My Uncle/Godfather.. loved the Bee Gee's b4 the disco era.. all was a bit b4 my time.. but my Uncle who is now 75 can sing this song so beautifully.. I hope I have many more years of listening to him sing this song at his parties.. He's a true hippie and still has parties all time lol

Absolute chills! Who else can reproduce their sound live as well as the Bee Gees. All those years as youngsters honing their style. Forever a fan.

The concert was in the 80s but the song is from the sixties - I love their first decade!

This concert is more than twenty years later from the time they recorded it and had a hit with it. The sound is so much fuller, crisper, and clearer in 1989 than it was in 1967. But its also worth listening to the original, to hear how they sounded in their late teens, early twenties.

Their 1st #1. Robin came to Barry with the opening lyrics/melody he'd written and he said knew it was going to be incredible

I have been a Bee Gees fan since they lived here in Australia back in the 60s. Robin had one of the finest voices in music of his or any other generation. RIP lovely man

Hi. Just curious if you are confusing Robin with Andy. Andy was never an member of the Bee Gees although he was going to join Barry, Maurice and Robin when he died. This is Robin who is singing lead. Andy was nine years younger than the twins and twelve years younger than Barry.

Robin's voice was so different than Barry's.. but great. And you can't mess with true talent.. they had it.. Elvis had it. Whitney, the Jackson's, Michael on his own.. the list can go on and on.. when you hear great talent.. you know it.. But for sure.. never mess with sibling harmony.. the Osmond's.. I mean come on.. yes very Vanilla.. but great harmonies..

@@Kings-003 the reason Andy had a solo career is that he was born the year the Bee Gees were established. 1958. Barry was born in 46 and the twins were born in 49. When they were 5 and 8 their mom went to their room to have them turn down the radio only to find it was her son's singing in perfect three part harmony. The boys started performing when they were 6 and 9. Andy needed to make his own way instead of just joining in when he was old enough. He and his parents traveled everywhere with the brothers. Andy's first three releases hit number one. His first release was
I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. There is a great video of him singing it on the Midnight Special. In January of 88 the brothers announced that Andy would be joining them as a permanent member but sadly he passed away on March 10th just 5 days after his 30th birthday. When Andy moved to the west coast to host Solid Gold and he was in high demand everywhere he started doing cocaine. It took a toll on his heart and when he got Myocarditis his heart was to damage to fight it off. He had been in treatment numerous times and the substance abuse was what caused the break up between him and the actress Victoria Principle. The love of his life. (The song, For Whom The Bell Tolls) He did manage to get clean and stay that way for a year but the damage was done. Really broke our hearts. There is a great video of Andy singing Barry's song "Words" at Reagan's Inauguration Dinner. It's his girlfriend Victoria that introduces him. If you listen to Barry sing it and then see the video the similarity is crazy. Andy has started to grow a beard and looks so much like Barry and sounds so similar to him. They were very close even though 12 years apart. They were actually closer than the actual twins Robin and Maurice. Barry and Andy even had identical birthmarks. Another thing I found mind blowing is they wrote and created songs in the 1000's (according to an interview with Barry it was close to 3,000) yet none of them could read music. There is also a video called the making of the song Tragedy. They explain some of the process they go through when creating the melody and lyrics. It's really amazing. Enjoy. I have over 150 favorite Bee Gees songs and there isn't another group anyone can say that about. Truly gifted and wrote such timeless music. You also might want to react to the Bee Gees, One Night Only Concert with them singing (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away. Half way through the song the brothers stop singing and incorporate one of Andy's live performances into it. It's sad but really beautiful.
