No. He caused the crash. Watch the front wheels. He did the same thingy everyone does on wet pavement that ends up in a ditch.... he oversteered multiple times. Watch the front wheels.
Had you known it never had to be one at all wouldn't that suck .. Drivers get spooked they immediately overreact with the wheel which exacerbates the problem to what you see .. Period ...really simple .. the guys who don't never hit anything .. the car settles down they drive back on the return road the guys who wreck have long story's forgetting of course we have the slow mo video footage showing the wheel being over corrected 3 sometimes 5 times...
I've talked to some of the faster cars on the No Prep Kings races and they are hitting 180mph in the 1/8th mile. I would call that pretty fast on a no prep track.
Yeah, most everybody would say pulling the chute would be the right thing to do. But with that being said it can sometimes be a big mistake also, because if you are not straight or the chute pulls you to one side or another when it deploys it will put you straight into the wall. But when working properly it should straighten out a car right away after being deployed. Good question!
Yeah that's the risk you take from shooing in the stands like I do. It's funny because that is actually what I really said in my head when I saw him stand up right in my view. ha ha.
Yep, that's why you take it to the track instead of doing it on the street. At least then you have emergency crews and an inspection to check your ride out. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
The Camaro with the blue blower at 12:30 mark is best save. Watch the front wheels. He knows what his car is going to do and doesn't overreact. Very subtle steering. Classy save ! Also fun to guess which car and the "cookie monster blue 😆" mustang was an easy call. Thought it would be immediately out of the hole the way they were revving up. Wasn't too far off 😂😂😂
I'm going to try my best. There is a No Prep Kings race in Norwalk, Ohio on Friday and Saturday and I'm going to try and leave Sat night to make it to Byron and get ready for the contest on Sunday. Hopefully that all works out good.
As much as I love these crazy mishaps, I see this compilation was much more mild and no injuriers. Seems many of the cars could be salvaged and live to see another day.
Pull the damn chute !! Once you start tail wagging you pull the chute. !! Never understood No-Prep... let's wreck our 3000 hp $250k cars because...street racing
A lot of these vehicles are beyond repair though. When the quarters are bashed in and the frame is bent, you’re better off salvaging what parts you can and putting them on a different build.
A lot of these cars are not (or at least no longer) monocoque vehicles, so the body panels play no part in the strength of the chassis. So long as your central frame is not damaged too much, all you need is a few fiberglass panels and you're car's looking pretty once again. Great example is the first car - the engine bay is just a box on the front to give the car its shape
@@thegatesofsleep These arnt street cars bashed in panels doesn't mean they can't fix it easily. If not they will put a new panel or even body on the chassis. That's when something is not worth it is when structural components are tweeked bad.
working2Bselfsufficient a lot of them are tube chassis front end with fibreglass except the quarters. Some of them are a entire fibreglass shell in which case, sure repair it. If I was dragging a car with tube front end and smoked my steel quarters at 120mph I’d consider finding a new car to throw the remaining parts on. Doesn’t take much to damage the chassis and if you’re ripping the entire car apart anyway, may as well drop everything on a virgin frame.
Why do I have this funny feeling that I'm going to see the first crash in this video when Street Outlaws No Prep Kings (season 2) airs their Bandimere Speedway episode. The announcer sounds very familiar.....
Okay, I have to be right, because that's Eric Bain getting wrecked into in the second crash, and he's on No Prep Kings. (I'm making assumptions, not spoiling it for anyone.)
That dude with the Red Chevelle wrecked his own car because like so many other's they get to sawing back & forth on that rack & pinion wheel and do all there own damage ... Until they force themselves out of shear shame to STOP doing it.. Prime example of how NOT to wreck your costly race car is watching the knowledgeable driver in the Mustang totally avoid the urge to start swing the wheel back & forth and drives away to get ready for another round of racing ... So many guys just cannot overcome that urge to over correct ..
It is not easy to do in drag cars but for sure when you have the wheels cranked and the rear catches the car will then go right where the tires are pointed. Watch these guys coming onto roadways and spinning their tires do it so often. Thanks for having some ideas instead of the ones that can only criticize.
Hi Bob, thanks for the update on that. I just tried on my phone and it went to every site I have listed. Is anyone else having this problem? Or can you try it on a computer Bob? Thanks once again. TomEighty
First rule of losing control and getting sideways is turn into the direction of your spin. Trying to over correct in the opposite direction spells disaster... That is if something up front hadn't already broke, in that case let go of the wheel and let physics run its course....
So many cars get out of shape and hit the wall, such a shame. They need to equip them with an accelerometer that blows an explosive charge to pop the chute out. Most would benefit from that by straightening out due to drag, and slow down quick
What I learned from this is that the folks who come to watch cheer MORE for the drivers who AVOID complete destruction rather than the one who wins the race. Just sayin.
Blue Mustang at 13:20, must be kidding me. Already won due to opponent red light, has his own trouble and lifts, then wants to be a hero and hit it again, probably out of the grove, and puts it into the wall. Expensive lesson.
Would not be able to stand like that at the starting line at New England Dragway. That's not a very safe place to stand if something goes bad on a car during launch.
Thanks Patrick. I actually get the media pass once and awhile but it seems like a lot of work. ha ha. I enjoy sitting in the stands with the fans and relaxing. And walking around in the pits before the races start. Dream job for me!
1/8 mile is not a drag race. Only reason people like it is that there are so many crashes, caused by the super low gears they have to run on that short of track. 1/8 mile is nothing but a straight line demo derby. 1/4 mile is the only real drag racing.
The first guy did good trying to control the car!
He forgot to pull the parechut maybe it will save it
yeah he did!!!
No. He caused the crash. Watch the front wheels. He did the same thingy everyone does on wet pavement that ends up in a ditch.... he oversteered multiple times. Watch the front wheels.
not in the slightest ... more like made it worse
Yeah he was doing good at first and could have straightened it after the 4th whip but over corrected instead of letting the wheel correct itself
5:35 a victory better than winning is preventing what could be a horrible accident 👏🏽
Had you known it never had to be one at all wouldn't that suck .. Drivers get spooked they immediately overreact with the wheel which exacerbates the problem to what you see .. That second run; the guy should've lifted at 100 feet out. He was already losing traction. Ya just gotta lift and give up sometimes.
@3:39 when you feel like rebuilding your car instead of repacking the chute
"No prep is cool"
Let's build a really fast car then struggle to go half speed down the track
I've talked to some of the faster cars on the No Prep Kings races and they are hitting 180mph in the 1/8th mile. I would call that pretty fast on a no prep track.

Yeah, most everybody would say pulling the chute would be the right thing to do. You took the words right out of my mouth I literally said good job he kept control then 90 degree turn oh shit
Looks like that quarter panel was replaced recently also. Maybe he has ongoing issues with it.
Thank you so much for these beautiful videos, at least even in Italy you can see. Good job
I love how the crowd cheered when the driver managed to save himself from crashing
yup!
@mrs abe i think someone deleted their reply 😂😂😂 that is super weird
Expensive car race failures. That's what I would name this video.

It wasn't that exciting, besides the crash before took out three signs on the wall much better!

I've never been to drag racing but the crowd seem to appreciate a car being saved as they do a win.
the car being safe means the driver is safe

The last announcer sounded like the guy who did the Harry Carrie skirt on SNL. 😂😂
The silver Chevy II came into boost and grabbed 2nd gear just in time- before that 68 Plymouth came at him and flipped.
Yeah for sure, that Chevy II boggied out of there just in time!
