I can't afford to watch this video.
Ha! Peasant. 🫅
Me Either , Bye !!
I can't afford to to read your comment...but I got a loan. 😫
🤣😅🤣😂😅🤣🤣❤you can dream right?❤❤❤❤
As close as I'll ever get🫤🙄
Him being the first owner to do a review instead of an influencer/youtuber/journalist is such a flex. 😅
Pretty sure that he will also be the first owner to review the T50.
Lmao influencer & youtuber, these lazy af names always slay me. They're *HOSTS*
Mind blowing IK 😅
Jay is all of the above really.
He is on youtube, he influences the public, etc. Jay Leno is becoming more and more of an influencer. Cybertruck, this, etc.
Damn sure is
The matching of the pocket square and suit to the car's paint scheme is most Rolls-Royce thing I have ever seen in my life
Yep. Thought the same. Classy and well thought out. As one would expect from Rolls and their representatives.
I don’t want Jay to get old.
Me neither. However, is it just me or is Jay looking rather gaunt lately...🤔 With injuries within the last year or so and what's happening with with his wife... it looks like life is catching up with him. Just it is for all of us. He is a a National Treasure that keeps National Treasures ✨️ Can't imagine life without him 😢
its always hard to see a person getting old, but Jay still maintain his values and thoughts. But getting old means not staying in lane with a big car and not flooring it as he used to. He still stands up for motoring and what cars means to all of us regarding the paycheck, fun.
Something is wrong. Maybe just coincidence but he did now a bunch of things to provide for his wife in case his death precedes hers. He's slower, more deliberate, lost his quickness. Maybe heart issues. It almost breaks my heart. I dumped my cable tv in 1990 because I hated TV. Only show I watched was Jay on the tonight show.
Me too. He’s still doing very well.. we’re all going to get old. Just enjoy the time we have.. I have made that mistake with my grandparents etc. everyone gets old
I drove with my buddies in the canyons and Jay Leno pulled up in his car and talked to us for at least 30 minutes. He was so nice, humble and friendly. I’m glad we took a picture as a nice memory.
just don't ask to borrow his cell phone....lol
He is a real cool guy
Cool story bro
Hell, my uncle painted a few of Jay's cars.
( Jr's house of colors ). He's a very nice guy.
Make it your youtube profile pic!!
If anyone deserves a Rolls Royce, it's Jay, he appreciates the craftsmanship and design like no one else.
workers who make them and can't afford them?
Everyone who buys one, deserves one.
That's reality....
@@drsrsv8884 Especially hedge fund kids.
True. But Who’s gonna tell Jay it’s a BMW dash?
I would appreciate it more than Jay.
I love the legend where a guy had his Rolls break down in the middle of nowhere and they sent a mechanic on a chopper to get him going again. And a month later when he called his rep about the bill for his “roadside assistance” he was stiffly informed “Sir, our cars do NOT break down.”
Rolls Royces don’t break down, they “fail to proceed”
And yet I've picked up a few buddies in my Honda when their rolls and bentleys left them stranded on the side of the road. My hondas have yet to break down.
@@PatrickDKing Bought an old wreck of a Honda years ago. Drove for like 15 years, never regretted buying it. Thing was so reliable and easy to repair.
OK..... you sold me! If I ever get rich remind me please to buy a Rolls...... lol.
Love the red pinstripe..done by hand btw
Ya just gotta give it up for Jay. This guy has EARNED it.
jay there is no free lunch, the computer just recalculated your range based on your driving situation on your last drive. what a machine..
No one deserves this car, more than Uncle Jay.
He's been a Road Dog all his life, earning every cent he has.
Enjoy her Jay.

I can't for the life of me figure out how you got from where you started with your comment to where you ended. And that's *after* you edited it!

"This is a review of my new Rolls, but first, here is Jackie Stewart, who is here just watching." If I could do this, I totally would!
Imagine Jackie Stewart showing up at your “garage” just to hang out.
