I don't usually comment on videos but this may be the most exceptional crash compilation I've ever seen. Almost every crash was new, the footage was super high quality, and most didn't have some annoying announcer paired with the clips. Thank you for assembling these!!
Nasty crashes in Australian motorsport I remember some as a Yong teenager growing up in the eraly 90s I hope all the drivers got out without serious injury
I remember when these would come on TV and my grandfather would buy the VHS tape and we’d watch it together on his la Z boy. Times were so much easier back then
I do remember seeing the ads for some of those VHS tapes. One series in particular came flashing back into my mind: "And They Walked Away!". I wonder how many of the drivers and/or spectators in some of these clips didn't though. The Top Fuel dragster where the engine seemed to melt just off the line and sprayed what looked like molten metal everywhere like a fountain was particularly hairy. One thing is for sure, safety has improved by leaps and bounds since the early days. Do some of those racing disciplines even exist any more? Like the motorcycle sidecar racing? A definite mix of good old and bad old days here.
I’ve only got to race an Aussie once but man was he cool. He gapped me by probably 2.5 cars but damn it was fun. Much love to the Australian racing scene

1:34 that happened to my great uncle back in the mid to late 1970s, it wasn’t side car racing but it was Super Twin AMA Flat Track, so these are really big bikes, he was ran over 2-3 times on his neck shoulder and head area, he wasn’t as lucky as the person in the video, he was in a coma for around a month and was left with a traumatic brain injury that mostly paralyzed him from the waist down with limited movement of his arms and hands, his name was Eddie Daley, racing number was 80g & 80m, he raced for K&N, he passed away in 2007
that dirt track sidecar racing is intense. i'm off to watch more vids of that series. excellent compilation video. you Australians are crazy! i approve

If anyone was wondering why the track attendants were dousing the driver when he got out,it's because the fuel burns without a visible flame,so the driver may have let them know "Hey ,I might be burning here"
Just to.put it out here for all my Fellow Speed Enthusiasts... Back in August of 88 I was in a horrific Crash and Burn ...My Car was completely torn apart and what was left looked like a Empty beer can that had been kicked down the road for a few miles... TRANSMISSION AND EVERYTHING BEHIND IT WAS DISENREGRATED AND OR TORN LOOSE engine was in my lap , Right leg took out the passenger seat , My upper body and torso was in the back and facing downwards..but my headband Face was looking out the rear glass ...or where there used to be glass... I had built myself a bad ass Street Machine from a little Chevy Monzza ....lol...To keep it light..I opted out of Tubing and Caging and more into how fast I could make it go.. I was pronounced asbei g a DOA .. But , for some reason and by nothing short of a Miracle, I am alive Still and able to tell all of you my Story.... BE SAFE...Put SAFETY FIRST ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE...PLEASE...
There was an old school designed car wash near my apartment. It had huge windows on one side , and so you could see most of the machinery. But then came the new up to date stuff. Rip out the old, put in the new. The new equipment was so compact that non of it was visible despite the size of the windows, which were more like walls themselves since they took up 90% of the wall. Thanks to this new invisible equipment look, few cars showed up for the next year. So...after that episode, they ripped out the new, and put back the old non-compact design. Cars appeared regularly once again.
It's popular in Europe. Search for "British Truck Racing Championship", "European Truck Racing Championship". The one in the video looks and sounds more like Australia a good few years ago though.

HQ Holden's they were a great category right through till about 2010, because parts were too scares and getting expensive to run. They still run them at selected events, great sounds from the 202 inline 6cyl.

It's a class called Super Sedans, or in New Zealand Saloons or Super Saloons depending on what motor they run. Pretty much a step below late models.
These drivers ran so that drivers today could walk. The technology and safety features have come a long way.
