So glad they are okay. My grandparents have a similar story back in my home country. My town never had a history of flooding. It had been raining in the mountain area that time and the water slowly rose where our house was at midnight. My grandpa was awake and tried to keep water out our house. About 15 minutes later, somehow my grandpa decided to go to the rooftop “just in case”. The water was waist deep then. We didn’t have a ladder so him and my grandma climbed through the fence. My grandpa made it to the roof when the flash flood happened. He was just in time on grabbing my grandma’s hand while the rushing water was about to take her away. Idk where my grandpa found his strength but he did! He was able to save my grandma. That flood took thousands of people in my city and most are from our neighborhood. A lot of the people I know died that day. It was the worst. We didn’t even know if my grandparents survive till 2 days later. My aunt had to walk at least 10 miles to get to our house as the road was not accessible.
