Great to see you both out on the Rocket 3 enjoying those amazing roads! The Rocket is such a beast and sounds awesome.👌 Glad i'm not the only one who occasionally forgets to change down gear and tries to pull away in third! 😄Thanks for taking us on the ride! 👍
Thanks Dave, yes the Rocket is an impressive bike to everyone apart maybe for my daughter. Even the stunning scenery was described as " mountains and rivers and stuff" they don't know they're born 🤨
Very nice ride. Great weather, No rain, how can you be bored with them views and long rolling bends. Perfect for that bike. Great to see you back out bringing us some great views which you are so lucky to have right on your doorstep.Cheers
Cheers buddy, we've had a few nice days but mostly when I'm working so it was good to get one over the weekend. I chopped two hours of video down to an hour then split it in two, I tried to make it shorter but couldn't bare to cut the more scenic bits. My daughter's reply to where did we go on the ZZR, "Oh, just some mountains and rivers and stuff", she doesn't know she was born 😊
Good to see you out and about on the Rocket. Some beautiful countryside towards the end and a fabulous looking bridge. I wondered why the big old beast stalled. Then you said it was still in third 😂 we've all done that.
Thanks Richard and Carol this was actually my second ride on the Rocket on the same route. First time around on my own and the DJI mic failed to capture sound. I think it's too easy to hit the power button when placing it in my pocket. I could have edited the stall out but it's a common mistake like you say. I've no idea how I managed to not spot the petrol flap until I got home, I guess my focus was higher up. I hope you're both enjoying the Bank holiday weekend 👍😃
Nice to see ya back out and about Mike. I see you decided to take a leaf out of my book and pull away in 3rd.😁 Man, that bike sounds great, especially under throttle. Good to see your daughter likes to go for a ride too, just like mum. Hope you and Edna are keeping well. I've finally got a date for my shoulder op, 21st May, so not long now ( unless they cancel on me )
Yes Ha!! Ha!! Pulling away in 3rd is a great habit of mine, there's no excuse really on the bikes which have gear indicators 😅 When I bought the bike I almost bought a slip on Zard exhaust but it was two grand and although not so out of place looking as some, it didn't look as good as the originals. Which actually sound better than reviewers reported saying it was quiet. For me it's just perfect, pleasing to the heart and ears without getting overbearing. I hope your surgery goes ahead and you have a good recovery.
Hi Grey Wolf, thanks for a great ride. Spring is very late in the hills, hardly any green at all! You could tell your daughter was getting a bit fed up with all the faffing about at the start 😁 until you got to the 'mountains 'n rivers 'n stuff' 😊 That engine sounds wonderful, easy to listen to all day as you said. Looking forward to the next part, we stop at The Courtyard in Kenmore for a coffee when we go that way, haven't been for a few years though. Cheers, Mick
Thanks Mick, yes my daughter was all het up, it was a warm day but with a cool breeze so not comfortable enough to take the thermal liners out of our suits. By the time I'd set up cameras etc, she was well overheating as was I. The green does seem slow to come back in the grass despite all the rain we've had and of coarse the heather stays brown until it blossoms in late summer. "Just some mountains and rivers and stuff" Oh how easy it is to take nature for granted and everything else if you're a teenager coming on twenty one. She's probably feeling old now 😂
I did this route myself the week before but the camera audio was crap and I hadn't switched on the back up, that's why my daughter isn't in the photos. The Rocket is such a pleasant bike to ride, just a little hard in the suspension on rough bumpy roads.
Cheers Duncan, I was tempted to chop of the beginning to make a shorter video as people have seen that road so many times. However I felt the conversation with my daughter and her mysteriously peeking from behind me made it worth keeping. When are you going to take a trip home and ride some of these roads for yourself?
@@greywolf9292 I know what you mean, I've forced you lot to look at the same few roads I ride many a time 😂😂 Oh sorry I thought it was the wife! She is brave. Some day I hope to get a good week over there and have time after fam to ride.
@@GermanJobbies There'll be a lot of new adventures for you now that you've got the V- Strom. Just remember to let me know when you do eventually decide to return to your homeland. My daughter had already been pillion on the ZZR which she obviously prefers, she complained of a numb bum after two hours in the saddle. Unfortunately due to the nature of the beast, Beauty's suspension is rather stiff, we caught air a couple of times.