“Sir” Jackie Stewart
😅😅😅😅
Yeah, the car is cool and all, but Jackie is THE REAL FLEX😂
"At 60 miles an hour the loudest noise in this new Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock" - the iconic headline from legendary adman David Ogilvy. Wonder what he would have written about the Spectre.
Years ago, I was waiting for a friend who was shopping on Colorado in Pasadena. I didn't really feel like traipsing along, so I said we'd meet later and I walked down the street and into Rusnak to have a look at the first new Phantom of the BMW era. Now, like most people in the world, I couldn't begin to afford one, but I was treated like a valued customer, given a complete tour of the Phantom they had in the showroom and we had a great talk about cars in general and Rolls-Royce in particular. That's customer service. You never know who you have in your business and how their fortunes might change. Fast forward to the Napa launch of the Spectre. I'm walking into Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, past the Hyatt Regency where two huge transporters are disgorging Cullinans, Ghosts and Phantoms. On my way back home, I strike up a conversation with a gentleman who's overseeing his charges in the parking lot. The RR employees and crew were staying in the hotel and the cars were for potential customer drives. More great conversation and a tour of a Cullinan. They hire some great people at Goodwood.
Used to live in the Paseo right up the street on Colorado in Pasadena back in the 00s and can confirm - Rusnak is an excellent dealer with great customer service.
What a pleasure seeing Sir Jackie Stewart doing well. Such a legend.
“I would just be getting out of jail NOW”
Lmaoooo Jay is getting older, as we all do, but it makes me happy to see him still be witty and hilarious, I can’t get enough of these stories he has.
Fantastic Jay has the balls, funds and confidence to Buy such an OUTRAGEOUS PIECE OF KIT! 🙏💕🌏😊
BTW - Jay’s new look, lighter weight and good health is great to see… his wife must like it as well. 👍👍👍
Have you ever known anyone who left 35,000 dollars on a stage before..... in a paper bag no less? Ha ha.... I think that would be near half a million dollars in todays money! You could buy a house for 10 grand back then......
No Leno fan would beat him up in the comments for buying a RR. The difference he’s made in peoples’ lives makes him one of the few people in the world I think deserves an RR.
Don’t begrudge Jay Leno in any way whatsoever to be able to afford a Rolls Royce Spectre. He is such a pleasant, humble, and knowledgeable man, if anything Rolls Royce should be appreciative that such a knowledgeable car guy would buy one and be happy to endorse a car like this.
I totally agree!!!!!
Man, I'm so glad Jay is still sharing videos like this. I feel like this is a landmark video on the channel. He bought (a very expensive) a car purely because he thought it was the perfect car for him and his wife at this stage of life and he wanted to experience/enjoy it. Rolls Royce was also a beginning of his interest in cars and he feels deeply connected to the brand. If anyone deserves one of these cars, it's Jay. I see and hear him in this more frail state and I am just heart warmed that he can share stories and jokes like this with us and chooses to do so through the channel. God Bless this national treasure.
cheers to that.
It is because he knows fully well hes at the stage in life its the right time to buy the pinacle in electric car.......
Everyone who buys one, deserves one.
Such a stupid outlook😬
Amen!!!
It’s a privilege watching, probably the greatest car enthusiast I’ve ever seen, talking and enjoying about a machine that clearly he wanted to own from a child.
After everything that Jay has achieved in his life, you can tell that this purchase is a genuine milestone in his life and I could not be happier for him.
Jay has multiple Rolls Royces, this isn't his first, so I'm not sure what sort of a milestone this is. Only he knows that answer.
Why would he want to own it FROM a child??
Because that child needed to sell it to buy an SF90? 😂
This is the greatest reason people like Jay and Oprah didn't bother with kids to give them bad headlines as they grew up.
