4:00-5:30 just might be the greatest 90 seconds of music I've ever heard. The first 60 seconds gives me the chills, and the last 30 melts my face off with Will Swan's ability to shred like none other.
First off I love the song. Secondly I absolutely love the section you mentioned absolutely. I also thought he must have been inspired by or had listened to Robert Fripp's playing see Brian Eno's song/ St. Elmo's Fire
"Overcome by circumstance Separated by consequence I fell lower than before Lower than I have before If I could just get through to you We could put in the final screws. To the barricade the door And start back where we were" they really make great music and great lyrics
Once you manage to free yourself from attachment when it comes to DGD's many vocalists, you start to enjoy the music so much more. No matter what singer they have, I always enjoy the fuck out of their material.
Exactly. The more I listen, the more I realize how dumb I've sounded hating on Tillian over the years & that with where they've progressed to be musically today, they kinda need Tillian. Tillian has way more range & flashiness than either Kurt or Jonny & can add a lot more to a song. & it seems like for the most part, they do a really good job of writing together to make sure everyone sounds great. Like it seems like they change their style a little to match whatever vocalist they have. Or maybe that was their natural progression or different people bring different things to the creative process. I can't lie, I love Jonny's voice the most, & Kurt's great but he's kinda just whatever to me - not a huge fan of the Kurt Era at all, but Jonny had to go no matter what. I feel like they can reach more ears with Tillian than any other vocalist, especially heroin era Jonny.
You all need to chill with vocalist talk. Tillian is great, Kurt was great, Jonny was great. They all brought something to the table, and regardless of any drama, every single song DGD has put out is phenomenal. There's a reason Kurt and Jonny aren't in DGD anymore and we should keep it to that. Tillian is here now and being a fan of DGD for about 6 years, I'm not complaining, he's a fantastic vocalist and Acceptance Speech is a great album. Second best after DBM2. So everyone needs to cool it.
Yes each member has brought something fresh periodically, however Tilian just doesn't do it justice. Reason being Kurt and Jonny had different pitches throughout their songs and Tilian just hits only high notes 99.9 percent of this album and gets annoying
I agree Camille. Good to see someone who sees the greater qualities of all three vocalists and their roles [whether former or current] in the band without actually dissing them.
I honestly Love that there have been 3 different Vocalists. I have a different album and sound to pull from based off my mood and no matter what its great because DGD is so fucking rad
In my view, this is the best album that has brought dgd, do not say that other albums are bad, but this record will never get bored I accept it, this album is awesome
holy shit. this band has come a long way, and, in my mind, has only gotten better. through all of the line up changes and drama, i feel that it has made them a more well rounded band. tillian fits in so well and really compliments jon and the rest of the band. i still love jonny and kurt all the same and they were nothing short of amazing. i will continue to love and support this band for as long as i can. DGD for life!
Tilian is great. I'm glad he's finally getting recognition! Dance Gavin Dance always seems to amaze me, all of their songs are unique and make you feel something. This is no doubt their best song to date.
Everyone is hating. I started listening to DGD in 06, and loved the Craig/Mess lineup. I heard this album the other day and I feel this is their finest product as a band.
Tilian is great, I feel like real DGD fans are always going to love DGD not by the singer but the content they provide, which is an exposure to raw and real feelings through all instruments and aspects.
Fuckin shit, Will. You're a guitar god and this solidifies it. Layers and layers of that sexy modern Hendrix style I crave to emulate from my fingertips
Someone could be born, explore, cry, whisper, scream, marry, and pass away to DGD songs; Their music simply can't be ignored. Their music is like the lover and friend you've never had.
I was totally jamming to this song while doing math homework, then the song slowed down at 4:02 and I found myself crying hysterically. That is how you know a song affects you emotionally. Music is such a powerful thing.
Jon mess and quality of instruments has definitely improved I agree with Erik but the vocals of the old vocalists were just as great and didn’t get enough potential with quality sound until they went solo
As a die hard DGD fan from the get go. I have a few found appreciation for tillian. Every vocalist had their own spin on this band. But tillian really just... Fuckin ices my cake, herm I mean the cake. ☺️👌
One of the most legendary, godly intros of all time. Will Swan is proof that you don't have to play like Tosin Abasi to be a great. I wish DGD would break down their creative process so I could truly see just how much he puts into each song.
this whole album is amazing and this song is such a perfect closer for it, revisiting for the ten year anniversary of its release and it still feels ahead of its time, tilian did an amazing job on this as his debut with the band. I still remember playing it for the first time and being blown away when he comes in on jesus H macy. At :49 where his voice begins soaring over top of Jons screaming here is incredible, hes like an angel.
i love how much DGD have evolved over the years. Every album they bring out is so fresh and new. I do prefer Jonny's voice, but the new singer seems to suit their current sound very well. Loving this album.
