The monetization isn't scary to anyone who *actually* plays the game (nothing they sell actually provides an advantage and can all be obtained easily for free). They have gained my trust by listening to the community and giving us exactly what was needed for the past 2 years. They have said time and time again that they do not want to go p2w, and I trust they won't. I think a yearly paid expansion is totally fair and if you're complaining about paid expansions in a $40 non-sub game that has given everyone hundreds if not thousands of hours then I don't know what to tell you.

I own it but I had a kid and time flew out the Window, Anyway it's seems to me that this dlc is an expansion, so obviously if you want to play the game and dont want to buy it, you'll be at a disadvantage. Every mmo works like this and Im not sure if calling it "pay to win" is accurate. Other than that, nice Video.
It’s more in a sense of the level cap, I’ve not come across an mmo that’s put one behind a paywall before. Honestly though it’s a good game to get into 👍

@@sawmanUK Not a dig, just genuinely curious. How have you never run across an MMO that locks max level behind expansion (Lets be real, DLC is just a fancy new way of calling it) purchases? WoW, FFXIV, etc all have done so. It's been the standard forever. If anything, Games like GW2 are the outliners with base being able to compete with expansion users.

The core of NW is really fucking solid.. But it has no identity, and no character about it.. It feels like "just an mmo", like the world/animations/graphics and feel of the game is really damn good.. But there's no substance to it.. I went back and did a dungeon with 2 friends and we actually had a lot of fun, but then we found out there's barely an dungeons. The game doesn't know what it is or what it wants to be.
There are 11 on the them, on a relatively small map... thats kinda plenty, not even mentioning the ~20+ overwolrd high level dungeons you can just do at any time
Just a comment on VOIP is many players played games without voip before and their first experience was players blasting darude sandstorm in major cities muted it and never turned it back on since.
@@AMDACER1it is a very good game combat system is excellent and pvp is pretty fun. Its easy to learn difficult to be good, there is plenty to do in the game there are changes on pretty much a monthly basis and quarterly updates that are free. I've played many MMOs and this is one of the good ones.
@@pauloconnor5101disagree. Balance issues are abundant. You have one map for each PvP mode (OPR/Arena). Combat isn’t even close to the best in the action combat category. Endgame content is insanely dry. The dungeons are simplistic and boring, and they’re incredibly easy even at M3. AGS nickel and dimes their customers at every turn, for example making transmog a buy to use item, unlike WoW that just lets you transmog once you find the item in the world. Don’t forget the unnecessary timegating like chromatic seals. The final blow is most servers only have 800-1200 people, with some only at 400. You may enjoy it, but pretending it’s a “good” game is cap.
if new world tanks because a new mmo hit the market and the developer just walked away from it, no other amazon game will ever get traction. the community doesnt forget that kind of shit.
Loved the first 15 hours of gameplay of the base game. Then it started to hit me everything was more of the same. Go there, listen to mediocre storytelling, go somewhere else at least a 10 minutes walk away, fight someone, collect something highlighted, do another 10 minute walk, listen to more mediocre storytelling, collect useless reward, rinse and repeat. Same for leveling a ton of things; it is all the same thing for different weapons and such. Too much of a grind for me. And then they want more money to get a mount so I can move a little faster and do more of this in another area? Nah, uninstall was my choice instead.
I’m not sure if you played other mmos before but an expansion that increases the level cap adds new content and gear etc is not pay to win…. You still have to grind the content.. also why else would they make an expansion if it added zero new features… this video is kind of pointless to say the least