@@Narblo youve never heard the phrase "It's so easy it's like stealing a Rolls-Royce from a baby"
I liked his commentary on the pinstriped guy drinking scotch. I usually have pretty steady hands. But often when I go to solder something, it’s either under stressful or rushed conditions, or it’s just after a long day of work. As a sound engineer, I’m often pushed hard with little notice to get something done before a deadline that cannot be changed. To ask some big time rock star to wait is the same as asking to be fired. Somehow, while under the gun, is when I do my best work as a live sound guy. But after hours, when I’m casually taking the time to solder a mic or mic cable or some circuit board component in place, my hands might not be quite steady enough to do it right. So, a couple of pulls on the Jameson, a bit of the THC therapy, and I’m right as rain, and leave a nice clean solder connection which I’ll most likely never need to touch again. So that’s why the pin stripper takes a swig, I’m sure. You can’t have a shaky hand while drawing a perfect and narrow strip down the flank of a 20’ long car that costs $100,000-$1,000,000. A mild sedative does the trick.
When we was to do our final exams as welders my mate was in a difficult situation.
He had built a nice house like a cabin with big wooden logs and such, but got divorced. So he desperately needed the job as a welder, or he would not just loose his wife, but the house too. And all was depending on this final weld in the welding booth.
With all that in his mind he was rightfully nervous. So, he got himself something helping him chill. Made the exam, got the job and could keep his beloved house.
But to use drugs, legal or illegal, or alcohol to much for any reason is just not good. My missus is a high performance person and always get a lot of responsibilities at work. But the last few years she "needed" a drink or two (or a bottle or two) to calm down after work. Eventually the "ran into the wall", because the workload was just too much. Now she is on a long sick leave. We can have a glass once in a while but besides that she is sober.
As with everything, it is a balance.
"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
1 Corinthians 6:12
Expedient
adjective
1: suitable for achieving a particular end in a given circumstance
2: characterized by concern with what is opportune
especially : governed by self-interest
noun
: something done or used to achieve a particular end usually quickly or temporarily : an expedient action or solution
Me myself, I don't work as a welder no more. I manufacture $10,000 high end audio cables, as an ordinary job. Luckily I got steady hands... ;)
Thank you Jay for sharing your time with us. It’s humbling to hear your thoughts and personal knowledge of your cars.
Weird realizing I grew up with Jay with grey hair with the little dark patch in the center, now he's here with full white and his voice sounding a little weak. Glad he's still with us. Sharing his passion and making us laugh.
Set Playback Speed to 1.25x and old people Sound much younger
When I first remembered seeing him, he had all dark hair with a grey section on top. I’ve watched him steadily since. I didn’t notice the grey patch getting bigger till the dark hair was totally gone. My hair suddenly turned grey too. It happens too fast.
Jay is looking trim! Who's been here since the Doritos comercial? 😄

And x1.75 for cartoon characters 😆
Just saying he's looking old & rather frail!
I'll forever love Jay, standing there in wrangler denim with a new rolls. He makes a guy feel relatable in a way I can't describe.
You cannot save the planet by digging it up to make the car and battery. It loses power standing still.
I hope Jay makes an hour long video, when he gets his T.50!
Or even longer!
Jay, you absolutely do not need an excuse to buy a lovely Rolls. It is automotive art and I am sure you enjoy your time in it. Congratulations on your new car. It's a beauty.
No one needs to justify spending their own money.
The opinion of bitter, jealous losers doesn't matter.
Paul is 90 !!!! Looks at least 20 years younger.
No doubt. Good for him. Stress free 😂😂
Sir Jackie is hangin' in there, too
Bless 'em all ...
Seinfeld is 70 and Leno is 75.
Dang that guy doesn’t sound or look 90 AT ALL!
He must be doing something right. Sounds like the man has had quite the life.
That car is truly a work of art. It must be like being in a fancy ballroom with the fiber-optic ceiling.