So always I notice in bands that have had many vocalist changes such as this band I see that people hate on Tillians unique voice, and well how this album is supposedly bad compared to their older albums well I like all their albums with all 3 vocalist. JC is a beast Kurt is great, but Tillian has a unique voice just saying and this album is dope
It was hard to distinguish jonnys voice from kurts, but both are great. Lemon meringue tie and uneasy hearts weigh the most are two of my favorite dgd songs. At first hearing tillian I thought the dgd I fell in love with was dead, but this song changed my perspective. Though it doesn't have jonnys apathy and gruff, tillian gives the band a more idk romantic aesthetic to it. In my opinion... I'm excited to see how dgd progresses, and hopefully jonny doesn't become an axl rose
nolskeeet I get what he's saying. Tilian's vocals are drastically different to any vocalist DGD ever had prior to his arrival. Jonny and Kurt are both pretty distinctively different vocalists, but they had a similar style as far as DGD's sound was concerned. When I first heard Tilian I HATED it, but I actually gave it a chance for more than 15 seconds and now I'm pretty sure Acceptance is one of my favorite DGD albums. I'm really glad I finally decided to give him a chance.
***** Yes im right there with you, at first when i heard Tilian i was like, Meh... But after listening and relistening and listening over and over again, i feel Tilian is definitely the best fit for DGD. I'm anxiously awaiting Instant Gratification now. Im so impatient.. they've been teasing this album for months now. 4/14 cant come soon enough.
MrCaseHarts Did you even read the entire comment? Come on man, keep up. You seriously can't even attempt to draw comparisons between Jonny and Kurt without some mouth breather interjecting with 'but they sound nothing alike!!!!1!1!1!'
This song honestly one my favorites for the last 6 months. The guitar in the song was amazing the cleans and screams mixed well and the lyrics honestly are amazing. I've been a fan of DGD for awhile now but I honestly thought they couldn't pull another good singer out there ass again once johnny left again but damn Tillian killed it at least for me for this album. Can't wait for more.
I’m an African American male raised in urban or inner city. This kinda music easily undoubtedly viewed as demonic or white boy shit. But then I discovered JC and those soulful vocals drew me in. Then he left. And I was lost. I realized though i followed him where he went he was lacking the fullness of THIS BAND, THIS SCREAMER I swore off dgd for a while cause to me Kurt was whiny then tillian came and I was just livid(I cried when dtbm2 came out!! But i realized how much the instrumentation mattered to me and I went to rexplore dgd, initially just choosing to hear the new vocalists as another instrument used by the band. That was then happy to say now I just love how mind blowing this band of eras has been. Never thought I’d be here loving a song with Tillian but this is one of my all time faves!!!
This track is Definitely my favorite on this album, followed by Death of the Robot with Human Hair, Strawberry Swisher Pt.3, Demo Team and Carve. Man do I love these guys, everything they put out is super solid and I can't wait until October 8th
I refused to listen to DGD since Jonny's final departure, and when I finally decided to listen to them had a apprehensive feeling, but god damn, Tilian is great. The bad is great with a different clean vocalist. It's just when I hear DGD, Jonny's voice just fits it. Still a great band, might go out and buy this Album.
this is mindblowingly good. best DGD song ever in my books - I thought I'd be hard to beat anything on selftitled but daaaaamn. I cant stop listening to this :o
I came here 5 years later to hear that fucking guitar solo again. I love this song so damn much. Both installments in the totl series in their albums. I'm waiting for part 3. That and a possible surprise I'm from Cuba pt 2
4:00-5:30 just might be the greatest 90 seconds of music I've ever heard. The first 60 seconds gives me the chills, and the last 30 melts my face off with Will Swan's ability to shred like none other.
Dude listen to Nasa by Dance Gavin Dance, the ending is insane!
First off I love the song. Secondly I absolutely love the section you mentioned absolutely. I also thought he must have been inspired by or had listened to Robert Fripp's playing see Brian Eno's song/ St. Elmo's Fire
Best part of the song!!!!
LITERALLY ECSTACY IN MY FUCKING EARS
😊😊😊
Does anyone else feel this is the best song on the album?
you guys should have a 3 way
voncinnamon1 count me in:)
hands down the best song!