Only level 16, but I've been enjoying it. good game to just turn on and do w/e in my opinion. not to mention the community. Was in windward and there was a player on a balcony DJ'ing, with a lot of players in town lighting off particles and having a good time was quite a vibe. little things like that have me pretty decently hooked. makes the game feel like a actual world. I'm not taking it too seriously off jump. Its just an activity much like I treated runescape. games feels cozy
The expansion is not pay to win……. I think people don’t truly understand what pay to win is. Pay to win is when you can spend real money to obtain in game items to progress your character. Rather than grinding it out like normal. The expansion increases the level cap for example. You don’t automatically get those increased levels. You have to level up like anyone else. If you don’t pay for it then you can’t start working on that progress. This is not pay to win this is something they copied from wow. I remember when wows first expansion TBC came out. You literally could not go to the new area until you bought the expansion. No one called that p2w.
I think saying an expansion is pay to win is kinda dumb most every mmo have expansions and most og them have whole classes locked behind the expansions and level caps among other things

I’m a fan of New World but I’m very tired of “pay for convenience” features… Pay for transmog, pay for xp bonus, pay for gear sets, etc. Mark my words they are going to fix storage problems with some pay for convenience feature I’m fine with paying for battle pass and paying for cool skins but not pay for convenience
I think the issue is, they have a lot of unique stuff about this game but then they lean into the same practices as a lot of other older mmos. Like we get it, you need money, but at the same time they could be a lot better with the convenience.
The xp bonuses sound bad but are not even that useful. Some of the boosters cant even be used at the same time as other consumables (like the proficiency booster, which gives a higher % than the paid gathering booster does) which makes them useless. The gear sets is a little annoying but now with ward sets being out of the game its not as bad

I would like to use Gear Sets for Mining, Skinning, Harvesting, Logging, Woodwork, Smithing, Weaving, Tanning, Cooking, Jewelcrafting, Stonecrafting, Weaponsmithing, Armoring, etc... that is 13 right there and I am missing at least 2-3 maybe more ... I love collecting all these different sets ... I DO NOT LOVE having to search through my bank to find them. Then you could do at least another 5 gear sets if you wanted to do PVE and PVP with multiple load outs. I also find paying real world money for "quality of life" to be super greedy. I will pay for expansions, skins, cosmetics, hell I would even pay $20 of real money for a "New World Gold Token" to support AGS/New World
The battle pass is the least pay to win battle pass that I can see nowadays. You can craft new BIS gear and become 700 gs just from free battle pass. Only benefit of this battle pass is some skins and extra resources (which can be gathered just buy playing casually).

