just bad managers so obviously more to it than that.

City aren't getting punished. They're busy meeting govt officials ffs..... People really think the UK would risk it's relationship with UAE by publicly embarrassing Sheikh Mansour??
They'll get a measle fine or something. That's it.

Unfortunately Flav is right, a lot of Utd fans are deluded and are spoilt from the past. But if like me and you started following them before Fergie started doing bits, you will await the next cycle which looks more and more evergreen by the day. 😘

My bit of good clean fun at the football goes thusly. Maybe not fully clean but very fun. Bristol city away pre-season vs Plymouth. As a boy from Exeter I was up for it. Not much happened for most the game but the heat and alcohol got to us. Among other chants was one that singled out on specific man. One man in the front seats with his daughter. We decided that he was yewtree. We then chanted “are you Saville, are you Saville, are you Saville in disguise.” We did this for so long the man had to move seat. I posit that good clean fun peaks at calling another man a nonce. Bristol won 1-0. Cheers lads x

Soldiers lost in battle- my mate missed the 2022 world cup final, arguably the best football match ever and definitely the best I've ever seen, because his girlfriend booked them tickets for Harry Potter at the cinema as a surprise. To this day he pretends he isn't gutted to have missed it, but there's a look in him eye that tells you he's lying every time.

My weird flex, due to my neurodiversity, my senses are slightly different than the “norm”. I have super smell, and identify people by their smell like a dog. I also don’t feel the cold until it gets below -2 degrees. I am however more sensitive to warm temperatures.

Certain to take them back up? Wouldn’t be so sure about that. Plenty of big clubs get stuck in league one for at least a few seasons. Sunderland and Ipswich are two examples that have now got out, but Portsmouth, Charlton, Bolton etc are still in League One