This or Demo Team
the great and mighty cheese wheel chirp stealer...
Tilian is such a gifted singer! This guy sings like an angel! His emotional vocals on the proggy background are breathtaking.
"Overcome by circumstance
Separated by consequence I fell lower than before
Lower than I have before If I could just get through to you
We could put in the final screws. To the barricade the door
And start back where we were"
they really make great music and great lyrics

yes dude like its all fucking perfect and you can tell the musical genius is still in the band whoever it is.
even today they still are putting out solid work. parody catharsis is is a good one.
@@ikeepgettinbanned5525 it's will swan dawg
Cause the heart of it is Swan he a genius

DBM is the best album by them.
couldn't of said it any better
I agree Camille. Good to see someone who sees the greater qualities of all three vocalists and their roles [whether former or current] in the band without actually dissing them.
great is a strong word...
i tear up just a little bit when I think of how great this band is. oh and tillian's voice.
same.
Tilian's vocals are incredible with some of the melodies he's making on this.
hearing swan shred at the end is one of the highlights of this song so amazing
4:00 to 5:30 might be the best 90 seconds of music ever.
That section hits me in the feelings like a fucking truck, I love it.
Hits me hard like a freight train
Yep...
Totally agree!
It feels like you're floating in space
Ugh the intro guitar is the best i've heard in so long.
I honestly Love that there have been 3 different Vocalists. I have a different album and sound to pull from based off my mood and no matter what its great because DGD is so fucking rad
Jesus that guitar at the end is absolutely amazing and i love the new singer's voice. Its unique and sounds really good.
4:01 onward is the greatest songwriting I've ever been aware of. Absolutely beautiful
In my view, this is the best album that has brought dgd, do not say that other albums are bad, but this record will never get bored I accept it, this album is awesome
Haha you accept it, acceptance.
Mental control
Can we have your acceptance speech?
It still blows my mind how well they ended this album. I mean, this track could have been their last and that would have been perfect.
Dante LAN-I-ER Part of me wishes it was their last song
John Doe instant gratification was dogshit. There's literally two good songs. But mothership was flawless.
Release date: 14 April 2015, yes it is
Miles Uchiha You're thinking of Unnatural Selection.
Miles Uchiha Welp, I'm no better. It's actually called Artificial Selection.
holy shit. this band has come a long way, and, in my mind, has only gotten better. through all of the line up changes and drama, i feel that it has made them a more well rounded band. tillian fits in so well and really compliments jon and the rest of the band. i still love jonny and kurt all the same and they were nothing short of amazing. i will continue to love and support this band for as long as i can. DGD for life!
Will Swan’s solo at the end is the greatest thing to ever grace my ears
This visual could almost be a valentine's card..
"Turn off the lights I'm watching back to the future"
From: Dance Gavin Dance
To: ...
Going through a breakup and I always listen to DGD my favorite band, this song described us and my feelings perfectly, DGD is a godsend
Oh how I do feel you in that
When 4:00-5:30 hits and you start literally tearing up cause how beautiful it is
The 'easier said than done' and 'can't be the only one'back and forth is good. So. Good.
Tilian is great. I'm glad he's finally getting recognition! Dance Gavin Dance always seems to amaze me, all of their songs are unique and make you feel something. This is no doubt their best song to date.
Words cannot describe how fluffing good this song is.
nice pupper
Nice Puppy.....
Fucking furry
Everyone is hating. I started listening to DGD in 06, and loved the Craig/Mess lineup. I heard this album the other day and I feel this is their finest product as a band.
This isn't Jonny Craig. Why are you posting on google plus.
I wasn't saying this was him i was just stating I liked the craig/Mess lineup. Could have worded it better.
+Joshua Perna Fight him
+Bryan Dittemer I'll back you up, son! Kick that dudes ass :D
+MrDeadlySmile lol wtf xD
Tilian is great, I feel like real DGD fans are always going to love DGD not by the singer but the content they provide, which is an exposure to raw and real feelings through all instruments and aspects.
Fuckin shit, Will. You're a guitar god and this solidifies it. Layers and layers of that sexy modern Hendrix style I crave to emulate from my fingertips
SAME ASF I WANT TO BE WILL
Windows HP everyone wants to be Will
Dance Gavin Dance doesn’t do guitar solos often but when they do, they do them right
Out of all DGD songs, this will always be the one I come back to. The headliner of every GDG playlist I make.