I don't have any max level characters so for me it was the mounts that sold the dlc. edit: I didn't know til just now that there was a new weapon in the dlc! I been away a while lol
This game is dead for me, played about a month when it released and will never play again. The game core mechanics are broken at its roots, there is nothing they can do to fix it. They fucked up...
is a paid expansion really that big of a deal? its a whole new zone worth of content that they had to spend time and money to create, its not unreasonable to charge for access, brimstone was free because they were bleeding players and needed a way to bring players back, now they are at a spot where they are "comfortable" so of course they aren't gonna give out any more free content, i mean shit no one really complained when blizzard charged 60+ for all for all of their expansions on top of their monthly fee, at least new world has no monthly fee and is only $30. my biggest concern is the cash shop and their ever creep toward pay to win.
"Shady" that an expansion releases and you have to buy it to raise level cap and get access to new features?!?! This is how WoW, FXIV, EQ, and most other mmo's with vertical progression have done it for years, I don't understand what's different here.
You can still access the First light bank from any bank. You hit the drop down and look for a bank called "last light". If you don't have the DLC you can't discover the bank so it'll be in the list of undiscovered banks at the bottom of the list.
i dont like new world, but arent you being weird about the expac? all buy to play or sub based mmos charge for expacs and they all introduce power creep (minus maybe GW2 and ESO). i find it ver strange that you keep harping on an expac being p2w.... its how mmos have been since the beginning
also the battlepass didnt include any weapons/armor.. all chests are free2play u get a few skins, few consumables and materials for like 5-10k.. but lol thats nothing :D
at the moment. The Standard pass gets an artefact at level 100...but what's to say in seasons to come that wont change. If they didnt add xp boosters to the cash shop, i might be more inclined to believe that they wont back track on their p2w mission statement
At the end of the day for me as a new player all i know is this game is really fun. Quests are actually fun, combat is actually fun, gathering is fun, exploring is fun. Im not sure how end game is and there are some confusing things but if you have never played this gake 100% at least the base game. You wont find a better looking more fun mmorpg to level up so its worth buying if you like multilayer rpgs.
I actually think they should monetize dlc´s .. better that than p2w stuff. WoW charges for each add on full title prices, ON TOP of the monthly subscription. And WoW is not the only game that charges for add-on content. How are they supposed to create add-on content in the first place without monetizing it. Developers do expect a paycheck at the end of the month as well. Ofc they could just make add ons free, and add more other stuff that costs money into the game .. but who would want to have another Lost Ark kind of experience ...
Theres nothing wrong with charging for DLC or expansions, it's just a question of how much of an advantage you end up with if you don't buy into them every time. Coming from a game where they put all the best stuff in the latest expansions, it gets tedious after a few years. At least they dont have a subscription model i guess.
Open world pvp doesnt exist, outpost rush totally garbage and unbalanced af, every single event start bugged, siege is boring and unchallenging. This game is crap
Giant open world zerg fights happen every night 3-4 times a night what are you smoking?!? OPR is unbalanced yes, the only way for them to fix it is to have role-based matchmaking but idk if thatll happen anytime soon.
Ive been playing my whole family came back to the game and no ones complaining. Also the new open world pvp races makes the game feel like what was advertised since release.
The launch was definitely disappointing. We played for about 3 months, and were the only clan to not lose their initial territory to war on our server. New World has its moments, but the combat just doesn't do it for me, but I can see why people like it.
I think you don’t realize every mmo is pay to win because of RMT. Like the many comments you’ve seen, hiding level cap behind an expansion is pretty standard for the mmo market but saying it’s pay to win I think is just little silly, in new world the most “advantage” you can get with money in game is the season pass (1 season pass every 3 months) and like others have stated it’s rewards that can be earned in game by just playing. Buying the season pass is nice and it will make your life a little easier but definitely not needed to be play, enjoy or be competitive in the game, it gives you a small amount of gold, a few crafting components and skins. Now let’s compare that to wow where you can buy a wow token and straight convert it to gold whenever you want, what blizzard does is sanctioned RMT, there is RMT in pretty much every mmo and it does allow players to get an advantage. I think harping on New World for being pay to win is a bit of a stretch if you look at the game and see what is allowed to be bought out of the shop compared to a game where you can legitimately keep buying gold and the devs are not only ok with it but make a profit directly from it as well.
@@sawmanUK in a straight 1v1 if they are the same build and the exact same skill the one that is 65 just as you can say the say example for games like wow and others. Player skill, build and game mode are always huge factors, I have a friend that is a bow main that refuses to get the expansion. He can still drop 15-20 kills as a level 60 with 625 gear in OPR. He shits on people because he is a good bow player and the build is still very good for OPR, I play bruiser and im level 65 with 700 gear and he can keep up or pass me in score/kills as a level 60 while being super competitive. if your biggest worry is a level 65 paywalled (a standard practice in MMO's) then you are oblivious to how huge an industry is behind RMT, its way worse of a problem in video games or how some games are just complete money gamba sinks, so much more to be annoyed about then this.

All your takes on the monetization are incredibly wrong lol. Ive bought the season 1, 2 and now 3 battle passes and i honestly almost felt ripped off because they give NOTHING of value besides skins and emotes. The only "pay for convenience" feature is extra gear set storage slots. Transmog can be earned in game for free or bought for relatively cheap from the cash shop (~2 dollars = token = 1 skin). As for the expansion being p2w... thats honestly ridiculous to say at this point, pretty much every mmo does this, you pay to continue playing. And if you care enough about the game to worry about being behind other players in endgame content i dont think $30 should be an issue. Theyve taken a firm stance on NOT introducing p2w so acting like thats going to be the future of the game is crazy Edit: i forgot they also added boosters, most of which are a complete scam (for example the gathering yield booster doesnt stack with the one you can craft in game, but gives a smaller boost, making its existence pointless), while the ones that are actually useful, like weapon XP boosters, can be earned on both the free and paid season pass, which is all you will ever need as leveling weapons is a 1 time thing.

