flavs ability to fill dead air is outstanding, when jim was thinking of players who’d taken the most corners he suggested “beckham”, “trent”, “becks” and “alexander-arnold”. they should consider inviting him on more often.
I think an important thing is football is being able to laugh at yourself, to not take the journey too seriously and Flav manages to grant me that every time I start to think we're going somewhere. This week has been one of my most hopeful as a united fan in a while, bringing amorim in, talk about what players we might sign, mentions of alphonso Davies, james' videos on our rebuild, I was feeling excited for the rest of the season. Then I turn on this podcast and BAM, flav talking about how our new manager was bending over for west ham in the summer. One must beware hubris. Thank you Flav for bringing this slug back down to earth.
I was the mascot for Blackpool vs Birmingham when I was about 5 around (1997). I banged 2 past Phil barnes bottom bins. He stood motionless by the power and direction of the strike. I was probably around 14 when it dawned on me that he let it in, despite minor doubts over the years. Which means I dined out on the confidence from the 2 strikes for at least 8 years! Thank you Phil barnes, I think I would’ve just ended it all if you’d David james’d me

Imagine my adulation seeing Aberdeen mentioned in the running order for this episode - finally, my favourite football podcast talking about my team as we revel in one of the most exciting periods of supporting the club in my lifetime - only for my feverish enthusiasm to be quickly extinguished as the lad's do their best to disguise their schoolgirl laughter at the fact that Aberdeen, the most successful Scottish club in Europe, have added a star on their shirt for the "European community shield". 😔
Right Jim. Bit of manuka chat here. I used to be a singer so can sympathise with the throat issues. Manuka is key and worth the investment, it has saved my performances multiple times. I’m not sure about having it on toast though. What I used to do is get a small amount on a teaspoon (1/4-1/2 teaspoon sort of amount) and place it on my tongue and just leave it there. Let it work itself down your throat and you will experience vocal lubrication like never before. I would do this in the break between sets and also afterwards as it aided with recovery too. A £25 pot of honey that you can use dozens of times and will save you multiple videos is worth the investment. GET IT DONE!

As a United fan I just wanted to address James' question about having less patience because of our recent managerial woes; I think it's the opposite, certainly for me anyway. Because of the constant hope/disappointment cycle you develop apathy and that lack of emotion allows for more patience. I was willing to ride out the rest of the season with Ten Hag and if that doesn't scream patience, nothing does. I'm willing to give Amorim his contract to produce something. In every fan base there are going to be fickle people who flip/flop over a result or two and those voices get amplified by social media but I think the vast majority of the fanbase are like me.

As an aberdeen fan. What’s happening up here is amazing and long may it last. Jimmy thelin has come in and built a fergie like mentality within the team. We genuinely believe we will win every game we play. It’s so refreshing to have a manager who shows no fear of the arse cheeks of Scottish football (rangers and celtic). Over 250 days without losing at pittodrie, 15 different goal scorers already this year. there definitely is something happening here. Flav tread carefully about your aberdeen star slander, cup winners cup was a huge trophy back then. We beat Bayern who were full of world champions with Germany and we are the last team to beat Madrid in a European final. Also rangers have 5 stars on their strip for Just being the “best” so let’s give them some stick for that in the next pod.