Gavin Dance Gavin
Gance Davin Gance
If I could just get through to you
We could put in the final screws
To barricade the door
And start back where we were
Gives me chills every time
That last verse Tilian sings always gets me so fucked up! I feel him,
StoneyScenery I know i'm straight wasted rn
@stoneyscenery fuckin same
@joseph fuckin same
Tillian and Mess, the vocal double helix. One of the best songs by DGD... In my opinion.
As I progress through this album, each song just keeps getting better and better. I LOVE Tillian with Dance Gavin Dance!!!
"shimmy my way down underground"
bringing it back to Skyhook, love it
I never noticed this until you pointed it out! Thanks!
I noticed that to lol
+Daniel Mata This song is very similar to Skyhook now that you mention that
still can't believe how good this song and band is.
He's actually really good live. I once saw him with tides of man and his pitch was really on. It's cray
i will dance....... i will
Omfg
Yes
Dance, Gavin. Dance!! XD
A new challenger approaches!!!!!! Me boi
We have to, at this point.
Someone could be born, explore, cry, whisper, scream, marry, and pass away to DGD songs; Their music simply can't be ignored. Their music is like the lover and friend you've never had.
...This band is so harmonically talented. Jesus Christ...
5:00 That whole guitar shredding and sound reminds me of an 80s film. Like Beverly hill cops when they show a transition clip of the city.
I will never get tired of Dance Gavin Dance. No matter what.
I was totally jamming to this song while doing math homework, then the song slowed down at 4:02 and I found myself crying hysterically.
That is how you know a song affects you emotionally.
Music is such a powerful thing.
Well I love this line up. This band doesn't do wrong. It's fine. Everybody calm down. These guys kick ass
Swear dgd was the very 1st band I heard and still to this day I love the music they make and find it close to perfection
Vixenx May same lol when I was like in 6th or 7th grade
I personally feel that DGD has gotten better.
Desiree Johnson technically yes. doesn't have the same feel thought. non the less can't stop listening.........
Jon mess has improved his rhythm and the instrumentals sound better. So I agree. Also Tillan is a beast.
Jon mess and quality of instruments has definitely improved I agree with Erik but the vocals of the old vocalists were just as great and didn’t get enough potential with quality sound until they went solo
They can only get better with each release. I'm sure the next album my ears will cry with joy.
They so did.
This song is fantastic. This song really shows everyone's talent. And great guitar solo Will!!!!
As a die hard DGD fan from the get go.
I have a few found appreciation for tillian. Every vocalist had their own spin on this band. But tillian really just... Fuckin ices my cake, herm I mean the cake. ☺️👌
I have songs by each lead that I love but man tillian takes the lead.
One of the most legendary, godly intros of all time. Will Swan is proof that you don't have to play like Tosin Abasi to be a great. I wish DGD would break down their creative process so I could truly see just how much he puts into each song.
Rin i dont know if youre still here but you probably wont see this but thank you so much for showing me this im sorry and i love you.
God job DGD! Congrats on a really good album, this song in particular is my favorite song of the year!
I can honestly say I love every single one of DGDs songs
this whole album is amazing and this song is such a perfect closer for it, revisiting for the ten year anniversary of its release and it still feels ahead of its time, tilian did an amazing job on this as his debut with the band. I still remember playing it for the first time and being blown away when he comes in on jesus H macy. At :49 where his voice begins soaring over top of Jons screaming here is incredible, hes like an angel.
some element of Jazz music in it, in terms of guitar work!
Here's to hoping and wishing there's a pt. 3 on the new album!
dgd saved my life more than once
i love how much DGD have evolved over the years. Every album they bring out is so fresh and new. I do prefer Jonny's voice, but the new singer seems to suit their current sound very well. Loving this album.
Will forever be my all time favorite guitar solo.
5:00.... Holy fuuuuuuuuuuuck. 6 years later and this still gives me goose bumps.
Anabelle Lektor 6 years holy fuck.. i remember buying this album when it came out and hearing this song 😭😭
Man, I love Jonny Craig and I'm a little bummed he's gone, but damn DGD still got it.
Still in love with every second of this song.. definitely does not feel like 4 years ago !
Looooove the guitar in this song
Tilian is so consistent. Just so consistent.
Y'all remind me of Coheed and Cambria and I am LOVING the parallels 💙
Wow 11 years and I’m still coming back for more
So always I notice in bands that have had many vocalist changes such as this band I see that people hate on Tillians unique voice, and well how this album is supposedly bad compared to their older albums well I like all their albums with all 3 vocalist. I logged in just to upvote this, you my friend have won the internet today.