What I love in this video is that Jay is not trying to show off his wealth or flex to anybody that he’s made it in the world. He hosted the Tonight Show for all of my growing up, and he still Makes bank every week by appearing at comedy clubs in Los Angeles to perform. Any definition the guy has already made it. He’s just excited about cars and loves to talk about them With the owners, the designers, the engineers, and interesting people that love cars. He said many times that he’s more of a Bentley guy than a Rolls guy, But this electric Rolls-Royce Spectre caught his eye And he had the means to go out and buy it… So he did. I’m not super excited about electric cars either, but this thing seems totally on brand for Rolls-Royce. Fun video and great job as always Jay!
I’ve always been impressed by Jay’s success as a comedian, talkshow host and his knowledge of automobiles and of course his humbleness . The story of him delivering the cars and the bag of cash left me more impressed
Facts. He is quite sharp at drawing in his audience with a certain rhetoric that feels trustworthy
If my wife of 40+ years was going through the early stages of dementia, and I was rich and wanted to drive her around in comfort & peace, this is what I would choose. Good on you Jay, keep ignoring the hate.
That's what I thought it was one of the reasons he bought it.✌️
WHAT HATE?
If …
Nobody should have hate for Jay...national treasure.
I agree
He deserves it
An absolutely amazing car...brought to us by perhaps the greatest automobile enthusiast of our time. Thank you Jay.
Pure Jay. If there is a worthwhile automobile anywhere, Jay has an interest. His background working with Rolls and his extraordinary knowledge of automobiles and their history makes him the perfect owner. Jeans and all.
Jay Leno is the epitome of class and humility. Such a legend.
I wonder how many people buy a $500,000 Rolls Royce and can also talk about pulling out the seat in his 40-year old Bentley to get to the battery so he could solder in a new one? (Although I bet he won't be changing the battery in his Rolls by himself).
My heart feels warm knowing Jackie Stewart is still with us... and he looks great!
He looks at deaths door.
@@squoocher He's 84. How do you expect to look at that age?
Last season in Miami on the F1 grid Jackie blowing through security to grab Roger Federer for Martin Brundle to interview. Jackie is still a complete boss.
Sir Jackie Stewart. And yeah, too many great racing drivers aren't with us anymore due to tragic accidents. Glad he dodged that fate.
It may be a flex to just have a 3 time F1 world champion sitting in the corner, but after seeing him there I really wanted a half hour chat between Jay & Jackie.
Love when Jay Leno remanences. His stories are the best!
Thanks for showing us that beautiful car Jay. It's hard for me to get excited about EV's but that is definitely a game changer
Why someone should "give you a hard time" about it would be their problem not yours
From what I've read about you you are an extremely hard worker and one subject you have never talked about which I would find fascinating is your use of time management
I was also interested in the cameo of Jackie Stewart I guess he was just visiting that day?
I like to tell the people the story of how I was literally 20 or 30 feet from him at the 73 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.
I was in the army and the German bus driver could not find the entrance to that massive track and with the race time starting just pulled to the side of the track and said pick yourself an area and just stand there
So there I was just separated by a cyclone fence and Armco barrier
Anyway it's obviously a beautiful car and a car that would get admiring glances even in car jaded Los Angeles
Like everyone else, I of course, enjoy the craftsmanship of a Rolls Royce. More importantly, its fantastic to see Jay enjoying the decades of hard work and just being himself. He deserves to treat himself. Congrats Jay... It's beautiful...
I'm sure a lot of people are sending love and prayers for you and your wife, love from the UK and all the best!
Jay is truly a National Treasure
I love watching these videos for Jay's stories. It's like listening to my grandpa share stories from his youth. These videos are phenomenal. I feel like they are responsible for archiving who Jay Leno is for future generations.
In the past 6mo Jay seems to be losing weight, hopefully he's doing well. We need him to be around for a long time 🙏
Hopefully just exercising
He seems softer spoken as of recently.
@@Sir-Worthington yeah that and weight had me wondering
It's great to see Jackie Stewart, has Jay lost a lot of weight lately???? Hope he is ok
I hadn't watched an episode in about that time frame. The difference is shocking. He doesn't look well.
