    Give me models and comparisons. It does influence my choices.

      The Nakamichi is the most interesting one for me right now, but I am very curious about Philips Fidelio B97 that is supposed to release next month, it seems to want to compete at the very high-end.

      Personally, the Sennheiser Ambeo is far out of my budget, and is more of an enticing option that true audiophiles would be interested in as a potential replacement for an existing receiver-based system utilizing physical speakers at each respective channel preference/capability (9.2.4 vs 5.1.4 vs blah.blah.blah, etc.) who want to downsize or simplify their system by taking advantage of technological advances that enable an out-of-the-box solution that can satisfy them, or for an inexperienced (read: entry/beginner audiophile) enthusiast looking for an audiophile-in-a-box-for-dummies type solution (no knock on the "for-dummies" piece - I most-definitely consider myself to be in that category only without the monetary means to justify it). I'm not sure where your sweet-spot is for your Subscribers, but it's not necessarily a review that I would be looking at in terms of helping me make a purchasing decision. Though, I have to say I would very much like to see your personal take on this, and any of the others you've listed simply because I really like your review style.
      I'm more interested in a budget cap of around $1500 US, and getting the best audio-enthusiast-tempting performance out of that budget, while ensuring an audio-for-dummies out of the box solution that doesn't require calibration, constant tweaking, etc. to get it up to that level. Stability is a major factor for me as well as ease of use, which is primarily why I'm not going for the Samsung options (based on your reviews - thank you!), and why I've also determined the JBL Bar 9.1 is not what I'm looking for. I would love to see you review the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 system though, as this soundbar setup falls right in with my personal budget and, on paper, seems to be a competitive option to my current top choice - the LG SN11RG.

    I have bought it in London recently and I am pretty happy with it. I have got it for £650. It was 2 times less expensive than HW-Q950T (£1300) and almost 3 times less expensive than Sonos set (£1856). Clearly the best bang for the buck.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought it worked really well with the C9 directly. I got some wired behavior when connecting streaming boxes to the C9. I imagine a little more focused work may have led to some useful debugging. I will say I just unpacked a competitor $999 system and, oh boy, the JBL is wayyyy better. Questioning whether I should even bother reviewing it. Appreciate the comment.

    Almost everything about this soundbar appeals to me. I actually don't want rear speakers hanging around the house so the idea of taking them off, sticking them at the ends of my couch, watching a movie, and then sticking it back for a fuller sound on regular TV sounds perfect.
    The only huge qualm I have is the lack of settings. If I can't make out the voices in something, the fact that I can't even do something as simple as turn up the center channel is really unappealing.

  • @JayJay-jx3zg
    @JayJay-jx3zg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Disappointing that they are missing some woofers the higher ends are carrying. That being said, I hope you review the Vizio Elevate. It's like the jbl 9.1 in size and ideals, but fills in the gaps, literally and figuratively. The soundbar is only 32 inches, but has 2 woofers and a tweeter per channel, however it rotates the Atmos speakers down for any non Atmos content for a wider soundstage, which gives it 4 extra drivers over everybody else and turns it into a 48" soundbar. Now that's ingenuity! The Elevate will be, or close to soundbar of the year.
    Great review again btw. It's getting boring how good your reviews are (another great review...) Jk, keep it up señor, you'll be at 10k subs in no time.

      I just wrote a similar comment. Had the JBL and returned it last week because of what was mentioned, ordered the elevate from Best Buy (seems to have exclusive selling rights for first month) and WOW the sound is AMAZING...there are some technical issues that require some initial fiddling and a medium amount of technology understanding but once it’s working the sound stage, clarity, and separation is superb, plus music on it SLAPS... hope you get a chance to check it out soon, interested on your take!

    Thanks for your honest feedback in these reviews. I'm glad TH-cam popped your videos into my recommends! This review in particularly has won my subscription to you, and I'll honestly say your the 1st Tech Reviewer that I WANT to receive notifications on. I have not been able to find what I believe to be a truly unbiased review on this particular soundbar until this one done by you. All other reviews I've come across make the viewer feel that this bar in particular is the better-buy compared to the LG SN11RG & Samsung Q950T options, and it sounds like it may have some points where it does. Your thorough review has helped me identify key points where it doesn't though, and has helped me make a purchasing decision that I am now confident I'll be happy with. Thanks for thinking of "every angle" and your consumer-forward review that compliments your technical review as well.

      @@neverenoughtech I find your reviews to be as in-depth as I would like to be with every product before I make a purchasing decision. You're answering the questions I would ask either at the time of purchase, or ones that I believe I would have asked before buying a product but wouldn't have realized I had prior to having direct experience with that product. I hope that makes sense! I also appreciate the witty dry humor, it's right on par with my own.