Agreed. And the only XP boosters not available from other sources in the game are weapon xp and gathering xp. All other XP boosters are stronger from music or potions. Weapon xp only allows someone to get to lvl 20 on a weapon like 30-45 mins faster than someone else. Same with gathering. Its a stretch to call the xp boosters p2w.
I dont understand what u meant with the storages...you can access every storage from every town. Do you mean that they should just combine them so every player just has one giant storage?
Exactly that , it’s annoying having to go through the list to find where you put stuff. I try to be clever by putting all my stones in brimstone sands bank or wood in bright wood, but it just gets tedious 😹

That way could have all the ores, stones, etc. in a storage called "mining" etc., this way could build yourself a really good structure which would make it much easier to find stuff

Calling a DLC pay to win is a bit of a stretch. It's like calling a new WoW expansion P2W because your character can progress further. Be happy that you get to play the game without the DLC rather than having to buy it or stop playing.

Easy fix if everyone just buys the expansion. At the same time pay to win is everything from a $30 dlc to a $100,000 whale farm like diablo Immoral. Like on the pay to win scale its the babiest most borderline case I've seen but having a term the encompassed that AND $100,000 microtransaction gatcha hells out there is a bit of a problem.
I have a much bigger problem with cash shop items like xp boosters and battlepasses then a yearly expansion with a box price. I find it odd that anyone would complain that they don’t just get free content, when the only games that seem to do that are full pay to win, gatcha or honing mmo’s games.
The XP boosters are useless aside from the weapon xp booster (I have like 5 of them for free), and the paid battlepass rewards are worse than the free track rewards. Non-factors in my opinion
I think the expansion should block players from mounts, and certain zones and dungeon content but not from continuing to level past 60 since the game isn’t really playable without having max level at the very least. I’m fine if they block other progress but let them somewhat stay relevant for things like pve and some pvp but maybe limit how long it takes them to achieve certain things like a full set of 700. maybe they can’t use certain craft components as often as people with the expansion. at least that way it’s slower to progress but not completely impossible then they can’t really say it’s pay to win, just pay to not take forever to get your gear and have access to end game content/pvp.
I have been a player since launch in 2021 and built a new gaming pc at that time and got back into MMOs. Has been the best MMO I have played and have spent over $500 in the game thus far. I am excited to continue playing this game and like the new expansion and content and hope they keep it non-P2W. I hope artifacts and new gear is obtainable for all players going forward.🍾🍾
But I do think new world is great and has made huge leaps and I get super addicted everytime I play it. I am nervous about the possible pay to win. Transmog is great and horrendous at the same time with it being mainly focused on spending store money for tokens. Ripped that right out of destiny 2.
in a way it's pretty bold to put the level cap behind a paid expansion. There's no sugar coating it, if you wanna actually play this game you need to buy the expansion, otherwise there's no point. Unless you just wanna play the levelling experience, which is really good but I still cant see people buying an mmo with the expectation that they will quit after 30 hours. But at the same time, I would rather a yearly pretty-much-mandatory $30 expansion of NW to the monthly "optional" sub model of eso. My point is that both games have paid content that is *technically* optional but in reality you have to buy it if you wanna actually play the game. New worlds is a lot cheaper and it is a one time purchase (you dont lose access if you stop paying). From the view that you have to buy it anyway, NW system is not bad. BUT having a level cap behind the paid expansion looks bad. I genuinely don't think it is a bad thing but I can't deny it *looks* bad. I see amazon did not consider the psychological ramifications of their decisions.
The real issue isn't the fact that they make you pay for mounts that only work on paved roads but rather the fact that once you reach the max level you realise there's nothing to do except chop down trees and bang your head against rocks because pvp sure aint happening and neither is dungeons or much else of anything else going on end game.
Are you playing the game? There’s too much pvp atm lol and always people on GF for PvE. I think maybe you haven’t properly explored the game yet. Also get a regen boost for your mount you go a lot faster off roads with sprint
I've put 100 hours into this game and hit the level cap needless to say I got bored and uninstalled as i felt the only endgame was grinding small improvements to gear or farming materials, i didn't want to do that, I play on Oceanic servers so pvp is essentially dead .@@Ballingcat4347

