    Hope you find this video helpful! I did actually film a section where I glued the magnets into one of the weapons, but my 7yo son decided that was a great time to burst in and ask how to spell something - maybe we’ll save that clip for a future blooper video 😂

    GW have done a great job with making these kits magnet friendly, but god only knows why the Close Combat arms were not pre-drilled when everything else is! :D

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I could have done without having to drill those holes 🙂 It also makes me wonder why the released that kit first, even though the ranged one was revealed first on Warhammer Community.

      @@hobbywaffle My guess is it was purely a production issue. It could have been something as simple as a spelling error on the box for the ranged version that meant that this varient needed to have all the boxed reprinted, and so they shuffled the deck and released the close combat one first? Pure speculation, obviously, but certainly a possibility that is was something as simple as that? Not that, I doubt, we'll ever find out. :)

    Do you plan to do a tutorial for the Deredeo Dreadnought at some point? I would love to see that

    This was super helpful! only thing I would say is if you build the ranged dreadnought kit, the melee weapons don't line up well in the ranged elbow joints if you got the elbow pads attached to the melee weapons.

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - and good point ref the ranged elbow joints! 👍

    • @RG9T8
      @RG9T8 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hobbywaffle yea I learnt the hard way. I had 6mm magnets that fitted in the ranged elbow joints and not the melee ones so I was lazy and used them instead although it's not the end of world but it still annoys me when the melee arms are not centred in the joints. Thankfully I have another kit to build so I can learn from the mistakes.

      You probably can magnetise it, but I thought the Leviathan looked really odd without it, so I just glued it in place.

    A question if you still message these old videos, would 6x2 work for the elbow parts I could find any for 6x1

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me have a look at my dreadnought and measure it for you. I’ll come back to you on this 🙂

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 6.2 would work but there’s a tiny raised ring inside the elbow part which would need to be filed down, it’s designed so a 6x1 sits either side of it. Have you tried Amazon for 6x1 magnets?

    Recently found your videos and appreciate your thoroughness, do you know how usable these weapons would be with the Forge World Leviathans and Contemptors? Thinking about getting a Chapter specific one but it would be nice to use the plastic arms/weapons from these kits instead of needing to purchase the pricey resin ones.

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should work, but you would probably have to magnetise them at the higher part rather than in the middle of the elbow like I did. The resin dreadnoughts don’t have the elbow section so you would have to use those from the plastic kit, and you only get two on the weapon frame, which is something to bear in mind 👍

    I didnt magnetize mine because it seemed impossible or at least super difficult to have the claw/drill magnetized. So i just glued mine with one of each. Now it seems like the ranged version is way easier to magnetize lol. Guess its a good excuse to buy a second. Still kicking myself now though

    Do you have a link to Amazon for the magnets you used? As I’m planning to use your guide to magnetise my ranged weapon dread (first time magnetising something)

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, I’ve put Amazon (uk) links to the magnets in the video description, they should still work but if not let me know and I’ll look for some other ones for you. Good luck with the magnetising, if you need any help let me know! 👍

  • @RickJagger13
    @RickJagger13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    in the close combat video you mentioned not doing it at the elbow because of a piece missing in the ranged version. was that the case or are you okay magnetizing at the elbow?

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What I meant was that I would advise against magnetising above/on top of the elbow piece (the bit with the gap) as you only get two of those in total, whereas the ranged kit has 3 weapons. On the resin version a lot of people magnetise between that bit and the upper shoulder (E2). You could still add magnets there, I just didn’t want people to glue the weapons in expecting to have 3 of the elbow section, which is part E3 on the sprue (two of those together form the ‘elbow’) - hope that makes sense?

    • @hobbywaffle
      @hobbywaffle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RickJagger13 It’s not too bad as long as you mark your magnets so you know which way round they are. Having holes in the ranged weapons already makes it much easier - if you do magnetise it let me know how you get on 👍

      @@hobbywaffle is it better to magnetize the joint before gluing it together? those two pieces look like they’d be hard to get a magnet in since they’d want to stick together
