  • PTC will never be a first responder. Conductors must remain on the headend for public safety period.

Train goes into emegency 3 days ago, stops in the middle of the woods, 60° enbankment on each side of a double main. Air hose ripped apart on an EOCC. No way a car knocker was getting out there. I got back 80+ cars, tell my EN what happened, he dropped off an air hose, a wrench, and a fusee, pulled me up to it, shoves me back, i change it, shuffle back to the head end and off we went.
Car department was dispatched anyway and carch a flat from a spike about 500 feet from the nearest crossing to me. I was probably 20 towns away while the car knockers were stranded on the right of way

The engineer and conductor parallels captain and first officer in an airplane.

U r right, Sir ..PTC is not a perfect system either. We sometimes have problems with a false signal reading..PTC may show you have a favorable signal, approach or better, you get around to see the signal, its redder than Rudolph's nose.

I find it funny how they knew exactly where this "rare occurrence" was going to happen, one of the stopped cars at the road crossing was the "conductor's" car, and that even though they made a big deal about blocked road crossings, they managed to get multiple angles of it and they went out of their way to make the conductor look as tired & bored as possible.

I happen to have a great inside source about this video and all of this stuff was staged and this “conductor” was an actor and didn’t have a clue what he was doing and also wasn’t certified or had any proper training…

@@Railroad_Talk I figured! I hope that the FRA can require two man crews!

Can you do a video of every single test that Norfork Southern gives you or can you tell me how many test you took when you went down there and how many questions were on each test?

It's a computer screen that shows you the grade and turns ahead along with upcoming speed restrictions, work authorities, bad signals ahead and more. It's not just a screen though the ptc will stop your train and tell on you if you're speeding or don't slow down quick enough before a bad signal lol. Ptc also warns the crew a lot, it calculates how long it thinks it would take to stop a train of your weight and speed and chirps a lot at your engineer telling him to slow down when you're coming up to a stop. Ptc is kinda annoying but it really is a useful tool

Class one RR need to go to one man crews with an RCOs for yard moves. Shareholders are tired of paying money for someone to sit and do NOTHING. ABOLISH THE FRA and the unions. Self regulation and right to work are the future of our society, economy, and country.

Tell that to the people of east Palestine in Ohio. That conductor and conductor trainee saved thousands of lives. Conductor isn’t going anywhere for a while. You’re ignorant.

@@Railroad_Talk you mean the guy that ignored THREE hot bearing detectors? Lololol. A Casio watch could do a better job than an high school drop out conductor.

@@moroteseoinage again your ignorant and need to study the facts of what happened. Idk where you’re getting your facts from but here is a quote from the NTSB.
“Train 32N was operating with a dynamic brake application as the train passed a wayside defect detector on the east side of Palestine, Ohio, at milepost (MP) 49.81. [4] The wayside defect detector, or hot bearing detector (HBD), transmitted a critical audible alarm message instructing the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect a hot axle. The train engineer increased the dynamic brake application to further slow and stop the train. During this deceleration, an automatic emergency brake application initiated, and train 32N came to a stop.”