He is extremely overexaggerating it. The boosters are almost useless because theres consumables you can craft that are better than the paid boosters and you can't stack them together. The paid season pass rewards are WORSE than the free pass track rewards. Expansions are part of mmo gaming, so not a red flag. And the devs have relentlessly said they will NOT go p2w.

Only level 16, but I've been enjoying it. good game to just turn on and do w/e in my opinion. not to mention the community. Was in windward and there was a player on a balcony DJ'ing, with a lot of players in town lighting off particles and having a good time was quite a vibe.
little things like that have me pretty decently hooked. makes the game feel like a actual world. I'm not taking it too seriously off jump. Its just an activity much like I treated runescape.

The expansion is not pay to win…….
I think people don’t truly understand what pay to win is. Pay to win is when you can spend real money to obtain in game items to progress your character. Rather than grinding it out like normal.
The expansion increases the level cap for example. You don’t automatically get those increased levels. You have to level up like anyone else. If you don’t pay for it then you can’t start working on that progress. This is not pay to win this is something they copied from wow.
I remember when wows first expansion TBC came out. You literally could not go to the new area until you bought the expansion. No one called that p2w.

I’m a fan of New World but I’m very tired of “pay for convenience” features… Pay for transmog, pay for xp bonus, pay for gear sets, etc.
Mark my words they are going to fix storage problems with some pay for convenience feature

I think the issue is, they have a lot of unique stuff about this game but then they lean into the same practices as a lot of other older mmos. Like we get it, you need money, but at the same time they could be a lot better with the convenience.
The xp bonuses sound bad but are not even that useful. Some of the boosters cant even be used at the same time as other consumables (like the proficiency booster, which gives a higher % than the paid gathering booster does) which makes them useless. The gear sets is a little annoying but now with ward sets being out of the game its not as bad

I would like to use Gear Sets for Mining, Skinning, Harvesting, Logging, Woodwork, Smithing, Weaving, Tanning, Cooking, Jewelcrafting, Stonecrafting, Weaponsmithing, Armoring, etc... that is 13 right there and I am missing at least 2-3 maybe more ... I love collecting all these different sets ... I DO NOT LOVE having to search through my bank to find them. Then you could do at least another 5 gear sets if you wanted to do PVE and PVP with multiple load outs.
I also find paying real world money for "quality of life" to be super greedy.
I will pay for expansions, skins, cosmetics, hell I would even pay $20 of real money for a "New World Gold Token" to support AGS/New World

The battle pass is the least pay to win battle pass that I can see nowadays. You can craft new BIS gear and become 700 gs just from free battle pass. Only benefit of this battle pass is some skins and extra resources (which can be gathered just buy playing casually).

is a paid expansion really that big of a deal? its a whole new zone worth of content that they had to spend time and money to create, its not unreasonable to charge for access, brimstone was free because they were bleeding players and needed a way to bring players back, now they are at a spot where they are "comfortable" so of course they aren't gonna give out any more free content, i mean shit no one really complained when blizzard charged 60+ for all for all of their expansions on top of their monthly fee, at least new world has no monthly fee and is only $30. my biggest concern is the cash shop and their ever creep toward pay to win.

