I really wish Announcer's would STOP saying they "Tried" to save it when the exact opposite is FACT Guy's can't stop the knee jerk need to OVER correct which is the only reason you see guys sawing back & forth on the wheel swinging the car back and forth back & forth until it catches up and the wall is what they save ..Rack & pinion is great but NOT when guy's get caught up in the over correction habit ...you take a real good look then talk honestly with guys who have done it more than once then ask em when they are alone .. Hey do you think you might have over corrected and the honest one's will tell you yes .Because they know it's been captured on someone's I phone .. Hey it's all part of the expense in the learning curve ...The guys who don't over correct are the guys you see drive out of it ....

It's amazing how many have all that power, and no wheelie bars.
Necromancing a year old post, so I do apologize, but some categories don't let you run wheelie bars. I didn't realize this was a thing until, ironically, about a year ago when I saw on YT Cleetus and Co. struggling with wheelies and I kept thinking, "Why not put a wheelie bar on it?!" Eventually, in one of the videos they said they weren't allowed to run bars in 'street' classes.

@@Ali-py2mx becuase he was quick on his feet and kept the car from hitting the other driver. And kept it from hitting the wall. Did a full 90 degree turn within less than a second without barely moving in a drag car. Thats very hard to do in a drag car. They aren't meant to turn at any sort of speed. Most professional race car drivers can't even pull that off.
Well he seems like a good driver but the question was was it his fault or the cars that put him in that situation

Most of the time these happens because of the car not the driver. You have to give credit to the drivers who prevent wall or other racer hits. That recovery is really good.

The first one James S. Was crazy but he probably learned how to keep car off wall from his wife as she is pretty serious racer too and has also managed a few unbelievable saves.

I love drag racing but just understand the whole "No prep" concept let's make a car with ad much horsepower as possible and put it on a track with as least amount of grip as we can makes no sense to me!
In the second clip is it just me but do you find it Weird how the SS fucked up his Launch and then out of no where fly’s past the other car like it was nothing and then Crushes.

I have been watching these all afternoon. And is just me, or do the newer Mustangs seem to have stability issues ? They seem to get loose quite often and the drivers are having trouble saving the run.
Not an expert here but surely a lot of them could've saved their cars. Although we all can say what we would do but u got to also realize that these cars are travelling at high speeds from the 60ft and outwards. You don't expect the car to go hard right or left or jump out the groove so when it instantly happens it's a nerve wrecker. Only thing I hate is when a driver is slipping and sliding and their peddling the car or when they have a chance to save it they touch the gas after they corrected it already instead of letting out of it. And no prep is gamble I hate it
Can someone explain to me why most drag strips are lined with concrete? Gotta be a safer less destructive way of catching wayward cars. Surely
Callum Dunbar Probably just protocol. At the end of the day the cars are built to protect the driver so spending the money in a rebuild is better than the lawsuit that would come if a car made it to the spectators.

Because His foot is the reason the car got upset The Nebbish applied to much foot brake causing his own crash .. Much like the guys who out of shear panic saw back & forth on the steering wheel causing there's by over correcting with the wall slap as the usual punishment for doing so !!!!!

Tyler Newbury; A teenage karting amateur has a better fundamental understanding of braking and weight transfer than a grown man with a “3000hp” vehicle. Weekend racers slam on cold brakes, not professionals.
Love watching all these big slow v8 that cant handle crash. My lil crx goes straight it dont go sideways and i have just as much power to weight as them. My 2jz ricer is a camaro mustang killers
