    I was looking forward to your comprehensive review. I watched your review of the jbl bar 9.1 a couple of years ago before purchasing it. I was thinking of purchasing the 1300 to replace the 9.1 however i guess ill just go for the q990b as its got a better sound stage and a better bang for the buck.

    Actually a bit relieved from your review. Ended up getting the q990b on sale but always had the 1300x in the back of my mind. Q990b doesn't have my favorite sound signature for music but the atmos experience for movies is unreal. Perfectly happy with this balance for nearly half the cost of the 1300x. Cheers bud

      yeah 1300x is so bad. atmos firing speakers dont even work - just mindless sounds above with no precision or height feeling. the system sounds like a crappy 3.1 system and the subwoofer is so bad - no rumble, just a muted tone the whole time.
      worst soundbar ever. samsung is the only bar to produce greatest atmos effects ever. nothing will ever compare to samsung.

    Been following you for a long time. Thank you so much for this. Current owner of a JBL 9.1 (basement) and Q950T for my main setup in my living room. I pulled the trigger on this to replace the Q950T because I've always absolutely hated the ridiculous display on the top, the awful connectivity via the lame settings in the Smart Things app and random sub or rears turning off at different times where I've found myself checking for blue lights as a natural routine now, which is really sad. Really looking forward to this. Arrives on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 (have detailed dates for historical purposes). Now to figure out how to sell my Q950T because, man, the resale market for soundbars is just woeful.

    I currently have the Bar 9.1 and I still love. I was looking to upgrade this year or so and was looking at either this or the 990C. I have to have DTS-X so the Arc is out of the question. That being said I'm kinda disappointed by the new JBL offerings. I wish the soundstage was wider! I wish JBL would make another model without those battery detachable speakers as I ended up just leaving mine out and connected to power through a voice activated smart plug. By doing this would give JBL an option to make the rears bigger while also making the soundbar longer. I believe this is what the 1300X should've been. It would've been an instant buy for me but instead I will wait for BF to get 990C on sale. I might still consider the 1300X if the price is right too.

    Great review. In Romania we have only the 1300 non X option which is weaker than the X but not by much. The real problem for JBL in my case is that the Samsung Q990b can be had for as low as 700 Euro including VAT while the JBL 1300 non X is 1520 Euro. Even if it bested in quality by a little the other soundbar options the Samsung remains the best bang for buck.

    From what I can tell the 1170 watt power rating advertised is given as max power not rms. That sort of coincides with the fact the q990b gets a lot louder than the jbl. It's still a powerful soundbar but I think people need to understand that just because it has a 10 inch woofer (12 inch US) and 1170 watt slapped on the box, doesn't mean this is the system to blow your house down.

    I don't know if you read every one of our thoughts or questions. But I am dying to ask you one. When I see the manual, it says the Subwoofer is 300W(max THD 1%). So the subwoofer is 300 W or just the peak power is 300W. Experts say they are two very different thing. Peask (Max) and Rated output. I hope you can answer. I even cannot have the answer from JBL or SAMSUNG so far since I am in the middle of deciding what to buy. This or SAMSUNG 990B. Since Samsung 990B has 200W subwoofer. So shall I have to also count that Samsung has less power than JBL in terms of Subwoofer? Thanks always.

    Q990B in Europe is consistently around 900€ which make impossible to beat, unless you really need rear speaker without plugs. A curiosity about this JBL, when the rear are attached to the bar, do you lose the wide tweeters? Because I do not see them in the detachable speakers.

    Im assuming all the interest in soundbars are due to the fact that speaker wiring in your home is not an option. Otherwise it wouldnt take much to get way better soundstaging with some decent satellite speakers a decent receiver with a good subwoofer. Also at the same or fraction of the cost. Obviously convenience is a Pro. Cons are many. Technology for sure getting better. However when you start getting into systems over 1k, I need to be blown away and I just havent heard anything yet that blows me away. Just my thoughts. Take or leave. Great review though.

    I've been waiting for 4+ years to find the perfect sound bar set up. The Samsung, if they'll ever allow us to add multiple subs, then it's a true winner! Until then, it's just not enough...oomph! Sonos, great sound, especially with the new 300 speakers. But a full blown with dual subs on the Sonos, your looking at $3300.00! So that's why, in less than 2 months comes... The Dragon! Listening to it at this years CES. Was simply... jaw dropping! Yes, it's loud. But, it was the lesser nuances such as classical music. With the ability to use 1 to 4 subs, in only 2 boxes, is brilliant! A true stainless steel body, no plastic!!! Brilliant. $3499.00 yeah it's pricey. But look what you get. Lastly, it's the only bar with DTX-PRO, and Dolby Atmos that only comes with AVR'S. Great video.

      3500 USD for the Dragon...only in very space restricted situation. Otherwise go full atmos system: Pioneer VSX-LX305 9.2 avr with 2 Jamo S809 towers + 2 Jamo S803 surrounds + Jamo 81 center + Jamo sub + 4xJamo S8 atmos speakers that connect directly on top of other speakers. It's much better than any soundbar and probably cheaper than the Dragon.

      @Adrian M you are absolutely 💯 percent right. i agree. However, some of us are lacking in space. this particular system would be ideal for me because of this reason. @@hellterskeltor If there is no space for front tower speakers or even bookshelf speakers than I agree with you that a soundbar is the way to go and probably the Nakamichi will be the best. For the surrounds and the sub the necessary space is similar between the 2 options. In the front though the Nakamichi is huge almost as big as Ambeo Max so there is that. With Atmos in ceiling speakers or wall mounted speakers you may also face a space or wiring problem, its true. I just assumed that going with a soundbar option is the effect of the lacking space but also of lower budget...let's say max 2500 usd.

    This guy is gonna blow up on TH-cam. Please please collaborate with youthman. Amazing amazing talent to deliver a review in the most simple and consize manner. I have one question for you on behalf of all of us. Including dragon should a general joe go for q990c (upcoming) or dragon? Will the extra cost justify the Experience in a regular sized apartment? Also why do you think is samsung still giving only 1 8" sub? They can't even do 10"? When dragon is giving 4 * 8" of this JBL with 12"

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the endorsement - My instinct is that the Q990C (wait a few months for price to drop) would more than meet the needs of customers and at a manageable price. I see the dragon as being way too much for the typical living room space. Both systems can be overwhelming and in an apartment space you will really only be able to access a fraction of what these systems can do - while staying out of jail. If you have a big open space - like the space behind me in my videos, the dragon may make more sense. Big sound systems really sparkle there … The C will also have the benefit of being 4 generations old so a lot of refinement time that the dragon has not gone through yet. I imagine a buggy 3500 soundbar system would be uniquely annoying. But look forward to testing out all my predictions. I know there have been a lot of complaints about Q rears dropping … I haven’t experienced that in at least a prolonged noticeable manner - I’m not sure what percentage of customers are impacted but that seems to be the biggest Q/C caution point as far as I can tell
      I suspect the Q sub has been kept smaller to control material and shipping cost -- wouldn’t be surprised if it’s upped next year when there should be a more significant design change.