Love these personal back stories. Jay. Paul. Awesome. Happy for Jay. The 19 year old kid made it!
Jay is just a master class when it comes to car review and his sense of humor still remains legendary
4:08 - this is such a great story. He has the best stories. 😂
Great seeing Jackie Stewart again. I watched when he was racing way back when. I think he and Sterling Moss were my two favorite drivers.
Agree, but between SM and JS I think Jim Clark is my personal favorite.

Watching Jayn Leno is a lesson of a humble person, he makes you feel like you are his good friend.
Jay Leno is a the best. Such people are rare. He wears his success well. And his humility makes him a real person to the rest of us. Thank you to him for sharing his brilliant cars and knowledge with us.
Mr. Leno has earned every bit of that ride. I hope he enjoys it as much as I enjoy watching his show.
I'm glad you bought your Spectre, Jay. It's a beautiful automobile, and with your history of working for a Rolls Royce dealership back in the day, no one could appreciate more than you the quality of these amazing automobiles. Thanks for sharing your new car with us.
This video exudes what it really means to be a motoring enthusiast. Gas, electricity, hydrogen, it doesn’t matter what it is powered by, if it is a good experience it is worth discussing.
Is it just me or has Jay really aged in the last year or so. He’s really got that “old man hunch” going on
Love ya Jay!
I think he's a bit better in this video. He's moving a bit more normally than in a lot of videos in the last year. He really appeared to be adjusting to his last couple of accidents. I will grant you than the "old man hunch" might be accurate. Then again, I think he kind of was that way back when as Dennis Miller said, "that Morrita movie". Yes, he was a lot younger but he moved around the same just more quickly. Still, my parents are around the same age as Jay and it is annoying and somewhat shocking when "age" all of a sudden hits them hard.

Automatically thumbs up for Sir Jackie!!!
Forget what others might say, Jay, it's your money and you earned every cent of it! I congratulate you!
Jay don' care ...
Jay, YOU are the ULTIMATE CAR GUY !!!
I picked up an 86 Silver Spirit with 24.000 miles on it 3 years ago. I'm like Jay I bought it to drive it and drive it I do every day.
NOTHING beats driving a Rolls Royce!
BTW I was a pilot for a career and I flew Jay to Las Vegas once many years ago and I can attest that he is as nice in person as he seems on the screen.
Jay talking about the Pin stripping guy described the guy from our area to a T. Same M.O. “Painter Paul” as we knew him back in the day in Northern IL. He had the shakes real bad until he got well lubricated with alcohol and then he had the steadiest hand you ever saw. A true free hand artist.
Jay is so much 'his own man'! When the Rolls-Royce guy says: 'coo-pay' ... Jay says 'coop' ... I don't know why this is so funny to me but Jay Leno is an original he could care less what other people say. It's what he thinks that's important and that's why we all love him!
Jay is just one of the guys like you grew up with in the neighborhood. What a pleasure to see somone so famous but unaffected by his celebrity.
Thankfully didn’t go for a denim interior.
or the peasant deflecting cow catcher.....lol
😂
Now, that would truly be the Leno edition.
😂😂😂😂
Oh man, this one made me laugh at 1am. Thank you
It's amazing how Jay can pull the umbrella out and immediately come up with a joke about the chauffeurs taking a self-defense course in umbrella use and demonstrate the moves.
Jay's passion and interesting facts and questions mixed with wit and humor is an unbeatable combo!
What a great storey Jay told about his day as a young comedian and working for Rolls-Royce as a 19 year old. Comedic Royalty! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
He left the 💰on the piano! 🤣
We love you Jay!! 🥰✌️❤️🦋🙏
I really enjoyed watching this video about a car I will never see on the road, and one I will never be able to afford. I just watched because I love Jay Leno.
