@@ToasterBath247 Yeah my home track is Wisconsin International Raceway (WIR) which is in Kaukauna and the other track is Great Lakes Dragaway which is South of Milwaukee and close to Kenosha. Thanks for watching my fellow Wisconsin friend.
This has got to be one of the most diverse and unique collection of vehicles seen at the same track even if this is multiple multiple days and I’m all for these rad rides!!!
We have some interesting ones at the drag strip i go to. There are a few Fairmont Wagons, Ford Escort, and a Gremlin. I loved that old 77 F100. My dad races a 79 F150 and it runs 12s. People are shocked when it runs because it is all original in terms of body and no fiberglass and it still has the steal bumpers. Just a big 460, some street slicks, and ladder bars ad stuff like that. It is fun to ride around town in it
I mean you have stuff like farmtruck, an original steel 70’s chevy with a fiberglass camper shell that’ll run sun 8 in the 1/4. It looks like something you’d see parked in the back of a barn on an old farm but it’s faster in the 1/4 than most of the vehicles in this video. Never underestimate an old pickup with a bigblock.
I sure as hell wouldn't laugh. I think pintos are a badass platform for a drag car. I helped a young man from Detroit out at Onondaga Dragway where I work and race get his pinto figured out and flying. Turns out he had a setup similar to what I have in my 65 Comet. 289/C4 no brake. Pretty cool seeing the old Divco turned into a dragster. My dad had a few of those. He was a milkman. I was a milkman too but my truck was a 5 ton '58 Ford. The mail truck was pretty cool too, I always wanted one of those to turn into a camper van.
Not a race, but one day about 20-25 years ago, I came up on a 60's Dodge panel van at the highway service drive light. Tubbed rear with huge drag tires, loud rumpeting engine. I gave a thumbs up and he nodded back. Light changed and he took off, exhaust blasting, WAAAAAA... No wheelie, no spinning of wheels. The sound of the engine disappeared as quick as the van down the street, it was really hauling tail. I wouldn't know the drag times or speed it would be capable of, but it was really moving away and getting smaller at a very rapid rate. Haven't seen it before that or since.
Great video! I personally like seeing the weird and unusual drag cars. It keeps it real and lively. Not everyone has a unlimited amount of money to throw at one ,but they don't let that stop them.