    Just picked up and installed the JBL Bar 9.1. Have AppleTV plugged directly into the bar and was horrified at the quality of the dialogue, like you said. Turned off ‘Smart Mode’ and it fixed it. In fact, it improved the sound dramatically. Not looking forward to turning it off every time I turn on the bar...

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t have the same experience turning off smart mode - maybe I forgot to try that. Did you by chance have any luck getting Dolby verifications on the display? I’d like to create an update/correction if users are having success in this realm ... I don’t have the bar anymore.

I probably would not suggest for full retail at $900 when you could obtain a Sonos system on sale for around $1.4K or other true surrounds with Atmos for around $1K. One feature I do like is the rear speakers are rechargeable by magnetic ports on the primary bar, or you can simply plug them in for 24/7 surround. Those rear speakers can also be taken around the house, on the back porch, in the garage, etc. if within range for music needs - though you lose the bass with this method.

      @Albert Manzo (of what I tested) If I wanted to find the best sound from a soundbar I think it’s Q950T playing uncompressed Dolby probably from a BR. I talked at length on Q950T over a few videos so there are definitely downsides.
      Though I suspect perhaps the best sounding wireless system is the www.klipsch.com/products/klipsch-reference-wireless-5.1-home-theater-system . Gonna sound way better than any soundbar. But you don’t get 3D audio, works with limited TVs. Read fine print. Planning videos.

    I don’t understand why you would have complains about those extra options you could activate with the remote button combinations when it’s not mentioned in the user manual en music sounds way better with smart mode off, have you tried this? If you have the surrounds connected to the main bar it will only charged them of the bar is on standby mode!

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ang S I complained about JBL enabling a sound mode category where it seemed there was not a recovery point. Yes tried with smart mode off. If that’s the mode people seem to like and it always defaults on ... well that seems like an unbelievable oopsie on JBLs part. Yes I charged in stand by. I was always receiving messages to dock and low battery levels after long charges and even when plugged in via USB. Maybe my unit was faulty. Glad to have such a passionate person watching my vids!

      @@neverenoughtech I always enjoy your videos, specially the way you deliver the tech reviews with entertainment, also cute kid.
      The bar has its problems, don’t get me wrong. Wish it had an app so I can activate and deactivate smart mode and always could check what the source sound codec is. I have never had charging problems, just think those gta cheat code for your remote are simple cost reducing methods for not giving it a better remote. Still all this is solvable by just bringing out an app with equalizer and remote remote options. I never use my remote, always use the hdmi-cec option to change volume, that’s why app would be a game changer, also I have had the q950t and the lg , sound was a little bit better, but overal practical usage and price , this I think is a far better deal, that display on top of the q950t was hella annoying, it would even be less annoying if I could check what the source audio was on the app, doesn’t make any sense, big company like that, who comes up with that design choice. Ok shitload of my thoughts over, my apologies.

      @@neverenoughtech Thank you for the answer, Dolby Audio is on the back of my TV. So there's nothing about Dolby Digital +. Unfortunately, I don't know my way around either.

      Yeah, assuming your tv does not support Dolby Digital + and your TV has an ARC port, if you plug directly into the bar (Apple TV, Blue-ray), you are completely bypassing the tv audio wise and the TVs limitations can’t hurt you. The bar alone handles all the audio for you. This is one reason why pass through ports are so desired in a soundbar

    Hi, very good review. Just a question. I have a Samsung Tv Q series. I have a small little living room and acccording to my budget, I don't know to buy Samsung Q900A or JBL 9.1. Could you please recommend?

    Have watched all your soundbar reviews - outstanding - thank you for the combination of depth and humor. Opinion question for you - i don’t have space for rears in my living room (couch against the wall). I was considering either the Samsung Q80R or the JBL 9.1. I understand the Q80R is basically the Q90R without rears. My primary use case is Atmos. What would you recommend based on your tests?

      Rears are pretty important for the Atmos effect. JBL - put the rears on the back of your couch when atmosing - otherwise maybe keep them on the bar

    I wanted to ask you a question about it because I am not very techy. Will I be able to use the eARC technology with both my TV and PS5 at the same time without changing the HDMI ports every time I switch from TV to PS5 gaming since it only has one HDMI eARC port on the sound bar? I have the LG OLED C1 TV model as well. I am hoping I can utilize eARC for both TV and PS5 since I would want to mount my sound bar and not deal with changing HDMI cables. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks!

      All good. You can plug your device into any tv port or passthrough. If your TV and Bar support eARC that information will be transferred . Actually definitely don’t plug your PS5 into the eARC port as you want that port dedicated to your bar. Plug the PS5 into any of the bar passthroughs or any of the other TV HDMIs