What i love a out the spectre is they used the ev platform in a way that could literally fix all my mental issues as soon as i stepped into it.
I could feel wise, appreciated, respected, a gentleman, a man to be fascinated by and to even some extent, fear yet semi approachable.
Wait, i think that perfectly represents leno and what he has done with his collection.
The story of Jay leaving the 35k on the piano is absolute gold!!! Love this man, stay safe Jay!!
$35K FIFTY YEARS ago, at that!!!
It's always sort of amazing to hear Jay's old school stories.
I was born in 1969 and it's amazing that Jay wasn't "wacked" or in prison (and then wacked) sometime in the Johnny Carson era. 😁
When Jay buys a Rolls, he gets the head of their communications department to help him spec it. When other rich folk get one, they spec it with Rory at their local dealership.
Jay Leno, after I finally finished watched this video yesterday, having seen/heard bits & pieces of it throughout the day, in between “regular life” of work & such, I got to thinking about this, your latest acquisition/ride & well, from my own personal experience of for what vehicles I’ve owned (@ 40 over the decades) the one “classic car” I’ve thus far been able to keep, as my very-longterm-restoration-project car, has been & is, my 1955 Buick Super 56R (2 Dr HT Rivera) w/factory a/c… this mentioned, & having known for decades that one of your personal favorite cars, has been your ‘55 Buick Roadmaster 72R.
This new RR Spectra is an amazingly executed, highly refined gentleman’s vehicle, that which, after thinking about it some, does indeed harken back to various aspects of exactly what makes the mid 50’s GM cars so highly desirable, to this day.. per ride, feel, handling, sound-deadening, comfort, curb weight/height/width/length, sleeper-power or thrust, over all layout design &, styling.. nothing extremely excessive; all JUST RIGHT! And build quality? I’d argue the mid 50’s might have been the last timeframe of car ass’y line man’f’g “mass production” in general, done nearly as well as this modern car’s crafters’ care to methodical detail… I enjoy hearing/seeing you, enjoying life, to the fullest, for our entertainment & educational value, of allowing us an opportunity of sneak-peaking into the world of high-class auto man’f’g!!!
The guy kept prompting you to put 4 people in the car...you should've taken Jackie and the Rolls dealer with you ! Cheerio ! 😂
Jay, it would never occur to me to "beat you up" for being a real lover of cars!! I'm a child of an automotive father, and now, at 70, I still derive a ton of happiness from driving different cars! And that Spectre is an absolutely beautiful creation! The suspension in it is beyond belief! I'm really loving the conventional looking grille (even though I don't think it has a function!) and yet modern front end! RR never disappoints! So nice having Mr. Spahn there with you pointing out some features. Jay, thank you so much for the entertaining tour of your new acquisition! Enjoy every minute of it!
Jay, you deserve a car like this. You’ve entertained us all for free when you share your garage with us, so drive the tires off it! By the way, your lovely wife deserves it more. The very best to you both.
I was lucky to meet Jackie Stewart many years ago. I'd been driving round the track and after we were talking about different things and 1 of them was faster track times. He says to me, "When you come to a bend, you only brake once, you only accelerate once. Never let off!"
This is so cool.. Glad to see Jay enjoying his Spectre, and demonstrating how one could enjoy traditional luxury and elegance while at the same time embracing the absolute very peak of technology, all in the pursuit of a singular automotive experience.
Over 10 years ago, when Tesla was first getting started, I remember thinking that the very first electric vehicles that ought to be brought to market first should be relatively heavy vehicles that would benefit from massive, instant, smooth torque -- and the two case uses that stood out to me immediately were the ultra-luxury cruisers such as Rolls Royces and Bentleys, and the other were the full-size pickup trucks and large SUVs. It took some time for them to come to market, but you can now buy silent, smooth, torquey ultra-lux models such as the Spectre, as well as Rivians and Lightnings, etc.