I'm excited to see how dgd progresses, and hopefully jonny doesn't become an axl rose
are you high? Jonny and Kurt are easy to tell the difference between. You silly elder goose.
nolskeeet I get what he's saying. Tilian's vocals are drastically different to any vocalist DGD ever had prior to his arrival. Jonny and Kurt are both pretty distinctively different vocalists, but they had a similar style as far as DGD's sound was concerned.

kurt sounds nothing like johnny?
MrCaseHarts Did you even read the entire comment? Come on man, keep up.
You seriously can't even attempt to draw comparisons between Jonny and Kurt without some mouth breather interjecting with 'but they sound nothing alike!!!!1!1!1!'
Tilian did incredible on this album! And Jonny did incredible on his new solo album. They both made new accomplishments.
GRACIAS POR EXISTIR DANCE GAVIN DANCE......... SUEÑO CON ESTA CANCIÓN 💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃📠📠🔋🔌🎥📀💓💝💻💽💾💗💗💘💞💋🍸🍍🐎🐎
oh my gawd. i love the whole album. Cant pick my fav. song! Filipino fan here. DGD
THIS SONG IS TOO DAMN GOOD! AAHHHHH!
AGREED
Probably my favorite song off the new album. The guitar solo at the end is just orgasmic.
I just cant get enough of the line "Paging Dr.Mess your patients throwing food and ate his robe" i just fucking love it
I would sacrifice my first born to see Thomas Erak join DGD and shred with Will.
haha
This song has the best ending 😌
Not sure if this song is part 2, or they are watching part 2 of Back To The Future.....
MIND BLOWN!
both
It is both; there's a part 1 on Downtown Battle Mountain (even though "part 1" was not part of the title)
this seems like it should be a Philip j. fry meme lol
Vincent R Gilmore LOVE both xD
Finally a part 2 jeez :)
The lead singers voice reminds me of Anthony Green from Circa Survive.
Wow finally someone who knows Anthony green. Your the man
Listen to Donovan Melero from Hail the Sun. He is almost identical to Anthony Green
I’m an African American male raised in urban or inner city. This kinda music easily undoubtedly viewed as demonic or white boy shit. But then I discovered JC and those soulful vocals drew me in. I'm Jamaican blackman and I love this shit. From deathstar to afterburner
This is will swans band...he's a black man.
Happy I'm finally getting into DGD
Awe I love how Jon Mess sings!!
Top 5 favorite DGD song of mine.
I can't hate DGD. No matter what, they'll sound so wonderful in any way.
My favorite song out of the album btw.
I get so hype when listening to this song
This track is Definitely my favorite on this album, followed by Death of the Robot with Human Hair, Strawberry Swisher Pt.3, Demo Team and Carve. Man do I love these guys, everything they put out is super solid and I can't wait until October 8th
Holy shit, that title brings back some 3 AM memories...
Yes!! I'll forever love this band. Jonny, Kurt, and Tillian are all great. ❤️
1:09 - 1:36 was pretty smooth, unf
! yep, I love that part too ^_^
🎵And we'll tear apart those sheeeeeets,
And forget the world
A little while
Get to know your form again🎵
Dgd has really evolved.... the whole new album is fucking amazing. I got goosebumps for each one I heard for the first time.
With songs like this, how do they not have all the Grammys???
I refused to listen to DGD since Jonny's final departure, and when I finally decided to listen to them had a apprehensive feeling, but god damn, Tilian is great. The bad is great with a different clean vocalist. It's just when I hear DGD, Jonny's voice just fits it. Still a great band, might go out and buy this Album.
es una gran canción no hay duda que tilian es sensacional pero no puede comparase con jonny craig y la primera parte de esta canción
this is mindblowingly good. best DGD song ever in my books - I thought I'd be hard to beat anything on selftitled but daaaaamn. I cant stop listening to this :o
Can anyone tell me what Tilian says from 2:02-2:12???
I came here 5 years later to hear that fucking guitar solo again. I love this song so damn much. Both installments in the totl series in their albums. I'm waiting for part 3. That and a possible surprise I'm from Cuba pt 2
the drums from 4:31-5:00 are the same as from the end of suprise im from cuba in dtbm2
connection??
*ahem* I gotta go fanboy on you. "Surprise! I'm From Cuba, Everyone Has One Brain" is on the original Downtown Battle Mountain.
+Aryonsen o shit ur right lol
"fanboy" lol
This has to be my new favorite DGD song ever.
six minutes of eargasm
This song is by far my favorite song on the album