You can still access the First light bank from any bank. You hit the drop down and look for a bank called "last light". If you don't have the DLC you can't discover the bank so it'll be in the list of undiscovered banks at the bottom of the list.

at the moment. The Standard pass gets an artefact at level 100...but what's to say in seasons to come that wont change. If they didnt add xp boosters to the cash shop, i might be more inclined to believe that they wont back track on their p2w mission statement
At the end of the day for me as a new player all i know is this game is really fun. Quests are actually fun, combat is actually fun, gathering is fun, exploring is fun.
Im not sure how end game is and there are some confusing things but if you have never played this gake 100% at least the base game. You wont find a better looking more fun mmorpg to level up so its worth buying if you like multilayer rpgs.

I actually think they should monetize dlc´s .. better that than p2w stuff. WoW charges for each add on full title prices, ON TOP of the monthly subscription. And WoW is not the only game that charges for add-on content. How are they supposed to create add-on content in the first place without monetizing it. Developers do expect a paycheck at the end of the month as well. Ofc they could just make add ons free, and add more other stuff that costs money into the game .. but who would want to have another Lost Ark kind of experience ...
Theres nothing wrong with charging for DLC or expansions, it's just a question of how much of an advantage you end up with if you don't buy into them every time. Coming from a game where they put all the best stuff in the latest expansions, it gets tedious after a few years. At least they dont have a subscription model i guess.

The launch was definitely disappointing. We played for about 3 months, and were the only clan to not lose their initial territory to war on our server. New World has its moments, but the combat just doesn't do it for me, but I can see why people like it.

I think you don’t realize every mmo is pay to win because of RMT. Like the many comments you’ve seen, hiding level cap behind an expansion is pretty standard for the mmo market but saying it’s pay to win I think is just little silly, in new world the most “advantage” you can get with money in game is the season pass (1 season pass every 3 months) and like others have stated it’s rewards that can be earned in game by just playing. Buying the season pass is nice and it will make your life a little easier but definitely not needed to be play, enjoy or be competitive in the game, it gives you a small amount of gold, a few crafting components and skins. Now let’s compare that to wow where you can buy a wow token and straight convert it to gold whenever you want, what blizzard does is sanctioned RMT, there is RMT in pretty much every mmo and it does allow players to get an advantage. I think harping on New World for being pay to win is a bit of a stretch if you look at the game and see what is allowed to be bought out of the shop compared to a game where you can legitimately keep buying gold and the devs are not only ok with it but make a profit directly from it as well.

@@sawmanUK in a straight 1v1 if they are the same build and the exact same skill the one that is 65 just as you can say the say example for games like wow and others. Player skill, build and game mode are always huge factors, I have a friend that is a bow main that refuses to get the expansion. He can still drop 15-20 kills as a level 60 with 625 gear in OPR. He shits on people because he is a good bow player and the build is still very good for OPR, I play bruiser and im level 65 with 700 gear and he can keep up or pass me in score/kills as a level 60 while being super competitive. if your biggest worry is a level 65 paywalled (a standard practice in MMO's) then you are oblivious to how huge an industry is behind RMT, its way worse of a problem in video games or how some games are just complete money gamba sinks, so much more to be annoyed about then this.
I dont understand the logic of, other games do it, so its ok. Not all games do, so seeing New World take this route gives me the ick.

All your takes on the monetization are incredibly wrong lol. Ive bought the season 1, 2 and now 3 battle passes and i honestly almost felt ripped off because they give NOTHING of value besides skins and emotes. The only "pay for convenience" feature is extra gear set storage slots. Transmog can be earned in game for free or bought for relatively cheap from the cash shop (~2 dollars = token = 1 skin). As for the expansion being p2w... thats honestly ridiculous to say at this point, pretty much every mmo does this, you pay to continue playing. And if you care enough about the game to worry about being behind other players in endgame content i dont think $30 should be an issue.
Theyve taken a firm stance on NOT introducing p2w so acting like thats going to be the future of the game is crazy
Edit: i forgot they also added boosters, most of which are a complete scam (for example the gathering yield booster doesnt stack with the one you can craft in game, but gives a smaller boost, making its existence pointless), while the ones that are actually useful, like weapon XP boosters, can be earned on both the free and paid season pass, which is all you will ever need as leveling weapons is a 1 time thing.