Jay buying one is basically the best review you can get
Rolls Royce has always been my favorite car brand. It’s seriously a marvel of engineering and even though I will most likely never be able to afford one I can only imagine that driving one is an experience in of itself. Absolutely amazing !
No one should begrudge Mr. Leno for fulfilling his desires. He earned every bit of his success, and despite being cast by the wayside by NBC, he continues to show himself as a decent, and intelligent person, who is genuinely enjoying his life.
You are amazing Mr. Leno.
Watching you all thes years made life a bit easy and reminded us that things aren't as bad. You are a hero a legend and a kind human being 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
That guy is talking to Jay as if he still trying to sell Jay the car LOL
At heart, he is more marketing than car guy type. He's relatively knowledgeable but not interesting in a conversational manner. When he says that their customers won't care how their car is propelled? (260 mile range😂)??
His response for the thin v. thick steering wheel.? Laughable!
Not to pick on the guy, but I felt like I just left an insurance seminar and not a conversation about a "cool" car.
God bless Gentleman Jay for his patience on this one!
The scummy part of the interview. Jay must have got a sizeable discount for having that clown on. Jay is a smart man and would never turn down free money.
@@oscargeorge1 Yeah I had a hard time listening to the guy. He was too concerned about marketing and constantly giving a hypothetical sales pitch that always went nowhere.
He says “we”, a lot also, as if he had anything to do with anything.
That’s what I find annoying about the video, like dude drop the sales pitch tone lol
Him being the first owner to do a review instead of an influencer/youtuber/journalist is such a flex.
Years ago now &, only briefly, I owned TWO Renault Dauphine’s.. if I remember, they were either both from 1959 or, one was ‘58 & one was ‘59. Very interesting little cars those were! Still water cooled 4 banger, rear mounted, facing forwards to a radiator mounted directly behind rear seat cushion.. had cool louver air intakes built into their itty-bitty rear doors, that’d direct outside air, behind said cushion &, into front of radiator. One of them cars had push-button gear selection buttons on dash, still having a stick shifter. Can’t recall correct spelling but its clutch system was called a “Furlic” clutch, which, when the “D”-rive dash button was selected, incorporated a type of veritable resistor mechanism , connected too its carburetor linkage &, that “module” also had the Speedo cable run thru it.. effectively allowing the driver to “float” the gears, for when each most optimal gear selection should be made, an electromagnetic clutch would disengage, allowing next gear to fall in… the other car was just a standard manual clutch peddle type. I got those two cars back when I was about oh, 15 & well, was already by then, near 6’ tall! Stopped at 6’4”… was never really able to fit in those cars, lol.
What Jay says about cars is exactly how I feel as a 29 year old (unpopular opinion) I don't see the point of cars like the Urus. I also like how he mentions the car isn't about showing off for him but its because he loves the car and the history he had with Rolls-Royce when he was younger. True car guy right there. Hopefully I get to have as many as him one day (currently on 5 cars) haha. It is a life long dream of mine to be able to commission a Rolls-Royce and hand pick every aspect of the car to my liking. Appreciating a car for craftsmanship design and quality instead of status. I also like the reference of BMW buyout and the fact they're open to talk about and how the two came together in what seems like a perfect match. Also very important they are still assembled in England even if they do have German parts on there :).
My Uncle Norman Rowan and his oldest son were engineers for Rolls-Royce near Glasgow Scotland. They worked on jet engines, many airlines used RR engines. I ended up working on F-15 airplanes in the United States Air Force. My mother born in Scotland, emigrated in the early 50s and worked for Pan American Airlines.
I just imagine when the bomb came through the factory roof in WW2 somebody with a large moustache, drinking a cup of tea, and hitting the bomb back out of the roof with his cricket bat. His colleague probably said " That was a close one old boy, you nearly spilt your tea"
Brilliant !!
When men were men
Trust me no bombs came through that roof in 1946, the war was over.
@@GunRunner3 Who said anything about 1946? Where did that come from?
