Someone has done a mock up already of the EC converted for Heresy using some FW Emperor’s Children bits, but I can’t find it now.

Yeah he is one very good looking mini, I’m looking forward to seeing what their release will look like

I’m the same with EC, they look fab but I have no desire to stress myself out painting that army. The Skeletons are amazing, that might finally be the Spearhead that pushes me over the line into AoS 4th. I like painting skeletons

Scarloc and a scout/ambush themed army is a great shout, would love to see that! Wonder if we will see Durthu again? I’m speculating as my Wood Elves knowledge is not great, but I’ll ask Ben during tomorrow nights Morehammer podcast (which will be live on Tuesday) and he will no doubt have lots to say on it.

@hobbywaffle it's all pure speculation on my end, I may be reading too much into it, have subscribed to morehammer to see what you guys think, I've had a little back and forth with 90percentgeek already as well to see his thoughts on this, I could be barking up the wrong tree lol but definitely something I'd like to see, the 3 wood elf icons on the map also make me think its likely but I could be finding things to support my idea that aren't actually there same as that bit of lore with the new model, but it's fun to guess and then see what actually comes

@hobbywaffle I agree with you there, I'm going to guess forest spirit army of infamy because we have no photos of dryads or branchwraiths in any of the books and scarloc scout army based on the little bit of lore and the 3 icons on the map, looking forward to hearing other thoughts and ideas on what we may get

You could try having a wet brush on the side and use it to wick away any excess paint? Hopefully it’s not GW pot inconsistency

@ I might just get another pot just to try it out…I had better (still not close to yours) by adding way more contrast medium to the mix (more like a 3-4 to 1) as the 2:1 is absolutely way way too dark. Thanks for your reply, absolutely appreciate it!

@ Quick question, how much did you shake that Basilicanum pot? The amount of pigments in mine seems so much more concentrated than yours when you apply it.

@@FrancisOuellet1978 I’m sure I gave it a good shake - I cut the video every time I was shaking the paint, which is why I moved it out of shot as it can take a good minute

Yes it’s slightly annoying that I order to use chainswords, we have to kit bash. The scorpion kit makes it a little easier though

It can be expensive if you don’t have the paint, and I guess it all depends on how much you like citadel paints. In all honesty, since making this video I’ve switched to Two Thin Coats paints for main colours and metallics, although I do still use citadel contrast and washes, both of which are great.

Agreed. I think with everyone’s excitement over the Warp Spiders and the new phoenix lords, the Swooping Hawks have had a bit less attention, I think they look absolutely brilliant.

It’s awesome and will make a great 40K rune priest too

@@davidbrayne8278 Absolutely. The Krieg stuff is awesome, although the paint job on them looks a bit off, maybe they are a bit too clean and glossy in places I’m not sure. The new Gitz stuff is incredible, especially the insane new Doom Diver. Heresy stuff looked decent too, I like the Deredeo’s more than i thought i would

@hobbywaffle I will definitely be using the Gitz stuff for the Old World. Oddly enough as a Heresy fan this was the only slight disappointment. Great models but I don't play Solar Auxillia and I already have a Deredeo for my Sons Of Horus. I was hoping for more Mechanicum plastic. Still, you can't have everything. Looking forward to seeing the three of you discuss it all.

Indeed that’s a good point ref EC, as Pink seems to be the main colour in the 40K art and ok previous minis, interesting!

@@hobbywaffle​​⁠​​⁠It looks almost like an extremely reduced version, he has what you say but he’s got a simple chest soulstone instead of the more emboldened one and he has no banner. The codex and the box will reveal the truth in time 😅

@ Yeah, going off the video, I wonder if that one is built up using bits for the Exarch, and they just used a second sprue to make that and a bigger squad for the video.

Yeah finding good movement trays can be a pain! The GW ones are nice but way too expensive

Hope they make them available soon for the US. Worst case scenario I know a couple of UK retailers that ship to the USA

Fair enough, and that’s a good point ref mixing normal colours with metallics. I can honestly say I’ve never tried that, and I’ve been painting minis since 1994. I have mixed inks with metallics though, with varying degrees of success and disaster! 🙂

If you mean the Metal Alchemy stuff, yes they are decent but these hues are a little more colourful. Scale 75 stuff is great though.

@ decent? Lol. Scale75 as a pain range is way above and beyond anything else in hobby paints. Their Artists Range is the ultimate Hobby Paints. I don’t know how much Duncan paid you for this AD, but they are not a game changer, they are mid.

@ Lol I wish I did get paid or get free paints! It’s horses for courses, I just find the TTC stuff great to use, I’m glad you like Scale 75, and I’m not disputing their quality, they are ace, just that I think TTC are a great paint range .

@ they are barely better than Citadel paints which are trash. I would expect better knowledge of paints from someone who wants to make it on youtube. TTC are overpriced, underpigmented paints that are only carried by the name of the paint range owner. EoT

@@znachwd2015 Scale75 have long since stopped being the "best" paint range, if they ever were. Vallejo has always been universally both more friendly and functional to work with. Now, we have ranges like Pro Acryl, AK 3rd Gen, Warpaints Fanatic, TTC, the list goes on. The matte consistency is the best thing they have going for them, but the gel medium is awful and most colors have poor coverage. Not to mention S75 is imploding as a company, there is a reason their kickstarters are going unfulfilled and their paint range is vanishing from stores. Their metallics are the best product they have, but as long as VMC and Inks exist, why settle for second (realistically 3rd) best.

Yeah that’s a good shout for Blue Steel, now we just need some new Grey Knights haha. The metallics from Wave 1 are really good btw

Oh, my Kickstarter arrived already. I just haven’t had a project to use them on yet. Also, the dice tray has a tendency to bounce dice out of it, so careful rolling.

It’s some white metal/pewter wargaming power cables that I got off Dragon Forge. It was ages ago so not sure if he still sells them but they had different sizes and they are easy to work with