I have 10+ of each booster from battle passes that i will never use as they are near useless, and all transmog tokens i own have been earned in game/battle pass/prime gaming.
Keep in mind I'm a hardcore player with over 5k hours. Thousands of hours of entertainment for almost no money spent

Agreed. And the only XP boosters not available from other sources in the game are weapon xp and gathering xp. All other XP boosters are stronger from music or potions. Weapon xp only allows someone to get to lvl 20 on a weapon like 30-45 mins faster than someone else. Same with gathering. Its a stretch to call the xp boosters p2w.

Exactly that , it’s annoying having to go through the list to find where you put stuff. I try to be clever by putting all my stones in brimstone sands bank or wood in bright wood, but it just gets tedious 😹

That way could have all the ores, stones, etc. in a storage called "mining" etc., this way could build yourself a really good structure which would make it much easier to find stuff

Calling a DLC pay to win is a bit of a stretch. It's like calling a new WoW expansion P2W because your character can progress further. Be happy that you get to play the game without the DLC rather than having to buy it or stop playing.

I have a much bigger problem with cash shop items like xp boosters and battlepasses then a yearly expansion with a box price. I find it odd that anyone would complain that they don’t just get free content, when the only games that seem to do that are full pay to win, gatcha or honing mmo’s games.
The XP boosters are useless aside from the weapon xp booster (I have like 5 of them for free), and the paid battlepass rewards are worse than the free track rewards. Non-factors in my opinion

I think the expansion should block players from mounts, and certain zones and dungeon content but not from continuing to level past 60 since the game isn’t really playable without having max level at the very least. I’m fine if they block other progress but let them somewhat stay relevant for things like pve and some pvp but maybe limit how long it takes them to achieve certain things like a full set of 700. maybe they can’t use certain craft components as often as people with the expansion. at least that way it’s slower to progress but not completely impossible then they can’t really say it’s pay to win, just pay to not take forever to get your gear and have access to end game content/pvp.
I have been a player since launch in 2021 and built a new gaming pc at that time and got back into MMOs. Has been the best MMO I have played and have spent over $500 in the game thus far. I am excited to continue playing this game and like the new expansion and content and hope they keep it non-P2W. I hope artifacts and new gear is obtainable for all players going forward.🍾🍾
But I do think new world is great and has made huge leaps and I get super addicted everytime I play it. I am nervous about the possible pay to win. Transmog is great and horrendous at the same time with it being mainly focused on spending store money for tokens. Ripped that right out of destiny 2.

in a way it's pretty bold to put the level cap behind a paid expansion. There's no sugar coating it, if you wanna actually play this game you need to buy the expansion, otherwise there's no point. Unless you just wanna play the levelling experience, which is really good but I still cant see people buying an mmo with the expectation that they will quit after 30 hours.
But at the same time, I would rather a yearly pretty-much-mandatory $30 expansion of NW to the monthly "optional" sub model of eso.
My point is that both games have paid content that is *technically* optional but in reality you have to buy it if you wanna actually play the game. New worlds is a lot cheaper and it is a one time purchase (you dont lose access if you stop paying). From the view that you have to buy it anyway, NW system is not bad.
BUT having a level cap behind the paid expansion looks bad. I genuinely don't think it is a bad thing but I can't deny it *looks* bad. I see amazon did not consider the psychological ramifications of their decisions.
Can we even call that an expansion, it's clearly a paid dlc with feature that should've been free at launch (horse).
The real issue isn't the fact that they make you pay for mounts that only work on paved roads but rather the fact that once you reach the max level you realise there's nothing to do except chop down trees and bang your head against rocks because pvp sure aint happening and neither is dungeons or much else of anything else going on end game.

He is extremely overexaggerating it. The boosters are almost useless because theres consumables you can craft that are better than the paid boosters and you can't stack them together. The paid season pass rewards are WORSE than the free pass track rewards. Expansions are part of mmo gaming, so not a red flag. And the devs have relentlessly said they will NOT go p2w.