Thanks Sammi, I hope you're getting out yourselves when the weather is kind. In part two we go from Aberfeldy to Kenmore on some narrow lanes, you might not think it but the big beast took it in its stride. Listening to that burble through the Glens was music to my ears 😊
@@ScottishSaorsa Thanks Sammi, my daughter got overly hot waiting for me to set up the camera and recording gear. I was pretty hot myself as it's still too cold to remove thermal linings once up to speed. It seems like she prefers the ZZR, I think it's more comfortable seating wise and it has the pad on the top box to stop you going backwards. She seemed rather unexcited about the whole thing, whereas my wife and son embrace the thrill.
@@greywolf9292 we were saying she doesnt know how lucky she is and how most wont even get the chance to sit on such a fabulous machine, never mind have their dad take them on an epic ride on it. 🤣 But yeah, i understand lack of comfort for young ladies seems to be a factor. I for one never minded the lack of a real 'seat' as a pillion. Its such a thrill regardless of a good cushion 🤣
Cheers Jerry, there's no point in having a Rocket if you don't give it a blast now and again 🧑🚀🏍️💨😂 Heather moorland is the Scottish equivalent of desert although it transforms when it flowers with purple blooms. I'm a bit miffed at Triumph releasing the Storm, it's stolen the colour scheme from the Black models and added the increased power of the TFC each of which were Limited editions.
@@greywolf9292 It only occurred to me afterwards that she may have had ear buds in the protect her hearing. I wish I had one that when I started riding.
I asked Gabriella last night if this was the case and she said no, she was just struggling to hear me. Perhaps the Cardo wasn't turned up enough, also I find ear plugs help cut out the wind noise which drowns out Comms.
Cheers Sean, it's certainly an awesome bike although you wouldn't know it gauging by my daughter Gabriella's reaction. Although I think what she said when I did the three vehicle overtake was " Oh, in the name of procreation I think I'd better hang on" or words pertaining to that 😉😂 Thanks for your support YT's being funny again hiding comments, views and likes.
Hi Michael, a great ride but star of the video was your daughter, she made me laugh with her replies haha. Sitting on the back of a monster bike and very matter of fact and laid back like it was just another bike 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Alex, Yes Gabriella was the true star of the show, which is why I kept the boring ( ordinarily) bits in just to gauge her responses. Like myself she was overheating in all the gear whilst I set up the recording kit. You missed a bit at the start which got chopped as I sync'd her mic to the footage, where she said "what's that?" as I placed her mic, "to record your voice on camera" I replied. "Why? I'm not going to be talking" she retorted 😅 Then there was the selfies at the petrol pumps which were shared with her brother and her boyfriend. Where I slipped up was a photo opp with her on the thumbnail, it would have went viral 😮😯😊 When we got on the bike she was listening to music from her phone, it came through on the camera audio and I was worried about a copyright strike. Either that, wind noise or not having the Cardo volume high enough meant she struggled to hear me " what?" "what?" what?" Still despite a numb bum at the end of the ride I think she felt quite relaxed and eventually appreciated the " mountains and rivers and stuff" 😂
Please read the description for further information. Thanks for watching 👍😊 If you haven't watched my other videos please give them a look, lots of stunning scenery on a range of bikes. The recent Glen Quaich video has some of the most eye catching scenery you will see in Scotland.

@@michaelwinter3132 I’m not sure Triumph will make a proper touring version like they did with the Mk1 range. I have the panniers for the 3 GT obviously not fitted on this video. I considered the luggage rack but upon research it only has a 3 kilo load, the panniers I think hold 5 kilos each. So load baring isn’t very generous.

Cheers buddy, yes it's a nice bike and handles well for its size. Reviewers said it's a bit quiet and I did think about a can swap but most alternatives just look odd or cost way too much. It sounds perfect to me, enough of a roar and burble to be pleasing to the ears. I thought hard about a Harley, really fancied a Fat Bob but I think I made the right choice with the Rocket.
That's the one drawback, you really feel it's weight when stationary although it carries that weight low. It could do with a reverse gear for manoeuvring to park. Getting it in and out of the shed is heavy going as I've just enough room for it and the ZZR1400. If I ride in forward facing or want to put it in rear first I need my son to help to get it out/in respectively. My age doesn't help, I'm 65 soon and not nearly as fit as I used to be.