@@rtflonejay misspoke and said 1946
I drive a 1972 Ford Courier pick up…actually made in Japan by Mazda…I’ve had it to 6 of the 7 continents with me while I served in the USMC from 1985 to 2021…683,400 +/- miles on it…two inframes with .40 over pistons…only car I’ve ever owned…Lieutenant General Bryan Maxwell. USMC ( Retired )…🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think that’s great General, and I thank you for your service! I hope you are appreciative of Jay as well! Cheers and again, thank you sir!
I enjoyed this, I'm a Rolls Royce fan but I've been skeptical of electric cars especially the beefier ones that perform well but need charging more. The part of the country (uk) I live in there isn't really the availability for public charging and I don't have a driveway to hold my own charger so the reclaiming of power and adding to the range on occasions is a big plus, many thanks to Jay and the Rolls Royce guy for running through everything
I love the Rolls-Royce beautiful car, beautiful engineering. I will never be able to afford one, because I will never be able to work again. Stuck with multiple sclerosis, I have what I have, I will never get more, and because of my disease it will always take away. I can still look at these cars though and appreciate how beautiful they are and I'm thankful that Jay Leno is sharing his collection with viewers like me, and I appreciate that people from Rolls-Royce came to explain finer details that I'll never be able to appreciate firsthand.
I heard Jay say that when he worked at the car dealership, some of the other guys said he was dreaming when he said he would someday own a RR, or be rich. Jay thought it could happen. It's America. He believed and is showing us it's real. We can't let feelings of misfortune or illness overtake us. We have to believe that's not what defines us. We are working toward our dreams. Day by day, battle by battle. I wish you the best for your dreams.
@@dannyschoolcraft5984 unfortunately I have multiple sclerosis, that has truly devastated me I can't even afford my necessary medication a little on a rolls-royce, but I can still look at one and dream.
Gorgeous automobile. Thank you so much for sharing it with us Jay! I think the most telling part about the vehicle is how happy Jay is with it. If a guy with this many vehicles can still get excited about a new car, it tells you everything you need to know about the man and the car. Love it!
Jay, you and your car videos are the most pleasant and understated experiences on TH-cam. I hope to see more of you and your car videos for a long time still. Cheers!
I remember meeting Jackie Stewart whole filming a video for Ford Motor Company. He was charming and regaled us with fun stories. Someone asked him to define the difference between understeer and oversteer. He said in his magnificent brogue “Understeer is when the FRONT of your car hits the wall. Oversteer is when the BACK of your car hits the wall.”
Love these massive coupes. The epitome of class and presence. What a machine!
Jay shares his gift of humor, and his love of cars. Thanks Jay.
Started reading some of these comments and wow I had to stop. Jay you have one of the most diverse shows from the first horseless carriage, steam, to gas, to diesel and now electric. You cover the classics to the new innovations of electric. As Sinatra would say you do it your way! Again enjoy your new ride you deserve it......
Man.. Jay has the best stories and he just mentions them like nbd.
Most uncles would be telling that bag on the piano story every thanksgiving
Love the trip down memory lane Jay. Prayers for Mrs. Leno.
Funny how the Rolls is so reflective of the level (the highest) of humility Mr. Leno seems to possess. I've never met the man and probably never will, but that is my impression. The love and passion for anything automotive makes him like us, with better cars.
Not that I'd ever be able to afford a car like this but I absolutely love this car. Brands like RR and Rolex are among some of the greatest brands ever.
Would never expect the guy riding with him to say “murdering out”, lol.
Hard work and humility are truly commendable. Keep reaching.
Jays been treating himself for the last 50 years!
Jay has used his SMARTS to endure and PREVAIL.
I like how the sales agent is dressed to match the Rolls. Nice touch! Great stories from Jay
you know what?…..he has worked hard all of his life ….and is still traveling and working even though he may not have to .
if he wants a rolls, then I wish him well with it. he earned it.
With Sir Stewart it was always "a great day for motor car racing."
